Hi everyone, hope you had good wkends, I'm looking forward to my holiday next Saturday (although won't be the usual sunbathing with wine flowing!), still can't wait just to relax especially as I'm feeling a bit rough and sick today! Work are piling on the pressure ahead of my hols but who cares, in one week I will be off for two weeks woop!

Just wondered when the really preggers people started to get lightning crotch/cervix pangs? So I can be prepared and not go into cervix panic!

OP posts:

Aww, I absolutely HATE cleaning windows, do I have to? The bay window is a particularly disgusting mass of smeared doggy nose prints though so it does need doing...but then the dogs mess it up again within minutes and I lose the will!
I'm genuinely starting to give up on the idea of this baby turning up on its own, I'm going to end up being induced, it seems almost inevitable now.

janey1234 · 26/06/2013 10:09

Hmm Purple

What's the plan now then? How long will they wait before induction?

Quodlibet · 26/06/2013 10:11

Come on Berries! One of you has got to beat Janey to it before Friday. I say we want at least two Berry babies by the weekend.

In other news I am pretty sure what I am feeling is regular movement now - or rather, I've had it several times over the past week or so and it's pretty distinct. I am of reasonably 'slight build' so it's possible I could be feeling things a little early (15+2 now). I can't wait til it gets more definite - the realisation that there's something in there is quite mindbending although I'm sure it stops being so amazing when you've got someone booting you in the ribs

janey1234 · 26/06/2013 10:25

Ah quod it is an amazing feeling isn't it Smile Without doubt my best part of pregnancy. My favourite point was at about 25 weeks when the movements are really really strong, but the baby has loads of room to move around. My whole stomach would lurch from side to side -DP and I would just lie watching it, astounded. It is mind blowing.Smile

Purplemonster · 26/06/2013 10:47

Aww Quod that's so exciting! I could definitely feel movement by 16 weeks so don't doubt that you can feel little movements already, it's so nice when your DP can feel them too but you'll have to wait a few more weeks for that!

Janey - I'm seeing my consultant Friday morning and if baby isn't moving out on her own he'll book me for evictioninduction and i'll be given another sweep Friday too just in case but the stubborn little one doesn't seem bothered about moving as her head still isn't engaged.

I guess they will prob induce Monday or Tuesday? Due date is Tuesday and I know they don't want me to go over that and given that my cervix seems ok with the idea they've no reason not to induce so by this time next week I hopefully should have a baby but that still doesn't seem soon enough! It's really looking like you might win the race!

BraveLilBear · 26/06/2013 11:55

Morning all

Was incommunicado yesterday as off work with a cold and my internet at home was busted. Still feeling rough today, but have to had to haul myself in because I'm training some senior management types this arvo and my boss would panic if I wasn't here because she is incompetent

Yay to wiggly bean on scan frog and getting wiggly feelings on the inside quod - it is totally the most amazing feeling ever - even when you are getting booted in the ribs (honest)

I've started playing games with mine... Sometimes it'll stick its foot out of my side and I'll push on it. It moves away, then gently pushes back! tho could be coincidence

Other times, if I rest something warm on top of my bump, it'll push its bum up (towards the warmth) and stay there! It did this the other day when I was resting friends 3-week-old on my bump. Baby seemes surprisingly unbothered by this despite the fact he was getting booted in the back by his 'friend'!

HazleNutt · 26/06/2013 12:05

Wow next weekend and beginning of week sounds busy! Would be fun to have at least some berry babies sharing a birthday.

MotherOfCleo · 26/06/2013 12:25

Yep, fingers crossed we have a busy week next week with lots of new little faces!

I felt my little man the first time at 14 weeks, I was in a hot bath a felt him squirm, then a week or so later I ate my body weight in skittles and he was dancing around lots. He moves lots at the moment (21 weeks) but nothing big enough for my OH to feel yet, plus it all seems to be his feet, he is breech so all the movement is very low down. My OH can't wait to feel him move though. Fingers crossed he can feel it soon.

janey1234 · 26/06/2013 12:40

I think I was about 21-22 weeks when DP could feel movement - shouldn't be long! Smile

Purplemonster · 26/06/2013 12:57

Ha yes and after weeks of me saying 'can you feel that?' and OH saying 'no', the first time he did feel it I put his hand on my stomach and baby obliged by booting him really hard and he jumped like he'd been bitten! It was so funny. I'm ever so slightly envious of the berries that are in the sort of 12-20 something weeks bit, it really does seem to be the nicest, most exciting bit of pregnancy.

MotherOfCleo · 26/06/2013 13:28

Oh exciting Janey, FX it happens soon! Haha Purple, hope the same thing happens to us that would be really funny Smile

Frogcatcher · 26/06/2013 13:39

Yes, can I stay at this stage till 40 weeks pls? I don't feel pg at all now that nausea & tiredness have gone except for the hideous indigestion I got from pepper sauce last night, boobs are bigger than stomach & clothes still fit.

I do want to start buying stuff though & feel a bit of a fraud in the shop without a bump!

Sounds like next week is d-day(s) then!

Cavort · 26/06/2013 14:06

So.... sweep was uncomforable but fine. Cervix still fairly posterior but is effaced and 1cm dilated so heading in the right direction and she managed to get a finger in. Plug came away all over her hand, which looked like something from a horror film when she took it out. Blush

BUT (and it was all going so well) baby's heart rate dropped immediately afterwards so MW sent me straight to MAU for a trace. Been hooked up for about 40 mins snd everything looks ok, but because MW observed low H/R they say I might have to give birth on the consultant unit instead, or they mught even suggest induction now. Just waiting for the Registrar to come speak to me.

And as birth trial runs go, this has been really helpful as DH is still not here, can't find a parking space and has not got any change for parking. Bloody men!! Angry

MotherOfCleo · 26/06/2013 14:18

Oh Cavort, thinking of you and hope all is ok!! Try not to kill your OH when he does arrive, bloody men! 1cm is a damn good start, hopefully all is good with bubs and everything moves along nicely from now on.

Frog I have a very low bump which makes me look a bit like a lard arse. Not how I imagined myself looking. Also not helped by the bosses daughter saying this morning, I saw you at the other end of the office and thought 'wow she's really let herself go', then dad reminded me that you were pregnant, oh thanks love, glad I look like the cookie monster. Sad

janey1234 · 26/06/2013 14:32

Oh cavort, you poor thing. It's never simple is it?!

I put £8.70 in change in DP's car this morning for that very reason. He would never have thought of it!

So you may be induced today? Exciting - you might win the race! Thinking of you and really, really hope all goes smoothly for you. And I guess consultant unit not all bad as it does mean epidural on hand if need be... Good luck!x

HazleNutt · 26/06/2013 14:41

Fx for you cavort

Cavort · 26/06/2013 15:38

Thanks guys. I am back home again and FX everything is ok. Smile I quite fancied a bit of stress when I woke up this morning, I find it really adds to my day. Hmm Grin

They were considering moving me to definite CLU but have agreed to just assess me when I turn up in labour, which means there's still a chance of having the MLU. I obviously want what's safest for baby but I feel more comfortable with the thought of the MLU if possible.

And DH is getting some change to put in his car. Smile

HazleNutt · 26/06/2013 15:40

Regarding the home induction project here, we have - very clean windows. We don't have - contractions. Unsurprisingly.

Frogcatcher · 26/06/2013 16:22

Glad to hear all ok cavort even if it was stressful. I have started a Tupperware pot of silver already for hospital visits! My DP is in the police & I've asked if he can bring home an unmarked car with lights or at least a stick on light when we get to EDD. No one is going to argue with that driven fast or parked illegally!

Boo cleo I want one of those football up jumper ones pls. My mum cheerfully told me yesterday that even when I've lost any baby weight some of my clothes such as nice dresses with zips may not fit again as my ribs won't go back again. She's really looking forward to me being fatter than her & being able to borrow clothes I can't wear I think!

BraveLilBear · 26/06/2013 16:44

Crikey Cavort what a drama. So glad bubs is okay though and that a lesson has been learned re car park change every cloud and all that

Fingers crossed you still get MLU - but CLU's aren't the end of the world either. I know I'm saying that because I don't have a choice, but really, people do have normal births there... even if the environment is not as nice.

Glad to hear your windows are shiny Hazle - what next... floors? Surely a shiny floor will guarantee gush of broken waters....??

That's mean Frog Sad as it happens, I apparently have a football up jumper bump (tho the word beachball has been used) - at least I have so far. Apparently it's not just stretchmarks that come after 37 weeks, sometimes that's when puffy face and lard arse kicks in too Hmm

Purplemonster · 26/06/2013 17:20

Oh my gosh! I go out for a couple of hours to avoid cleaning my filthy windows and miss all the drama!

Glad you're ok Cavort, it sounds pretty stressful. Thinking back they didn't monitor the heartbeat after my sweeps though they did it first so it sounds like your midwife is a bit more thorough which is good.

I got on my Mum's scales today and despite everyone telling me I don't look pregnant from the back and that although I've got a big bump I'm still thin everywhere else I appear to have gained a whopping two and a half stone - what a porker! I am NOT looking forward to trying to lose all of that after the baby - I know some of it is baby, fluid, placenta etc but not two and a half stone! Eeek! I'm actually FAT!

BraveLilBear · 26/06/2013 17:31

Purple - good for you! Actually that's a standard weight gain - not a porker at all. Plus you have an actual end date.

I've whacked on 2 stone already but could have up to 6 weeks to go. Dreading the final tally Confused

janey1234 · 26/06/2013 17:52

Ditto purple. Annoyingly I had piled on a stone over the 12 months before getting pregnant too, so I've got three and a half stone to get to the weight if like to be - and a wedding dress to get at some point too. Big old fatty that I am.

The midwife however is always reassuring me that the weight gain if fine and very, very normal. She said last time I would have had to put on more than a stone more than I have before it even vaguely concerned her, and that my BMI is v healthy for my height. I of course don't believe her and just feel obese.

Glad you're home cavort and all seems fine. Fx the sweep does something now apart from just cause you stress!

Decided to try to have my first nap of mat leave this afternoon, as I was up at 5am this morning. I did sleep for an hour, but now I just feel dazed, confused and a bit sick - and more tired than beforehand. This sleeping when the baby does thing is going to take done getting used to!

janey1234 · 26/06/2013 17:54

Cross post brave. Weirdly I haven't put on any weight at all for the last few weeks which is odd given I just sit at home all day eating now so you won't necessarily put on much more! I haven't put on even 1lb in the last five weeks.

Cavort · 26/06/2013 20:23

Frog your ribs won't go back where? I didn't realise they moved? I might be wrong because I obviously haven't managed to expel baby yet, but I don't think mine have moved. Kicked to death, yes, but not moved.
And good idea about the Police car, although I wouldn't want unmarked, I would want the full monty riot van with lights and sirens shunting other motorists out of the way. Grin

Brave it's not the thought of the CLU that bothers me, it's that if I end up there I will have to have constant monitoring to keep an eye on heart rate which means I will be mostly stuck in bed on my back, whereas if I am deemed low risk enough to be allowed to go to MLU I should be able to keep mobile which I would much prefer. I guess I will just have to see when I check into the baby hotel.

Ahh the weight gain It's so hard to get your head around isn't it? Even though I know it's healthy and for the greater good I still hate seeing the scales going up and feeling like a whale. I haven't been on the scales for a few weeks and have been eating loads of crap, but last time I checked I had put about 26 pounds on so I wouldn't be surprised if that was about 30lbs now. I might be brave and get on the scales in the morning. I have been using this weight tracker to reassure myself that my gain is normal

I wouldn't say today has been particularly strenuous, but I got back from the hospital and passed out for 2 hours, and I still feel knackered now. I got a reasonably good nights sleep last night as well. I hope the sweep works but I think I am too tired to go into labour tonight! Hmm
