I found you all! Yey!

I dropped of the planet for this thread, when it gets really big it takes ages to load on my phone and I didn't have my laptop for a while :)

Today I realised I couldn't have coffee. It made me sick :( I love Coffee! I'm also counting to my scan, 2 weeks on Saturday :)

I also seem to eating loads of sweets. I'm a crisp person normally, and I've not been bothered with them, but haribo type sweets are amazing!

alteredimages · 19/06/2013 14:43

Wow! Up to 200 messages all ready! You guys can really talk. Grin

Hope everyone is having a happy Wednesday.

sarahleanne I have no baby stuff from DD so will be buying a minimum of stuff second hand. Husband has nixed putting baby to sleep in a cardboard box, so will have to buy a Moses basket. Also looking to buy a sling, nappies and clothes. Think that's it. Baby can have a bath in the sink, old towels will do in place of muslin squares. Flat is on the third floor with a narrow spiral staircase so a buggy would be useless and we don't have a car. Might get a carrycot to take baby home in. Will buy a new mattress for the moses basket and a couple of sheets and blankets. Hoping to keep total spend under ?250. I learned having dd abroad how little of what we regard as essential is actually necessary and in any case will be moving continents when baby is about 6 months so will have to leave most things behind anyway.

I wouldn't buy anything new except for car seats and mattresses. And breast pumps and bottles but hopefully won't need any. I am completely shameless about accepting/soliciting hand me downs. It's amazing what people have lying around that they don't want any more. I don't understand how babies have become so expensive since we were young!

Vatta · 19/06/2013 14:58

Hi sarahjayne I'm in east London

Apparentlychilled · 19/06/2013 15:10

Hi all,

I'm a newbie here as my EDD was moved today, following an early scan (due to previous ectopic last October). My EDD is now 24 Jan, though I'm expecting an early arrival, as my first arrived at 37+1 and 36+1.

Booking in appointment is next Wednesday and I guess scan will be in around mid July.

MrsAVB · 19/06/2013 15:54

Welcome and congrats rubber and apparently!
sarah I think your "D"P warrants reuse of COCKWOMBLE and CUNTPUFFIN!
humpty glad your midwife was lovely, exciting stuff!
Altered I found your post really interesting. We also don't have a car and live up two flights of stairs so I've been saying to DH - do we really need a buggy/ pram and car seat? Did you manage without for your first? And totally agree re. getting as much as possible second hand, there's no way I'm spending more than necessary!
X

MrsAVB · 19/06/2013 15:55

Oh and I'm in SE London.

enormouse · 19/06/2013 15:55

alteredimages really admire your controlled approach. I will try and follow your teachings and not be seduced by the mothercare catalogue.

apparently hi and welcome. My edd is provisionally the 24th but might change when I go for my booking appointment/scan. I'm expecting a late arrival, went almost 2 weeks over with DS. I'm hoping the baby might arrive on my DPs birthday (31st)

is anyone else having lower back pain? I've been suffering with it since last night but I'm not sure what to do. Is it a bad sign?

Hope everyone's having a good day x.

LittlePeaPod · 19/06/2013 16:06

Welcome and congratulations to all the new ladies Flowers

enormous I have had lower back pain and the stretchy pains in my uterus. I think it's all growing pains.... Grin

Apparentlychilled · 19/06/2013 16:08

has anyone else been utterly exhausted, only for it to improve? My DH says I was pooped throughout with both of ours, but I'm hoping against hope that things improve....

MrsGSR · 19/06/2013 16:11

enormouse I've had some lower back pain, mostly in the few week weeks but it comes and goes. I have a bad back anyway due to a childhood accident so I might not be typical!

SarahJ I hope your OH realises he was out of order and starts to spoil you!

Talking about buying baby stuff, I've made a list of the essentials and then we're buying them as and when we find them on sale! We got a moses basket for £14 new from asda, we weren't planning on getting anything this early but couldn't resist! We're keeping it in its plastic wrapper and figure if we don't use it we could probably sell it on without losing any money.

MrsGSR · 19/06/2013 16:13

apparently I really hope it improves! I'm having to have a nap each afternoon and when I'm awake I'm completely useless!

Apparentlychilled · 19/06/2013 16:17

MrsGSR- with my DD (who is 4.5), I clearly remember feeling great in my 2nd trimester and even the beginning of my third trimester (up till about 30 weeks), and even enjoying weddings (we had about 4 that year while I was pg), as long as I got to bed by midnight (ha! These days 10pm is an achievement!). With DS, I don't remember enjoying pregnancy- I just remember being exhausted the whole time and feeling awful.

Yorkiedodah · 19/06/2013 16:19

Been a while since I posted, thanks to all the ladies kind words re clutch-gate (thread 4) that driving instructor has been replaced.

Had an awful last few days. Tried to get a GP appointment on Monday as I fainted in the morning - called in work sick. Got one for later in the day and the useless knobjockey DR told me and DP that this was something that was just normal with ms. I had not managed to keep any food or water down all weekend and and could barely walk. He gave me some anti sickness tablets the appointment lasted for about 2 minutes!!. Got a taxi home - GPs is a 5 min walk from the house. :(

So I'm back home and I fainted again. DP called ambulance and they were great. Took blood sugar, and some other tests - I think a heart trace. Taken to hospital where after a urine sample was told I was severely dehydrated and suffering with hyperemesis. After several tests I was put on two bags of drips for about 3 hours! Doctor said food wasn't the upmost importance for me but water DEFO was. The meds I have been given make me drowsy and I'm likely to be off work for the next few weeks.

Called the school and spoke to the Head about the pregnancy. I know she doesn't need to know now as such but the school's going through major staffing issues and she's been soo supportive previously. Told me kids were blessings and I should rest up and get better.

Feeling a bit better but woosy. Anyone else really suffering? Or better yet - felt totally let down by their GP???

Right need to catch up on thread 5 x :)

curlywurlyllass · 19/06/2013 16:21

mrsavp u took the words right out my mouth about sarahjayne's man.... cuntpuffin seems appropriate!

enormous back pain here, along with that hip pain others were talking of having. Im quite glad as the last few days ive been para my symptoms were non exsistent....

fryingpan my work have a sweetie jar filled to the brim with haribo and aero bubbles chocs mmmmm its horrendus walking by it all the time occasionally dipping my fat wee hand in it

Im in scotland (west) and struggling with the midgies already, roll on wintertime :)

Not bought a thing yet- terrified of jinxing things, might feel less anxious by january and start looking around then lol but when i do im thinking like altered i would have thought a cardboard box cot an excellent sleeping solution... But i suppose there are health and safety issues!

Hi apparently

Congrats to all those with positive scans and appointments, hope they continue

Xx

enormouse · 19/06/2013 16:23

Thanks pod and MrsGSR I have quite a bad back anyway. Still hefting around a non walking toddler so it's probably that with stretching pains. If it gets worse/lasts I'll get it checked with the gp.

apparently I am absolutely shattered. I don't remember being as bad during my pregnancy with DS. I thought I'd be fine again (more fool me) but it's completely different this time.

LittlePeaPod · 19/06/2013 16:24

Apparently I have been exhausted since 5 weeks and still exhausted at 11+1.... MW has told me at past appointments that for most women, ms/tiredness etc. start to disappear in the second trimester (which we all know). But she said the reason is the high levels of pregnancy hormones which contribute to sickness and tiredness start to diminish. The higher your levels the worse you feel.

LittlePeaPod · 19/06/2013 16:32

Yorkie sorry to hear that. I have HG and have spent time in hospital and its awful. Your dr sounds like a total dick... The meds do help even though you feel tired....

Expectans · 19/06/2013 16:33

Hi all! Can I join you?

Just had my first scan today, and all is well, so finally I thought I can join in (lurking for a while!).

I can't believe I'm actually having a baby! (My first) It was jumping around on the scan - weird that I couldn't feel anything.

:)

Sultanajo · 19/06/2013 16:33

Welcome Rubber - that's so great for you this time! So pleased for you!

Frying glad you found us! Last time Haribo was all that helped me but this time I can't go near them...

Altered the trouble is (especially for a first timer) everything looks so tempting and cute! I KNOW I will end up with crap I don't need, despite me being determined not to. When I see it all I am sure I will just melt.....so weak!!! However, I am going to be as sensible as I possibly can - not getting baby baths or anything like that (she says now.....) Wink

Welcome Apparently! Congratulations!!! Yup - struggling big time this afternoon! Still got 3 hours of work after my break! MUST STAY AWAKE!!!

Yorkie OMG! Your GP IS a knobjockey! That's unbelievably negligent! Talk about assuming and not paying attention! Thank goodness you go the treatment you needed! Bless you! Not surprised you are feeling rough now!

Well I definitely spoke too soon earlier (just flippin knew it) but I guess at least a few hours of feeling better is better than nothing. Back to mega nausea and unbelievably exhausted! Doh! Blush

Sultanajo · 19/06/2013 16:35

Welcome Expectans and huge congratulations. So great to see how excited you are! It's incredible isn't it and really weird that you can't feel the active little monkey leaping about inside! Some days I still wonder if it's real, despite having had scans and feeling like shite! Wink

Penny31 · 19/06/2013 16:37

Wow busy today ladies! I will catch up properly later but I'm looking for help. I'm so confused about my EDD.

So the first day of my last cycle was 24th march. I had an unusually long cycle that month and period was a week late. My ovulation stick was positive on the 4th April. Based on these facts I thought my EDD was 28th December.

Yesterday at my twelve week scan they said I am 13+4 and I thought I was 12+2. They have out my EDD as 20th December. But this means I conceived before my last period.

My head hurts!!!

extracrunchy · 19/06/2013 16:39

Sarah - I'm the same re buying stuff. Not if I can help it!! Hope you're feeling ok.

I'm in West London.

Scan was fine! Wriggly little one with good hb now dated 26/12 (!!) no obvious cause for blood. Woo hoo!

Penny31 · 19/06/2013 16:39

Ps my baby was not active on the scan, midwife made me cough to make it move! Lazy bugger. Hope its nothing to worry about.
