I agree, all my maternity clothes are in sweaty jersey and mostly long sleeved. My old summery dresses that I thought were nice and loose don't fit over my boobs any more.

Tarlia, remind me what is the matter with your poorly DS?

Wickedgirl · 06/07/2013 19:28

Primark have some cheap maxi dresses that are pretty and not too hot.

I need a new bed but refuse to get one until after the birth.......knowing my luck my waters will go at home and trash a new bed

pinkbuttons · 06/07/2013 19:35

shire very impressed by dress adjusments, also hope hotel is lovely for you.
Sorry your upset pseudo I have gotten my very pasty legs out after having the same breakdown yesterday. Have decided its too hot to care! Hope you find something for tonight and can then go shopping very soon.
Oh no tarlia was thinking about you the other day. My DS still.not great had 7th lot of antibiotics since Christmas last week and still on 10 puffs of salbutamol so think well be back in on Monday at this rate. Sorry you had another night in hospital how is he now?

Tarlia · 06/07/2013 19:55

I need to get a bigger towel topped waterproof sheet again - just in case. Though if like last time I was in hospital days before induction, so bed didn't see anything grotty. Though I was so sweaty at night for weeks after labour. Oh the glamour.

orange he gets what they suspect is asthmatic bronchitis with the odd bout of phnumonia sometimes bacterial but usually viral phnumonia.

pink 7? Poor boy :( we tend not to get them as they always take blood and he is usually 5% under bacterial level. Really hope you can avoid the hospital, its really draining. Z shakes like a little leaf now if he thinks he is getting cream and a plaster (numbing cream). Luckily they are confident with our ability to manage it and seek help, so as long as its a morning admittance we are usually released at dinner time, after a day on and off the nebuliser, bloods and X-rays (luckily avoided that this time, they really worry me). After that he usually improves within a couple of days, today spirit is def back although a bit tearful.

Tarlia · 06/07/2013 19:56

Numbing cream before a proper blood test, not finger prick one.

Just catching up after a week out - been so ill with a cold so haven't been feeling too great!

However, lots of good news to report; carpet was fitted on Friday and the baby furniture arrived so spent all evening after work doing bits and bobs and some time today and the nursery is nearly all done! Yay! It makes it all feel very real though and it's dawning on me how soon he's going to be here.

My hubby also won a competition this week for two nights in London, first class train tickets and £250 spends. So excited to go! Hopefully we're going to arrange for sometime in August before I get too big and struggle moving around.

Any ideas for nice things for us to do whilst we're there?

Finally, I've loved reading the 'How I met your Father' stories so I'd like to share mine...

Hubby and I started at work within a week of each other so we often had the same break and lunch times where I started seeing him more and more. At first, I remembered this guy staring at me from across the canteen and I honestly thought he was being so rude because I was trying to eat and he really was staring. However, the more I saw him the more I was finding him attractive and wanting to get to know him better.

Unfortunately I found out that 6 months earlier he'd just split from a woman that he had kids with so that ruled that out.

Anyways, we started hanging out as friends and we both fell in love with each other but I wasn't too sure how I'd feel about being someone with kids when I was only 19. I met them after a few weeks and realised that it was something I could handle and by that point, we were already in love so it was a bit late!

That was nearly 7 years ago now and since then we got married, bought a house and have our first baby on the way. His kids are a joy and they're over the moon to become big sisters which is lovely and if I'm honest, its been a relief that they've been so accepting and happy for us!

OrangeBlossom2 · 06/07/2013 21:12

Untitled sounds like your post-carpet nursery furniture evening is exactly the same as ours then!

Oh poor little thing Tarlia. Sorry I find it hard to keep track. I hope he feels better soon. I had pneumonia the Christmas before last and although was only in hospital one night I really wasn't well for weeks. Horrible for a little person to have it Sad DH was also hospitalisd with asthma/pneumonia as a child but has grown out of it thankfully. I am hoping our little one doesn't inherit our rubbish lungs!

pinkbuttons · 06/07/2013 21:15

Oh no tarlia your poor DS and you, sending you hugs. We are the same with trying to manage at home, DS tends to become more ill in hospital but I think thats partly from fear of being in. Using spacer and 0 puffs of salbutamol to act as nebuliser at the moment, but fear its another case of pneumonia that he had last yr. I worry about him having so many antibiotics but get more worried about the oral steroids. Glad hes a little bit better today.
Oh no untitled sorry youve been feeling so poorly, but glad to hear all the good news, 2 nights in London sounds lovely Smile

Soupqueen · 06/07/2013 21:36

gt, I think (but am not absolutely certain) that the rolled up towels are just to raise you up so there is room underneath for the frozen peas.

claphammama · 06/07/2013 23:19

wow... busy chatting day... haven't caught up on the entire thread yet but so sorry to hear about your kids being poorly and so many of you feeling rough...

pink lady this sounds so scary... hope they manage to fix it for you soon.

shire so impressed by your seamstress success!

I'm absolutely loving this weather but agree, it makes sleeping so much more difficult.

Just got back from my pre-birthday dinner with DP and feel like I'm going to give birth to twins... tonight. So much yummy Chinese food...

favellio · 06/07/2013 23:39

Feeling hot hot hot........Sad
After weeks of getting bitten by Mosquitos at least twice a day and having really bad reactions to all the bites, and getting refused antihistamines by pharmacists and my (idiot of a) doctor, I finally snapped!
I was bitten on the eyelid of all places. Eyelid swelled to 4 times its usual size, accompanied by 6 massive bits on my arm the size of half marbles. So I rang harmoni medical out of hours, got an appointment with a doctor who was amazing!! I've now got low dose antibiotics for infected bites and piriton to take x3 a day.

The moral of the story is, for all you allergy sufferers, that Piriton is safe after the first trimester!! GrinGrinGrinGrin

The doctor I saw used to be a maternity doctor and was very knowledgable. She even told me she suspects I'll be having a boy because of the shape and size of my bump! 3 months and I'll find out if she's right lol

OrangeBlossom2 · 06/07/2013 23:44

That's interesting that a dr believes the bump shape predictor. I wonder if there is something in it. Mine is a boy shaped bump too.

claphammama · 06/07/2013 23:56

yes, surprised a doctor said it.

I wonder if there is something in it. I remember when I was pregnant with DS and went to a Chinese restaurant. The waitress asked me "so when is your boy due?". I asked "why do you think I'm having a boy". she said "oh, i can tell from the shape it's definitely a boy". she was so convinced she didn't even bother to ask if I knew what I was having! I'm having a bit this time too and the same pointy, all at the front shape.

claphammama · 06/07/2013 23:57

meant "I'm having a boy" NOT "I'm having a bit"!

claphammama · 07/07/2013 00:02

PS. well done on your house decorating and first major shopping trip orange. Sounds like you've made a massive progress! (just catching up on the thread :-)

are you feeling better now after that playground accident by the way?

favellio · 07/07/2013 05:47

I was quite surprised too! She was one of those old skool, matter-of-fact doctors, who couldn't believe my own doctor refused me antihistamines, as Piriton was perfectly safe, and was saying how midwives now are far to over cautious and rely too much on text books, rather than experience.
I suppose she's got a 50% of being right with her gender prediction lol

OrangeBlossom2 · 07/07/2013 06:12

Thanks Clapham, my back still aches, but got physio appointment at the hospital on Tuesday which will hopefully help. Sitting on wooden benches on a boat and yesterdays tidying won't have helped so my own fault too.

The nursery is looking lovely and it makes me feel very calm to have some things sorted, although we have to return the hemnes changing table converter as it adds space at the back, not the front, so the cabinet has to sit really far out with wasted space behind it. Not good in a 6ft square box room!

pinkbuttons · 07/07/2013 07:05

just wanted to add for those suffering with aches and pains, heat packs and hot water bottles will help with muscle aches and pains and tightness whereas an ice pack will help reduce inflammation. Hard to say whats best without assessing everyone but for those tht havent been told specifically sometimes helps to alternate between the two for pain relief, while waiting for physio appt. unless you can feep whether pain is muscular or not. Pain around pubic bone is caused by them rubbing together causing inflammation but back pain could be either or both.
Cant remember who was talking about rolled up towel, may just be to make space for ice pack or may be to relieve pressure on sacrum/coccyx depending on where your pain is, can also get fancy cushions online to help relieve pressure but towels and well placed cushions work too
.pelvic girdle pain is so varied between individuals bt hope that helps someone.
Awful nights sleep here with the heat and heartburn bleugh. Hope everyone else slept well.

34PinkLadyApple · 07/07/2013 08:01

Thanks ladies and sorry to those suffering with back pain etc. am due at hospital at 9.45 for more checks and wee results to pinpoint what the protein was. The more i think about and talk to people the less worried i am its preeclampsia as i dont have the swollen face and hands or epigastric pain (pain under right rib like heartburn). Just hope it doesnt take nearly 5 hours for all the tests like friday!

Went to a friends little boys 1st birthday party yesterday and was first time out with loads of mums i havent seen since i got preggers. I just couldnt get used to the attention. Does anyone ekse feel like that? All nice compliments and advice but not used to it all and constantly having to say 12 weeks to go, dont know the sex, etc. maybe i was just tured and hot but i had to go sit outside for some peace. :)

Anyway, keep cool today ladies, i recommend a paddling pool or similR to dunk those feet in then a afternoon of murray madness! Fingers crossed.

34PinkLadyApple · 07/07/2013 08:03

Crap spelling Blush

OrangeBlossom2 · 07/07/2013 08:04

Fingers crossed for you today pink lady.
We are off to visit my mum today once DH is up. Letting him enjoy lie ins before October when there won't be any more!

Sanjifair · 07/07/2013 08:28

Hi all,

Quite a few asthmatic DC on the thread. My DS is too, he is on singulair which keeps his asthma very well controlled.

I don't think much of the bump shape thing, I had a very similar bump shape to a friend last time and she had a girl!

I went to a friends wedding yesterday. She had a table full of friends who she had met on a baby centre forum, they were the July 2012 over 30s group! They were from all over the place but had get togethers once in a while.

Who knows, that may be us soon!

It was the most child friendly wedding you can imagine, children encouraged to play in the aisle and blow bubbles durinv the ceremony, outside games and toys provided for the wait between the ceremony and the meal, and games on every table for the DC, my nearly 3 year old was transfixed by 'hungry hippos'! Everything was planned around the children, quite the opposite to many of the weddings you red about on AIBU!

pinkbuttons · 07/07/2013 08:28

Thinking of you this morning pinklady hope all goes well and your out of there nice and quick with the all clear x

OrangeBlossom2 · 07/07/2013 08:32

We found the headphones while tidying up so just tried the heartbeat app again that I bought very early on. Lovely clear steady p heartbeat now. And noises as the baby kicks the iPad away!

Flyer747 · 07/07/2013 08:48
