I've done it all! Apart from the hospital bag. I do need to pack one even though I'm homebirthing, just in case. Just getting round to buying the stuff for it, I don't own any nighties and I don't fancy being transferred in my usual holey bed tshirt.

That'll be my next project then, sourcing and putting together my hospital bag. Meanwhile the carpets need washing, because the baby will notice if the carpets aren't freshly cleaned...

Hi all, I have actually been lurking on this thread since I first found out I was pregnant but haven't posted until now as I have very high risk pregnancies and have been so scared of tempting fate - even now I am a bit nervous about it! I have had a double organ transplant and was told that i would never have children but i have so far proved the doctors wrong twice! I am now 27 + 1 and due Nov 17, we don't know what we are having. I also have a toddler DS who will be 3 the day before my due date!
I would love to join your Facebook group if that's ok and if someone could let me know what to do?
Also, does anyone have any hints for easing white coat syndrome?! When I was pregnant with DS if I was spilling protein and had a higher than normal blood pressure (which mainly seemed to happen when I was at the hospital but not at home!), I would be admitted. I am trying to avoid hospital admission for as long as I can this time because of DS (but obviously if there is anything truly wrong I am happy to be admitted!). I have hospital tomm and am already getting nervous!
Thanks everyone, hope you have good days :)

mycatlikestwiglets · 19/08/2013 10:42

clucky you can get a portable blood pressure monitor which will show any spikes induced by "white coat" syndrome - it shows the reality of whether high blood pressure is an issue or just down to being in the doctor's surgery. Might be worth discussing with your midwife/GP if you're concerned about this. Welcome to the thread anyway and congratulations on defying modern medicine!

clucky80 · 19/08/2013 13:59

Hey mycat, thanks for your reply. I've got a home one and actually just checked my bp and it was really good, it seems to be a bit higher in the morning but not too high thank goodness! With my first pregnancy with DS my obstetrician would say that she would see me after I'd had my blood pressure and ctg monitoring done and of course that would send it rocketing! If it was high she would say that she just couldn't let me leave the hospital with it that high so would admit me but luckily that would be for 1 night stints as typically as soon as I got to the ward it would be normal again and they would just watch me overnight and discharge me the next day!

KirjavaTheCat · 19/08/2013 14:10

Welcome Clucky! Belated congratulations Grin

I had a bit of white coat syndrome after I gave birth to DS, my BP would skyrocket every time they'd take it and I had to stay in. When I told them that I felt fine it's just that they made me nervous they calmed me down by talking to me for a bit before taking it, it was all normal. Sorry not much help but I totally get it!

Clucky what's your email? PM me and I'll try to add you to the FB group, though I haven't done it before so no idea if it'll work!

clucky80 · 19/08/2013 16:13

Hi Kirjava, thanks for your message :) it's amazing how much what goes on in our heads can affect our blood pressure! Brilliant thank you, I will PM you now.

vix206 · 19/08/2013 20:01

Hello. I hope you don't mind me posting. Not sure if anyone remembers me but I was amongst you for a while until I miscarried at 7 weeks. I really appreciated the support I got from the women on this thread Grin

Anyway, am now 18 weeks pregnant and all is good. Due January 22nd. Just wanted to share. I hope you are all doing well and not suffering too many aches and pains Smile

I'm wide awake grrrrrrr Angry

Woke to go to the loo at 3am, felt so tired but now I can't sleep!!! Yesterday morning bit was 5am...and of course once I am awake I start to worry about work!

clucky80 · 21/08/2013 14:26

Thanks littlemonkey Smile
Congratulations Vix!
I am delighted as looks like I am keeping myself out of hospital for another 2 weeks at least! I was spilling lots of protein on my urine dip yesterday but because everything is complicated for me because of my transplants it doesn't seem as significant as it sounds ifykwim. My consultants words were 'watch and wait' which is good for me! It means we can go to Peppa Pig world with DS on Sunday now - not sure if its the best idea with all of the queues but DS will love it and we probably won't get many more chances to do things just the 3 of us.
Hope everyone is well today Smile

Hellington · 21/08/2013 23:07

Hi everyone. Hoping to rejoin having posted briefly at the start but dipped out as I was feeling so rubbish until about 15 wks and reading about everyone else feeling ill made me feel worse! Now doing good and due on 6 Nov.

Had midwife appt today and told I've got mild PGP symptoms and measuring small but in normal range.

Can someone let me know how to join the FB group?

KirjavaTheCat · 22/08/2013 08:32

Hey Hellington. Good to hear you're feeling better!

Clucky did you manage to get onto the FB group with the invite I sent? If not I'll add you as a friend and add you in that way :)

Hellington if you PM me your name I'll do the same thing.

clucky80 · 22/08/2013 17:04

Hi Kirjava, I didn't get the invite - ill pm you my name and Facebook user name/profile thingy (I'm not v technical!). Thanks so much :)

clementine82 · 22/08/2013 22:44

Such good news, Vix!

I went for a checkup today. Everything has been normal so far, but today the midwife said I had some glucose in my urine and that my baby was measuring 31 weeks instead of 28.

I'd had a fairly sugary muesli bar not long before. I'm also normally a size 10 and have hardly put on any weight apart from the bump, eat well and exercise.

Also I realised I'm actually 29 weeks tomorrow and I've always thought the dates weren't quite right - my menstrual cycle was generally shorter than 28 days. Plus my husband is 6ft 5 and weighed over 10lb when he was born! Eek!

So this may be all be nothing, but I've got another scan week after next and a glucose test next week. Not looking forward to the latter as I have to fast for nearly 12 hours for that and I feel so sick these days if I don't eat.

Anyone else going through this?

getoffthecoffeetable · 23/08/2013 08:43

clementine I had glucose on my urine last test but had the GTT and all was fine. Try not to worry.
clucky I suffer with high bp and last pregnancy I kept a daily diary or bp readings twice a day, this seemed to keep the doc's happy.

mycatlikestwiglets · 23/08/2013 09:27

Try not to worry clementine - if you're 29 weeks and your bump is measuring 31, it's actually only 2cm difference in the "ideal" fundal height. That could easily have been caused by the midwife measuring from the wrong place, having the tape measure a bit slack etc. etc. It's really not an exact science - plus if your husband is big you may well just have a big baby. Even if it's GD though it can usually be managed by a few changes in your diet.

Fwiw I was sent for a growth check in my last pregnancy because I was supposedly measuring the same at 32 weeks as I did at 28 weeks. When the consultant at the hospital measured me he clearly though my midwife was mad because he measured me spot on 32 weeks - and I went on to have a fairly large DS at 8lb11.5oz (which given that I'm tiny and DH is only 5'8", was pretty good work).
