Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I've only spoken to the lady that ran my antenatal class about it...she advised it was prob mild pgp when I had trouble walking up and down stairs. I'm not getting it now, just pain at base of spine/too of bum when I get up or roll in bed.

LCR77 · 17/07/2013 20:20

FFS! After lovely scan and reassurance everything fine got a call to say I have gestational diabetes. After discovering rhesus -ve and having various PGP issues, this is the straw that broke the camel's back. Need some words of wisdom from those of you who have GD. Feeling really fed up. Really glad my employers are understanding as this will be even more time off work for appts..

MrsMangoBiscuit · 17/07/2013 20:21

Bippidee, vests and sleep suits. Sleeveless or short sleeved vests (with envelope necks in case of poonami) to wear under footed sleepsuits. I prefer the suits that have the built in, fold over mitts, but it's just my preference. A couple of long sleeved vests can be useful for under any cute outfits you get given. Also a couple of hats and cardigans, unless this fecking heatwave is still hanging about!

With my DD1, newborn stuff wasn't long enough for her, she was in 0-3M for a few weeks. I don't think this one will be as big, so I will be doing as someone else suggested and buying some newborn vests and suits, keeping them in the bag with the receipt, just in case.

No idea what work you're having done, but there's plenty of time till mid-August.

Dorita75 · 17/07/2013 20:34

weareboatsremember I?m tired! It?s a bit later for me, 9pm (I?m 31+4), by then I?m ready for bed.

Runningbear I?m finding sitting in a chair in work is hurting my bum mostly, particularly ?ouch? when I stand up. I?ve got a foot rest and been told to sit right back in my chair and have the back moveable with at least 2 finger widths between the edge of the seat and the back of my knees ? that was something to do with my thighs taking weight rather than my lower legs (and ankles) I think. Also got the exercise ball info tonight at the antenatal class, good for keeping your pelvis open. I?m not sure when this becomes more important, certainly is for labour. I?m going to get a ball to sit on at home though and after reading what people have said on here, maybe take it to work!

Bips some advice I've had from 'mother' friends re hospital bag was take different sized baby vests/baby gros not just newborn, take lots of maternity pads (not just big sanitary towels) and dark bottoms to wear in case you leak, baggy clothes for going home in, baby blanket, breastpads, bottles & milk if you're not breastfeeding, nappies again couple of different sizes not just newborn...you can google a list of things, these are more insider tips!!

MrsMangoBiscuit · 17/07/2013 20:57

What have I done?! I set up a profile on a childcare site so I could look for childminders while I'm off. I started getting messages from local childminder's with availability, so I updated my profile to say I'm still pregnant I won't need childcare till August NEXT YEAR. My messages have now more than doubled, and people are sending me their phone numbers! Shock

weeblewobbling · 17/07/2013 21:55

I have cankles....I feel like my legs will explode! !!!

frogchops · 17/07/2013 22:13

Although I was a bit smug about having my completely painless wc jab earlier, the jokes on me now that I've realised having it in my right arm means I won't sleepConfused. I've been unable to sleep in my left since the beginning and sleeping on my back hurts. Not so smug now!

WaggyBlueElf · 17/07/2013 22:24

Me too weeble - they feel horrid! Been sitting with them up all evening but no relief yet.

I've been having scary dreams as well - one where baby was stillborn, the next night he was ok but I had no milk and couldn't feed him. Woke from both feeling pretty shaken. Fingers crossed my subconscious has worked out its issues and will spare me any more.

Is anyone else as disorganised as me? Still not bought anything and I'm 34 weeks today. We're visiting some friends who've said they'll give us loads this weekend though so once we know what we've got from them we can start shopping. I just hope he doesn't arrive early or we really would be in trouble!

twintrimum · 17/07/2013 22:36

I hope you sleep ok frog & it's not too bad in the morning.

Me too, weeble I keep using ankle sprain bandages on them to try to get the swelling down but then I have puffy toes and legs either side for smaller ankles which look really daft!

kipsonline · 18/07/2013 09:34

Cankles here too :( and bulging v veins now to join them. Legs in this state would not normally see the light of day but it is TOO HOT to consider trousers!!

kipsonline · 18/07/2013 09:35

Oooh mango, I need to do the same, which childcare site did you use?!?

Mooster1709 · 18/07/2013 13:30

YY to elephantine legs. So uncomfortable. Also massive swollen fingers.

andadietcoke · 18/07/2013 13:48

No swelling so far but I have cankles anyway so probably wouldn't know the difference but I do have what was diagnosed as carpal tunnel syndrome in both hands which is agony, especially at night. Bump still numb though, but my stretch marks are actually breaking the skin. Pregnancy is awesome (not complaining)

frogchops · 18/07/2013 13:55

I'm a bit alarmed by my lack of interest in Internet shopping. I think its because I've pretty much bought most things and so there's not much to look for, and I've also obliterated the next/mothercare/kiddicare/debenhams sale already.
I never thought this would happen!
Also I'm noticing that when I have a day off....at 2pm ish, I need a little nap. Blush I haven't even done anything today, so I feel lazy, but I'm seriously pooped! Confused

weebarra · 18/07/2013 14:39

Midwife appt today at 32+5. Had to take both boys as DS1 had finished for the summer so surprised my BP wasn't through the roof!
She told me I'm anaemic though and that this one's going to be a biggie - measuring 35 weeks. At least I know I'm having a section but some of the newborn stuff might have to be returned to the shops!
For the other ladies on iron, what was your Hb count?

RunningBear78 · 18/07/2013 15:55

That is it. I literally have ONE friend left who hasn't either had a baby in the past 6 months or is currently pregnant. The one left is planning a 2 year drive through Africa & India so I'm hoping she doesn't get pregnant any time soon! Totally bonkers. Bloody babies everywhere. I think we need to get busy building some primary schools or something ...

CharlW1 · 18/07/2013 16:39

Fab day out in Liverpool shopping and relaxing near the docs - those of you who live near are so lucky - such a lovely city!

JammyTummy · 18/07/2013 17:00

Starting to get a little nervous.
First of all, bump has had quite some growth spurt over the last couple of days! I was asked yesterday if it was twins and have generally been getting the [reaction] by people (what! 7 weeks still! Goodness).
Then my friend mentioned yesterday she reckons my bump has dropped, which I thought was nonsense until I got a proper look at it today at h&m changing rooms. It is hyaaauge and it does definitely look lower! Is the whole 'bump drop' a real thing?!
I've also had a pretty dodge tummy and lower back pain today which I've not had before.
Can someone please tell me that this baby is not coming before I've had my hall repainted and repapered??

RakeABedOfTyneFilth · 18/07/2013 17:36

bump drop concept is definitely real. But head can drop in and out of pelvis so isn't necessarily the beginning of the end.

I have been setting up more and more work/social things in the final weeks of August that would be impossible to do if baby comes early or on time. Basically 'playing chicken' with my due date and daring baby to be overdue. Does reverse psychology work on uteruses???

jennimoo · 18/07/2013 17:44

Bump 'drops' as head engages. But that doesn't really mean anything in terms of baby arriving!

Saw doctor about SPD today which wasn't very helpful but she did measure and prod my bump which is now measuring right and head down and central :)

frogchops · 18/07/2013 18:35

Weebarra, my iron level was 10.3 and mw wants me to take 3/4 iron tabs each day :-/

Kittenkatzen · 18/07/2013 19:10

My iron seems to be counted differently to you ladies - mine was 107, and should have been 115 or over. Anyone know the conversion?

runningbear very Envy of your friend's 2 year driving adventure, sounds amazing!

So are we able to tell if baby's head is engaging? Can you feel it? I've had some weird pressure feeling when I stand up recently - could that be it?

weeblewobbling · 18/07/2013 19:26

Had a lush massage at spd referral today!
Got to buy a belt tho....

Not much physio on pelvis today but treatment for back was wel received

badguider · 18/07/2013 19:41

Kitten - I think it's a factor of ten difference. So 107 is same as 10.7 and 115 same as 11.5

Mine is 125 and is good. I think this is same as 12.5.
My units are g/l I think the lower numbers are g/100ml

weebarra · 18/07/2013 20:05

Mine was 107 too. She's prescribed 2 tabs a day. Funny, as it never went below 120 with the boys. Explained the massive tiredness though.
