So this weekend DHs family have all agreed to an outdoor photo shoot with all the GC to celebrate FILs 60th. Its with a professional photographer out in some woods somewhere.

I'm really starting to dread not just the shoot itself but the results... I could really do without my chubby gurning 7 month moon face and heat wave glistening double chin staring back at me from PILs walls for the next decade. «sulks»

badguider · 18/07/2013 20:23

Awwww triple - I think it'll be lovely to have your bump captured on film. Think how interested your lo will be when you show him/her the photo where they're inside mummy's tummy.

Thanks Charl it's my home town Smile Gorgeous day for you to have been in Liverpool, glad you enjoyed it.

MammaGnomes · 18/07/2013 21:35

Wow only popped away for a day just took an hour to catch up :

Bear- not too far from Sh OH thinks I'm being silly and should stick with Tameside. Maternity ward has never had any bad press

Astro- where abouts in Tameside are you? When r u due??

Dorita - I'm the same re back pain. Starting to become almost unbearable ??

Had the grand total of 4.5 hours sleep last night! Went up at 10.30 the last time I looked it was 3.00am people were right when they say your body gets ready for sleepless nights

JammyTummy · 18/07/2013 21:41

I may, or may not have, just lost my temper a little bit and blame it on the preggo hormones... The local post office pipe band was just having its rehearsal this evening (they are on the other side of our garden wall), but what usually happens inside was going on outside, as I suppose they were too hot to drum and blow indoors. So after an hour and a half of being extremely tired and hot, lying on my bed listening to them 'perfecting' their bag pipes I got up, got dressed and waddled over there to politely enquire when the bloody hell it was going to end and could it maybe do so indoors... Blush I feel bad now... I think the last thing they expected is an angry preggo turning up at their practice.

Kittenkatzen · 18/07/2013 22:22

Thanks badguider that makes sense. I'm taking Spatone, might up it to 2 a day like weebarra, try and shift the tiredness a bit (although sure the 5.45 starts and long commutes don't help!)

triple I'm sure it'll turn out lovely, just don't forget your face powder Grin

jammy I think you we're perfectly justified in having a pop at them - off key bagpipes really can't be anyone's favourite noise and it's definitely way to late in the evening to be outside practising - how inconsiderate!

Kittenkatzen · 18/07/2013 22:23

weebarra and other ladies taking more than one iron supp/day - do you take them all together or spread them out over the day?

frogchops · 18/07/2013 22:34

I haven't started my three times daily iron yet, I'm still preparing myself for horrendous constipation Confused
And errr what's spartone? Blush

SGJ · 19/07/2013 06:28

Jammy, sounds perfectly reasonable to me! Our chavvy neighbours' 5 and 7 year old kids were still outside on their trampoline screeching at 9.15pm last night and I wanted to do exactly what you did, only I didn't have the guts! Plus, it's not even school holidays yet, must conserve my rage for when they're out until 10.30pm...

MrsMangoBiscuit · 19/07/2013 07:02

kips, it's www.childcare.co.uk

Jammy, when pregnant with DD1, next door but one had a band playing a live concert in their garden for a birthday party. I ended up screaming over the fence at them to STFU! Blush They probably feel more embarassed than you. I doubt they even realised how disturbing their practice was. I agree with Kitten, perfectly justified (and far more polite than my response!)

RunningBear78 · 19/07/2013 07:19

Triple, if the photographer is any good they'll make sure you are all positioned to look lovely. Relax and enjoy it as much as you can ...easier to say than do I know!

MammaG true, I guess you can only really judge how confident you are based in the care you've had so far. Also, do look at the details of what they have been put on special measures for and how they have reacted.

Spatone is a liquid iron supplement, it is in water and you take it with orange juice. Being liquid rather tablets it doesn't have the same constipation effects which can be better. It is a bit pricey, but worth it! I take feroglobin liquid two or three times spread out through the day with meals when I remember! I defo haven't got constipation issues at the mo, pooing for Britain Blush

frogchops · 19/07/2013 07:42

Have just looked up this spatone on boots...they sell normal iron supplement ones which don't specify a flavour so I'm guessing j could put them in orange juice ?? ( does if make it taste crap??)
Or they sell apple flavour, which I'm guessing you have on its own ...anyone tried these?
Do you take iron tabs as well as these?

PurplePoppySeed · 19/07/2013 08:52

LCR hope you're ok, I don't have GD so can't advise, but we're getting nearer the end now so hopefully it won't be too intrusive.

PurplePoppySeed · 19/07/2013 08:54

ps. Anyone who's had braxton hicks - what do they feel like? I had what felt like a stitch but on both sides of bump fairly low down - was just walking to the office with an empty wheely case ready to lug my laptop home, so I don't think I was doing too much?

Kittenkatzen · 19/07/2013 10:39

frog I have both sorts of Spatone (they were on 3 for 2 the other week!). The regular ones taste like drinking week old water out of a rusty tap....but fine in orange juice, can't taste at all. The apple ones aren't too bad, just taste like slightly metallic apple juice. I do recommend them, haven't had any of the normal issues associated with iron supplements.

purple I get that horrid stitchy feeling most mornings when I'm walking from the station to the office. No idea if its BH or just my body complaining about the exertion. Bloody uncomfortable though!

frogchops · 19/07/2013 13:08

Thanks kitten, I thought being as they were advertised as suitable for putting in juice that it was their way of saying 'tastes like crap in its own!'
I'll invest in some tomorrow. Do u take iron tablets too?

PurplePoppySeed · 19/07/2013 14:25

Thanks kitten that doesn't bode well for me doing the journey home 10 degrees hotted and with 2 laptops then! oh dear!

LCR77 · 19/07/2013 14:49

thanks purple doing ok now I've got my head around it. Saw diabetic nurse and dietician yesterday and have got to monitor my bloods over next week till I see a consultant.

Not as bad as I initially thought, couple of ladies on the FB group gave me some good advice. PLus having read posts on here from folks with GD has helped me feel more informed. As long as baby is ok, just have to do what I can to make sure she arrives safely. Although having to relinquish my daily ice creams in this heat is a challenge!

Held interviews for my maternity cover this morning, so pleased I was part of the process. My replacement seems lovely and feel confident she'll do a good job while I'm off. All feeling very real now though. Gulp! Only 17 days at work after today.

rake intrigued as to whether reverse psychology does work on uteruses!! I really don't want to go overdue too much so may test your theory and get stuff booked in. But with GD may be induced at 38/39 weeks anyway...

fl0b0t · 19/07/2013 15:08

mrsmango- I had exactly the same, tailed off pretty quickly though! Childcare people are KEEN www.childcare.co.uk I think it was!

Have people been told how their baby is lying? I'm 31+3 and baby moves sooooo much. Midwives haven't said, even when I asked, whether baby was head down/etcetc. I can only guess from poking hard lumps/ where I feel big fat "kicks" and where I feel creepy little fingers tickling me. When I was on the monitor at hosp last week, the strap with teh monitor was pretty low across lower abdomen, so I'm guessing from all that, head is low to the left, and baby is mostly transverse with legs sticking up into my rib cage on the right!

triplerock- I'm a photographer, and what I'd really want is the people I'm photographing to tell me if there's anything they're nervous of. Also, a good photographer will edit out all the crap (subtley) and make you look as good as you hope you look! And they'll pose you well so you're relaxed and happy :-)

jennimoo · 19/07/2013 15:18

Flo - ate you sure they didn't write baby position in your notes in 'code'? Only one I know is that something like cephalic is head down.

frogchops · 19/07/2013 17:18

Yest notes say 'ceph' the last twice I've had an appt. it means head down.

Readytosettle · 19/07/2013 17:25

Purple I raised the 'bump stitch' at my maternity physio class & they just told me I was prob walking too fast and that I need to listen to my body more! To be fair, now I've slowed down to snails pace I don't get it any more...as soon as I'm running late for an appointment it attacks me...i now have the preggo waddle down to a t!

Geesescareme · 19/07/2013 17:28

Fl0 your baby's position seems exactly the same as mine, and we are only a couple of days apart :) today I think I felt his mum pressing right under my rib cage on the left digging right under my bra. Quite painful! My midwife said that his head was down and when I asked if it would stay like like she said it might do, might not. There's lots more time to go until they are properly engaged (we hope!) so just keep asking every time you go to the midwife :)

Kittenkatzen · 19/07/2013 18:07

frog I just take the Spatone, no iron tabs

purple hope the walk home wasn't too sore!

fl0 my mw has made a passing comment about baby's position every time so far...does your baby get hiccups much? When mine gets them I feel it right down in my pelvis, which matches up with the mw saying baby is head down (or at least that's my assumption anyway!)

jennimoo · 19/07/2013 18:25

I'm missing not getting hiccups in my bump this time :( I had forgotten about the fact it helps you tell their position, I found that too with DD. I'm kind of glad of no hiccups though as DD used to get them as a newborn which was a little annoying...
