This baby is going NUTS kicking me now! It's so lovely to know he's in there and ok - could really do without the 4am version though. The first trimester dragged but now time is really speeding by.

Welcome all the new people!

getoffthecoffeetable · 08/07/2013 20:22

Hi to all the newbies, congratulations and welcome!
My baby's going crackers too, moving about loads day and night. Way more than DS used to.
Loving the gorgeous weather but not the swollen feet and fingers that go with it!

harverina · 08/07/2013 21:00

I am getting lots of movement tonight too - I am sitting watching my tummy move Grin your right it is so lovely to know they are ok in there.

My dh said when I was pregnant with eilidh he used to cuddle me at night and he would hold my tummy while she kicked and did somersaults - I slept through it all Grin never once woke up with her kicking!

Fairydogmother · 08/07/2013 22:17

I'm another one with lots of kicks and rumbling about - some even hurt slightly! Feel like a bit of a whale today but I haven't drank as much war as I should have so maybe upping that will help!

I've to fly to England this Thursday - there and back in a day! Going to be utterly wiped

No, I wouldn't say that's true. Whilst some children never sleep well, is say that most learn the difference between night and day and that a good routine from early on helps. Although eilidh was still getting up several times a night, at 8 weeks we started a bedtime routine of bath, story, lights low/off, feed, bed. We stuck to that routine even if she was cluster feeding in the evenings for 7 hours and not actually going to bed until midnight!

harverina · 08/07/2013 22:42

Meant to say that most of my movements are in the evening and I still feel kicks as I am going to sleep around 11pm/midnight.

harverina · 08/07/2013 22:43

Goodness me, I should have said when I was pregnant with dd she kicked all through the night!

People said it to me too Grin

getoffthecoffeetable · 09/07/2013 05:44

I've been awake for the last hour, no sign of getting back to sleep again. Baby is wide awake having a party in there too.
I'm going to be worn out by the time I get into work at this rate!

harverina · 09/07/2013 06:30

Getoff I haven't been awake for as long but didn't get to sleep till after 1am and dd woke me at half 5 telling her gro clock was yellow little fibber Angry

Work will be fun today won't it Hmm

retroelle · 09/07/2013 09:21

I was awake from 3.30am for an hour or so while the baby partied, my downstairs neighbours rocked in from wherever they had been, etc, but then listened to a radio 4 podcast which soon put me back to sleep!

I have spent this morning looking for a dress to wear to my friends' wedding next month when I will be 30 weeks along. This is not an easy task!

GwenStacy · 09/07/2013 09:56

I thought they tended to be more active at night as walking around and moving can rock them to sleep, but when you're lying still, they wake up a bit?

I fell down the stairs this morning, which was pretty scary. Luckily, I somehow managed to end up on my knees, kind of kneeling, which has given me slightly painful knees and ankles, but bump didn't get squashed or knocked, just a bit jolted, and I can feel her moving around loads, so I'm not too worried - should I make an appointment to get checked, or as she didn't get knocked, should we be okay?

EcoHippyMum · 09/07/2013 10:08

It's been ages since I've been on here!

GwenStacy I'd call your midwives if your at all worried or unsure. They will put your mind at rest either way.

Fairydogmother · 09/07/2013 10:28

retro - do you have a mothercare near you? i saw dresses in there in their sale and got a bodycon one for £18. there was another one that was £24 and very nice too.

gwen - i'm sure everything is grand as you didnt actually fall on your bump but if you arent sure then just give your gp or midwife a call to be on the safe side. i nearly fell yesterday - my heart started racing!

retroelle · 09/07/2013 11:25

Thanks fairydogmother. Unfortunately I don't really like body-con (or maxi dresses) and am also a bit limited by my height and my cheapness. What I really want is a tea-dress/vintagey type thing, but that doesn't really work with a bump.

mycatlikestwiglets · 09/07/2013 16:16

Hi all, checking in to new thread. Welcome to all the newbies!

retroelle, new look have some quite nice and cheap maternity dresses online with a tea dress sort of vibe to them so worth a look if you haven't already. They seem actually to be cotton too which is better than all that poly in this weather (why are so many maternity clothes polyester? Sweat central!)

So this will totally out me if anyone I know is on here but I managed to slip and break my arm yesterday which has made me pretty miserable. Interesting to see others have had wobbles too - take care ladies!

GwenStacy · 09/07/2013 16:57

Fairydogmother I'm not too worried really, just wondering if I should be if that makes sense? She wasn't happy with me after, I got a few very sharp jabs ;-)

I've lived in our flat with it's very steep stairs for almost 5 years, and we move in a couple of weeks, and this is the first time I've fallen, so I've not done too badly - thanks for the reassurance though x

Fairydogmother · 09/07/2013 19:11

Mycat - that's awful! I have broken numerous bones so I know exactly what it's like! Comfrey tea and arnica are both v good for bone healing

Fairydogmother · 09/07/2013 19:11

O should add that arnica is ok during pregnancy but not 100% about the comfrey!

mycatlikestwiglets · 09/07/2013 21:53

Ooh good tip Fairydog, I have some arnica in the cupboard too Smile

getoffthecoffeetable · 10/07/2013 00:29

mycat how awful for you. Are you managing ok? Is it your dominant or non dominant arm?
gwenstacy hope that you're feeling ok. Get checked out if you're at all worried.
I'm still awake! DH has been helping me sort out a screw up I've made at work. We never normally talk work but occasionally it's good to have your fella in the same profession. I'm really worried about it which I think is why I'm not sleeping, trying not to stress out because of the baby but it's easier said than done isn't it?
I second the New Look tip, I got a lovely just above the knee dress for a Christening from there a couple of weeks ago. Asos have a sale on still too I think.

mycatlikestwiglets · 10/07/2013 09:30

It's my dominant arm which is making life challenging! Thankfully though it's just a small fracture and the plaster can come off in 10 days so it could have been worse. Bath times with DS are interesting though!

Hope the work issue can be resolved getoff - these things tend not to be as bad as you think and it's good that you're trying to sort it out

retroelle · 10/07/2013 14:40

Boo to injuries!

I am nearly 23 weeks and just deciding what maternity leave date to give to HR. I'm thinking 37.5 weeks is about right as so far my pregnancy has gone very smoothly and I feel healthy famous last words.
