Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Chicken I think once you start potty training you should never go back to nappies, can send mixed messages but it depends on the pre school policy. When we trained dd the nursery were great and happy to keep dry clothes for the inevitable accidents. Kids tend not to notice or bother if other kids have accidents at a young age.

Natalieand · 07/07/2013 21:50

chickieno I have worked in a few nursery in in my experience its best to be consistent send him in pants and ask them to take him to the toilet every 20 minutes even if he isn't asking to go, if u put him in a nappy it confuse him just send in plenty of spare clothes its part of their job and they really are used to changing children who are training.

Happy birthday clapham hope u had a lovely day xxx

Roxvox when I had no movements at all and baby's heart heat was heard she said if the movements are still reduced or non existent inn a few days then to call again so I would say if u are still feeling very little by lunchtime tommorow then to contact your midwife so she can reassure you. Or (depending on the relationship/system is like in your area give her a text tonight)

I can't remember everything else I've read now

Well done on your clever seamstress skills to whoever altered their dress lol shire?? downside of catching up on my phone

I had my bridesmaid dress fitting today it needs taking in everywhere adjusting on the straps length taking up basically everything except the belly which fits perfectly ATM but the seamstress is going to let it out as the wedding is still 4 weeks away so theoretically I should have grown 4cms lol

Don't get me wrong I love the sunshine but I like it at more 18 degrees and cool nights lol xx
26 weeks tommorow and midwife appt :-)

Natalieand · 07/07/2013 21:52

Oh also roxvox I said I tried the cold drink thing and it didn't work she said in her experience it isn't that successful and the best way is to lay on your left hand side for two hours and should feel movement within that time period I like the idea although not sure i could stay awake if I laid down for 2 hours lol

JellyCurls · 07/07/2013 21:55

Rox I had a very busy weekend last weekend and then had 3 days of little movement. Since taking it easier movement has increased. Call midwife if you still having less movement tomorrow

claphammama · 07/07/2013 22:00

thanks so much for your birthday wishes everyone! X I've had a fantastic day although really overdid it today in this heat and my excitement so now half dead on the sofa and can hardly move. I sort of forgot I was pregnant and kept going and going and going... we had a lovely fete in Clapham Common and also another fete in Northcote Road. The entire road was closed, filled with stalls, food, kids activities, big screens showing tennis etc... really amazing. I really got frustrated today though seeing masses of people drinking pimms, prosecco and other lovely things... there was one stall serving champagne and oysters. Torture!! I am quite religious sticking to just one glass per week and I'm afraid I used my allowance at dinner last night. DS was so funny today - he thought the entire fete was arranged for my birthday and thought I had "the biggest party in the world". haha sort of!

roxvox I wouldn't worry if you still feel the baba move and it's the only quieter day. I have days when he goes crazy all day and days when I feel only a few kicks in the evening. It really varies a lot and it's still quite early for us.

chickien I was sending DS to the nuresry with no nappies and he never had any problems being embarrassed in front of older children. No trauma whatsoever. The nursery advised us to do it as otherwise they might go backwards or things could slow down a lot. I felt so sorry for them but they asked for it! Sounds like both you and jelly are on the right path.

pseudo I'm also dreading the tube journey tomorrow... I love this hot weather but London tube is a different matter...

Hope pinklady and cookie are both OK

Natalieand · 07/07/2013 22:04

Just said to dh some if the poor preggo ladies on my mumsnet have got to go on the tube for work how awful must that be in this heat then he reminded me that he took me to London for my birthday when preggo within as and we t on the tube then I remember feeling like I was gunna die after a 10 minute journey cos the weather was like this then too so I have to say I do not envy I poor ladies, hats off to u!! Xx

Natalieand · 07/07/2013 22:07

Sorry for my rediculous typo he took me to London for my birthday when preggo with dd

ananikifo · 07/07/2013 22:08

Clapham I'm glad you had such a nice birthday!

Roxvox My midwife actually said exactly what Natalie's did: try lying on your left side and waiting two hours. Depending on how anxious you are I don't see the harm in phoning the mw whenever you want. They'll probably be reassuring (in my experience at least) and they'll tell you how long to wait before you phone again or come in to see them.

There's a thread on the name forum where someone is choosing between Joshua (the name dh and I have chosen for our baby) and Joseph, and I'm watching it and trying not to be hurt that not one person except me would choose Joshua.

claphammama · 07/07/2013 22:08

It's terrible natalie... slightly better in the morning when it's a bit fresher and (most) people are still clean and freshly showered. A very different story at 6pm when... ahem... people are no longer freshly showered. My sense of smell is so heightened these days...

roxvox · 07/07/2013 22:13

Thanks for the advice everyone, I really appreciate it. If I hadn't felt baby at all today then I certainly would be on the phone to the midwife, but seeing as baby is still giving the occasional kick I will wait until tomorrow lunch time and see if things return to normal. If they don't then I'll give the midwife a call. I've got an appointment on Thursday with the MW, so if baby is back to normal tomorrow and I don't have reason to call her then I can at least still mention it to her on Thursday and see what she has to say!

Thanks again everyone, I am so glad I found you all Smile

Natalieand · 07/07/2013 22:13

ana don't be hurt by it, me and dh were looking up the name theo the other night and I said oh type in dd's name and see what that comes up with 'honey' and there was a thread ppl were saying things like 'at least she won't need to make up her own porn name' 'it's alright if she's a dog like my Labrador' 'if you call your child honey their oly destined for one thing' and I felt a bit like OMG what the hell have I done how can ppl be so cruel! But at the end of the day he's your son and its your choice and Joshua is a popular boys name as is Joseph. I happen to like both names and infact have had several dreams that bump is call Joshua for some reason lol xx

claphammama · 07/07/2013 22:19

If it helps at all ana I would definitely choose Joshua over Joseph :-) These things are so personal and subject to fashion. Choose what you like!

ananikifo · 07/07/2013 22:19

Thanks natalie. That's awful about Honey. People are such snobby jerks sometimes.

My bumps definitely called Joshua and I don't think I could change it if I wanted to. It's just his name now.

chickieno1 · 07/07/2013 22:23

Your birthday sounds lovely clapham. Really miss northcote road. Moved just over 6months ago and some days miss it loads. Can just imagine the pimms etc :)

Thanks for the advice re potty training. I agree about not going back to nappies but feel a bit guilt tripped by dh. He thinks I m pushing it but I feel ds is ready!!

Roxvox I would also make sure you re well hydrated esp if its very hot. If still concerned no harm ringing mw.

Meant to say earlier sanjifair that wedding sounded lovely

Natalieand · 07/07/2013 22:23

Alot of ppl commented honey was a dogs name when I was pregnant but then agen names like poppy daisy Tilly are all really pretty girls names but often used for pets so I thought what the hell I like it its not like I'm calling her strawberry jam or marmite lol. Will he be a Joshua or josh? All the Josh's I've ever looked after at nurserys/playground have been rather sweet little boys x

chickieno1 · 07/07/2013 22:24

Sorry cross posts

MotherOfNations · 07/07/2013 22:24

My neighbours screwed their faces up today when I told them we would be calling our baby Eliana and asked why I didn't call her Heather instead.
Whatever name you choose there will always be someone who doesn't like it but it's really nothing to do with them.

Natalieand · 07/07/2013 22:24

How old is ds chicki? If he wasn't ready then I'm sure he would have made no progress at all. Potty training can be bloody hard work even when they are more than ready and as a general rule boys are often trickier than girls to get into the swing of it x

Natalieand · 07/07/2013 22:25

MoN is there a particular reason they asked about heather or is that just a name they picked out of thin air?

chickieno1 · 07/07/2013 22:29

Ignore what anyone says about names

Dh s family didn't like our son s name when we told them, thought it wasn't traditional wtf??? Because they felt he should be named after his grandfather but that is not my tradition! Now no one even thinks about it. We re not telling them our thoughts re names this time..........although we have zero names atm :)

Joshua lovely name ana. Go with what feels right for you

chickieno1 · 07/07/2013 22:32

Ds is 2 and 10 months Natalie. Was waiting for summer to start potty training so might seem a little late. I had heard that boys were not as easy as girls though

claphammama · 07/07/2013 22:37

haha that's so funny MoN. I had the same reaction from MIL when I told her DS1 would be called Leonardo. "Leonardo? Why not Jonathan?" I thought it was hilarious. I ignored everyone not liking the name and planning to do the same this time too. (once DP and I agree on it which seems next to impossible right now...)

natalie there was a dog in the park called Oliver today... and I'm quite sure it's not a traditional dog name...

chickien I had no idea you lived here only 6 months ago! Wow! I also love it here. Such a perfect place if you have children. Are you on our facebook group? We took a great photo of Northcote today from the top of a massive slide by Bolingbroke.

JellyCurls · 07/07/2013 22:37

Chick my ds is 2yrs 6 months so I think you doing it at right time

MotherOfNations · 07/07/2013 22:39

I think just because it's Scottish Natalie. Heather wouldn't really fit in with Shannah, Sheelan and Linah.

claphammama · 07/07/2013 22:40

DS was also 2 and 10 months when we started potty training chickien (it was attempt number two as we found it was too early when we tried the first time and he simply didn't get it so we pulled out). Everyone was telling me boys get it much later than girls. They are little men after all Wink
