Hi all! Seems like everyone has had a nice weekend with the exception of puffy ankles!
It's been absolutely roasting here too, and I got so fed up of wearing jeans (and constantly having to pull them up) I went to look for a maxi dress. Got one from M&S holiday section in a size up, and it's total bliss! No itchy bands, nothing slides down, and best of all- braless!!!
I've not had any nip leakage yet, but my right one has started feeling a bit funny today, so I'm wondering if something is about to happen!

badguider · 08/07/2013 11:33

My nipples really haven't changed at all, I can't imagine them leaking.

They are probably a bit larger, but as my breasts are SO much larger this isn't obvious... they are not darker (as my book says they should be) and no other changes/leaks etc...

Hoping that they will still 'work' when required?? (am 31+4 today)

I have no clothes at all for hot weather! Wore some shorts yesterday and a vest top, all pre baby so very tight around bump, so looked utterly ridiculous so glad only dh was around to see me!

Don't want to buy anything new really or least not expensive and body shape looks weird in a maxi dress. Any suggestions would be welcome?

jennimoo · 08/07/2013 11:54

I bought a couple of jersey type dresses in big sizes in matalan on Friday: £5 each!
Weren't too bad as they were/ with vest under but I shortened the straps and took the top part in a hit on the sewing machine...

JammyTummy · 08/07/2013 12:01

Question on names- DH and I are still firmly in disagreement about a name for our little girlie and I'm starting to fear that one of her first experiences of her parents is going to be the two of us falling out in hospital about what to call out daughter.
My real real favourite right now is Lara, but DH is not really warming to it. I know he quite likes Sophia, which I like too, but a little bit worried that its on quite a lot of 'top names' lists right now. Do you know many little Sophias? I'd hate for her to be one of three in her class!

CharlW1 · 08/07/2013 12:09

I know 2 Sophia's both born recently - it is a lovely name though but I do love the name Lara. I only know 1 Lara and that's someone I work with.

LCR77 · 08/07/2013 13:12

jammy right there with you on the names conundrum for our little girl too! Not helped by the fact DP hasn't given it much thought and I always have to bring up the discussion.

Had my heart set on Iris and have done for years but DP not keen. I don't like his suggestions either - Emily and Olivia. Perfectly lovely names just really popular. For same reason I've crossed Ava and Isla off my early shortlist.

The only name we've agreed on so far is Etta. Also Luna but agreed poor girl will just get the nickname of Looney at school! On the plus side we have middle name of Antonia after my granny.

flipflump · 08/07/2013 13:30

Fozzie, I can't recommend H&M basic t-shirt dresses highly enough. Not mat wear, regular line. I've had a few compliments, even though I'm going for comfort not style. They come in loads of colours, light material, look like a giant t-shirt with little breast pocket and ribbon round waist (or what would have been a waist) they were £7.99!!!! My bump is massive and these dresses don't look stretched at all.

frogchops · 08/07/2013 14:06

No charl I wouldn't have even known it ha gone high if I hadn't had a 4d scan. There was no routine scan to check so it couldn't have been a concern.

EmmaDee · 08/07/2013 14:46

Hi all, hope you had a good weekend. It was actually sunny as well in Northen Ireland so had two loverly days sunning myself with friends.

I have a question as i am freaking out . I had my blood tests for 28 weeks done on wednesday (2 tubes) the mw told me to phone the surgery today to get the results. However when I rang today the receptionist told me that there was a note on them saying I must speak to the nurse. Of course she doesnt work today so I have to wait til tomorrow morning. Ugh. In work now silently panicking, what are the blood tests for? Am I just being over the top? This happened to anyone else? Confused

frogchops · 08/07/2013 14:58

Emma I'm willing to bet its to organise some iron tablets. They do that in my surgery and panic me to death when its something boring. Iron levels can drop lower as weeks go on so maybe u just need a bit extra

flipflump · 08/07/2013 15:05

Agree with Frog, my iron came back low at 28 weeks too. Try not to panic.

frogchops · 08/07/2013 15:09

Although having said that, it can back apparantly low at booking and they did the whole panic 'speak to nurse' thing and gave me iron tablets. Then on my next mw appt she told me it wasn't that low and to not bother if I didn't want to take them (I complained of constipation, which was due to tablets) so I'm expecting mine to be low again this time...I'm waiting for results.

badguider · 08/07/2013 15:10

I think they test iron, sugar and rhesus status so it'll be iron tablets, checking how your body is dealing with sugar in pregnancy or you needing the anti-D if you are rhesus negative.

Another vote here for the h&m t shirt dresses, really comfy and with tying the 'waist' bit round the back makes them look quite shapely with a bump.

Also dh bought me a gorgeous mamalicious dress recently, elasticated under the boobs ...although quite low cut!

Thanks for the nipple updates (!?) I only have slight leaks when I squeeze post showering, but I was hoping it meant they'd work for milk production, fingers crossed they do. I don't think the nipples have changed much at all, just the boobs getting massive. The book I have has pictures of a lady with terrifying huge dark nipples in the last tri so hoping that doesn't happen!

On the name front,a cousins daughter is Sophia and a good friend is Sofia. I think it is getting quite common, I wonder how many Sophies are around by comparison!?

Why does there seem to be so much more choice of interesting/pretty/meaningful girls names than boys? So unfair.

Mooster1709 · 08/07/2013 15:42

Jammy, Lara is lovely. Was on my list too (mainly because of Dr Zhivago) but DH not keen. Sophia v nice too, but there do seem to be quite a few around.

And Iris and Etta are are lovely too, LCR. May have to start rethinking my name list...

Off to second antenatal tonight. I wonder what bolloc*s we'll be peddled this time...

These h&m dresses sound like an excellent plan, but going into h&m gives me the full-on rage.

JammyTummy · 08/07/2013 15:56

I've had a good look about and realised quite how common Sophia has become so I think it's off the cards again. I think I'm going to go into radio silence on names until the baby comes along, and if she looks like a Lara call her that convince DH into it. Hopefully this way he doesn't think about it enough to dig his heels in!

JammyTummy · 08/07/2013 15:57

Ps really like Etta!

frogchops · 08/07/2013 17:47

I love Sophia and Lara was on my girly list too. I could name a girl so easily...but my boy is proving more difficult.

Kittenkatzen · 08/07/2013 18:33

Agree that Lara is lovely, in fact out chosen girls name should bump happen to come out pink is a variation on Lara. Boys names are SO much harder we're finding. We've narrowed it down to two syllables, with a geeky cool feel, and can't start with an "N". So that should make it easier Hmm

Iris is also gorgeous and not too popular, at least round my way...

Dorita75 · 08/07/2013 18:56

Charl mine scan's on 26th July, I feel like ?something? has moved but think that?s just the baby ? kicks have gone from being at the sides to being more central so assume it was lying side on at some point?! Had a panic this weekend, hardly any movement from Friday night to last night and all the advice about only being concerned if the movements are different to usual just made it worse. Was at the point of calling the hospital when the baby started moving last night and again this morning (the most active times) and proceeded to kick away all morning in work - must've just been having a rest!

I?ve not had any nipple leaks, I?m wondering if I should squeeze to see what happens!

I don?t know any Sophias at all ? come and live in Liverpool Jammy and you?ll be fine! I love Iris, and Lara but we?re the same, we have some girls names (Lily, Anna) just not the boys.....

Joskar · 08/07/2013 20:22

Iris is gorgeous! I love it. Def on my list. I completely agree about the boy names. We have none. None. DH doesn't think we need any because he's convinced it will be a girl. I feel like that's maybe a touch foolhardy.

Re: Sophia/Sophie

I'm a teacher and I have taught quite a few. I'd say usually at least one in each year. But I also think there is a reason that a name is popular and that's because it's lovely. Just go with something you like rather than on popularity.

CharlW1 · 08/07/2013 22:18

I love the name Iris too - so pretty.

I have just come back from NCT breast feeding class and I can honestly say it wasn't preachy in the slightest - lots of information and where to get support from but at the beginning it was madevery clear that breast feeding is a choice and you don't gave to do it if you don't want to - over refreshing from what I have heard other people say about NCT and breast feeding.

fl0b0t · 08/07/2013 22:21

Iris is a great name. Love slightly old fashioned names!

runningbear my nipples have doubled in size and are almost black in places and have been.since about 16 weeks. Also slightly leaky.

Good weekend away but got a bit annoyed at being overly mothered (smothered) by a friends mum. I have known her since I was six but still a bit annoying. Good intentions much appreciated but I can happily walk a few miles let alone the ten minutes I wasn't "allowed" to!

Two other things (possibly more!) TMi time... Anyone have much increased... ERM.... Discharge? It's no fun and now I've got some kind of heat/sweat rash in my nethers! Yuk!

Hillarious predictable conversation at the weekend:
Friend: have you thought about names?
Me:yes sorted but secret!
Friend: oh, you can tell me....!
(i refused in a nice way)
Bit later, talking about someone she knows
Me: oh I like the name Ralph!
Friend: You cannot call your child Ralph!!!
Me:can you now see why we're not telling people our chosen names...? Hmm

What else?
I measured myself today and found my hips, tummy and boobs are all 40inches exactly! That amused me!

I am 30 wks tomorrow! That feels like a crazy big milestone. Going to start birthing preferences (plan) nd thinking about a hospital bag at the weekend!
