Sorry to hear your having problems pinklady really hope everything is back to normal tomorrow for you. Let us know how you get on.
Also sorry to hear of everyones aches and pains, Im 27 weeks today and the app on my phone kindly pointed out that now in the third trimester there will be more pregnancy woes like in the first. My hip has been playing up but have taught DH how to physio me so is giving some relief. Hope those of you who need it are able to get some help too.
Loving the sun but would be greatful if it doesnt get much hotter 26 degrees is just right for getting a tan but still having to function Smile

JellyCurls · 06/07/2013 11:24

Morning ladies

Hope you ok pink and not got pre-eclampsia.

I am spd hell at moment so sitting in the heat with a hot water bottle to try ease pain. Thankfully not too hot in Scotland.

Day 8 of potty training ds and I am sick of scrubbing carpets, whole house smells of pee. Anybody got any tips they would like to share? He sits on potty then gets up walks two steps and crouches down to pee Angry

Soupqueen · 06/07/2013 11:28

pinklady, fingers crossed results are all good today. How scary that your BP shot up so quickly!

textbook, I'd be interested to know what chair you get, we're planning an ikea trip soon for the same reason. You're ahead of me on the clothes front if that makes you feel any better, not purchased a thing yet!

I downloaded "The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding" for my kindle. I'm determined to give it a really good go, it would be most unfair if I've hauled these monsters (34FF pre pregnancy) around for years and then they don't actually work....

Soupqueen · 06/07/2013 11:31

jelly, the obstetric physio I saw recommended ice rather than heat for SPD. I don't know where you're sorest but for me she advised a rolled up towel lengthwise under each thigh and a towel wrapped bag of frozen peas in the middle. I've not tried it yet, but might be worth a try?

The lovely weather makes me cross that I don't have a garden to sit in and enjoy it. We're going out for lunch, purely so we can go somewhere with outside seating. If DH doesn't wake up from his snooze in time and everywhere is full, I might just kill him. That's reasonable, yes?

JellyCurls · 06/07/2013 11:47

soup it's my tailbone that's sorest and starting to move between my legs Sad it was midwife that recommended heat and she referring me to obstetric physios but they have a long waiting list

Shirehobbit · 06/07/2013 11:49

Hope you're ok, pink and you get some relief, jelly

slippy - I had a belly button piercing for many years, but it began to heal (aggressively so) while I still wore bars through it, so I had to let it or face scarring/granulosa growths for the sake of a bit of jewellry. It ended up looking like a little mole above my belly button when it closed.
However, I suspect it was the cause of my belly button pain, which I mentioned earlier in the week, as the scar tissue in the piercing track is less stretchy and flexible, so hurts as my bump grows.

Soupqueen · 06/07/2013 11:51

Hope you don't have too long to wait. I had to wait a few weeks and when I saw her she was complaining about how long people have to wait and then she has no shows and last minute cancellations. I was first appointment that day and she'd already had 2 phone calls that morning cancelling for that day. Frustrating!

char1eston · 06/07/2013 13:09

Been having a catch up with the thread since I got back from hols in France last night. Had a lovely time but it was only sunny for 3 out of the 6 days. However this week it is due to be 30+ for the whole week which probably would have been too hot!
I have read the talk on banned foods and all I can say is that any restraint I had went completely through the window! I stayed away from banned cheeses with dd but feel like I have eaten my own weight in gooey delicious cheese over the past week (apologies to anyone abstaining) and have had a few glasses of wine/cider but will be back to my max 1 or 2 per week from now on.

Thought I'd share our 'how we met' story.
11 years ago I went to a music festival and to cheer up my friend's brother (who had recently split with his gf) we decided to make and wear unusual facial hair/ underarm hair /merkins.
Whilst in one of the tents, a guy asked my friend what the score was with all these girls wearing beards and I decided to go back to my tent, collect all the material and offer to make him a beard!
When I got back to the tent, he was still there and asked for an Abraham Lincoln, which I duly made from some tiger print fabric. Shortly after that he left to go elsewhere with his mates.
Fast forward 9 hours or so and all my friends were sitting round the campsite and I had itchy feet. Decided to go for a wander but no one wanted to come with me. I walked into the all night tent where they had music playing and there was dp. I asked him where his beard was and he showed me that he was wearing it as a merkin (over his trousers of course). Cue us staying up all night chatting with a load of random people we'd not met before. They all thought that we were married - we must have got on pretty well! He was due to come to Brighton the weekend after to visit some mates and when he arrived I said that he could stay with me if he wanted to Wink
The rest as they say is history. We spent a year seeing each other on weekends and Wednesdays (he lived in London so not too far), then he moved to Brighton. That was 10 years ago and we have now bought a house together and have the rather gorgeous 2 year old Florence.
What I didn't realise when I met him (because he was wearing a hat) was that he was ginger. He's actually my 3rd ginger boyfriend - which my friends thought was hilarious!

OrangeBlossom2 · 06/07/2013 13:23

I love the name Florence. It was my favourite place when DH and I inter railed through Italy on our first holiday together too.

FeministInTraining · 06/07/2013 13:58

Another Florence fan, my grandmothers name- will be used as a middle name if we have a girl.

Flowers for Pink and Jelly and anyone else that could do with some!

Getting ready for a picnic with DP in the park, hope everyone's enjoying some sun Smile

JellyCurls · 06/07/2013 16:30

Just made some potato salad with last nights left over Ayrshire potatoes, was supposed to be a side for tonight's BBQ but I just ate it all up - oops. Fat pig award goes to jellycurls I think

TheFalconsmistress · 06/07/2013 16:51

Sound yum jelly! baby obviously craved some complex carbs is all!

Feel rotten today its either major hay fever or the flu and still all achy from walking yesterday too, all on the hottest day of the year, typical!

Natalieand · 06/07/2013 17:36

Wow how seriously hot isit! I desperately need a new bra my boobs r popping out all over the joint! Spent the whole day in my mum and dads garden doing absolutely nothing while dd and her cousin (same age) played in the paddling pool and will be taking her to the carnival and fair that's on tonight. Anyone else getting swollen feet in this weather?

Sorry to hear about your high bp pink hopefully all your results come back clear and they can just keep an extra close eye on you xx

pinkbuttons · 06/07/2013 17:49

swollen feet and hands here natalie after going for a walk and ice cream. DH is making dinner because apparently I need to rest! First time this pregnancy ive had any sympathy and its all because my hands and feet are looking fat, still not complaining though Smile
Also managed to have a 3 hr siesta with DS, overall a pretty good Saturday.

GTbaby · 06/07/2013 17:54

Jelly I was also advices to have cold rather then heat packs for sdp.

Soup can u explain more about the towels rolled up under thigh? Is that just when you ice? My phyisio wasn't that great in terms of advice. My pain is kinda in my pubic bone. Kills when I sleep on my side Hmm. So sleep on bk. which ain't really comfy.

It's my non baby shower tomorrow. I has a great baby shower for ds1. With about 50 ppl! Games food and fun. Was lovely. This time I didn't want a shower and ppl spending money on gifts. So as a compromise I'm going out for lunch with my sis n cousins (just 8of us lol) on condition of no gifts. Looking forward to a girly catch up really at a posh restaurant Grin

Right got to start dinner. Hmm

Boo! Finally caught up, I can't/won't post until I've read every post incase I miss something, then forget all I wanted to say haha.

Regarding mr whippy from a van I think it is on the avoid list due to poorly controlled van hygiene. However the large chains, including McD are safe due to such struck company and enforced regulations.

pinkapple you poor thing, hope you are ok. I'm a pre-eclampsia surviour and am being closely watched this time. To ease your mind, they usually only watch the bottom number if it goes above 90, then want to watch it. Protine as a one off can also show a bad catch, so fingers crossed next sample will be ok. I had +3 protine a couple of weeks ago, but then back to a trace a week later. I'm monitoring my bp daily- I suggest that you rest as much as possible laying on your left side, in the dark if you bare as this obviously prevents excess brain stimulation - since doing this more my bp has dropped from 110 to 70s withing a month. Permenant headache has also reduced. Sending you hugs.

iron here we are meant to supplement as standard when pregnant - 40mg a day I think (I can't swallow all these pills!). Babies from 6 months also have iron drops before switching at a year to a multi vitamin tab. Don't panic Nat your dd will def be fine and should not have low iron so def needs the iron drops, so please continue to give them.

Sorry to hear all your stories of work woes, won't be long now ladies - 3ish months and all will be off enjoying/awaiting these gorgeous bundles.

I'm 27 weeks today - cant wait for it to be over, basically waiting for the PE to start, awful SPD and now having irregular heart problems.

Shirehobbit · 06/07/2013 18:26

I can report that the dress amendment was a success Grin
I will be wearing a shrug over the top too, but I'm fairly confident I could go without and no one would notice the alterations, unless I went around with my arms above my head!

Despite my seamstress triumphs, I'm having a bit of a wobbly evening. The dog is spending a trial night at a potential sitter, and I have been really shocked just how much I've missed him all afternoon (daft, I know). DH is at a stag do he's organised, and I shall shortly have to pack to head to a night in exile at a local hotel, as a few of the stags are staying here. They've clubbed together to pay for the room, but it's still not what I'd like to be doing, tonight.
I am heading out for some food and chat with the other halves, which'll be nice, but then they're all off into town for a night dancing, too.
I guess I just feel a bit left out/behind.

I'm sure I'll get over it, though. Just wanted a little moan. Sorry. Blush

Shirehobbit · 06/07/2013 18:31

Oh, and to top it all, I'm having a really fat day. (The Vicky Pollard comment really struck a chord, earlier - brilliant analogy!)

Right, now I really am done moaning.

OrangeBlossom2 · 06/07/2013 18:44

Well done on the dress alteration shire, very impressed.
Sorry you are being moved out of the way tonight, although I am sure you will have a better time on your own than if you stayed. Have a bath, bring a book and get an early night.

Carpets all done so house is FINALLY finished after new kitchen, redecorating and carpeting. It has dragged on for months. So today we went to ikea and bought a cot, matress and drawers to go with it, chest of drawers with changing table top, bookcase shelves and doors to be a cabinet for baby stuff and lots of other bits like bath, Muslins, blanket etc. DH now going to put it all back together while I put everything back in its place. So pleased to have made a start on preparing for the baby at last.

My hip is sore from pushing a trolly just a little way to the car park, DH did all the lifting himself so can't really moan.

HotSoupDumpling · 06/07/2013 18:45

Feel free to moan Shire, I love just staying in my own home.

It is so HOT here in London, no air con, just a fan. Am walking around indecently dressed. No idea how I'm going to get to sleep tonight! (Moan moan)

Tarlia · 06/07/2013 18:47

*strict

PseudoBadger · 06/07/2013 18:53

I just had a sobbing meltdown at dp after having no trousers that fit that are cool enough for this weather. My legs look too fat and white to wear any lovely cool dresses and I have tried about 10 pairs of pregnancy trousers and have returned them all. My usual fall back of DP's jogging bottoms for around the house won't work tonight as its too to :(
I'm back in my pajama bottoms again.....

Tarlia · 06/07/2013 18:53

shire hope the hotel is half decent and has a comfy bed! I agree, lovely pampering bath and book in bed. Congrats on the dress adjustments.

soup heat really isn't fun when pregnant is it :/. Still preferable over days of rain though I guess.

We just got a lovely new super king bed - I don't want to get out (not that I'm allowed to much!). It was tested out on the first night by a poorly DS who now fits comfortably in the middle with lots of room to spare. We ended up spending a day in the hospital on Friday for the third month on a trot :(. We now have open access to walk into the children's ward without the usual protocols. pinkbuttons how's your little guy now the weather has changed?

PseudoBadger · 06/07/2013 18:53

Too hot! Not too to....

Tarlia · 06/07/2013 18:56

Badger try H&M. I got some cotton trousers in there, which I thought would be awful, and I'd have to return, but actually they are great. Very cool, comfortable and look at least half, if not decent.
