Teddybear4 · 24/06/2013 13:43

Hi

Is there an antenatal thread for March 2013?

If not, can I start one? I've just found out Im expecting our third (and final!!) baby, due 4 March.

Fingers crossed tightly for a smooth ride (I had early bleeds with both my previous pregnancies).

Anyone else out there yet?

Aw, Stones, I was having a laugh. Honest. Did that not come across? I do apologise Sad

OnTheRunFromTheAcademe · 16/07/2013 11:13

Juicy It took 10 months last time and I was very much Hmm at people who claimed to just sneeze and get knocked up.

This time we had a shag on holiday, sandwiched between a week of illness and a week of toddler teething (just to give you an idea of how much sex goes on round here), thinking I wasn't ovulating, and bingo.

Now I'm Hmm at myself.

I'm 35.

Wuxiapian · 16/07/2013 11:39

3 years ago, DP was told he had very low sperm count (after a couple of years ttc), and that we should go straight to IVF. I now have a 5 month old, and after 2 periods (and DTD twice) I am 7 weeks pregnant again!

I'm 35, DP is 45.

RugbyWidow7 · 16/07/2013 11:46

Feeling suddenly nauseas. Appreciate you've had a tough time of it Juicy but wow, that's a hell of a description.

...so, anyone have pregnancy induced sensitive teeth?

It's so hard not being able to tell people I'm pg as not feeling much like spending hours in the sun, but it is of course what everyone else wants to do. Understandably! The heat doesn't help the nausea. Eating does Grin hope everyone else is feeling ok today.

toasterstrudel · 16/07/2013 11:57

i'm 22, for me both previous times I've been pg it was the same cycle we first tried on (august 2012, january 2013) - unfortunately those times didn't work out though!

this time i was on the pill as i wasn't ready for the stress of a potential loss again and after one cycle on the pill i was pregnant again. not sure if it's a good thing to be so fertile if they're not sticky mind!

i have a theory that it's my age though, as it was at my age my nan had my mum and my mum had me - my nan had been trying for a while and my mum was also on the pill (and my due date is my birthday!), may just have been good timing fertility wise?! not that i'm overanalysing or anything...

i am terrified now but third time lucky! scan on thursday and feeling optimistic!

MummyPig24 · 16/07/2013 12:00

We have been very lucky as it has taken 2 cycles each time.

Feeling ok today. Still tired even though I had 6 straight hours last night. Just been to tesco and now vegging on the sofa with a scone!

MummyPig24 · 16/07/2013 12:00

Oh and I'm 25. Had babies at 19 and 22, will be 26 when this one arrives.

JuicyFatSteak · 16/07/2013 12:07

Sorry, Rugby, maybe you should just Tippex over my posts if you have a feeble constitution. Or wear sunglasses Grin

I was, in fact, an instadiffer myself, once. It was eleven years ago and a one-night stand on Christmas Eve. I didn't keep the baby Sad

JuicyFatSteak · 16/07/2013 12:08

MummyPig, I think that's ace. I wish I'd done similar.

MummyPig24 · 16/07/2013 12:11

My first baby wasn't planned and changed my life, now it feels right to make being a mother my priority.

My aunt had her baby boy at 40, he's lovely and they were so happy, it was such a journey for them to finally have a healthy baby. It was brilliant, but I don't blame them for sticking at one after all they went through. Plus she finds it hard now he is a toddler.

JBrd · 16/07/2013 12:15

Argh, I could kill for a proper cup of coffee! Herbal tea just doesn't cut it Confused

toasterstrudel · 16/07/2013 12:47

jbrd - you're allowed a real coffee! i think it's 200mg a day of caffeine you're allowed? anyone know if that's right or i've made that up?

i can't live without iced coffee and have been popping to starbucks (we have a drive thru around the corner - it is too tempting) every couple of days for a fix

Blockette · 16/07/2013 13:31

I don't feel very pg!

I'm meant to be about 5 weeks....

would it be crazy to do a (4th) test just to double check?

Thaleia · 16/07/2013 13:38

Sorry to read that some had to go of the bus already ....

It took as around 6 month this time, we were trying hard as I didn't know if it would work again. I had a difficult birth last time and they implicated that it might be difficult to conceive and if, I would have to have a cs again.

I still try to wrap my head around the fact that we are having a toddler and a baby next march. I am scared tbh. Others have managed as well but still. I still suffer from PND although it's better now but I am anxious it comes back again, double strengths.

Haven't told anyone that I am pregnant yet, not even my mum. I don't want to scare her as my PND frightened her so much Sad.

I was listening into a conversation today and one mum said if you decide twice the wrong way, e. g. favour a child or punish the wrong one, it's done for life. I am really worried that this is true although I don't think it is true. The whole discussion came on as another mum was sharing stories about and evil 4 year old and that some children are "born bad"?! Can this be true, can you be born as "the glass is half empty" person?

Pregnancy hormones, who needs them????

Thaleia · 16/07/2013 13:41

Blockette - as long as it's the one from the Pound Shop and not the Clear Blue ones .... hihi.
Just to it, it'll hit home soon enough. And you'll have a laugh later when you are feeling like the walking dead. Or maybe not laughing but you not what I mean!

April13 · 16/07/2013 13:43

managed salty crisps and a pint of full fat milk at lunch today. Now just being sick in my mouth, so progress is being made, however I am not sure if salty crisps and milk is the best meal option for the bump/child or for my already not so slim waistline which is rapidly expanding even though I am only 6+6 weeks (any excuse eh?) or the . I thought I was craving plain bread (Scottish type of loaf) and ham, but only managed two bites. I think if i chew something it might help. I work in a lab so unfortunately any type of food is out so I am currently chewing a pen lid....

Juicy I am 30 and I am an instadiffer, although it did take me 6 months to get a period after coming off the pill and another 3-4 months to regulate.....

charley33 · 16/07/2013 14:03

Well Ladies - I'd very much like to join this lively March 2014 bus - Tested positive a couple of weeks ago - Have mw appt tomorrow - Reckon I'm about 5.5 weeks along so due around 16th March

Already have one DD who is 2.5 - Had a mc in Feb this year so feeling anxious as well as very excited!!

I'm 36 (hubby 41) and been ttc since Jan this year - Took us 6 months with DD so hopefully this little JellyBean will stick!!

TWinklyLittleStar · 16/07/2013 14:41

Saw the midwife today. She asked me if I had any worries - I then promptly began bawling my eyes out sobbing about how worried I was something would go wrong. She was absolutely love, gave me the local EPU number and said not to hesitate to go if I'm having any issues, and had a nice chat. I hadn't even realised I was that tense, though the tiredness from getting up two hours after going to sleep after a night shift probably didn't help.

I haven't puked for a couple of days now, although it was a close thing last night. Boob pain is on and off.

Hi all the new people, congratulations.

mimili · 16/07/2013 14:49

Blockette, No, four tests are not unreasonable!! I think I am at exactly the same stage as you and did four tests on the first two days alone!! (internet cheapies and one ?proper? one). I wont tell you how many I have done since?!

Today is the first day I have experienced any kind of serious nausea it was preceeded by the most tiredness I have every experienced. I keep wretching, I almost feel it would be better to actually be sick. Looking forward to people at work knowing why I look and feel like #%.

JBrd · 16/07/2013 15:11

I've been testing almost daily since I got my BFP two weeks ago Wink

I just had a coffee, and I feel soooo much better! Think I might have an issue with caffeine addiction Confused
I know I can have coffee, but I'm trying to be good... My body is my temple and all that. Which is obviously not working - I was much better at this in my first pregnancy!

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 16/07/2013 16:07

OK. Im in!
Im exactly 5 weeks today, EDD 18 March. 2 dcs already, (17 and 14) 1 MC (ectopic) at start of feb.
Im feeling really positive about this one today Ive done 1 test this time, did 11 last time Blush have plenty of nice symptoms and a reassurance scan next Tuesday.

mimili · 16/07/2013 16:27

Sorry ? this is a rant.

So, I went to the Dr a week ago, the process in my area (and possibly most now?) is that the Doc emails a referral service who then send the appointment request to the hospital. The referral service haven?t received it and the GP won?t send it again.

I speak with the GP who then agrees to fax or email it again now and I should then call after ten minutes to make sure the referral service get it.

I leave it a while and then call the referall service to say this problem is common with my GP but they cannot check their email and fax right now and I should call tomorrow! I know I wont get an appointment for a little while but I am a little annoyed at the uselessness of the system!
Angry
Wish I could have a Wine!!

FrankellyMyDearIDontGiveADamn · 16/07/2013 16:39

Twinks my lovely, sorry you had a mini-melt down, but yay for supportive midwife. I've got my appointment next week when I'll be 8+2 so will probably do the same Grin

I'm feeling less sick today, but more tired Hmm

Welcome newbies!

faithfulandtruthful · 16/07/2013 16:43

Hello all,

Hope you are all coping on this hot 'ol day.

I was on my Holidays last week, we found out I was pregnant the week before we went.

I am having very mild symptoms, keep waiting for the MS to kick in but nothing as yet, so enjoying it whilst it lasts. Lots of people said 6-7 weeks on (that's next week for me). I am experiencing sore boobs, need to wee frequently, dizziness (or is it the heat / headcold), moodiness, slight twinges/cramping and waking up early (around 5.30am).

I have got a summer cold, which is driving me mad! I am so relieved my pg symptoms are mild at most.

I am a first timer so not really knowing the form and having read on NHS I should contact my Dr asap I did, I was 4 weeks and a day, she was really surprised I was calling her (it was awful, I had to psych myself up to ring because I knew I was going to get a locum, I have just lost my normal Dr as she has had to retire due to health problems) left me wondering if I should have not bothered until I was further along?
She said she would refer me to the Midwives and that I would receive a letter, my problem is I have no idea how long this should take and when roughly I should get an appointment, or even what it is for when I do get one.
I also know this locum is rubbish at actually doing her referrals. Any advice on how long I should leave it before I contact the MW directly? Don't want to appear like a panicking first timer but also don't want to struggle to get an appointment either.

Thank you ladies

F&T

MTBMummy · 16/07/2013 16:45

I called to get my booking in appointment as I know how hard it is to get one in my area - the earliest I can get is the 12th August - argh!!! that seems like ages away :(

Anyone else freaking out about lack of symptoms? I'm weeing a bit more but that's about it and it's probably down to drinking so much water in this heat
