Hi

Is there an antenatal thread for March 2013?

If not, can I start one? I've just found out Im expecting our third (and final!!) baby, due 4 March.

Fingers crossed tightly for a smooth ride (I had early bleeds with both my previous pregnancies).

Anyone else out there yet?

F&T, everywhere seems to be different! Whereabouts in the country are you (don't out yourself!). I fall under Cambridgeshire and here the GP gives you the mid wife's number and tells you to book the appointment yourself! I called them when I was 5 weeks and was told they don't see you till 8 weeks. My appt is now next week, when I'll be 8+2 and I presume I'll get a scan date then.

TWinklyLittleStar · 16/07/2013 16:53

F&T, I'm a first timer too. I rang my GP surgery who gave me the community midwives number. Last week they gave me an appointment for a meeting today, we did form filling and I've been.given a date for my booking in appointment on the 29th. I'll get my scan date then. I come under west Essex; it seems to vary so much across the country.

frank lovely thank you. I've had some sleep so feel a good bit better now. Are you managing to get some rest in this heat?

LittleMachine · 16/07/2013 16:55

I've also done 10+ tests Grin I'd have carried on if I'd had more.

I'm still really paranoid, especially at the absence of sore boobs, which was a massive symptom for me in both of my last 2 pregnancies.

I have a really sore back today, like period pain. Hope it isn't a bad type of pain. I was on a school trip today so may have just over done things a bit.

Souredstones · 16/07/2013 17:01

I've come home from work early having burst into tears on my boss.

I've been have ever increasingly intense stomach cramps continuously all day. No bleeding but the pain has become unbearable. I have no MW yet and no idea about the EPU in this town. Debating whether to contact the GP or if that will be a waste of time

TWinklyLittleStar · 16/07/2013 17:05

soured I think you said you were Essex too? here's a list of early pregnancy units and how to get referred. I hope everything is ok.

Souredstones · 16/07/2013 17:09

Thank you. It's all healthcare professional referrals only. Think if it gets much worse I'm going to get DH to take me to the hospital when he gets home from work.

Hoping its just extreme uterus expansion type pains and nothing untoward.

faithfulandtruthful · 16/07/2013 17:12

frankelly I am under Portsmouth NHS trust Hampshire

soured if your worried ring NHS direct, pop into a walk in clinic or go to A&E better to get it checked out than worry.

Thank you to all the lovely ladies who have shared their experiences with me. xx

I feel so lucky ladies...
I self referred to my EPAU and also my midwife..im with EPAU every two weeks until my midwife takes over on 6th Aug, I am then automatically under consultant led care..
It's so unfair some of you have had difficulties with booking in and stuff...i say why dont you all move to Wales....free prescriptions too ;-) xx

faithfulandtruthful · 16/07/2013 17:23

MTBMummy As I said in a previous post I am having hardly any symptoms and to start with I was really freaking out, on the way home from work one evening I was airing my worries to my DH, who bless him was lovely but suggested I needed to chill, it wasn't received well.

I have since given myself a good talking to, stressing isn't doing me any good and it is not going to change everything, coming on here and seeing how much some of the lovely ladies are suffering just makes me grateful that I am not.

I pretty certain our time will come and we will wish we had chilled out and enjoyed being pregnant and symptom free. But it does make you worry, I looked up symptoms of miscarriage on the net which helped reassure me that a lack of symptoms was good news on that front too. As for not feeling pregnant I just keep thinking absence of AF is a symptom in itself plus the BFP!

Take Care

F&T

RugbyWidow7 · 16/07/2013 17:34

Stephie that sounds awesome. Good that you get to check-in so often. I bet it'll be really reassuring for you.

Souredstones, I'm so sorry to hear how you're feeling. Try to lie down flat and relax as much as you can until your other half comes home. Have you had any bleeding? Thinking of you

We conceived ds straight away, I was 30. This time (now 32) it's taken a bit longer but I put that down to the pee sticks as they really confused me. Once we stopped using them we got pg. Smile

Nearly passed out earlier from getting up too quickly - think I need to eat more iron... Is it bad that I'm hoping my ds doesn't finish his tea so I can wolf it Confused this hunger is crazy!

HotCrossPun · 16/07/2013 17:56

Is this thread an antenatal bus?

I imagine it to be more like a boat.

Rockchick1984 · 16/07/2013 17:57

Soured try putting your feet up and resting - I suffered with quite sharp pains when having DS if I overdid things. Ring the GP and ask them to refer you to EPU, mine will do it over the phone so worth a try!

Had my early scan this morning - everything fine, saw chicklet's heartbeat, but they have agreed to another scan in 2 weeks as that takes me past the point where baby died last time. Oh, and got my first real craving... Jacket potato with cheese and beans Confused Thought it would have been for something more exciting, but have made DH nip to the supermarket on his way home from work, and am counting the minutes until he gets home and I can make it!!!

charley33 · 16/07/2013 17:59

My symptoms seem to be more exaggerated than last time or maybe it's just that I can't remember from 3 years ago?
I feel nauseous most of the time without actually being sick
Have very sore boobs
Eating makes me feel less nauseous but worry I'm going to end up the size of a small house!

Think I'm going to pay for an early scan to put my mind at rest (Esp as I go on hols for a week mid Aug)!

MortifiedAdams · 16/07/2013 18:13

I definetly dont have my sea legs! «green»

Blockette · 16/07/2013 18:20

I'm glad I'm not the only crazy one wanting to re-test!

Ohh I'm in Wales too! Hopfully I'll get easy appointments too! - booked in to see GP next Thursday, hopfully I'll get an early scan seeing as my AF's where so irregular before.

This is my first, and I don't have a clue what I'm doing!! And the days are going by so slowly.

JuicyFatSteak · 16/07/2013 18:32

Blimmin' brown spotting again...

charley33 · 16/07/2013 18:37

I tested again today as last digi test told me I was 2-3 weeks and this one told me I'm 3+ which means I'm progressing!

Gonna try not to test again now (I have none left in the house!)

charley33 · 16/07/2013 18:39

JFS Hope ur spotting does one!

RugbyWidow7 · 16/07/2013 18:39

Oh no juicy. Has it happened before? (Sorry if I missed it) how rubbish. Feet up! Hope it stops quickly.

Does anyone know anything about the theory about nausea being associated with having baby girls, because of all the increased female hormone? I heard it earlier on the tv. I do feel more nauseous than last time, so it's got me thinking, but maybe just reading too much into it Confused

toasterstrudel · 16/07/2013 18:46

mimili that's so frustrating - i hope you get it all sorted!

congrats rockchick - how far were you if you don't mind me asking? fingers crossed for you, i'm sure all will be perfect at your next scan!

food wise i've been a nightmare - i'm extremely small framed and have already put on a stone (i'm still tiny and i probably needed to tbh) - but i just don't fancy anything that's good for me and want all fast food which isn't like me at all!

my most hated at the moment is meat substitutes the thought of them is making me queasy (i'm not vegetarian) but i usually really like them - my partner said his mum had the same thing though with the quorn etc! bleh.

anyone had any unusual cravings this time around or mad ones in previous pgs?!

toasterstrudel · 16/07/2013 18:47

also blockette i'm also in wales and getting an easy scan was easy for me too, so hopefully you'll have no trouble!

stephie101 · 16/07/2013 18:48

Whereabouts are you BLOCKETTE

mimili · 16/07/2013 19:03

Thanks Toaster and JF also hoping your spotting does one!
Am I allowed rant number two of the day? Please do not hate me for it.

SO DH and I both work for the same company, and as far as I can tell I do not look pregnant (I am a size 8/10, generally underweight for most of my life), I have to dress smart for work and have made sure that I wear tops and stuff that skim my belly because I have been bloated, but its not noticeable. However DH's big boss pulled him aside this afternoon to say a couple of directors have asked said big boss if I am preggers!!!!!!!!!! DH played it out and didn't really answer her....

Am I wrong to be irritated?!

charley33 · 16/07/2013 19:36

mimili think it's rubbish they put your hubby in that position? It's the parents prerogative to tell their employer when they choose to?

How awful would it have been if you hadn't been pregnant but had simply put on a little weight?

Treading on dangerous ground me thinks!

holycowwhatnow · 16/07/2013 19:43

Also think they're on thin ice there, Mimili. The boss should never ask that question, even if someone looks 9 months pregnant. They should wait to be told.
