New thread as we appear to be talking a fair bit!

Lets hope we've all given birth by the end of this one :-)

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hope all ok ami - dont blame you for checking it out.

Georgie hope your dd is soon better - have you got any of the rehydration sachets - I know difficult if she can't keep most down but maybe even a little might help boost her.

Ladies in waiting still keeping my fingers crossed for some signs today for you.

Mrsbri hope it was a good night and that you aren't too sore today

0pumpkin · 24/06/2013 10:26

Ah there are more pregnant ladies than I thought still on here and waiting.
Was beginning to think I was going to have to join a July thread...

forgetmenots · 24/06/2013 11:14

Willing all you ladies on...!

Going to kick off post-natal chat in earnest while we wait for new additions... Can any of the new mums tell me how on earth they are managing to get out and about? Keep being told by well meaning people I should get out more (probably true!) but between a 3rd degree epis scar that isn't fully healing :( and a two week old who has only been home for a week, I'm knackered! The combi feeding hasn't really helped, but how on earth are other people doing this?

Hawkmoth · 24/06/2013 11:16

Just back from doctors with heavy duty antibiotics. A chest infection is just what I wanted to start the week.

Everything hurts and I'm thoroughly miserable.

SunnyL · 24/06/2013 11:29

Forget I was housebound for about 3 days due to the heat and the amount of feeding she was doing. Thankfully I don't have a c-section scar to deal with - full kudos to you ladies for dealing with that too. Getting better at getting out and about but my current problem is I keep leaking through all my tops! I bought reusable breast pads and I don't think they absorb as much as the disposable pads. So much for me following my environmental roots!

forgetmenots · 24/06/2013 11:35

I found that with the reusable pads too Sunny -all my green cred has gone

How do you do it though, do you time taking LO out when she has just been fed, or just go? Think I'm overly anxious about DS having a full on cry and me not being able to spite him!

Sunbeam18 · 24/06/2013 11:41

Booked in for hospital induction at 9am tomorrow!

forgetmenots · 24/06/2013 11:47

Good luck sunbeam - pessaries? Sweep? I was induced and I found the pessaries worked instantly and then stopped - took another go and finally the drip to get everything going but it was a decent preparation for labour.

My advice if you're not against pain relief is to at least state you want an epidural alongside any drip. Even if you decide you don't need it, they will be prepared and for some (like me) its a very quick jump start so it's handy not to wait too long for any help. Gas and air was pretty nifty though :)

curiousgeorgie · 24/06/2013 11:47

Forgetmenots - I used to feed her and then just go out, making sure I had 2 bottles of milk ready to go in the bag, and a spare change of clothes. The first few times were nerve racking but it was always fine. She loved being in the pram and would just sleep or watch the sky Smile

curiousgeorgie · 24/06/2013 11:47

That's great sunbeam! I'm going in at 7... Hope I don't wait all day! Grin

Hawkmoth · 24/06/2013 11:49

Oh Sunbeam, how exciting!

forgetmenots · 24/06/2013 11:53

Just realised my autocorrect said I wanted to spite DS above Shock

... I did mean soothe!

Thanks georgie :)

forgetmenots · 24/06/2013 11:54

And hawkmoth :( hope you have got decent meds to fight off the infection

massagegirl · 24/06/2013 12:20

Forget if like to know that too. am also combi feeding, some days she'll sleep after formula, other days like today, formula slept for 5 mins and now back on boob! Argh.

Hawkmoth · 24/06/2013 12:22

Thanks forgetmenots, huge orange and blue pills! 500mg x 3 for a week of cephalexin... I'm sure it'll work. I didn't see, but DH said the doctor strongly raised an eyebrow listening to my chest. I just wanted to be told it was a cold and that my BP was ok. Ho hum.

massagegirl · 24/06/2013 12:22

I'd not if!

forgetmenots · 24/06/2013 12:55

Sounds nasty hawkmoth, glad they've caught it before it gets any worse - all strength required at the moment :)

So glad it's not just me massagegirl, genuinely baffled as to how everyone seems to have figured this out :)

curiousgeorgie · 24/06/2013 13:01

My poor DD is worse, really high temperature and still vomiting Sad

I don't know if I should speak to the hospital about my c section tomorrow and push it a few days? I don't want to be pregnant a minute longer than I have to but at the same time I'll be leaving her with my mum for a couple of days while she's so poorly which doesn't seem fair on either of them, and I couldn't let her come to hospital in case she passed anything to any babies... What shall I do? Confused

She's so sorry for herself and has now thrown up on her favourite Sofia doll which I have no idea if I can wash??!

I hate today!!

pinkbear82 · 24/06/2013 13:04

get well soon hawk.

forget, it can be a combination of feed, change etc and then go out - it still has an element of crossed fingers that it's not a day that she wants more milk or then does a wee dirty nappies don't bother her, a wet nappy and the crying is deafening

the first day I went out with her I ended up feeding her in the middle of town because she wouldn't settle.

I'd start on small trips out and work up from there. you'll be amazed at how quickly they soothe themselves or get rocked to sleep by the buggy. and don't worry, the 5 mins of screaming does seem to last forever but it's jot really

pinkbear82 · 24/06/2013 13:08

oh Georgie sending massive hugs.

speak to your mum and see how she feels and then the doc - I guess as long as you don't go down with anything that's the big thing.

re the doll, can you sponge it clean and then air/fabreeze it? might be worth hand washing than risking the machine.

hope things improve x

Sunbeam18 · 24/06/2013 13:13

Thanks, everyone! Not sure what form the induction will take. I couldn't have sweep last week with midwife as baby's head not engaged so she worried about cord prolapse during sweep. Will see what the score is at hospital tomorrow - glad to have some kind of plan in place! X

Sarah2506 · 24/06/2013 13:22

I am two weeks and three days post section and we have aimed to go out everyday for a little while at least. Most days this has just been laps of a local park so requires little planning- can get home within five minutes. However, as long as fed and watered she will merrily fall asleep from the rocking of the pram. When I've walked up to town and then stopped she promptly wakes and then wants feeding which I've done on a bench with minimal fuss.

All of this has been possible because a) I've recovered quite well, b) I don't have a toddler and c) she has been sleeping quite well. If I was shattered, like I am today, then this would be a lot less likely. Also with DH being back at work its all a bit more effort!

forgetmenots · 24/06/2013 14:24

Wow Sarah - you're doing well! Good

forgetmenots · 24/06/2013 14:29

Oops- was going to say good on you, DH due back at work and I'd like to get in to this kind of pattern...

Thanks for the tips pink, DS always wants more milk (!!) but happy to feed him anywhere and everywhere! More the general cries I think I'm a bit scared of.

Going to bite the bullet and take him out :)

forgetmenots · 24/06/2013 14:30

Georgie - really sorry to hear that. Good luck whatever you decide
