March 2014?

Teddybear4 · 24/06/2013 13:43

Hi

Is there an antenatal thread for March 2013?

If not, can I start one? I've just found out Im expecting our third (and final!!) baby, due 4 March.

Fingers crossed tightly for a smooth ride (I had early bleeds with both my previous pregnancies).

Anyone else out there yet?

I think with most - that should have said!

mimili · 11/07/2013 17:43

So how have everyone?s days been? I feel like I have been hiding this news forever not just a week or so.

Today relatively symptom free even the aches have gone. Apart from about an hour ago where I had mammoth cramping worse than any other period I can remember to the point where I (Possible TMI alert!
) rushed to the toilets at work to check with a panicked look flashing across my face.

Obviously it was nothing, I guess I have to get used to this!!

Cannot really comment re vaccinations, I asked the Dr the same as a generic question and he couldnt get me to leave quick enough!

Wishing you all a happy sunny evening! Smile

p.s re caffeine, I seem to be right off it, that and marmite. Very strange?!

firsttimekat · 11/07/2013 17:58

Been a miserable day for me, not sleeping well and really tired. Plus boob pain and a cramping feeling. The worst is that I want to explain to people as they just think I'm being miserable after my holiday, don't know how I'm going to last another 7 weeks without telling anyone!

When did people first go to the GP? I heard some like you to wait but I feel like I want to get things kicked off. I think I'm probably about 5 weeks but hard to tell as irregular periods.

IceNoSlice · 11/07/2013 18:01

Hi all, checking in. Still no symptoms here. I had nausea last time but none yet.

Is anyone doing much exercise? I got fit recently and am at the skinniest I've ever been so I'm pretty keen to stay for during pregnancy (although I'll obv be sensible and not push it too much). Just ordered a pregnancy Pilates DVD. Hope it's good!

stephie101 · 11/07/2013 18:15

Took ds aged 14 to school, popped to the shop, came back dizzy whilst driving, put my feet up on the bed and slept until 1.30... 16yr old dd thought i had gone out!!
Soooo hungry....giving up smoking isnt going well, back to work tomorrow....1 week to go until i see dp...has been a long 6 weeks...i miss him so much more now even though im miss independent!

PiratesMam · 11/07/2013 18:22

Hello newbie joining!

I am due 8th March so reckon am coming up to 6 weeks. Currently have DS (4) and DD (2). This is 3rd and final child!

Been feeling fine but nausea didn't start until week 7 with the other 2. Am pretty tired but also VERY excited. I've not told anyone IRL apart from husband and mum and my hairdresser. Will probably end up telling the close friends who expect more drinking from me!

Coolhand · 11/07/2013 18:55

Hello all newbies!

I still haven't been able to get a doc's appnt so nothing happening here. Symptoms have def increased - v tender boobs, tiredness, though thankfully only slight nausea.

In terms of size predictions, I'm scared...my dh is 6'10 and their family have big heads. I am a tiny build 5'7, 8 stone, narrow shoulders, hips etc. Last time round, DS was 9'2, his length was about the 75th percentile but head measurement was above the 98th percentile at birth.. He was a misdiagnosed breech (which meant we didn't discover he was breech until I was 5cm dilated) so I was sent for emcs. I had been all geared for a natural birth and done all my natal hypnotherapy - after I saw the size of him, I was terrified of how a natural birth would have gone! This time round I'm hoping for a baby with my build....hoping for 7lb something but will probs have another whopper...eek! All a long way off, so trying not to think about it

RugbyWidow7 · 11/07/2013 19:44

Evening - I have decaf green tea, but not going to drink it now after your research about it preventing folic acid working. Thanks!

I already have baby brain - does anyone else? Struggling to think of words etc. The other thing I've noticed, which I had with my son is that my eyesight is instantly worse with pregnancy. Something about the muscles in the eyes relaxing. I can't read the TV Grin anyone else?

samsmother · 11/07/2013 20:27

Today is day 3 of vomiting and I've burst the blood vessels in my face, I do not look nice... :-(

MummyPig24 · 11/07/2013 20:45

Oh sams that's horrid for you! Thankfully I haven't felt sick today but I expect I will have a few nauseous weeks like last time. Worst symptom is tiredness or maybe the sore boobs.

Coolhand · 11/07/2013 21:19

Oh Sams that's awful. Hope it settles a little soon

Lottie345 · 11/07/2013 21:47

Would quite like a bit of hand holding. Sure it's going to sound really really silly but just got totally freaked out that pulling large amount of hair out of my head. I thought you shed less when pregnant?! I moult a lot anyway but this had me pretty shocked... Worried it could be a sign somethinga not right. Am I crazy? I really really hope it's the lack of sleep and stressful work making me neurotic and tearful rather than some kind of intuition...

My friend had her scan today and is 13w 5 days... Another friends wife has one tomor... I really want the next 6 wks to move on so I know it all is on track.

On a totally different note, I drink rooibos (red bush) which I find similar to tea but which has zero caffeine and is more refreshing. Not everyone's taste but I love it with a dash of milk!

fruitpastille · 11/07/2013 22:12

Lottie, I like red bush too! I used to put a bit of sugar in it too but have been trying to have it without lately. Interesting about green tea. I was on a course at a hotel this week so did choose the green tea for a change a few times but will avoid it now. I don't even like it that much! Need to try some decaf yorkshire tea too, luckily I don't like coffee.

I am feeling a bit guilty about having a small amount of wine - half a glass topped up with fizzy water once this week and last week. My GP was very laid back about it though!

lambchop - where are you going? I went to India a few months ago and thought I might be pg around the time I needed vaccinations. My practise nurse was very reluctant to give them until I was certain I wasn't. I was staying in good accommodation (5 star hotel! Wasn't paying for it!) and it was in an area where the risk of malaria is v.low so in my case it might have been better not to have the vaccinations.

CaptainCalamari · 11/07/2013 22:14

Evening all! I am knackered today... really wanted to take a nap at my desk at work but don't think it would have gone down well! Can't wait to be able to tell people at work!
Just wondering, those of you with older children, have you told them yet? We haven't told DS although he's not really old enough to get it.
Re: size and gender, I'm hoping for a DS2, and given that DS was a tiny 5lber I'm hoping the next one will be at least 7lbs!

JK10 · 11/07/2013 22:35

Real sorry to hear some of u are suffering so bad, I have been so tired I think if I'd of sat I'd of slept! But just think that a lot of us are at the 6 week mark so already held way through the first trimester!

Reg sizes, ds1 7lb 2, dd2 8lb 13, ds3 8lb 13 dd4 7lb 8 so I'm guessing 8-9 lb?

So how about finding out If anyone local to each other? I'm from Bromley- south east London

JK10 · 11/07/2013 22:36

And about excersise, I'll definately be doing yoga and walking. Would like to do an aqua class!! But can't find any!

Lambchop14 · 11/07/2013 23:07

Fruitpastille, thanks for your info. I'm going to Dubai, Kuala Lumpur and Penang. I'm staying with family in Dubai then 3-4 star hotels in KL & Penang. I asked the nurse and she said she wouldn't recommend anyone under 12 weeks getting any vaccinations but there are different opinions on the internet depending on whether the drug is live or not. The other thing I wanted to ask everyone is what does all the abbreviations stand for DS, DH etc and how did you find all of them out?? I don't have a clue! Lol. Also JK10, I live in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Lambchop14 · 11/07/2013 23:12

JK10 I was going to start doing aqua too cos my gym has aqua anti-natal. I don't know if the normal aqua is safe and whether other exercises are safe? I was thinking about just swimming

toasterstrudel · 11/07/2013 23:31

Me and dp both think we'll be having a girl - I'm 5'4" and weigh about 7 stone (naturally - I eat loads), I'm just extremely small framed except my boobs so I'm really hoping to not have a massive baby as I honestly don't think I'd cope haha!

Hope everyone's doing better today -just wondering has anyone had a sharper pain in one side recently? I was having the period cramps but now it's much sharper and in one side - I've been checked for ectopic but it's not that - just a little concerned!

MummyPig24 · 12/07/2013 03:21

Lamb chop its dear husband, dear son etc.

No we haven't told our children yet. We have tested the water over the last few months asking if they would like a baby etc. Dd was a resounding NO! until a few weeks ago and now she wants one so I'm hoping she doesn't change her mind again. Ds is adamant he wants a brother!

IceNoSlice · 12/07/2013 03:33

Lambchop if you're on the desktop site, there's a link at the top to 'getting started' (blue link like 'active' etc). That has all the usual definitions DH, DP, DS etc. Cam't remember the link from mobile site.

Most exercise, done moderately, is fine and encouraged as it is good to be mobile and healthy in pregnancy. There are a few things they don't recommend (sit ups and stuff lying on your back after a certain stage) but most gentle cardio is ok. Check out the NHS website for more info.

stephie101 · 12/07/2013 05:16

I'm in Carmarthenshire Wales...
my dd of 16 was shocked and not impressed, very outspoken young lady, ds of 14 is very happy.
I however am back to work today but I love my job so much, but feel very sick, keep retching and still hungry..
My workies know as we are a very close team and our work is high risk to upset and stress, good to have the added support right now..x

MortifiedAdams · 12/07/2013 06:59

I havent told dd yet, but she is only 19mo so wouldnt get it. We will start prepping her at about 7/8 months Grin

Im in Newcastle!

Tiredness wise I feel OK, not racing to bed each night and only managing to fit the odd nap in on days Im.off work (next nap.will be Sunday!)

Cant wait for the scan!

JK10 · 12/07/2013 07:34

I too had no idea about what all the little abbreviations mean! But I found them all on peeonastick web, have a look!

I haven't told kids yet, I'm waiting till the 12 week scan at least and I'll wait and see how long I can go before the bump pops!!

May sound silly but is it worth asking your family in Dubai if they give vaccines whilst pregnant? Really don't know what to say, it's a really hard one.

Dd sports day today and end of yr mums dinner! No drinking for me! Need to think if excuses! Any ideas?

Have a nice day up to 29 again tomorrow!

stephie101 · 12/07/2013 07:38
