just added myself..... have put in in the ? column rather than the girl column though..... still not convinced Grin

MrsO27 · 14/06/2013 16:18

I got the Boliden chair smitten, just because it was a bit narrower and the foot stool was smaller. It doesnt rock, but kind of bounces a bit!

cazboldy · 14/06/2013 17:01

literally just bought my pushchair (travelsystem so carseat too) to be delivered to mum and dad's as we haven't much spare room for a massive box! hope they won't mind!

mothercare have 15% off online until tomorrow when you spend over £100 if anyone is interested, and the pushchair was already in the sale at £99, so, bargain!! Grin

HotSoupDumpling · 14/06/2013 17:21

Oooh loads of my friends have the Ikea Poang.. pity I have no space for it... I always fantasised about having a rocking chair, but no luck.

TheCatIsUpTheDuff · 14/06/2013 18:17

DH had a rocking chair for his 21st birthday! At the moment it's in my mum's garage due to lack of space, but I'm hoping to reclaim it once we get rid of the spare bed.

Mum has been rootling about in the loft and found stuff from when I was a baby; beautiful little cardigans and blankets that Grandma made for me and a few pretty little dresses that don't seem to have suffered from 30-odd years' storage, and we've had loads of clothes and random bits of baby stuff from family and friends. There's a LOT more pink than if I'd chosen it. I keep having to tell myself that I don't have to like it just because it's free!

I'm planning on finishing on 26th September with a due date of 22nd October. We're hoping to go away for that weekend, which is our first wedding anniversary. DH and I were both a week or two early, so I won't be surprised if this one turns up a week or two either side of the EDD. Work are being lovely, so if I'm enormous and not coping, I don't think they'll give me a hard time for finishing earlier.

OrangeBlossom2 · 14/06/2013 18:49

Sorry to hear work is rubbish flyer. At least you know you won't be going back there.

The man we booked to do our painting yesterday and today was in a car accident. He is ok but not able to do the work. (Not the one you suggested Clapham, the man that fixed our floorboards also does decorating and is cheap). So DH is doing the decorating himself tonight and this weekend while I write reports. We have already moved everything out of the bedrooms and want it done soon so we can finally get things ready for the baby. We also have a dinner tomorrow and a picnic on Sunday with friends so going to be a very busy weekend!

My petite maxi dresses have arrived today which I am excited about trying on. They are not maternity, I was very uninspired by the selection of maternity dresses I tried on Tuesday. Hopefully one of these will fit to wear to a wedding next weekend. Lots of people commenting this week on how big I am getting. Whoever said "sod it" to eating lots, I have also adopted that frame of mind. Not eating rubbish, but eating as much as I feel like of normal good foods.

I read that having low placenta can be linked to anaemia in the baby. Not sure why that would be the case other than the increased risk of bleeding (which thankfully I haven't had so far), but sounds like a good reason to eat lots of iron rich nutty cereal bars yum yum.

Flyer747 · 14/06/2013 19:17

Orange the selection of maternity wear is pretty lame isn't it! I'd like to open up an online shop selling nice affordable maternity wear, I've mentioned it to DP and he thinks it's a good idea....One thing from being pregnant is I've noticed what terrible choice in maternity wear there is. And that seems to be the general census on here. It'll probably come to nothing but you never know.

claphammama · 14/06/2013 20:00

oh... so sorry about you painter orange (is your DH good at decorating?) and, very selfishly, so glad it's not our guy as he is supposed to come tomorrow morning to do our bedroom! We have an old Victorian house with lots of cracked walls so could never do the repair work ourselves.

love your new chair smitten! may have to invest in one too

OrangeBlossom2 · 14/06/2013 20:25

He is ok, we decorated our hallway and a bedroom before, but it takes ages, lots of swearing and not always a perfect finish. And we won't be doing any of the filling cracks or plastering over old rawl plugs that a decorator would have done, just whacking on a lick of paint so the rooms aren't orange and purple anymore (the previous owner had interesting tastes!) I am sure it will be fine though and have resolved not to moan at any imperfections as I am not helping do it. I have just spent an hour washing down the walls and hoovering the edges with a mini vac which is a bit DH doesn't like doing. Knackered already! Come downstairs to make dinner and avoid paint fumes, just in case they are bad for the baby. Probably over cautious but just don't know.

OrangeBlossom2 · 14/06/2013 20:31

Flyer definitely I think there is a market for better maternity clothes. It is a time when you HAVE to buy new things and want everything to be nice. Especially for larger/smaller/taller/shorter people. We are wondering about me setting up my own business too if i decide not to go back to teaching for a while. Selling "free from" wedding cakes, cakes, sweets, biscuits etc online. I have looked into registering with the council, ordered a booklet on food safety regulations etc from food standards agency but got no further than that. Not sure how much resolve I will have with a new baby and have only done three wedding cakes so might need a bit more practice with the big jobs but might be a good project for me.

Shootingstarsandcomets · 14/06/2013 20:34

Wish your shop was open now flyer! I've spent the last hour searching for nice maternity stuff online and anything decent is also expensive and I just refuse to pay so much for clothes I will never wear again.
I'm in bed now feeling a bit achey and rubbish so hoping ds sleeps through and I get 11 hours sleep- this is unlikely!!
Have a good weekend all. Good luck painting orange

JethroTull · 14/06/2013 22:33

I'm with you all on the lack of good maternity clothes. I got one nice jumper from Mamma&Pappa's and a maxi dress from Top Shop. Other than that am living in Mothercare jeggings and men's shirts!

Flyer your boss sounds like a right bitch. Hopefully you can get by with your last few weeks without too much stress.

Haylebop12 · 14/06/2013 23:00

Also think maternity wear is a nightmare! I was 20 when I got pregnant with dd and everything seemed so grown up! Not too bad now and I found eBay pretty useful but I've come to the conclusion I won't particularly feel good until I'm back in my old clothes Smile

Soupqueen · 15/06/2013 08:38

I'm exceedingly Envy of all the mat leave countdowns and holidays coming up. I started counting my days left but when I reached 50 with plenty to go, I stopped in a grump!

I'm due 14 October, planning to start mat leave at 38 weeks, 1 week holiday before that at 37 weeks but no other holidays planned so I'm working full time until end September. I'm sure it'll fly in, just seems like a long time just now.

Has anyone else not really started getting organised yet? I don't really know where to start and it's all a bit daunting. I thought we still had plenty of time but my father in law is horrified that we've not started and doesn't think we have enough time left Hmm

favellio · 15/06/2013 08:41

I got some lovely maternity clothes on the New Look website. Lots of maternity leggings and long vests really cheap and also a couple of lovely dresses :-)

pinkbuttons · 15/06/2013 09:03

Just checking in to the new thread. Have had a mad last week at work so not had chance to keep up.
Sorry to hear about bullying boss flyer, very exciting to hear days till maternity leave.
I guess Im on maternity leave as of now, were moving house next week so hve left work early, I ended up being signed off at 35 weeks with DS and got very bored, but luckily will have him to keep me entertained this time Grin am thinking it will give me a better idea of whether I will want to be a SAHM after this babies born. Any money I earn will go on childcare so it isnt financially helpful at all.

We havent got anything organised at all soupqueen all of our stuff from DS is spread around the country with various freinds so were going to have to travel round to get it all. the only thing weve bought is a pink vest Smile
24 weeks today and have reached my first goal, any tips on what the next goal should be? 38 weeks seems so far away still.

favellio · 15/06/2013 09:03

We're not particularly organised yet either, soupqueen. We've got some small bits like baby grows, nappies and teddies but haven't got any of the big things like cot, buggy etc yet. We live in a tiny 1 bedroom flat, so leaving the big things til as late as possible to save on storage space.

GTbaby · 15/06/2013 09:44

Soup dont worry! Nothing a trip to mothercare won't fix. Babies don't need much.

Somewhere to sleep - Moses basket/cot. Blankets and sheets.
Something to wear - 7 baby grows and vests. Buy more once baby is born and you know what size you need.
Something to eat - very easy if bf. if not you get starter kits with steriliser and bottles included.
Car seat to get home in.

EVerything else can be bought after baby is here. I'm not saying buy everything at the last minute. I'm just saying its daunting, you think you need loads. But really you don't NEED much and everything CAN be bought in one day.

Eg I'm still finishing up decorating DS1 bedroom, 8 months after he was born. Lol

TheCatIsUpTheDuff · 15/06/2013 11:15

Can anyone recommend good and not too expensive maternity tights?

Soupqueen · 15/06/2013 11:22

I'm really struggling with tights too. The best I've found so far are John Lewis but at £9 a pop for something I'm likely to put my thumb through the first time I use them......

I got some Seraphine ones, slightly cheaper at £8 but the fit is dreadful, the crotch makes its way to my knees between hoicking trips to the loo. I wish I worked somewhere where bare legs was appropriate!

OrangeBlossom2 · 15/06/2013 11:58

I bought some tights from John Lewis but put a hole in the crotch the first time I wore them and found they fell down after the first wear, though that may have been I because I was wearing them with a small bump at 12ish weeks. Now I just wear normal tights in a bigger size. They were about £6 I think they were the seraphine brand.

Four of the 6 maxi dresses dresses I ordered are nice, guess what I will be wearing this summer! So nice to have a splash of colour, I seem to live in black or navy stripes at the moment.

Soupqueen · 15/06/2013 12:12

Where did you get them orange? I love the idea of maxi dresses for summer.

Smitten1981 · 15/06/2013 12:22

I just got a great maxi dress from Primark @asos. I ordered it in a size bigger and it's fab for a tenner.

char1eston · 15/06/2013 12:47

Hello ladies
I seem to have managed to miss the last 2 threads so will be making an effort to keep up to date from now.
25 weeks now and 3 months til I go on mat leave but I do have some time off in between and only work 3 days a week Grin
Got a migraine at the mo and am in bed feeling sorry for myself.
Hope you're all doing well

OrangeBlossom2 · 15/06/2013 13:42

I got them from wallis and debenhams soup. In a size or two bigger than pre-pregnancy to accommodate bigger boobs mainly.
