Lie = Your glowing vs Truth = Your sweating, freezing, puking and an emotional basket!

Lie = After the first trimester your ms will disappear vs The truth = It will be there in the second trimester and the third..... and probably after you give birth! Get used to it!

Lie = You don't look even look pregnant vs The truth = whatever, you look pregnant from space!

Lets see what we learn from the second trimester! Grin Wink

Fail not feel.

farmersdaughter · 06/07/2013 21:10

Bloody hell...fell, must of bashed my head on the way down Grin

enormouse · 06/07/2013 22:22

Hey ecc another one who fell down a set of stairs. It was at DPs parents about 34 or so weeks. I tripped and ended up on my arse and couldn't get up again. Luckily there were 2 dogs and 3 cats to see it. Dog 1 (Archie) Sat with me and refused to leave and dog 2 (pippa) got my DP. I was scanned and all was fine, still terrifying when it happened. I think babies are pretty well padded in there.
Make sure to get plenty of rest like farmers said.

extracrunchy · 06/07/2013 22:54

And me! Around 25 weeks I think, just properly stacked it in the street, flat on my front. Old couple walking behind looked at me, tutted disapprovingly and walked on! Midwife was very blasé and said I'd be fine but to ring if I had any bleeding and they'd scan me. Don't worry too much, ecc - baby's pretty well protected in there, especially at the moment while it's so little.

So Westfield was a waste of bloody time. 100s of shops and they only had Mamas & Papas (way expensive and a bit meh), Debenhams (really tiny selection on one rack, all a bit cheap - funny fabrics, and nothing caught my eye) and Topshop (got a pair of questionably short maternity shorts). Wandered around for ages Grr. Apparently H&M only stock online, Next only stock online, and M&S maternity is on Oxford Street and I don't wanna! Waaaah... I just know if I order online nothing will fit.

Anyone else finding being warm a lot more challenging than usual? I know it's only early days (15 weeks today!) but today felt like a huge effort.

ALSO my dream job just popped up online and I reckon I'm well qualified for it, but it's full time. Love being a mum and v excited about number 2 but sometimes have very confusing moments when I think "shit, there's no going back now - will just have to wait a few more years" and then I feel like a terrible person Sad

Sorry this is long and "mememememe"... I am SO grumpy. Humph.

enormouse · 06/07/2013 23:09

extra There's nothing to stop you applying for it. If it is your dream job then I say go for it. If you get it, just go from there. For me it'd be worse not to apply and think what if?

re shops - Do any of those places do free returns - I think asos and new look do.

And yes?I can't bear this heat! I can't keep the window open either as the pub down the road is doing karaoke and I've already sat through a ropey version of suspicious minds and wind beneath my wings. I think a cold shower and an ice cream are in order.

extracrunchy · 06/07/2013 23:24

Hahaha Suspicious Minds AND Wind Beneath My Wings! Jackpot. I have major wind beneath my wings this evening. Poor DH.

Thing is even if I was offered the job I don't think I could send DS to nursery full time. I know lots of perfectly happy families and DCs who do but it just wouldn't feel right for me. And DC2 would have to go to nursery much earlier with same problem... Might apply anyway though and hopefully they'll say no! Or yes...

Good point re free returns. It's just ANNOYING though! And going on holiday Friday so may have left it a bit late. Wonder why it's so hard to shop in real life for mat clothes. Maybe they think we're too pregnant to get off the sofa and shop... they might have a point.

Sleepthief · 07/07/2013 06:10

H&M don't only stock online - it just depends on the store. The H&Ms in both Bromley and Bluewater have good maternity sections, if those are at all handy for you.

Sleepthief · 07/07/2013 06:13

BTW, this is my 4th and in all my pregnancies I have dressed entirely in Topshop and H&M... (Even though I am well old Grin)

extracrunchy · 07/07/2013 07:06

I really like H&M stuff! Not especially close to either of those though... Topshop I also like but feel like I can't pull most of it off! You must be much cooler than me Grin

Naturegirl82 · 07/07/2013 07:49

Hope you're feeling ok today eccentrica, that fall must have given you an awful shock.

12 weeks for me today. Whoop. Can't wait for my scan tomorrow. Keeping everything crossed everything is fine. Grin

MrsVDB · 07/07/2013 07:57

extra I find lots of shops do clothes that would suit a big bump that aren't maternity. H&m have got some cotton dressses with an elasticated bit under the boobs which are very comfy (only £8) and Dorothy Perkins have quite a lot too.

Scan today! 11w+1. Hope we can see lots. Wish me luck :)

TobyLerone · 07/07/2013 08:03

Good luck, MrsV!

Good luck for tomorrow, nature :)

Has anyone seen pod for a couple of days or have I missed her?

I'm wide awake, despite having stayed awake til 1am last night. Going to MIL's for a bbq today. Hopefully she'll let me watch the tennis cos she loves me :o

Penny31 · 07/07/2013 08:08

Morning all!

excentrica sorry about your fall, I hope you are ok.

I too am struggling with clothes. It's boiling hot and I literally have nothing that fits! I had to wear leggings under an extremely short dress yesterday and was sweating. Grrrr

TobyLerone · 07/07/2013 08:22

I know. I'm dreading going to this bbq today because I have no idea what to wear.

Also, things keep biting me. I never get bitten. DH reckons I'm extra-delicious :o

Mac2014 · 07/07/2013 08:29

Haven't been on for ages ... Catching up but can't remember anything. Baby brain has kicked in for sure.

Had scan last week, all fine but scary - there really is a baby in there and life is about to change mahoosively!! Also have fibroids and a cyst, which is why the bloat looks bigger!

Went shopping yesterday ... Ended up buying loads of maxi dresses from Primark ... One size bigger, working fine for now and some mothercare maternity skinny jeans that don't make me look like I have a huge arse (I do, but all others I tried made me look like I had corners not hips!)

Went into London for dinner last night, had to stand on a packed last train home... I could see a few people do the 'Is she pg or fat conversation' and couldn't be arsed to get into conversation with drunk sweaty people so turned my music up. I will now be wearing v tight clothes to accentuate my bloat so a seat is automatic.

Hope all are well... Sorry for the drivel about me!

Sleepthief · 07/07/2013 08:30

Ha, yes, very cool me Wink. Those are just two of the nearest H&Ms to me that I know do loads of maternity wear. The law of averages suggests there must be some nearer you too Smile

If all else fails, I think H&M on Regent's Street has some. Worthy trying to avoid online as their delivery is so random and although you can return in store they'll only give you a credit note...

Westfield IS crap for mat wear - was at Shepherds Bush last week and only Topshop had anything apart from a couple of depressing offerings in New Look.

ASOS is definitely worth a go (although I've found none of their own brand clothes seem to suit me). Free returns and no great rush to do so. Reasonably priced too.

It's rather telling that my biggest contribution to these threads has been about clothes... Blush. But in my defence I think it's important to find at least some things that make you feel good at a time when your body shape is changing so radically! I had lots from the other three, but as I wasn't planning to have any more babies I got rid of everything!

Sleepthief · 07/07/2013 08:36

And yes, H&M normal jersey vests, tops and dresses are great both for pregnancy and for layering afterwards if you're planning to breast feed.

I don't actually work for them, I swear Blush

TobyLerone · 07/07/2013 08:50

Maxi dresses are great but they're so bloody long! I'm 5'4", so not tall, but neither am I ridiculously short. I bought a maxi dress in desperation from Matalan the other day and a good 3" of it actually sit on the floor when I'm wearing it Angry

DH's friend's gf told me yesterday that Asda now do them in different lengths, so I may give that a go.

Sultanajo · 07/07/2013 09:32

Good luck today mrsv!

What a horrible shock eccentrica! They are so well padded in there - hope you are feeling more relaxed today (easier said than done I know....)

Loving the chat about clothes. Dhs friends came over for dinner last night so I wore one of the only tops that fits me at the moment and my mat jeans. Well, what with the heat of the oven and hob, the washing machine and the sun, I was sweating buckets, but was too embarrassed to go and change, so when I was washing up I threw water down myself deliberately which gave me the excuse to change into light weight linen trousers, which are a bit tight but much cooler! I dont know what to do now because there is nowhere close that sells mat wear, but buying online is gonna be so dodgy....may have to give it a go though as getting desperate!

Toby I too am 5ft 4, so struggle with lengths....

eccentrica · 07/07/2013 09:47

Wow, so many clumsy people Wink Thanks so much for all your messages, it is very reassuring to read them, especially those of you who also fell flat on your front like me - extracrunchy that sounds terrifying, glad all was OK Smile

I am still feeling a bit shaken today but no problems physically. Might go to the walk in centre and see if they'll listen with a doppler to reassure me,

On the subject of clothes, in my last pregnancy I lived in those cotton dresses from H&M, the ones with the string under the boobs. I couldn't bear to wear them again afterwards though! She was a September baby so I was very pregnant at this time of year, and managed to avoid buying any special maternity clothes.

I also got totally sick of black leggings under everything - this time I am going to stick with sundresses for the summer, then going to invest in some maternity jeans when it gets cooler again.

Frogcatcher · 07/07/2013 11:11

I'm glad everyone else is having clothes issues. I've just sobbed my heart out when nothing fitted this morning. Going on hols in 2 wks & will have to buy a whole new wardrobe. I never thought I would get this fat this quickly & it's really upset me. Can you tell it's my first?! DP trying to be sympathetic but failing.

Naturegirl82 · 07/07/2013 11:33

I'm not looking forward to buying new clothes. I'm fairly lucky that my dsis has kept everything from her pregnancies for me, so I received a box full of clothes through the post this week. Enough to see me through my holiday at least.

I've been a bit silly this morning. Tried to stay in bed and get a bit of rest but it just meant I ate late and now feel awful. Need to go food shopping as well. Sad

Sultanajo · 07/07/2013 11:54

Bless ya frog I know how u feel! Gonna see if our local matalan do any mat wear today....

nature oh dear! Have made that mistake myself! Really hope it doesnt linger all day and u make it round the shops!

Well DH and I are off for a swim in a mo! Cant wait to get in the pool to hopefully cool off a tad! Think will be sleeping downstairs tonight as upstairs is like a sauna!

Naturegirl82 · 07/07/2013 11:59

Right going to brave the shops and hopefully get back in time to slob in front of the tv to watch the tennis. Wish me luck.

enormouse · 07/07/2013 12:19

Argh I am so pissed off.

Texted my driving instructor to confirm today's lesson and he informed me that owning to my last minute cancellations he has given my usual slot away. They weren't last minute I informed him I was pregnant, struggling with tiredness and potentially a danger to other drivers so it wouldn't be the best idea for me to be on the roads. When I had felt awful for a few days I cancelled letting him know several days in advance. Last week was the 2nd time I had ever done it and I assumed I would have my usual slot today. He informed me an hour ago as per his terms and conditions/trying to run a successful business etc he had given my slot away. Despite having assured me in person that if I felt terrible I could let him know and we'd cancel the lesson.

Sorry for the epic speech I'm just so angry about this and DP says he's being perfectly reasonable. I just feel somewhat discriminated against and furious in a way only a pregnant woman can be. And on top of the shitty week I've had its just the crowning turd in the water pipe.
