That's what they say falcon - buy your usual size but bigger cup size. I knew it and totally forgot but, luckily, the lovely lady in Jojo Mamman reminded me. MoN says her experience was different though...
I hope my boobs won't grow massively now... as I have room for one more cup size not more. Crazy crazy buying breastfeeding bra so early I know...!

bowlfull I spend a small fortune on food so won't even say how much per week Blush. It will definitely have to go down once I stop working... organic stuff is the main culprit...

I'm loving this weather so much... can't get over it. Everything is looking so much better when the sun is shining! This is what 17 years in the UK did to me - I go slightly crazy with joy when it's warm and sunny :-)

My tummy has been very itchy the last couple of days and I feel like I've grown a lot over the last two weeks... no dreaded stretch marks yet but, at this rate, I sort of expect them and examine myself every day...

claphammama · 10/07/2013 15:20

and yes bowlfull I made the same comment to DP the other week. I feel like the price of food has doubled over the last few years... I can't put my finger on what exactly went up and how much but it's crazy now... and I rarely eat meet, lots of vegetarian dishes, so no idea how much it would be if we had meat or fish every day

MotherOfNations · 10/07/2013 15:31

Clapham It could just be that my ribs have always been in a weird position as I never saw them until my 20s as I was severely over weight up unti then.
They seem to protrude quite a bit and I have a roll of flab there that never goes no matter how much weight I lose or how much exercise I do.
I feel that if the two sides of my rib cage were closer together it would help my appearance a lot.

GTbaby · 10/07/2013 16:07

We have our scan on growth Tuesday Grin a lil worried about it tbh. But the baby was in a bad position and everything will be fine. I know it will be.

Weljel at 100 bras Shock I have a lot from rigby and pillerBlush treated myself at time of my wedding. All new undies and clothes. Blush Small fortune and a lot of which doesn't fit any more.

Jelly there are loads of budgeting threads to read thro when you have a min. I think good budgeters buy toiletries/cleaning products once a month. Then have meal plans. And limit top up shopping to milk/bread.
No matter how much I try, DH won't abide by meal planning. Even if I try we often get to 5pm with still no ideas.

Rest time.

I probably spend about £120 - £150 a week for the 5 of us. Supermarket shopping is so expensive

FeministInTraining · 10/07/2013 16:24

I can also recommend the bra guru site for fitting advice. When I measured myself using their method (leaning forward with no bra on to measure is quite amusing!) I came out as the same size that DM (boob expert) fitted me in. Also, rather than buying bras that are a back size too big, have a look at a bra extender- on eBay for a couple of £ Bras tend to loosen up after a while especially if you're like me and are washin and wearing the same 2 that fit Hmm so at least you can take out the extender at that point and still have a well fitting bra. That's the plan for me anyway!

Happy birthday to Textbook and yes yes yes to the wee issues!

FeministInTraining · 10/07/2013 16:27

Bra extender was in reference to expanding ribs, somehow I got carried away thinking about my poor over washed bras!!

TheFalconsmistress · 10/07/2013 16:41

Thats including toiletries too bowlfull some weeks we don't even have that much to spend! I buy my washing gel for clothes from the pound shop 28 washes for a £1 after reading it on a thread here I was cautious as Ds is allergic to surf and persil and some other cheapies but this stuffs great gets everything clean and smells lovely!
I buy any treat toiletries when dh gets paid make up, hair dye cleanser and moisturizer but only because i have expensive taste when it comes to all that!!!

Umlauf · 10/07/2013 16:51

Hehe bowlful mostly i just prance around the house in them and do the ironing on my days off pretending to be a Hollywood housewife!

I have no idea how I managed to get that far. Its sooo hard to turn them down cos they're so pretty and were so cheap!! 50p when they sell at £30-£40 odd!

But I have a serious shopping problem and find it hard to turn anything down Blush at the moment its scarves and shoes as of course clothes are doing nothing for me!

claphammama · 10/07/2013 17:13

back from my 25 weeks appointment - all good and measuring 24cm. I told GP about all your measurement dramas and she said it's very approximate and all just an intelligent guess so we shouldn't worry if we are 2-3 cm off.

I still have to go back for my letter for the airline arrrgh!!! I'm flying in 3 weeks so she wouldn't give it to me now.

R&P!! how glamorous gtbaby. lovely

umlauf I'm afraid I can only imagine you ironing in your bra now... :-)

Wickedgirl · 10/07/2013 17:22

Umlauf.....where do you store them all? They must take up a huge amount if space.

ananikifo · 10/07/2013 17:23

Happy birthday textbook!

I'm currently in the soft cup, wireless bras that come in a 2-pack for £5 at primark. I think I bought them one week before a payday when I was desperate! They're nothing special but they're not any worse than the mothercare ones (2-pack for £30-ish) I had before.

JellyCurls · 10/07/2013 17:37

28 week appointment and bump measuring 26 weeks at a push, baby lying in a position that meant she couldn't find heartbeat couldn't be heard clearly. Lying across tummy with back facing out she thinks. Well she got something and said it was babies heartbeat but didn't have usual whoosh sound. Baby was booting her though so she doesn't want to see me for another 6 weeks. Bit concerned about this but not sure what I can do. Was so looked after with dd as she has SN and with ds as he came after dd so were worried about condition passing on. Now I feel a bit abandoned, can someone tell me I am being neurotic?

TheFalconsmistress · 10/07/2013 18:07

Sorry cant tell you your being neurotic jelly as i would be the same, All i would suggest is calling mw at hospital and say your worried?

textbook · 10/07/2013 18:07

Thanks for all the birthday wishes everyone Grin I'm having dinner cooked for me by dp tonight, and driving dd to gymnastics, so a reassuringly normal day. Went out for dinner last weekend (and had a delicious glass of merlot) which was lovely, and been booked by dp for a maternity foot massage at Champneys in Chichester on Monday next week which I'm really looking forward to.

I wish I had 100 bras - I currently have 2 and am bored of washing them...

roofio87 · 10/07/2013 18:17

Happy birthday textbook Wine

I've got very swollen feet today, but not worried about them. I'm not surprised with the heat and my extra weight!!

Sephy · 10/07/2013 18:21

Good to be reassured, thanks clapham.

Looking forward to hearing about legoland, Natalie. Being stuck inside at work is making me really really look forward to maternity leave - obviously it'll be horrid and wet by then, but I can still dream it'll be a nice September, right?

FeministInTraining · 10/07/2013 18:29

Maternity massage sounds like a lovely present Textbook and I hope you have a lovely dinner. And I too am washing and wearing the same 2 bras, living the glamourous life with you Grin

GT I've now decided I want a Rigby and Peller bra once I've stopped breastfeeding. Will tell DP it's your fault!

We spend about £200 a month on shopping for the two of us but end up having takeaways or eating out a couple of times a week. Eating out includes at parents, we're not that flush unfortunately!

Jelly you probably have nothing to worry about but I would feel the same and it's always worth having a word with your midwife to see if you can pop in for her to have a listen when baby is in a different position. Just to put your mind at rest.

Soupqueen · 10/07/2013 18:29

Happy birthday textbook

jelly, I'm sure there is nothing to worry about, but I would too. I would call tomorrow, I'm sure they'll be happy to reassure you.

I have a growth scan and check of bloodflow tomorrow due to my blood test results at 12 weeks. I was calm about it, thinking it was precautionary, but stupidly was reading on the premature births board on here and lots of them had my blood test results and then IUGR.

Re shopping: we don't have a car (really don't need one in the city) so once a fortnight I do an online shop for heavy and bulky things like toilet roll, detergent, cat litter, cat food. That varies between £40-70 depending on how many stocks have run low. Fresh food, I buy frequently from a local organic shop and don't really keep track of spending, probably too much! I do meal plan though and am veggie so only occasional meat/fish for DH. I don't seem to buy toiletries very often, just as I need them but I'm fairly low maintenance.

I think I'm going to have to go bra shopping on Friday. Think I've gone up another back size, so uncomfortable! Wish I could find cheapish ones in big sizes (currently 36G so I'll need bigger Sad )

Natalieand · 10/07/2013 19:28

Blimey you ladies do like to chat!

Lego land wasn't too bad. My feet were burning after a couple of hours and by the last hour my bump was hurting all over the place but overall a nice day had by all. Thanks ladies x

Bras, well I just have a black and white one from asda and wash them a rediculous amount of times, can't remember who said they are re washing about 3 maternity tops but I am doing exactly the same and I also have two pairs of maternity trousers (identical to each other) that I wash all the time so I must look like I live in the same clothes lol

Food shopping- I spent £80-£100 a week including top up shops and toiletries and cleaning stuff and there is no way I could do it for less and that's at asda and tesco mainly

On route home now probly a healthy macdonalds for dinner chill on the sofa for an hour then bed for a good nights sleep hopefully

Hope everyone else had a nice day xx

OrangeBlossom2 · 10/07/2013 19:45

That was a silly thing to say and then not want to see you for 6 weeks, of course you would worry jelly. Not unreasonable at all. Maybe call again tomorrow and say you are worried, just for some reassurance if nothing else.

Ooh pregnancy massage sounds good!

I ache everywhere today, can hardiy lift my left leg so been hobbling. Typical that was pretty much fine at physio appointment yesterday. Sorry to whoever it was having a long wait, mine was remarkably quick, maybe I filled a cancellation. I had to wait months for previous hospital things.

We spend a fortune on food. It is the only thing we really spend money on and we both enjoy cooking and good food. I am vegetarian and cant eat egg or milk, DH eats everything and likes meat/fish so we end up buying extra. I also decided to go organic when trying to conceive and first twelve weeks at least. Cut back a bit on that now but still for most things if I can, especially flour, milk, meat or veg particularly high in pesticides. We also shop at Waitrose because that is what is nearest to us and ocado delivery because they have lots of the vegan products I need and I got sick of tesco delivering a week of shopping that all went off the next day, or substituting carefully chosen foods for random things like fish paste that I can't have. They are a bit more pricey though. We plan meals now which saves money and wasted food, but top up shops for lunch things always cost a lot. I reckon we spend £100 a week just for the two of us including toiletries/cleaning products etc. definitely an area to cut back on when I no longer work.

OrangeBlossom2 · 10/07/2013 19:48

I bought a pack of bra extenders in three colours from John Lewis for about £6 I think to turn my 28F bra from early on into something wearable now my ribs are more like a 32inch size. Really good idea.

My midwife suggested getting fitted for nursing bras at 36 weeks, she said you won't know exactly what size you will be but you won't want to go bra shopping once the baby arrives.

tuckingfits · 10/07/2013 19:49

hi all, just popping in to say that I have bought a couple of bargainous nursing bras (couldn't see the point of getting unsupportive maternity bras & then forking out again for nursing ones, like last time). I got a hot milk one (£26.50) from nursingbra-shop.co.uk and an emma-Jane one (£22) that I was dubious about but is very comfy & supportive from figleaves.

Worth sharing,I thought!

tuckingfits · 10/07/2013 20:15

The hot milk one is beautiful. I can't believe I got such a bargain & as soon as I can afford another I shall be splashing the cash because I am so impressed. I ordered 4 bras, all in the same size - 2 fit perfectly & 2 didn't,one was waaaaay too big (Playtex) and one too small with no support whatsoever (carriwell).

Am on my break at work. I'm starting maternity leave mid-August because we still have a bedroom to build & stairs & other structural things to finish before new baby comes - dp says he can't do it at the moment because I am at work & he has sole charge of our son. As my pgp is so bad,it suits me to finish as soon as possible. Some days I'm fine & others I can only move like a little old lady.

I know I'm miles behind with all these updates but I kind of gave up for a while, felt overlooked but am prepared to put that down to hormones. I do like keeping up with what everyone is up to.

27+3 today & people keep commenting on how big I am. Well, fuck me,I'm growing a baby. I'm not likely to be shrinking am I?! And to tell the truth I have only put on 7 or 8lbs so far so they can all keep their opinions to themselves. Sorry for the swear but felt it necessary to express myself adequately.

I have low anterior placenta & my detection of movements is still hit or miss. I used a Doppler last night to make sure there was still a heartbeat in there,i was a bit concerned after work. It's so so hot at the moment & i also went to my first "aquanatal" class on Monday night - I'm really unconvinced it was aquanatal - the leaflet said it was,but i was the only obviously pregnant person there,it was a full-on aquafit/aerobics class. Not the sedate & relaxing gentle swish about in the water i was expecting. I felt like I'd run 10k at the end!! I think i might just take myself off for a gentle swim once a week if that's really what aquanatal is all about!

tuckingfits · 10/07/2013 20:16

Do hope I haven't killed the thread!!
