ccsays i'm 22+2 today and have had the exact same experience. my dh felt her kick for the first time this weekend, it was so exciting! and I also think I have finally started to look slightly more pregnant than just overweight, although the flip side to that is that feels like my thighs and bum are also getting some of the love...

2labs i think it's normal to feel like that some days... I also feel like during the week I eat relatively well, but on weekends I indulge too much and it makes me feel so chubby and heavy. I've trained my dh to tell me I'm beautiful every time I tell him I feel fat. Makes me feel better to hear it whether he means it or not :)

mumoftwoboysS · 19/08/2013 08:10

bonkers hope you get someone to look at that lump today so you know what it is/how to treat it- good luck!

I had a lump in my boob last pregnancy- but sounds like its not the same! turned out to be nothing- just a fibroid or one of those benign lumps? But had a few scans and lots of worrying...
ccsays I've been feeling bigger kicks too and DH has felt a few- and seen a few! It's so nice isn't it? (I'm 22+1 now) baby spends a lot of time kicking other bits I can't see tho (perhaps towards the bottom/back) so hopefully he/she will turn again soon to give us some more entertainment!

2labs sorry you're feeling rubbish - its so easy to get down about the weight gain during pregnancy I think as it can be so rapid and so, well, obvious! But try not to worry too much- it's only temporary and the main thing is baby is happy in there and you can lose it again (I'll be having to lose the weight for the 3rd time too!)

talking about very huge bums- I really need to buy some more pants this week! mine are digging in! Even my maternity bras (all 2 of them) are digging in and I wore an underwired bra yesterday and it was so uncomfortable! sigh- more expense- may have to go get measured at mothercare this week....

Alyssa1978 · 19/08/2013 08:38

hi 2labs ended up in hospital due to the awful stomach pains and baby wasn't moving anymore no matter what I did etc.
Checked heartbeat which thank god was fine and cervix was long thick and very very closed Smile

My urine sample had various high points and the pain in lower back indicated a problem there so they gave me tablets to sort it out.

Was there for 6 hours, heard all the lovely women in labour and lots of gas and air sucking.

They were not happy with my midwives as they have been saying the fact my urine samples of late are slighly out of range was ok to be left. The doctor I saw on the labour ward said as I'm only 24+6 weeks she didn't want the infection to start irritating my womb and kick off labour, so happy I went in really x

b0nker5Mum · 19/08/2013 09:59

Thanks ladies,

I managed to speak to a midwife in the labour ward, felt a little bit of a fake as they sounded busy, but the midwife said it is probably likely that it's to do with the fibroid, to take paracetamol if it gets too bad and book in to see the doctor for my own peace of mind...

So called the Drs and no appointments until Thurs unless it's an emergency and then I'd have to call in the afternoon.

Still uncomfortable today and on the train I felt a kick in that area, can they get their limbs stuck or anything like that do you think? still feels a bit too high to be baby... maybe it just kicked the fibroid....!

Alyssa, I hope you are more reassured now?

2labs, I feel much the same but it's more the other way around... I feel fat and frumpy at work and never feel like I have anything to wear, at weekends I am more than likely in old clothes for painting/decorating the house so not bothered what I look like! Just can't wait to move in now!

Alyssa1978 · 19/08/2013 10:27

Yeah bonker feel tons better, you'd think it got easier the third time around but there's always something to worry you.

My kicks are just above the belly button area, where abouts is the lump??

Bump is kicking like mad today Grin

hetsto · 19/08/2013 10:33

Hello all! Hope you all had a good weekend.

ccsays Lovely to hear such good news about your friend, it's great when things figure out that way. I totally know what you mean about the bump and starting to feel bigger too. Try not to let it get you down 2labradors, although I know what you mean about finding it hard to dress the bump in anything flattering. I've been quite lucky so far with most of my weight going on the belly, and I have been able to find some things to wear, but they're just not my usual style at all, so all feel a bit strange.

Glad to hear you had some reassurance and checks Alyssa1978 and b0nker5mum, hope you're both feeling ok.

Queenofwhispers, it sounds like you've had rather a lot on! Families are really tough sometimes so well done for dealing with it all so admirably, don't forget to look after yourself amid it all!

Good news about your DP's potential job change weechops, I'm not sure what I'd do without my DP around at the moment!

Have you guys started to do much in the way of shopping for the new arrivals yet? We went to John Lewis and mothercare at the weekend to start thinking about what we'll need and it was so overwhelming! We won't be able to get very much in the way of hand-me-downs I don't think so it feels like there's a lot of buy at the moment! I'm really hoping we don't need two of everything but it kind of seems that way. Anyone who's already a mum - is it totally mad to consider buying two 'normal' small prams and two slings, then taking two prams when going out with DP and carrying the girls in a sling and a single pram when I'm on my own? The double prams just seem too unruly!

b0nker5Mum · 19/08/2013 10:49

Alyssa, It's a few inches below my right boob, my whole tummy feels hard but the books all say the uterus is only just above my belly button at this stage (24 weeks today), my last pregnancy is a 16 year old now so a long time ago! not sure if my insides are still the same as a normal second pregnancy IYKWIM. I am however fairly small (5ft and a very important 1/4 inch) so maybe my belly button is lower than average?

It feels like it's all tingly where the lump is if I am sitting down and very uncomfortable and most nights (apart from last night ironically!) I wake up in agony and have to jump up almost like cramp I guess...

froubylou · 19/08/2013 11:23

Bonkers I'd go and see the midwife even if it is just for reassurance. Can you ring and make an appointment? Or book in for the GP's on thursday and you can always cancel if it disappears?

Queen sounds like fun at your end lol.

Hetso, the oonly thing I have bought is the breastpump but I am lucky in that I have rather a lot of hand me downs to come and have already got quite a bit passed on. Not sure about the pram situation? I think a sling and a pram combo would be fine in the early days but as they get bigger pushing a pram and using a sling at the same time sounds a bit knackering to me. Sorry no help at all I know. Could you get one single pram and one double for if you need it later on? And would both twins go in together in a carrycot in the early days? Not sure if that is advised or not!

I'm full of rage at the moment lol. Don't know why other than hormones pmsl. Went to a pony show at weekend with DD, DP and Dsis. Both DP and Dsis got it in the neck at some point. But feel curiously overprotective over DD? Definatly hormones pmsl.

Must be bad though, DP brought me a coffee up this morning AND a biscuit without being asked. And Dsis has offered to bath ponies for me in future when we go showing.

Am desperate for someone to have a go at me so I can really unleash some anger pmsl.

itsliz · 19/08/2013 11:38

Morning, all!

Just popping in to let you all know that our 20 week scan (well, technically 21 weeks!) went well this morning and it turns out we're 100% definitely in team blue!!!

DP and I are both in shock as we were both so sure it was going to be a little girl, but from what we saw on the scan, there's no doubt it's a boy...!

Haven't had chance to read everyone else's posts yet so I'm going to get on with that and then start shopping for blue things Grin

MrsShrubs · 19/08/2013 11:58

Just quickly to say M&S are having 20% off certain departments online today, one of which is kidswear - just bought baby boy some great bits at M&S quality but for primark prices so get looking girlies!

Will go have a catch up on what I've missed on here over the weekend!

b0nker5Mum · 19/08/2013 12:13

I have booked the appointment with the dr for Thurs so hopefully will all be ok then, can't even book for 28 week MW appointment as they don't have the appointments ready yet and the MW will only be in twice between now and then! stupid system!

We have ordered the nursery furniture (PILs kindly offered to pay for it as they won some money on the Premium bonds!) not coming until the Monday after I go on Mat leave so will give me something to do! Keep looking at prams and I think we are decided on which one but just need to make the final decision! bought a few bits in the mothercare sale yesterday, thought we'd go for new baby until the sales assistant pointed out that they go up to 10lbs so will more than likely swamp baby so got a few tiny baby clothes (up to 7lbs).... My DD was tiny (5lb15) but incredibly long so didn't fit into tiny for very long!

We have ordered tickets to the baby show in October so will try and pick up all the last minute bargains then!

MrsShrubs · 19/08/2013 12:33

Right I think I'm all caught up - huge apologies if I miss anyone off

b0nkers I really hope you manage to see someone even if it is just to confirm it's nothing at all to worry about. Best to be safe & get checked out.

2labs I got the same way on Saturday, it was my SIL's birthday and we had a BBQ and she's only a year younger than me but being around her & her friends in my maternity gear while they're all in tiny skinny jeans made me feel so frumpy!! Plus the fact after a couple of hours I had to undo my bra at the back because I was uncomfortable didn't help matters. Then there are days when I love how big my bump is and try ro push it out further to show everyone I'm pregnant!

Alyssa glad you managed to be seen & fingers crossed you'll be fine now they've given you something.

hetsto I've mainly got clothes (read LOTS of clothes hehe) & sleep suits at the moment and a breast feeding pillow which the MIL bought for me. I've got a week off in September so we're heading out then to get cracking on prams and car seats. We are extremely lucky as my mum & dad and my MIL have said they will buy our cot, changing table / dresser, wardrobe and moses basket between them as a present to us.

frouby your anger thing cracked me up, now is the time to call up and negotiate a better rate on things like electricity etc as you'll take no prisoners!

itsliz massive congratulations on your scan Flowers and welcome to team blue Smile

phew I think that's everyone!

Getting so uncomfortable by the end of the day, I start to feel like the top of my rib cage is going to burst open, have resorted to just a stick on bra today & have ordered in some bra strap extenders to add an extra 1&1/2 inch to the back of all my bras before resorting to paying out for new ones. Have also started getting really angry stretch marks at the top of my thighs (not sure if this is normal or not?) despite all the rubbing in of cocoa butter oil over the last few months. Feel like I'm 13 again having my growth spurt, the hormones are more or less the same as then too!

hetsto · 19/08/2013 14:51

Yeah, we were originally thinking about a double frouby, but I just wonder how practical it would be if I was out on my own with them - getting on the tube or bus etc. ...or perhaps that's totally unrealistic anyway? According the the John Lewis lady, they're not supposed to share carry cots or beds at all as they're liable to suffocate eachother!! I'm not sure how much truth there is in that, but I figure we'll need two cots/beds eventually anyway. Anyone would think they hadn't just spent 9 months squished up against eachother inside me the way people go on about keeping twins separate.

Congratulations Itsliz! That's lovely news.

Thanks for the M&S tip-off MrsShrubs, I'll take a look! I know what you mean about the ribcage ripping open too - my chest feels really stretched and full, and it certainly isn't with air. I guess it's just getting pretty tight in there with babies growing and everything else shifting around to make room. Good thinking on the bra extenders though. I've got the beginnings of stretchmarks on my hips now, and they're a bit itchy and ugly, but otherwise fine. Keep going with that cocoa butter!

mumoftwoboysS · 19/08/2013 16:01

Just spoken to the mw about my latest blood test (platelets up a bit) asked about iron levels and she said it wasn't part of the test (mw got that wrong then, she said it was!) but as my haemoglobin levels are not too low, probably means its ok. So I said I could try and combat (the overwhelming) tiredness I feel by eating iron rich foods. She said also to avoid sugar dips-I.e. avoid quick fixes of energy (sugar, chocolate etc) oops so I shouldn't have had that kitkat earlier?! Anyone else noticed a difference with tiredness by avoiding sugary treats? I should really try it (going to be tough as I have a sweet tooth) the appeal of a boiled egg or cube of cheese is nowhere near the same as a biscuit or cake...

mumoftwoboysS · 19/08/2013 19:59

0h and congrats itzliz on your scan! enjoy your shopping!

not sure who said it but who mentioned they were getting kicks above their belly button already? wow! I'm still only getting kicks/movement quite low down. Maybe it depends which way round baby is- yours must be head down doing handstands!

Alyssa1978 · 19/08/2013 21:15

That was me mum, he kicks low down a lot and feels like his foots gonna come out lol but been getting loads above belly button.

bonker that sounds like what I had with last pregnancy and this one only minus the lump, it was/is always about an inch under my left boob and would feel numb/tingly when sitting down and it really aches when sitting certain ways, midwife said it was every pushing up but I didn't have the lump so I hope your appt sheds some light for you and all is well.

Alyssa1978 · 19/08/2013 21:17

mum midwife says baby is head down so his feet must be kicking above my belly button and his hands must be trying to burrow out lol

MildredH · 20/08/2013 07:16

Arghh!! sleeping so flipping lightly at the moment. Wide awake since 5.30 but of course now it's time to get up I feel like nodding off..

MollySJ · 20/08/2013 07:58

Morning all!
Off on holiday tomorrow so today is last minute running around joy.
Those of you that have been away already did you need to show your antenatal notes at check in? I'll be taking them obviously but do I pack in hand luggage or stow safely in hold bag? Also it'll be the first flight with our DS (19 months) Any tips from the second/third timers?!

b0nker5Mum · 20/08/2013 08:41

Thanks Alyssa, I had been putting it down to my insides being squashed upwards possibly as well.... that sounds almost exactly what I have been feeling so good to know I'm not alone....hopefully the Dr will shed some light on it on Thurs...

Molly, the check in didn't ask when we went away a few weeks ago but I wasn't showing as much.... We are flying the dreaded Ryanair on Friday and I am a lot bigger now so hopefully they will not make me pay for "extra baggage" Wink I took my notes in my hand luggage and it stayed there for the whole 2 weeks! Have a great time, where are you off too?

froubylou · 20/08/2013 08:45

Morning all

Say the baby move my tummy for the first time this morning! Can't wait to show DD and DP but I bet he won't do it on demand lol.

Molly have a fab holiday. I took DD aged 2 away and she's a pretty seasoned traveller. My main tip is to buy them a massivley overpriced magazine or toy from the airport on the way out to keep them occupied on the plane. Don't have the airplane meals as it's a nightmare trying to hold a fidgety child and have trays down whilst they clear it away and don't stress about anything! Forget all your normal rules about sweeties and crap and buy something they like to produce if you feel a moment brewing! Also let them take their own bag with a blanket and a favourite toy on if you can.

If you have an ipad or kindle or something like that it's a good idea to pre load games or programs for them. Where are you going? Am weljel lol. We're not having a holiday this year due to the baby and cost and everything else. We were going to look into a caravan or maybe even camping for a long weekend or something but haven't gotten around to it.

Mum, no advice really other than I can't not have sweet sugary snacks to keep going lol. Maybe compromise and have the sweet thing to immediatly lift and then something slow release afterwards? You'll get the best of both worlds then.

I'm finding it hard to eat proper meals at the min. Tend to snack a couple of times during the day instead. But when I do have my tea although I am starving by the time I dish it out, it seems to sit there and not move for hours. Can still feel yesterdays roast beef sat at the top of my tummy if you know what I mean?

And am struggling with constipation again. Sigh. Hadn't been for 4 days until yesterday then went 3 times. Not nice.

And usually if I get a bit backed up a couple of cans of lager does the trick. And a few fags. And both are off limits now.

Though I may have half a lager shandy later if I still feel as bloated. Can't see that hurting.

Mrs, I'm having bra pains at the minute too. Can't seem to get comfortable. Either too tight or too loose. And I'm trying to hold off buying anymore just now as I want the next lot to be nursing bra's. And I have huge boobs so will have to order those online as well. Those extenders are good though. And if you are just too tight should give you a bit of relief.

Holly, hope you are OK lovely? xx

Dasie · 20/08/2013 08:56

Hi everyone, Molly I went to the States a few weeks ago and took my mat notes in my hand luggage. My main reason was I didn't want to go through the X-ray screening so took my notes to back me up when I made the request(both sides were actually fine about it) Have a lovely holiday Grin

Roselau · 20/08/2013 08:59

mildred i had the exact same thing this morning. fell back asleep the second the alarm rang.

molly i don't think you'll have a problem flying. i went two weeks ago, and although I wasn't showing that much, no one asked for anything. However, i'm going to be flying in my 30th week and I think to be safe I will get a 'OK to fly' letter from the doctor. Just so you know, the MW (the UCLH ones in London anyways) are not allowed to give them out anymore which is a pain in the butt and you have to get them from your GP.

frouby for constipation, i agree usually a few pints would be my go to... I found that a cup of coffee in the morning sitting down at my desk, with a croissant or something like that, does the trick. I usually ask for one shot espresso in a decaf americano, so it feels like you get the full coffee, but there is not too much caffeine.

I can't believe I'm in week 23 already. 2nd trimester is coming to an end so quickly!! I must say I've been feeling really good lately in the grand scheme of things. went to pg yoga yesterday and I find it so relaxing. also really taking advantage of alone time with my DH as I know it wont last. he is just so sweet at the moment I cannot get enough of him.

the only negative is my birthday coming up and I'm not happy to be turning 31.... ugh

MollySJ · 20/08/2013 13:20

Thanks for all the tips ladies, I've covered most bases with treats for DS on the plane so fingers crossed for us! Flying at 7am so he'll be very much awake.....Can't wait to enjoy the pool etc with him though - he's going to burst with excitement!!
We're going to Fueterventura for a week just to get away really - on our return we have hen do, return to work (teacher), bestie's wedding, sisters wedding all in a 3 week window - relaxing!!

violetbean · 20/08/2013 14:09

Bra extender a brilliant idea, hadn't thought of that! Thank you Smile

Have had a rotten cold this week and DH says I've been snoring... ugh! Sad Still coughing quite a lot. Fingers crossed it'll go away soon.

Have a lovely holiday molly! Sounds divine.

b0nker5, hope doctor's appt goes well. Frouby and others, hope constipation improves.

Have a nice afternoon all!
