Thanks Fozzie, am self employed and first bub so no idea when is a reasonable time to start chilling out slightly!

twintrimum · 06/07/2013 22:35

Cheese - I start 3 weeks of hols at the end of next week then mat leave from 5/8 with likely induction of the little wrigglers by 20/8. Hospital suggested I planned to leave work about 32/33 wks which I thought was too early but now I'm nearly there I am definitely ready for it. Colleagues having one seem to have left from about 36 weeks (possibly with holiday to start with).

Thanks for the link. I'm starting with disposables then wanted to look into other options but had no idea where to start.

have set up 'nursery corner' in our bedroom, lying here in my pants feeling hot, and the gro-egg I switched on says 24.9 and is glowing red...

Spent most of today in our north facing extension off the kitchen which remains pretty cool in the hottest weather, had friends round for dinner and happy sounds of our three kids playing.

Tomorrow morning I have to go to help sell stuff at a car boot sale and I am not looking forward to it at all :-( it will be 26° by noon and reach 29/30° by 4pm according to my weather app.

Starting to envy you Mat Leave ladies a little... I am working to the bitter end as DH is around at home to do all the nesting and make everything ready, plus I will only be taking 6m off and want it to be all baby time. Been buying more cute stuff on ebay though... latest favourite scandi brand is 'Molo' - truly wacky prints!!

andadietcoke · 06/07/2013 23:33

runningbear yep, leaky nip day here too. I have two enormous boxes of pads that a friend left for me a few weeks ago if you just want to take a few to have on stand by - mine seem to have dried up again since this morning.

juniper9 · 07/07/2013 01:00

I've had leaky boobs for about a month now- I end up with big crusty patches on all of my tops, and if I squeeze
I can milk on demand. Kind of gross. Righty is a lot more reactive than lefty.

I hate wearing bras at home too, so I either have to have a crusty top or I have to cope with a bra. Saying that, I think the fabric rubbing on them is making them leak more.

jennimoo · 07/07/2013 06:31

Cheese straw - have you ordered your wipes? If not night be worth hanging on as said on Facebook they're planning a sale when they reach the next milestone of likers of their page.

MrsMangoBiscuit · 07/07/2013 08:58

It certainly is hot, isn't it. DD was involved in a village carnival yesterday, which involved walking behind the float for 2 hours. Thankfully my lovely lovely SIL and her DH were there with their DSs too, so they kept an eye on DD and I got to go sit down with a cold drink. My feet were so swollen by the time I sat, I looked like the Michelin man from the knees down whenever I flexed my ankles. :(

No leakage here, but I didn't last time. Had no issues with supply either, so I also doubt the two are linked.

I will NOT be doing my pelvic floor exercises this time round. I did them religiously last time, and perhaps over did it. I actually have to focus on relaxing if I want to wee. Blush Mind you, I think I prefer that to weeing whenever I laugh. Grin

And finally, after weeks and weeks of being busy with work, DIY, family events, days out etc, we are having a day off! DD actually let us all sleep in till 7.50, and is now happily playing lego with DH. Hottest day of the year so far, and I get to sit on my arse, sipping drinks with my feet in the paddling pool. Rake, I hope you land a nice shady spot, with a good breeze, and that you sell out of everything really fast!

weebarra · 07/07/2013 09:51

I've not had leaky boobs at all and didn't with previous DCs. Thought I might this time as had only stopped bfing DS2 a couple if months before my bfp.
I'm finishing up at work on 7th aug, taking a week holiday, then mat leave from 20th. Due date is 7th sept.

frogchops · 07/07/2013 10:07

Currently obsessed with googling the stats around wether first babies come early or late. mainly after lots of people ask how far gone I am and follow it with 'oh in 4 weeks time I'd got my little one' :-/
When my mum was expecting me, I came 31/2 wks early so also wondering if its hereditary.

weebarra · 07/07/2013 10:10

frog - just thinking back to my first NCT group 5 years ago - 9 of us.
1 was 6 weeks early, 1 4 weeks, 1 2 weeks. DS1 and one other came on their due dates and the rest were late.

jennimoo · 07/07/2013 10:14

My nct group were mostly early but that's unusual! I think 41 weeks is 'average' for your first. I think I have a fun graph around somewhere of likelihood of arrival by week... I'll post it to FB if I can find it...

MrsMangoBiscuit · 07/07/2013 10:25

DD1 turned up 1 or 2 days before I was due to be induced, but they had put my EDD earlier than I thought as she was so tall. Going by my own EDD I think she was only 5 days over. Pretty certain that all my friends/colleagues who've had babies recently have been late. Mostly with first babies, but one with her 2nd. I agree with jeninmoo, 41 wks sounds about right for a first time average (from my own miniscule pool of data!)

frogchops · 07/07/2013 10:58

So, going by jennis lovely graph does that mean 70% of babies are born on or before due date? Confused/morning/Sunday/sun intake Blush

Derpess · 07/07/2013 11:03

Hi all
No leaky nips here yet!

Twintrimum- I'm expecting twins too and finish work on 19 July. I've got 4 weeks annual leave then mat leave starts on 20 August. I should find out on Tuesday when I'll be induced/ having a section as I'm having my 32 week scan then (although on Tuesday I'll only be 31 weeks).

In terms of finishing work it can't come soon enough! Everything is sore and uncomfortable now.

Hope everyone has a good day.

badguider · 07/07/2013 12:03

41+1 is the most usual date to go into labour naturally if you're white and 1st time. African and Asian women slightly earlier.

So far nobody in my preg yoga has given birth before 41 (but we are a self-selecting group of healthy and mobile women with fewer than average risks or health issues).

twintrimum · 07/07/2013 12:57

Hi Derpess

Great news about your twins. I hope you have been well throughout the last 7 months. I have nothing to compare it to but it hasn't been the easiest experience! I have my 32 wk scan next Thursday (at 32 +1) but I didn't know that's when we'll talk about birth options. That would be great. Our hospital tour is this afternoon.
Let me know how you get on next week & good luck with the scan.

Derpess · 07/07/2013 15:27

Twintrimum- it's been up and down a lot, like you I have nothing to compare the experience to as its my first pregnancy. That's probably a good thing!

I'm booked in to see the consultant after the scan and make decisions about the birth. Everything depends on the position of twin 1 at the scan. I think I probably will have to have a c-section as they are both transverse at the moment. I just want to know for definite so I can start preparing myself!

Good luck for your scan too.

Dorita75 · 07/07/2013 19:46

Cheese I'm finishing on 16th Aug for 2 weeks leave, then start maternity on 2nd Sept. EDD 14th Sept.

I've just bought some littlelamb nappies on ebay! Saw my friend a week ago who explained how these reusable nappies work and even though I'm not sure we'll stick with them the whole time, we now have enough to give it a good go. Got disposables too so all bases covered Grin

Love the dream, was it frog? I'm dreaming every night but nothing about the baby.

Anyone with a low lying placenta got their 32 week scan coming up?

CharlW1 · 07/07/2013 21:06

Yes Dorita I've got mine on Friday. I went for a private scan 3 weeks a ho and she said she thought it had moved but said they couldn't really tell until an internal scan was done and then last week I went for a NHS scan (growth scan due to having gestational diabetes) and she said she suspected it was still low lying as she couldn't see it so I guess the scan on Friday will tell me for definite. When is your scan?

KamikazeeKid · 07/07/2013 21:47

32 week placenta check this week at 32+4

Mooster1709 · 07/07/2013 22:04

YY to leaking nipples - have had for a while now, but read somewhere that it happens more when you're hot, so might explain things too...

I'm not starting mat leave until my due date, but if 41 weeks is average for first then at least I'll have a week!

Kittenkatzen · 08/07/2013 07:15

Morning! Just back from a lovely weekend in the Cotswolds, can't believe how fabulous the weather has been! Hope everyone's managing to stay cool and avoid the dreaded puffy ankles!

The enormous red splodge on my arm from the WC jab has gone down a lot this morning which is good as there was no chance of me wearing long sleeves to work today!

No leaky nips for me just yet - although I do have very attractive white spots on them which dr google assures me is something along the lines of plugs in the end of the milk ducts

Off to catch up with all your news now Smile

frogchops · 08/07/2013 07:18

I noticed on my 4d scan papers that my placenta had gone from anterior low to anterior high, but nothing was said about it.

frogchops · 08/07/2013 07:22

Oh and yes it was me with the dream.... Last night it was a dream about me coming home every dinner time to meet DP at home for a quick session before going bk to work Blush
Great dream, lol Grin I think its probably my subconscious realising how lacking we are in the frog house in this department Hmm

CharlW1 · 08/07/2013 07:27

That's good news Frog if it's gone to high - do you have another scan soon to double check?

I have just looked at my calendar and gave a baby prep filled week - tonight is NCT breast feeding class tomorrow is my last NCT meeting, Wednesday is midwife, bloods, dietician and doctor, Thursday is Hypno birthing and Friday is scan to check placenta so busy week!
