I just used the bra guru to give me a starting point of what to buy cba going to the shop in the middle of Edinburgh. I have went up one back size and 4 cup sizes by the look of things away to buy a 40GG!!!!!

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 10/07/2013 12:07

Glad all went well pink - you definitely deserve a custard slice after the vampire treatment. I'd second the leaning forward tip (I lean forwards and then slightly backwards a couple of times and it can help).

Sorry to hear you are waiting so long for an appt Wicked

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 10/07/2013 12:08

Oh Falcon - where do you find the bra guru - is it on style & beauty somewhere?

MotherOfNations · 10/07/2013 12:27

Having a scan again on the 28th Pinkbuttons. I've had more scans this pregnancy than in the other 4 put together. It's always good to see my wee bundle though and to know that we're being looked after.

Happy birthday textbook.

claphammama · 10/07/2013 12:33

shire beware that your ribs will go back to normal after birth so you would probably find that 38 or 36 will be too big if you are normally 34. I wouldn't spend too much on bigger sizes.

I actually just bought my first breastfeeding bra!! stupid at 25 weeks I know but it was 50% off and such good value (I can't believe how much they can cost!) and it's such a lovely lace Elle MacPherson design... I simply had to. A bit tight on my ribs but I know they will go back to normal and I have room to grow another cup size... naive? fingers crossed :-)

also managed to find a lovely dress, shorts and tankini for my upcoming holiday. so pretty pleased with my lunch break!

glad all went well pink

warlin same here with wee... leaning forward definitely helps

TheFalconsmistress · 10/07/2013 12:39

Its a blog page with fitting advice recommended on style and beauty if you pop the bra guru in google you will get it :)

Umlauf · 10/07/2013 12:42

ooh how quickly do you ribs go back clapham? is it with weight loss or the birth that does it? ive gone up 2 back sizes too. Going to Brqvissimo for nursing bras on Weds, its too early but the only time im in the uk.

claphammama · 10/07/2013 12:46

oh you are testing my memory now umlauf... I remember it was quite quick... I want to say max. 1-2 weeks... but the lady at Bravissimo will definitely be able to advise so just ask her.

it's not weight loss. Your ribs stretch as your uterus grows and the baby makes them go wider. once there is no baby and your uterus is empty they go back to the original place!

TheFalconsmistress · 10/07/2013 12:56

ah so a soft cup in my usual 38 would be better just with with bigger cup size then clapham?

Umlauf · 10/07/2013 13:07

Ah thank you! Sorry about the lack of spelling/grammar was on my phone.

Happy birthday textbook what have you got planned?!

And have an amazing time on your hols flyer was is Greece or Spain you were off to? Can't quite remember!

Hw are you all coping with the heat? I'm not! Staying in doors and drinking my body weight in coke and then feeling terribly guilty about it...

BowlFullofJelly · 10/07/2013 13:15

I'm so terrible with my bra's - have just been wearing my 36C nursing bra's left over from DS since about 10 weeks (probably why my boobs are in a terrible state Grin).

Random and off topic - have been doing and redoing my budget for maternity leave, and have a question for you guys about grocery shopping. I see lots of threads on here about people spending £50 to £60 a week for a family of 4, and shocked faces at people who spend £100. Now I don't spend £100 every week, but certainly spend more than £200 a month for a family of three currently, with top ups it's probably around £400 a month. So in theory I understand I should be able to reduce this to £250, but practically what does this look like? Weekly shop at Sainsburys at the weekend was £104!!!! - included a few toiletries and pet food, but not loads - and meat for only 4/5 nights. I do buy some value and own brand stuff, look for offers etc - so not really sure where I am going wrong.

Sorry, this is very dull so free free to ignore Smile

Smitten1981 · 10/07/2013 13:16

Tommy Tippee Lidl update nothing in my store. I did grab a huge bar of Caramel Dairy Milk for 89p though - result.

MotherOfNations · 10/07/2013 13:19

My ribs have never gone back. I think that's what's causing my "B" shaped bump as I am really flabby where my ribs used to be. I want a "D" shaped bump like everyone else.

Umlauf · 10/07/2013 13:26

Hmm bowlful I'm not sure, we spend about ?80 a week on just the two of us, and we eat lunch out instead of taking it with us so spend more than that really. We do always have something in the trolley that's not food though, cleaning stuff, toiletries, house stuff, maybe the people on those threads are discounting all of that stuff?! And we buy a lot of fresh vegetables which cost a lot.

I really bloody hope my ribs go down. I may be outing myself a little but before we moved to Spain I worked for Bravissimo! And I got a LOT of underwear in the sample sales for about 50p a bra. Let time I counted I had over 100 bras and over 30 bikinis, loads of which are really amazing expensive ones. Obviously there is no way I can afford to replace all of them, so I am counting on getting back to my original size somehow! It would actually be cheaper for me to have a breast reduction than to replace half of my bras - can you believe it?! And now I'm living in just one bra!! Washing overnight!!! I'm going slightly insane over it.

(So I really should be able to answer my own question about the ribs clapham shouldn't I?!! Wink haha) I used to parrot off the lines about pregnancy and boobs without actually taking them in, and now I need all that information!!

Shirehobbit · 10/07/2013 13:26

Thanks for the tips - especially regarding ribs, clapham. I guess my disproportionately short back (just shy of 5'2" but with 31" inner leg) means there is less room for things to grow in my torso, so my ribs were being pushed out pretty early?
I just hate the 4-boob look I get as I grow out if each one that's too small Blush

TheFalconsmistress · 10/07/2013 13:55

bowlful we spend 60-65 a week for 3 of us and that aldi and a bit of asda and the fridge is empty again come friday morning but sainsburys is too expensive for us.

eg 4 pints of milk in aldi 79p
4 pints in sainsburys 1.30
hovis bread in aldi 75p
hovis bread in sainsburys again around 1.30

funkky · 10/07/2013 14:00

Happy Birthday Textbook Hope you have a great day....

I am struggling a bit with hip and Coccyx pain, I saw a private physio earlier in pregnancy and while she gave me lots of tips on exercises to do, she spent most of the hour staring at me naked from different angles, felt so uncomfortable and think it was just to while away the time as no proper relief given.

Can anyone recommend any antenatal type DVDs or stuff online, my hospital have nothing available before due date and DH and I (more DH getting paranoid) are a bit clueless. I think we'll go with the flow, but it will be nice to have some info. NCT classes in my area are +£250 Shock.

roxvox · 10/07/2013 14:13

Same here smitten ... Bugger!

funkky we are having problems finding classes too, so I bought this DVD set second hand on eBay for a couple of quid. I've only watched the first one (on breast feeding) so far, but it was very informative and I feel like I learnt a lot! I'd like to go to classes really just to meet other mums-to-be!

thethreeblondies · 10/07/2013 14:18

We spend about £65 a week for 4 of us although DH sometimes buys himself food for work, he works permanent nights and can't always decide what he wants me to get him, I tend to do a couple of small shops a week mainly Asda occasionally Morrisons as dog likes their food! I tend to buy a lot of the offers and plan meals around them as I'm wandering around, I'd imagine we would spend more if DH was home every night and expected more for tea than me and girls eat (lot of pasta based meals!) I have started buying more smart price things as costs have gone up, crisps and biscuits I can't notice much difference than branded.

roxvox · 10/07/2013 14:33

bowlfull DH and I put £400 a month into a joint account between us, and that gets used on weekly food, toiletries, cleaning products etc (everything we can get at Tescos basically), but also on meals out and the occasional random joint purchase. It's very rare that we will use up the whole £400, but I can safely say that we are never far off it! Top-up shops are definitely the worst. They somehow seem to total up to a similar price to the main weekly shop!

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 10/07/2013 14:41

Just back from 28 week antenatal appointment - heard baby's heartbeat Smile, GTT test result was normal (had been rather worried it wouldn't be, I measure 27/28 weeks, and was given info on the whooping cough jab.

Best of all the midwife was lovely and has arranged a consultant's appointment for me to discuss birth options and my prolapse. Probably very little to discuss but at least I'll feel I have done my best to minimise further damage.

As a family of 3 we probably spend about £100 a week on our food shop - but that does include pretty much all our toiletries, cleaning products etc and DP takes a packed lunch into work every day too.

Must read all the bra advice - I'm clueless

favellio · 10/07/2013 14:55

Happy birthday textbook Thanks

pinkbuttons · 10/07/2013 14:58

Glad all is well bridget

Think we also spend about £80 a week for the 3 of us at the moment including top up shops but even that seems like so much. DH wants us to cut back on spending but I honestly can't see how wed so that without him being hungry. Will be looking out for everyones tips.

BowlFullofJelly · 10/07/2013 15:04

Those that spend £60-65 a week - is that including household and toiletries, or just food? I tend to do all shopping at Sainsbos or Tesco as they are the closet - nearest Asda/Lidl/Aldi's are all about 10/15 miles away - which in London is about an hour each way. I need to meal plan, I know I do. It's crazy how much food has gone up. I probably spent about the same in supermarkets 10 years ago - but then trolley was full of finest goodies and lovely booze - now it's full of baby wipes and value tinned tomatoes!

Umlauf - 100 bras??????????? What the hell do you do with them all?

Glad appointments went well bridget and pink. I like these bursts of excitement on the thread where everyone starts going for scans/appointments at the same time.

Shootingstarsandcomets · 10/07/2013 15:08

I think we spend at least 80 a week on food for three of us. I would like to spend less but seems its impossible.
I need new bras too but hate maternity and nursing bras so much that I keep putting it off.
Currently parked outside my house in desperate need of a wee but ds is napping in his car seat so I have to sit here a bit longer aaaargh!
