Hello all

Thank you so much for your love and support - I posted my earlier post in the middle of a down dip on the emotion-coaster, and you made me blub. Thanks! Blush

Baby heartonsleeve is doing remarkably well. He's still in NICU, in the highest care room, but he's progressed well over the week. I was discharged on Thursday evening, and had my suture out on Saturday. I'm on a high dose of iron, so my guts are not happy, and I'm pretty wrung out emotionally, but otherwise fine.

Following his initial blood transfusions, he has had his ventilator removed (on Tues overnight) and is on Vapotherm, which keeps his lungs open but he's breathing well on his own.

He's beginning to tolerate my milk now - that's been a bit backwards and forwards this week, but he's had a good 24 hours and now they're talking about increasing the amount he gets. I'm expressing milk, and it's pretty tough getting up in the middle of the night without a screaming child as an incentive at home.

We had our first cuddles with him on Saturday, and also a longer cuddle yday. He reacts well to kangaroo care, and it's so lovely to hold him - I was convinced at first that he would break, but that's not happened yet...

I got to change his nappy yday, which was fun, and quite comforting as I hadn't seen evidence up until then that he is in fact a he!! Grin

So all in all, all is going well. The staff here are unbelievably wonderful; they're all so lovely and dedicated. But most of all I'm thanking God for hearing prayers, and looking after him.

Hi heart,

It is wonderful to hear that your baby boy is doing so well. I have been thinking about you lots and praying that your little boy would be ok.

Your first cuddles sound really special. Something we take for granted so much of the time.

Hope you are ok - looking forward to hearing more wonderful news as the days and weeks pass xxx Grin

Hello all - is anyone's bump really hurting? I'm 28 weeks now and my bump feels so stretched. This is my first and am pretty slim normally so I guess that's got a lot to do with it. But anything I can do? Ouch!

Angus that made me laugh...scrubbing your floors for your parents coming Grin that's the sort of thing I do (and I pretend they are like that all the time Wink)

My bump has been a bit sore over the past few days but its only when i have been in bed and I am tossing and turning.

I am so tired today Hmm I can't wait to crawl into bed. Have to get dd fed, bathed and into bed first!

mycatlikestwiglets · 17/08/2013 07:46

My bump's a bit uncomfortable at times too - it feels very tight now (I'm also very slim usually) so it's like I can feel it growing! I've found that moisturising it regularly helps it feel a bit more supple somehow. Starting to get so uncomfortable at night though - I keep waking up on my back because I'm so uncomfortable on my side! I think it's because the baby's lying sideways (transverse?) at the moment so she's getting squashed.

Nearly 30 weeks here now and the excitement is growing!

CornishFirstTimer22 · 17/08/2013 11:23

I know what you mean about the uncomfortable nights! 29 weeks here and waking up through the night with either cramps in my legs or numb arms/ hands.

Anyone else get this? My shoulders are so sore in the morning too, I must not like sleeping on my side :-(

Starting to get 'nesty', feel like I need to organise things now! Unfortunately only a certain amount I can do until moving at the end of next month! have to make do with harassing the OH instead ;-)

mycatlikestwiglets · 17/08/2013 13:48

Oh god the night cramps! I get them in my calves - have realised though that I can head them off when I wake up with one coming on by bending my ankle really firmly. Strangely it works!

I've been in the middle of some decorating since breaking my wrist a few weeks back and am desperate to get it all finished now. At the moment the first few weeks of maternity leave are looking like frantic new baby prep instead of the rest I was hoping for!

littlemonkey2013 · 17/08/2013 19:17

mycatlikeswiglets i think my baby lies transverse at night too. i can change sides and he starts kicking loads into the bed. different sides at different times. if hes there then im not getting to lie on that side!

im most comfy on my back but with a pillow half under 1 side so im more tilted to 1 side. which is strange because im usually a side sleeper.

KirjavaTheCat · 18/08/2013 13:48

Must post on this thread more often.

Is anyone else getting really weird flippy movements when they get up suddenly? It's like the baby's startled and flips over, my belly goes all hard and then drops again suddenly. Very strange.

I'm feeling the nestiness, but have absolutely nothing to get nesty over. Baby won't have a room of her own until we move in January, until then she'll be in with us sidecarring it... I've crocheted myself out and I've renovated the moses basket, but there's nothing else I can do! Someone give me something to obsess over please Grin

harverina · 18/08/2013 19:31

I am nesting too! Weirdly I only started to feel the urge today!

I have no room to do yet - it's currently like a building site but will e ready in a few weeks hopefully Grin so today I have just been trying to clean and organise the rest of the house - I am incredibly messy so this is not an easy task (I hate being messy!)

Could you start getting the babies clothes ready? Pack your hospital bag?
