Hi everyone, hope you had good wkends, I'm looking forward to my holiday next Saturday (although won't be the usual sunbathing with wine flowing!), still can't wait just to relax especially as I'm feeling a bit rough and sick today! Work are piling on the pressure ahead of my hols but who cares, in one week I will be off for two weeks woop!

Just wondered when the really preggers people started to get lightning crotch/cervix pangs? So I can be prepared and not go into cervix panic!

OP posts:

Do you know I was just about to start speculating about where you were Cavort - I'm a bit disappointed that you're not in labour I was feeling hopeful for you!

Got hold of Mr Purple, he was very casual about it all and is still at work, oh well, he's probably got a point, no pains yet (aside from the usual backache natch) so I think I could be sitting here dressed like a sumo wrestler for a while yet!

Janey - Keep us updated as and when you can, we're all rooting for the little guy to hurry up and be in Mummy's arms ASAP.

Purplemonster · 28/06/2013 17:35

Laugh away Brave - it will be you on your hands and knees desperately trying to mop gloppy bodily fluids off your kitchen floor while you're still leaking more everywhere soon enough Wink

janey1234 · 28/06/2013 17:48

How exciting purple! Got everything crossed it all kicks off soon - and is a lovely short labour!
Did smile a lot about your dogs - first smile for an hour or two so thank you!

Fwiw my DP thinks you're all men pretending to be knocked up women. Quite why anyone would do that (let's face it out chats are v pregnancy focused and not that exciting to anyone not knocked up!) I don't know Confused

Cavort · 28/06/2013 18:26

No such luck I'm afraid Purple Sad Have you phoned your MW or MAU? What did they say? I thought they like you to go get checked after waters going even if there are no contractions?

Janey I can't believe your DP has rumbled me. Did my prosthetic bump give it away? Wink

CatsCantFlyFast · 28/06/2013 19:13

Nipping in to say congrats to Janey and good luck to purple

Purplemonster · 28/06/2013 19:34

They said to phone again in the morning if nothing had happened by then Cavort.

I'm starting to think my rapidly deflating giant bump was all water and it's actually quite a small baby in there. Still leaking everywhere in quite significant quantities. They just don't cover how to cope with these things in ante natal classes so I've had to improvise. After soaking through maternity pad after maternity pad (buy more than you think! I'm seriously short now) have resorted to wearing a pair of OHs pants with an entire hand towel stuffed down it and have gone through several of those. Janey's DP - do you seriously think a man could make this shit up?!
It's not glamorous but it's also not scary or painful yet either before I scare anyone! Grin

Frogcatcher · 28/06/2013 19:41

I'm sorry purple but you're just making me laugh at the comedy picture you're painting!

Purplemonster · 28/06/2013 19:51

Grin I aim to please, don't see how you can take anyone seriously that's got towels stuffed down their knickers!

Cavort · 28/06/2013 20:23

How's it going with little Miles Janey?

Hilarious mental image of the newly small-bumped Purple on sofa with hand towels stuffed down mens pants although I am taking all this in for reference. Grin
When my mate's waters went she was home alone and said she just went an sat in the empty bath with her phone until she could get someone to come and help her. Oh, it's just all so glamorous daaahling! Wink

Hazle have they let you escape for the night?

Just wanted to run it by you guys... an absolutely mahoosive piece of Millionaires Cheesecake with double cream is another natural method to start labour, right? Well nothing else is bloody well working.

MotherOfCleo · 28/06/2013 20:34

Purple your image of dogs licking your waters as you do a bambi on ice impression on the laminate made me laugh out loud. Hope you have some more news soon and baby gets the memo thats its eviction night! Wink

Hope Miles is ok Janey, sending lots of love your way.

Hi Merkin, hows everything with you? Good I hope!!

HazleNutt · 28/06/2013 20:48

Yay I was finally released. They were grumbling but as they were not planning to do anything overnight then I figured I'd rather sleep in my own bed. Was warned that they will probably want to induce tomorrow.

Cavort · 28/06/2013 20:53

Good news Hazle. Everybody will have their babies by the end of this weekend except me! Envy

Purplemonster · 28/06/2013 21:14

Oh that's good news Hazle, you'll get much more rest at home.

Mother - it made me laugh out loud as well! It's a very bewildering thing being in the house on your own leaking everywhere and not knowing quite what to do about it.

thanks for the well wishes Merkin.

Come on Cavort's baby

janey1234 · 28/06/2013 21:42

Hi merkin! Hope all is ok with you and thanks for your thoughts..

Hazle - glad you're home, sounds like an exciting day ahead tomorrow. Good luck and get lots of sleep.

Finally allowed out of bed. Persuaded them to take cathatar out and walked round to see him. He looks so teeny, knocked out on morphine and hooked up to machines. Can't stop thinking about wires by athlete, making me want to cry... No news really, except I don't think he's any worse, which has got to be a good thing. I just wish he was able to breathe for himself HmmHe is totally gorgeous, will try to post a pic of him later, before he was whisked off to nicu, when we had our two hours of snuggles

Oh and tried to express spome colustrum for him. Unsurprisingly my shitty non-working boobs failed to produce anything... Hmm

HazleNutt · 28/06/2013 21:56

janey I think it could take more time after a CS for the boobs to start working? Definitely good news he's stable.

cavort when they were monitoring you, did the machine show contractions? Apparently I'm having small ones quite regularly according to the reading, but can't feel a thing. Of course hoping for the labour to start naturally, so I could stay home for as long as possible.

Cavort · 28/06/2013 22:07

They never said anything about contractions Hazle so I guess not. That's good news if you are, FX things kick off soon naturally. Smile

Purplemonster · 29/06/2013 04:38

So for the second night running I've had no sleep whatsoever, yesterday it was backache, today it's contractions, I'm very tired. WIBU to smother the snoring smug fucker that I live with for sleeping thorough it all again when I'm awake and in pain?

HazleNutt · 29/06/2013 05:59

Totally reasonable, Purple.

But at least you have contractions. None here, at least nothing I can feel. Let's see what the hospital says.

MotherOfCleo · 29/06/2013 08:26

totally reasonable Purple!! FX baby is with you soon

HazleNutt · 29/06/2013 08:46

So there are contractions, still cant feel them, and no more dilated. Will have another session of monitoring in a couple of hours and discuss options then. But it's my own doc here today and he does not seem concerned or that eager to induce, so we might just be able to go back home and wait for it to progress naturally. Would much rather wait there than sit in hospital.

Purplemonster · 29/06/2013 08:52

So after regular contractions all night they stopped early this morning and now only getting one every half hour or so. So I'm off to the hospital at 1pm so they can c heck me out and will induce this afternoon if nothing has got going again. So might still end up being induced after all, grrr.

Cavort · 29/06/2013 09:17

Well I was hoping to log on this morning to news of the arrival of baby Purple. Sad It sounds like she is well on the way though. Wink Damn you contractions for stopping, especially after a sleepless night!! Grr! If you have already been contracting then FX it means any possible induction works quickly. And either way baby will be arriving today or tomorrow - how exciting!!

FWIW my friend who gave birth this week was really keen to give me advice on pain relief where she feels she herself made a mistake. She said don't wait until the pain is unbearable before asking for it. If you are open minded to having some it is better to ask/have it while you are still coping as it takes ages to actually get it. She wanted epidural but it took so long to get it she was ready to push by the time the anaesthetist turned up. She wishes she had asked much sooner.

That's good news Hazle if they let things just progress naturally at home. It is what I want as well.

BraveLilBear · 29/06/2013 10:28

Morning all... waving pompoms for Hazle and Purple - hope things kickstart naturally, but if not, just go with what you need. You'll be fab.

Love to Janey too, can't imagine what it must feel like seeing your baby hooked up on lots of wires, especially if you weren't expecting it. Hope he is stronger soon so you can have lots of cuddles. Flowers

Quodlibet · 29/06/2013 10:29

Wow I am away for a day and it all kicks off!

Massive congratulations Janey on Miles. It must be so hard having him treated but I am sure it won't be long before he is ready to go home.

Purple I am wishing you well today. Let's hope we get another Berry baby by the end of the day. It did make me laugh the image of your dogs getting in there.

Hazle hang in there - it must be frustrating but fx you are also well on the way.

(Btw if that Frankie woman is only a week or two ahead of me I will eat my hat - she's huge!)

It's a busy weekend for me here - my big show went up last night, it was a tough day because of the rain (its an outdoor show) but rain stopped in time and show was a massive success. One more tonight and then that's 7 months of hard work over, phew.

Cavort · 29/06/2013 10:45

Any update on lovely little Miles this morning Janey? It's great that you were up and about so soon after CS so you could go sit with him. And I'm sure your boobs will come to the party soon. It must take a while after an artificial birth for your body to notice that you are no longer upduffed and that milk is required. Come on Janey's boobs! And sorry to pester but we need a photo of the gorgeous little man you've been growing for 40 weeks. Grin

Quod I am intrigued by what you seem to do for a living - a big outdoor show sounds very exciting compared to my dull arsed job. Well done on bringing the house down on your first night. Grin
