No we are team yellow! Do you know what you are having?

I cut up the lettuce - I put it in a big salad bowl and went to get a plate then thought "stuff it, who am I kidding" and just took the salad bowl and fork into the dining room ShockBlush it was delicious at the time!!!

HMT13 · 20/07/2013 07:14

No, team yellow too. Thought u might give me a clue!! Grin

harverina · 20/07/2013 14:07

Haha no clue - although I didn't crave anything like this last time and I had a girl...so we must be having boys Wink

Wibblypiglikesbananas · 20/07/2013 14:23

Hi all, I guess we're lucky with the air con thing, though mine seems to be struggling to get anywhere below 80F now it's so hot outside!

Angus - thanks for the tip - I'll give Cigna a call. We have a hospital tour booked in too, as well as a sibling class for DD to see where I'll be! Only in America, eh?!

I watch out for the free shipping too! Also, do you have any friends who work for the embassy, as they can use the BFPO addresses so free UK delivery for everything.

We were home last month so I had a whistlestop tour of John Lewis, M&S, Mothercare and so on. We also brought over loads of DD's tiny baby stuff (well, the generic stuff as at that point, we didn't know this one was a boy). MIL and FIL are over soon and bringing more. With hindsight, we should have shipped all baby things when we moved, whoops! Feeling pretty organised as we have been given loads of boy things by friends here so just need to get a new double pram and changing table and then odds and ends like a new nappy bin.

Brands I've found good here are Carters, OshKosh and BabyGap - my local one seems to have a permanent sale on and 40% off on a Tuesday randomly! Have you signed up to Zulily here as every now and then they do half price Bugaboos, Uppababys and so on?

Aarrgghh! My heartburn is starting up again! I had it from 9 weeks with DD so I guess 25 isn't too bad this time around but I hate it! Off to find the equivalent of Gaviscon here today.

Have a lovely weekend all x

Thread has been very quiet! I wonder if you're all too busy concentrating on keeping cool to bother posting - I for one have enjoyed rediscovering ice pops this week!

Another one here suffering from heartburn/indigestion again after having had a few weeks' respite. I bought a huge box of Rennie this morning and have been chewing them down all day! Think it's because I'm now rather sizeable and the bump is crunched up while I'm at my desk all day (and the saga of the cankles has continued too which I'm also blaming on work Grin)! I keep having random people ask me when the baby's due lately - they seem incredulous when I tell them October (I make a point of not saying "late" October too!).

Anyone else properly mahoosive in the bump region now?

Aha, people are back! I wondered what had happened - maybe it's just the holidays...

Yes, the old bump is getting big now! And the whole thing is becoming a bit more real. We have another check at 28 weeks and a 'childbirth refresher' course at the hospital soon, so that should be interesting!

lilstar · 27/07/2013 12:06

I havent posted on this thread before but hoping some of you lovely ladies can help me with a question as you are around the same stage or slightly ahead than me. I am due 27/11 and am in my 22nd week but for the past few days have been having braxton hicks. I seem to remember having them alot later with dc1 and am wondering if its normal at this point? Is anyone else gettig them already? Thanks in advance for any replies :-)

Babybump26 · 27/07/2013 13:16

Hi lilstar, I'm a first timer so I'm afraid I can't help you with this one from experience but I gave read it can happen that early? Hopefully one of the other girls will be able to help more Smile

harverina · 27/07/2013 20:42

Grrrrr just posted a huge reply and lost it!!

Lilstar - I have never had braxton hicks but I know others on this thread have spoken about having them since fairly early on. Hopefully someone will come and reassure you but think its not uncommon to have them.

lilstar · 27/07/2013 20:49

Thanks for the replies. Been having a look around and put up a post in the pregnancy section and it seems its not too uncommon to have them this early so feelig better about it now. Hope you all are keeping well too :-)

Wibblypiglikesbananas · 28/07/2013 16:45

Welcome lilstar - I don't have them as yet but my friend does, so you're not alone!

MummaPanda · 29/07/2013 19:08

Yes I had A LOT of BH's with my first from about 20weeks onwards. Some quite strong ones too. This time round have been feeling them from about 14weeks. It isn't anything to worry about unless they get really crampy and painfull and are regular for a few hours, and walking around / changing position doesn't stop them.

Yes I think sadly the fb group has killed the MN thread Sad

26+1!

Hi, I've never used this site before. Also due Nov 2013. Is the facebook site private? Would posts show up on my own facebook page? I'd rather keep the undignified details of my pregnancy secret from my family and friends! And how do i join?

Morning all. Count me in with the heartburn. The other night I didn't sleep a wink because I'd had fajitas for dinner. I knew as I was eating them that I shouldn't have but we were visiting friends so couldn't turn them down and they were delicious
I'm cramped up at my desk all day. Counting down until maternity leave - only five weeks to go, scary stuff. Although goodness knows how I'll be keeping DS entertained when he finishes nursery and I just want to lol about like a beached whale!

mycatlikestwiglets · 30/07/2013 10:26

getoff I can recommend Rennie Ice for the heartburn - have been crunching them down regularly and they work pretty quickly for me.

Lucky you having only 5 more weeks until maternity leave! I think if one more person asks me when I'm going off I might have to lamp them - I'm going at the end of Sept so not exactly leaving it late but it still seems like AGES away!

Fairydogmother · 30/07/2013 10:27

Hello all sorry I haven't been on mn for ages!

26 weeks today and doing grand Grin

getoffthecoffeetable · 30/07/2013 11:34

mycat thanks. I'll give them a try.
I'll be induced mid October so there'll be plenty to do in the interim I'm sure!

harverina · 30/07/2013 15:11

Urgh I have heartburn too :( mostly at night when I lie down. Gavison dual action are very effective - at night I now try having 1 or 2 and sitting up on bed for a while before I go to sleep. I also have an extra pillow which I find helps when it's bad. It often keeps me awake too for a few hours. I get to sleep eventually but 5 hours sleep is just not enough Hmm

I am currently sitting in maternity triage waiting on blood results. I have has itchy feet and hands the past few days aswell as a general itch elsewhere so getting a liver function test. Had monitor on for a whole, it was lovely to hear baby's heartbeat although I get so nervous in case it suddenly stops!

Can I ask, how much movement is normal? Should I be getting movements all day? I don't and I can't remember what my movements were like when I was pregnant with dd.

retroelle · 30/07/2013 15:29

Hope your liver is ok! I get movements every few hours and also quiet times where I assume he's having a snooze.

I've had BH since about week 16, and it's my first pregnancy. I think it's normal; for me it is usually triggered by not drinking enough water.

mycatlikestwiglets · 30/07/2013 15:42

Hope all ok harv. I've been itching a bit lately too (although mainly on the bump so I'm not concerned) and after bio-oiling up today it seems a bit better.

27 weeks today and movement fairly sporadic, some quiet periods and some where baby goes a bit crazy so I think it's normal not to feel movement constantly. I can't remember much from my last pregnancy but I think it was similar.

I am going slowly crazy due to restless feet. Have been taking a magnesium supplement in the hope that calms it down but my word it's annoying, especially at night!

harverina · 30/07/2013 16:13

Hey thanks - I asked the midwife and she said I should be getting at least 12 movements per day at this stage. My movements sound similar to you guys - sporadic with quiet times and busy times and well over 12 per day. It's nice sometimes to have a bit of clarity about what is normal! A few people have asked me today if my movements have been ok and I said yes then I wondered to myself what they actually expect?!

Some of the results have come back - iron levels are low but not worryingly - I will start supplements and hopefully that will help with tiredness and breathlessness.

littlemonkey2013 · 31/07/2013 13:09

harverina i just asked about the movements thing on the count the kicks thread because im confused. i had read 10 movements per day is nothing to worry about. but is it each kick or a group of kicks. for example baby will kick like 5 times in a row with a few seconds between each, does that class as 1 or 5? if its each and every kick then im sure ive got nothing to worry about.
