Sympathies to all those that are struggling to sleep I seem to fall asleep rly easily but wake up 3 times to go to the toilet so always feel exhausted even with my sneaky afternoon napnuve been having.

Have an amazing time away flyer!
Also have my 28 week appt this morning so will see if I get measured and join in the worry Im sure.

I cant remember who it was that was discussing getting travel insurance in pregnancy. Did anyone find one that covered you after 28 weeks? Have been offered to go to a family home in France when Ill be 31 /32 weeks. Would be lovely because DH is away with work but not sure how feasible it is.

Have fun at legoland natalie think its meant to be a little bit cooler today so hopefully not too unbearable.

claphammama · 10/07/2013 08:32

same problems here... woke up exhausted at the crack of dawn. We recently exchanged the previous owners' nasty and thick curtains for lovely roman blinds. The problem is that roman blinds let in more light on the sides... not enough to wake me up but, once I wake up, it feels so bright that I'm convinced it's 10am when it's only 5am. Arrghh!!!

good luck today pink

flyer I can't imagine you not being nice to someone... and your airline crews are usually very nice. I've travelled so much for work, at some point as often as once a week, that I now also have some strong opinions about most airlines!!!

JellyCurls · 10/07/2013 08:46

We got insurance through tesco and when we said I would be 31 weeks on return flight they said no problem. Website says covered as long as traveling within carrier guidelines

textbook · 10/07/2013 08:55

Sympathy for all my fellow non-sleepers. It's my birthday today, I've been up 3 times in the night to wee, and now I'm on my way to work for a really busy day. Rubbish!

Warlin · 10/07/2013 09:04

Hi All

GT you're in the same boat as me but I have decided to ignore...I am happy with good heartbeat and lots of movement. I can't possibly see how that can be accurate unless the baby is perfectly out-stretched and head down. We have a scan in a couple of weeks so just going to wait and see.

Flyer have a great holiday. Impressive boobs! Mine are huge too.

So I'm going over to London on Friday to see my sister for the weekend. A little apprehensive as I'm travelling alone with 13 month old ds so will have a lot of baggage to lug around and a lot of hassle to get through (not to mention a toddler who won't sit on my knee for any length of time). I'm hoping the flight isn't full and I can get a free seat beside me as it makes all the difference. Still imagine it won't be pleasant in this heat. Anyway, I forgot to ask midwife for a note as BA request a dr or midwife letter if you are over 28 weeks. Phoned surgery who told me it takes a week to get a drs letter and they can have it for me for next week???? Explained that wouldn't work and anyway midwife has agreed to write me one and send it to another surgery in my area for collection. Not convinced it will actually happen and I suppose I have left it quite late but really...a week to write a one letter??? Grrrr

I took the dog to the beach last night and was walking at snail's pace. Sometimes I'm fine and sometimes I really struggle. The poor dog kept running on and then running back to find me with a "would you hurry the f**K up, I want a swim" look :)

Hope everyone survives another hot day

Natalieand · 10/07/2013 09:20

Morning all,
Thanks pink just leaving now which I'm glad were leaving later than planned as it means less time on my feet lol

Happy birthday textbook hope I have a lovely day (even if it is at work)

Sorry to all those not sleeping well but I'm with I on that its not actual insomnia for me just a rediculous amount of toilet trips x

Smitten1981 · 10/07/2013 09:28

Boo, not sleeping is the worst. I'm ok at the moment, touch wood. Although I did manage to wrench my neck at the weekend drying my hair - no idea how I managed to do so much damage, it's agony when I wake up every morning as my neck and shoulders are so stiff.

I'm back to feeling sick today though, the wrist bands are back on, chewing gum is on constant supply and the fizzy water is within reach. Hope it's just a blip and not the return of the nausea I had in the first few months. Urgh.

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 10/07/2013 09:30

Hee, Hee Warlin - I'm getting exactly the same sort of looks from my dog Grin

There are some wooden steps on one of the walks we go on that I'm now painfully slow getting up - doggy bounds to the top in seconds, and then stands there watching me struggle absolutely incredulously it can take anyone so long!

Hope the letter you need comes through in time.

28 week appt today - will report back on whether I'm measured. Hope it doesn't matter that I'm technically 27+2. I'm going to ask about the whooping cough jab, NHS antenatal classes, water births....is there anything else I've forgotten?

Surprised at how few antenatal checks I'm having this time. If, fingers crossed, all is well, don't think I'll have another appt until 34 weeks.

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 10/07/2013 09:35

Textbook - Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Textbook, happy birthday to yooooouuu x

Ah, Smitten fingers crossed it's a one-off and not the return of the horrible dreaded morning sickness. My nausea came back recently but, thankfully, it disappeared again after a couple of days.

claphammama · 10/07/2013 10:15

happy birthday textbook!

smitten hope you feel better soon. For me lack of sleep really triggers nausea, even when not pregnant. Perhaps you just need some rest and make sure you drink plenty of water. Dehydration can cause nausea too

Oh dear... I wanted to take advantage of this lovely weather and working from home today to wash the baby car seat and buggy covers... it needs some refresh after 4 years in storage. I am now dreading that, like flyer, I won't be able to put it back on.... I was so careful taking it off and am trying to wash it in parts to remember where everything goes, but there is already one mysterious piece I have no idea where it comes from... sigh

Sephy · 10/07/2013 10:22

My 25 week appointment just now was nice and straightforward though I'm only measuring 22cm (she said 21 at first, then redid it) at 25+3. Now wish I'd asked her about it some more to check if she's concerned.

Still, a growth scan already booked due to BP at 28 weeks, so I guess they'll have a better idea of problems then.

Hope others' appointments today go well!

Natalieand · 10/07/2013 10:41

MoN I keep meaning to Ask you (hope you don't mind) but does baby's heart condition pose a risk to her whilst in the womb? Or only after the birth? If that makes sense xx

TheFalconsmistress · 10/07/2013 10:49

Morning,

Happy birthday textbook Flowers

Have a good time at legoland natalie

As for a ridiculous amount of wee trips this is me too along with slight nausea is back too i imagine its all to do with extra hormones or baby squishing my tummy!

MotherOfNations · 10/07/2013 10:58

Only after birth apparently Natalie. There is a small chance that the pulmonary artery can shrink which will make her condition more complicated.
I read a few days ago that an Olympic snowboarder has the same condition so I suppose that's encouraging.

TheFalconsmistress · 10/07/2013 11:11

When is everyone going to get nursing bras, I am am mix feeding if i can i have decided after a few weeks but like flyer my boobs have exploded is it worth going to bravissimo getting measured for the next few weeks or just getting a sports bra till then? I am currently not wearing any at all Shock

roofio87 · 10/07/2013 11:29

falcon my sister suggested 38 weeks for a nursing bra. they will accommodate for you growing when the milk comes in so I'm sure they're quite.generous with sizes. my sis was trying to think of something she could buy me that no one else will and said she'd give Me money towards a couple of good nursing bras which I think is a great idea!!

after not putting on any weight for weeks and weeks this weekend I've managed to gain 4lbs so I'm quite pleased with that!! have a feeling I'm going to pile it on now I'm in my 3rd trimester!!Grin

Shirehobbit · 10/07/2013 11:41

I ended up with some John Lewis nursing bras around 20weeks, mainly because they were the only ones I could get to fit/feel comfortable on the night I went shopping.
I've been hunting for a non-wired strapless bra for a bit and just ordered a bandeau thing from Amazon that is highly recommended.
I'm braving the Trafford Centre again tonight, as I've grown more and need to find replacements. I'll buy whatever is comfortable again, nursing or otherwise.

Shirehobbit · 10/07/2013 11:45

I guess I'm going to end up with a whole range of different sizes by the time I'm actually breastfeeding! Started as a 34B (previously a 32C when a bit slimmer) and so far, I've had to buy 34C, 36C, 36D, 36DD and I may have to try some 38s tonight Shock

roxvox · 10/07/2013 11:46

Happy Birthday textbook!

I saw that someone had posted earlier (different forum for deals, not always baby related) that you can get the Tommee Tippee cold water/microwave steriliser at Lidl for £5 at the minute (RRP £20 I think). I am going to work from home this afternoon so may pop to Lidl on my way home and see if they have one in stock. Thought I'd let you all know in case anyone was looking to get one!

Warlin · 10/07/2013 11:47

Ha ha bridget it must seem strange to our poor pooches that we are so slow all of a sudden :)

Happy birthday textbook

I sleep ok but always seem to waken with a leg cramp. I am also running to the toilet all the time but then can't go when I get there..does anyone else have this? My wee comes out in the slowest trickle when I'm dying to go! So annoying. I think the baby must be blocking the pathway Hmm

falcon no bra? My boobs would be somewhere round my knees if I did that Grin. Last time I bought maternity bras and one good nursing bra. Glad I didn't spend more as I didn't like the lack of underwire in my maternity bras so only wore them at the very end and then didn't bf for that long. roofio great idea of your sister's as nursing bras are expensive.

pinkbuttons · 10/07/2013 11:53

Just back from my midwife appt. all is well. Apparently the fundal height is very individual and in this area the hospital make a graph for you depending on your age, height, ethnicity and original BMI. They didnt do this in oxford so I dont have one yet but thought it might reassure some people that its not always 1 week for 1cm. I guess thats why theres so much variation.
Had to go through full booking in again with energetic DS in tow and have 5 tubes of bloods for my 28 weeks and all original bloods and thyroid! am definitely treating myself to a custard slice this afternoon!

Hope nausea is just from tiredness or baby being in an awkward position smitten

Thats interesting about the snowboarder MoN all sounding more and more positive. do you have another scan soon?

Smitten1981 · 10/07/2013 11:56

roxvox I have this afternoon off and Lidl is on the way home so I'll definitely pop in and have a look.

The nausea has eased slightly, probably the wristbands, I'm dropping the dog off at the groomers at lunch then I'm going to try and have a nap this afternoon as I'm so tired all of a sudden. Snore.

pinkbuttons · 10/07/2013 11:56

Forgot to say Happy Birthday textbook have you got plans for after work?
and warlin I have the same problem with going for a wee, have been told to lean forward to help empty bladder. Hope that helps a bit.

Wickedgirl · 10/07/2013 11:57

27 weeks today, and less than 3months to go.

I have been waiting for 4 weeks now for a physio appointment. I have had a letter so I know I'm on the waiting list but every day is more painful than the one before. How long has everyone else had to wait?

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 10/07/2013 11:58

Warlin - I've got exactly the same frustrating wee thing happening. I also find I sit down - do a tiny slow trickle - stand up and then immediately feel the need to sit back down again to do a tiny bit more.

Another one desperately in need of new bras here (tbh I could also do with new knickers and more maternity wear full stop - at the moment I keep washing and wearing the same 3 tops in rotation)
