Phew x
On the toilet-training front, I just want to say to anyone having problems, honestly, hang-on in there, they really do all get it in the end.
We had a long, long road with DD. She was fabulous with wees and happily used the potty (and then toilets) from about 2 and a half, with only the very rarest of accidents. She was also dry through the night straight away too.
But poos were another story entirely, she became absolutely phobic about pooing anywhere but in a nappy and would refuse to go until she had one put on for the 'event'.
We tried everything you can think of - stickers, bribery, ignoring the issue, reading on the toilet, picture books about pooing...everything - we even had a GP referral and help from the health visitor.
By the time she started school at 4 and a half, she had progressed to pooing in her nappy sat on the toilet, but she still didn't dare take it off.
The breakthrough finally came in the first term when she had a dodgy tummy in school and made the choice herself to rush to the loo and 'do it' on her own. (School were fully aware and DD had access to a nappy) After that, she never looked back.
I suppose what I'm trying to say is that I look back now at all the worry it caused and I should have just had faith that she'd get there eventually.
The whole episode has also taught me that you never know what is going to crop up in life that your child will struggle with and to be less judgemental. On paper, there was absolutely no reason for DD to develop this 'issue' - we had waited until she showed all the signs of being ready, just quickly cleared up any accidents without any sign of disapproval or disappointment, and took a very relaxed approach to letting her see me on the toilet etc - but she still developed her phobia.
Sorry for such a long-winded post!
