My surname is Italian and my first name is Polish flyer. My accent confuses even most travelled people. Told you - a European mongrel! My DP, however, is a perfectly British gentleman from Cheltenham and I love embarrassing him with public displays of affection and occasional bluntness in public :-) He is getting too used to it by now though so I'm always less successful.

He is just assembling the changing unit! He upset me greatly earlier tonight with his sarcasm and generally prickly attitude so is doing it to make up for it and be forgiven I believe... I'm excited but acting upset and withdrawn to keep him going :-)

how was your scouse?

claphammama · 25/06/2013 22:37

haha MoN just read your post and laughed out loud (I'm supposed to be acting upset and withdrawn...) Mine says he hopes the baby has my looks and his personality. Somehow he believes he is more easygoing... ha!

Natalieand · 25/06/2013 22:40

I've been on an eBay spending spree this evening too, sadly not for baby things but for wedding related items for my sisters big day which is just over 5 weeks away and I am designated helper outer as she is rubbish at organising anything.

Loving the baby purchases I'm slacking a bit really with regards to buying stuff I need to pick up the pace. !!

Shirehobbit · 25/06/2013 22:43

My ebaying has been restricted to Tiffany Rose dresses for weddings, so far.
Do you think I've got my priorities a bit skewed?! Blush

MotherOfNations · 25/06/2013 22:47

Just thought I should point out that it's not that I'm a great looker. It's just that Dp bears more than a passing resemblance to Desperate Dan.

Flyer747 · 25/06/2013 22:47

It was lovely thanks, even my dog had a bowl she wolfed it down so quickly she got seconds. Pampered pooch.

At least your DP can assemble a changing table, my DP is totally useless at DIY or home improvements, he attempted mowing the lawn last week, broke the mower and it's like a jungle out there now, we have a gardener coming on Friday I'm sick of waiting. I've come to learn his love is his mac book air not a tool box.

Keep up the slightly upset/sulky act I always find when I go quiet and don't argue back I get my own way :-) manipulation at its best.

MoN that's funny about your DP bless him.

Flyer747 · 25/06/2013 22:49

OMG clapham my DP says the same about being easy going! They must be twins. My DP needs too look up the definition of easy going, it's certainly not him!

Flyer747 · 25/06/2013 22:53

Natalie what is your sister having for her wedding favours? I love hearing what people do for them.

Natalieand · 25/06/2013 23:00

She didn't want wedding favours but I forced into doing it cheaply little navy blue organza bags with white heart shaped mints (her theme is red/white/blue) and hearts lol and for the kiddies I made her buy them little activity packs with colouring pencils and pictures etc themed to her wedding xx

Flyer747 · 25/06/2013 23:10

That's a lovely idea, especially for the kids. Something to keep them entertained. Are you a bridesmaid?

claphammama · 25/06/2013 23:16

I'm afraid MoN ruined my sulky act with the image of Desperate Dan! I'm giggling to myself now

And please don't overestimate my DP... we had to call a plumber twice last winter after he tried to "balance" our heating...

MotherOfNations · 26/06/2013 00:10

Sorry Clapham. It's a good job our partners aren't on here. We're far from complimentary.

Natalieand · 26/06/2013 07:09

Yes flyer I am bridesmaid. I damn well hope my dress fits when it arrives at the shop lol

Natalieand · 26/06/2013 08:12

Dh is home for the school run this morning - I guess this is what it is gunna be like getting two kids ready in the morning!! Lol

Umlauf · 26/06/2013 09:55

natalie you're such a good bridesmaid! I loved wedding planning and am a weeny bit jealous of all your projects and upcoming excitement!!

Just got back from my weigh in midwife appointment, another 2 kgs since last time so that is a grand total of 10 kgs since 13 weeks. I don't know what I was at the start really! I'm so annoyed because I have actually tried hard not to put so much on this month, and the baby is still small, so it looks like I'm on track for a 3-4 stone weight gain in total by the birth and I'm dreading trying to lose that in time for christmas! I just want to get back in my normal clothes!!!!

I have the sugary drink test thing at 8am tomorrow, wee and blood aswell, and I'm booked into my antenatal classes (not nct, free ones).

We did get the maxicosi pebble from FIL new in the end, but I've been reading a lot about this isofix. Its very expensive, do we really need one?

I can't remember whose son is a model but congratulations!!!! Do you know what he will be modelling yet? Are you going to get the baby dong baby modelling?!

Flyer747 · 26/06/2013 10:15

Umlauf I'm the same with the weight gain and just wanting to be back in my normal clothes asap. I haven't weighed myself for a few weeks now but I'm thinking my weight gain is going to be the same 3-4 stone....I see all these women with new babies back into their clothes really quickly and I just have a feeling that won't be me, however I will try my hardest to drop a stone by Xmas. When I go back to work next year we will have a new uniform (I'm very very excited about this as its being designed by Vivienne Westwood, sad hey) and I fully intend to be back to pre pregnancy weight by this time. Instead of eating crap when I want chocolate I've been making smoothies with yoghurt to get my sweet fix, it's not quite the same though.

With the isofix base I'm only opting for it so if my parents or DP's parents want to use it they can when it was demonstrated to us in mothercare it seemed much more straight forward to fix, plus I'm rubbish with stuff like that too. Maybe get opinions off mums on here on what they think.

Natalie I know what you mean about dresses not fitting, I've just bought one for a wedding in 4 weeks time and I'm thinking it probably won't fit come then. I'm sure you'll be fine though.

claphammama · 26/06/2013 10:34

Hi girls. I put on 3 stones when pregnant with DS and think I'm on a good track to do the same this time too. I don't eat any crap, no sweets at all and I don't even eat much more than normally to be honest (although I had a stage a month ago or so). So I just think this is how I am pregnant... and nothing I can do about it... With DS I carried a lot of water and had a massive placenta which can also be very heavy. I lost all this weight and got back to my pre-pregnancy size, including my stomach. I breastfed for 7 months and DS eat a lot... It took me longer than 2 months though so I wouldn't aim for Christmas! I lost most in the first 3 months (enough to fit in my normal clothes) but I reckon it took me about 12 months for all the weight to fall off. I wasn't trying hard though. Hope this is helpful and encouraging? I think everyone is different but this is how it went with me. Hope it will be the same this time but everyone is telling me it's much harder after the second one!!

claphammama · 26/06/2013 10:36

umlauf I don't think you need isofix base. Our baby seat doesn't have one and it's perfectly OK. It takes some time to get used to it but once you put it in the car a few times, you get used to it and I could do it in my sleep!

Flyer747 · 26/06/2013 10:57

Clapham this is what I'm telling myself, I have a big baby lots of water and a huge placenta. I'm ignoring the fact that my legs are rubbing together at the top and I had to buy size 14 knickers the other day to accommodate my ever expanding arse....it's all baby and placenta :-)

favellio · 26/06/2013 11:15

25 weeks today and heard heartbeat for the first time this morning at checkup Grin

claphammama · 26/06/2013 11:15

haha these placentas spread everywhere! And no, you don't want to hope for a big baby... not if you are planning a natural birth. DS did enough damage at his mere 6.8lb... I'm hoping for another small baby. I wonder if they will be able to give me an indication of his size at my 32 weeks scan. Anyone knows? never had a scan so late so no idea

roxvox · 26/06/2013 11:15

umlauf we bought the isofix base for our car seat off of eBay and saved over £100 on the RRP for it. They are meant to be easier to use and also safer than a seatbelt-fitted car seat. I know you shouldn't buy the car seat itself second hand (without knowing it's history), but I've not heard anything about the isofix base.

Natalieand · 26/06/2013 11:38

I have my first bridesmaid dress fitting on July 7th almost a month before the wedding so I hope they are accommodating! I was only 10 weeks when we ordered it. Xx

Can't remember who said about isofix but it isn't essential at all I didn't have it with dd the only reason I'm having it this time is purely for my own selfish convenience as I can just pop the seat in the car and bam done especially as il line in and out the car 4x a day just dropping and collecting dd from pre school that's without any extra trips I make

Just been and brought a few cute baby clothes in tesco sale :-) plus my first pack of nappies size 1 it says 4-11lb so I figured that should do him was £2 for 25

Haylebop12 · 26/06/2013 11:50

Please don't stress about weight gain...! You will lose around a stone just by delivering! I put on 2 stone with dd and my stomach contracted incredibly well. I didn't worry about losing the extra stone until she was around 12 months and by this time I found it relatively easy. this one I've started two stone heavier but i'm definitely not doing anything till after Xmas!

I have found new stretch marks at the top of my
Thighs but its just part and parcels of growing your baby. I don't sit around in pants with my legs akimbo so
I ain't stressin'!!!

Quiet day in work today Grin and almost got everything for baby now. I bought a few bits in next size up to 1 month as I think baby will be around 8lb (dd was 7.6 bit born at 37+5) but they look huge so going to get a few newborn but not too many as dd grew incredibly quickly.

Hope everyone is enjoying the dry weather. 3 loads of washing I have outside today. That makes me very happy but makes me want to wash baby's stuff too which I know is way to early really.

roofio87 · 26/06/2013 12:04

hayley I thought the same about washing baby's things. would be good to do it while there is good weather and extra drying space, but never.mind!!
been to see my cancer consultant this morning for first time in a year. they weigh you before you go in and the first thing he said was "you've maintained your weight very well since last time" I replied "id hope so, I'm 6 months.pregnant!!" he had to laugh and apologise for not noticing!! he was really sweet and dead made up for me, he feels good that the decision to plough me full of chemotherapy was the right one as its obviously had no long term effects!!Smile
