Hi everyone, hope you had good wkends, I'm looking forward to my holiday next Saturday (although won't be the usual sunbathing with wine flowing!), still can't wait just to relax especially as I'm feeling a bit rough and sick today! Work are piling on the pressure ahead of my hols but who cares, in one week I will be off for two weeks woop!

Just wondered when the really preggers people started to get lightning crotch/cervix pangs? So I can be prepared and not go into cervix panic!

OP posts:

HazleNutt · 26/06/2013 20:27

hmm that's another idea, get really tired so you're too knackered for labour, that might work..

Cavort · 26/06/2013 20:33

I can't imagine you ever getting too knackered for labour Superwoman Hazle Grin

Frogcatcher · 26/06/2013 20:46

cavort my mum was v skinny & her ribs had to separate slightly & expand outwards a bit to fit baby in apparently. I'm also slim but I don't think I'm as thin as she was back then (think twiggy fashion I guess). I wore her wedding dress for fancy dress when I was a teenager & it was tight then!

Purplemonster · 26/06/2013 20:53

Nope, forget being too tired, I've come up with the ultimate Sod's law plan...I've washed the covers from the car seat, they're sopping wet and can't be tumble dried

My midwife has never once mentioned my weight so I only checked out of interest, it just sounds like such a lot but then I reckon I'm carrying a few extra pounds just on my fat bloated feet!

Oh and Cavort - if you do need constant monitoring ask if they have wireless monitors, I would have thought they will if its a big hospital, that way you can still move around (this is exactly why I've transferred to a different hospital rather than going to my local one)

Cavort · 26/06/2013 21:17

It's a big hospital and only a couple of years old Purple so hopefully they do have wireless monitors but I will definitely ask.

Good plan re car seat washing. FX it works! I wouldn't even know how to get the covers off ours, and it's still precariously wedged into a cupboard with the pram at the moment. Blush

I am not holding out much hope of this sweep working... I haven't had so much as a period pain since and no bleeding apart from the horror that came away on MW's hand.

Purplemonster · 26/06/2013 22:41

Yeah my car seat was second hand though and it only occurred to me today that I should maybe wash it, oops!

My sweep clearly didn't do anything either and I did bleed all bloody day after it. Starting to think that these babies only come out when they want to no matter what you do (unless you go for eviction via sunroof).

HazleNutt · 27/06/2013 07:08

40+6. Nothing's happening, not even a twinge.

janey1234 · 27/06/2013 08:04

Hmm Hazle

I've got a consultant appt at 11am in which I find out if I'm having an elcs. Weird it's all happening so late - find out today, booked in for tomorrow.

Starting to feel very real and suddenly am overcome with jealousy over Alex, who's sunning herself in Marbella right now. Lucky cow Wink

HazleNutt · 27/06/2013 08:20

Well just called the hospital and they said that oh no, they probably won't induce tomorrow. Just have to show up for appointment and if everything is ok, will have a check up every other day.

I'm never having this baby, will be pregnant for 2 years like other elephants..

Cavort · 27/06/2013 08:37

NOTHING??? Bugger!

Nothing at all here either. Angry Baby decided to try and make a bid for freedom through my bellybutton between midnight and 2am so I'm still quite tired but that's about it.

Ooo Janey how exciting that this time tomorrow you could be gowned up and heading for theatre! Grin

I thought that yesterday about Alex but her time will come....

Cavort · 27/06/2013 08:45

Apologies in advance for the Daily Fail link, but WTAF??

I was considering having a bath and that's about it!

Purplemonster · 27/06/2013 09:14

Oh ffs, that's ridiculous! Not only that, it wouldn't even work for me, I could have all the beauty treatments in the world (not that I would, not my thing) and know that within minutes of any sort of exertion (let alone hours of labour) I'd have a bright red blotchy face and mad frizzy hair - these must be those women who come out of the gym looking serene and groomed rather than a sweaty mess, they're clearly robots.

HazleNutt · 27/06/2013 09:22

Hm I could actually go get some beauty treatments I guess...not that they would make much of a difference, like planting flowers around a nuclear plant, but just because I'm so bored. I have no idea how those women manage who stop working months before due date.

Cavort · 27/06/2013 09:31

I couldn't wait to finish work but it is boring isn't it? I can't wait until I have a baby filling up my time.

I am going to drag the dog up big hills this morning and then I am going to spend this afternoon cuddling my friend's newborn and getting details of the birth.

I think my DH may be having some kind of pre-baby stress crisis... he's usually up and out about 7.15 but he's turned off his alarm this morning and is still in bed, despite spending most of last night telling me how busy he is and how there aren't enough hours in the day. Confused This is very unlike him. Confused Confused

BraveLilBear · 27/06/2013 10:14

I see your point about the CLU = monitoring, I hadn't thought of that babybrain

Enjoying the Operation Eviction commentaries - it really is a race! I bet you all three turn up with babes in arms within half an hour of each other Grin

FX for your consultant app Janey You nervous? or excited?

Had another weird dream last night/this morning - I was at my mum's house, DP nowhere near, and suddenly felt a head 'down there' so decided to push, with the help of a metal shoehorn (!). Produced baby in a matter of minutes with no pain, and it was a girl with brown eyes (a bit like Dora the Explorer) - but despite being distinctly human (she needed rubbing on her back to make her breathe) she then turned into a weird doll, so I wrapped her up and put her in a box with a cellophane front (plus small airgap) to keep her warm.

So weird.

Quodlibet · 27/06/2013 11:09

Ew that DM article is grim! The woman in the first pic doesn't look like she's been anywhere near a birth - I think it looks scarily like she has stolen a newborn.

I have realised here that despite no bump yet, my abdominals have already separated and I've got a weird bulge down the middle of my (not very visible) six-pack when I lean backwards Sad. Not good news for either vanity or back-problem related reasons so I have been googling 'Tupler technique' and have booked a preventive appointment with my osteo for next week.

Purplemonster · 27/06/2013 11:32

Do you think these babies are hanging on until we've all had our makeovers done then? Because I could be in for a long wait, it will be a cold day in hell when I willingly let someone Oompa Loompa me.

Right, I refuse to sit around the house bored and weeping and wailing about my back (which incidentally is getting so bad I keep eyeing up the carving knives in the kitchen and wondering if a DIY section would make the pain go away) so I'm going swimming with my friend and her toddler then off to a lovely local deli for lunch. I thought feck it and bunged the do not tumble dry car seat bits in the drier on cool - I'm totally past caring if the damn things melt

HazleNutt · 27/06/2013 11:51

not planning to get tangoed, but have actually booked an appointment to get lashes and eyebrows tinted - they are blonde, I look like a rabbit without makeup. took one of the cats to vet for vaccinations, will take the dogs for a long walk and..then can't think of anything else to do. Still not even a hint of any kind of signs that anything might be happening any time soon..

janey how did it go? Are you having a baby tomorrow?

BraveLilBear · 27/06/2013 13:04

Just read that link. Feel mildly depressed by it! How on earth are we ever going to educate the manfolk on this planet that we are not here simply to look good for them?!

I am planning to get my hair nicely coloured and cut once I go on mat leave, one as a preventative measure as won't get a chance for months afterwards, and two as I'll finally have the cash to splash out on a professional colour after eons of tight budgeting tho should really buy more baby stuff

But that's about the maximum I can justify! Would love a wax but don't think I can get a bikini line done again after my abscess experience (not caused by waxing, but waxing makes them more likely)

Harrumph.

What news Janey??

Frogcatcher · 27/06/2013 13:24

Ugh makes me hate the DM even more! Makes me feel better that I'm refusing all photos till I've been passed a hairbrush & mineral powder tho!

Desperately need some waxing now let alone later but go on hols on 20th so am trying to hold on! It's so hard being a woman even without being pg!

Come on berry babies. Can't you hear that your mummies aren't doing makeovers so you might as well come out now?!

Cavort · 27/06/2013 13:28

I take all my smugness back about not being pestered. Now I am officially overdue I seem to have the world and their dog asking if I'm having any signs. Angry

I have just been reading that you can laugh yourself into labour so need to find something funny to watch. I might wax DH's chest tonight ready for skin to skin, that might just do it. Grin

BraveLilBear · 27/06/2013 13:39

Why would you wax for skin-to-skin?! (Or are you just taking revenge for all the pregnancy angst you've been through) - surely the hormones would still work with hair there, may even be better with hair there so they get trapped and 'linger'!

Am very keen for DP to have skin-to-skin but there's no way I'd suggest he waxed I love his chest the way it is!

The 40-year-old virgin once had me in tears on a flight from Oz, and can thoroughly recommend 'tucker and dale vs evil' if you don't mind a bit of gore. Honestly the most surprisingly hilarious film me and DP have ever watched!

Or could just go for tickling Grin

HazleNutt · 27/06/2013 14:02

Janey should be back by now, do you think they just booked her in for a CS immediately?

Cavort · 27/06/2013 14:05

DH hasn't got a particularly hairy chest, but what he has got feels quite wiry when I put my head on it so I don't want it giving baby a prickly rash, and yes there is an element of my wanting him to suffer a bit after my 40 weeks of unpleasantness I am a cow. I have waxed him before and it's definitely good for a laugh so I will tell him he's helping the baby along. Grin

Any news Janey?

Cavort · 27/06/2013 14:06

Yeah that's a thought, maybe she's in hospital cuddling her new baby. Envy Envy Envy
