Legally - that's fantastic that the stitch has done its job, and that they are growing well :)

MoN I'm glad that you are being seen at the right places and by the right people x

Welcome Emmo!

So yes I have another scan on Thursday (at 24+5) which is a Doppler scan, and then I meet with my consultant straight after to discuss it. All day at the hospital maybe!

MotherOfNations · 25/06/2013 12:32

They are Legally. Great news on your scans Legally.

Welcome to Emmo sorry I was too caught up in my own worries to say hello my yesterday. I'm sure you'll get your cs if you just keep ben insistent and leave them in no doubt as to how worried you are.

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 25/06/2013 12:49

Hello Ladies, having a bit of a busy day but just sat down for lunch and to catch up on the thread.

Glad all is well with your twinnies legally and cervix is looking good.

MoN so pleased your friend could attend your daughters's graduation - I hope they manage to get some lovely pics and you get to 'see' it after all.

Pseudo - hope your pelvis is feeling better today.

thethreeblondies - your DD sounds very sweet, best of luck for Saturday. my DD (6) tries to train our spaniel but it tends to descend into chaos as she doesn't make the commands clear enough and the poor dog doesn't know - for example - whether she's been asked to lie down or roll over.

In the end our doggy just goes through her entire repertoire of 'tricks' in the hope she'll eventually get her treat.

Umlauf - Whoops! I hope you are back into the good books soon.

Hope everyone has a good day x

favellio · 25/06/2013 13:19

Just had a quick catch up in this....the world's fastest moving thread lol
Congratulations for all the happy news and commiserations on the sad.
I've just got back from physio and now have crutches to use on days when my pelvis is too painful. Teamed with my support belt I'm gonna look like a right sexy mamma lol oh well, only a few months left to go!!
Hope everyone's having a good day??Grin

PseudoBadger · 25/06/2013 13:39

Just had some interesting news, DS has been accepted on a model agency's books! We went for an assessment and he was so shy so I'm amazed :o
it'll be fun going to shoots heavily pregnant or with a newborn

Flyer747 · 25/06/2013 13:47

Claphammama scouse is a local dish, I guess it was cheap to cook years ago as its meat (beef or lamb) carrots potatoes and swede cooked in a thin gravy. My mum cooks the Staffordshire version which is called Lobby and it's one of my favourite dishes, you can't beat your mums homemade cooking. I'm sure you'll hear your boys say that in years to come about your cooking.

Umlauf you made me laugh with your comment on cheap in laws. I'm lucky mine are lovely but my ex's mum was a piece of work, she used to buy meat at the door from druggies ( I presume they'd pinched it out of the supermarket) then try and give us some, the amount of stolen goods in her house were unbelievable. I'm all for a bargain (as you'll all be aware on here by now) but I'm in agreement on the car seat. I think we are going for a maxi cosi with that isofix base thing.

Well I have a banging headache, but it's not dampening my spirits after today I have 3 weeks without my boss being in, whoopee doo I'm so excited :-)

Very good news legally your twins are coming on really well.

Flyer747 · 25/06/2013 13:52

Just wanted to clarify I don't condone stolen goods, I don't want to offend anyone on here! I'm a law abiding citizen :-)

TheCatIsUpTheDuff · 25/06/2013 14:32

Thanks, GTbaby - I've PM'd you.

Shootingstarsandcomets · 25/06/2013 15:41

Great news on the twins legally
I baked some scones this morning and have just scoffed one with clotted cream and jam whilst say in the sunny garden it was the best 5 minutes I've had all day!!

claphammama · 25/06/2013 16:40

just got back from a long walk and absolutely knackered... this bump is getting heavy... shooting I'm sad to report that they've closed down the Susie Watson shop on Northcote Road... I wonder what will open to replace it

legally good news the twins and your cervix are doing so well!

pseudo wow! you must be so proud. Get the little one to start earning for his university fees Grin

favellio this sounds so painful... do you still work and, if yes, will you get signed off? Or can you work from home? As you say, only a few months left now!

funkky so you are another member of the low anterior placenta club... I think it's you, me and orange. Fingers crossed for all of us. I also feel movements down there so hoping it's gone up...

umlauf such a classic :-) it will all blow over. These things always do. I've done so many similar things, including some I'm not proud of at all

and flyer aka law abiding citizen - haha, you can definitely beat my mum's homemade cooking! She is rubbish and wouldn't even mind me saying so. A great baker though. Scouse sounds like perfect comfort food - is it what you are having tonight? Hope your headache is gone now.

I have a massive pile of ironing waiting for me but procrastinating now... feeling way too hot and bothered after my long walk. The roman blinds came this morning, all fitted and looking lovely - so happy! And planning to bully DP into assembling the changing unit tonight. I'm sure he will be delighted after a long day in the office... however, my nesting instinct is much stronger than my empathy right now... hehe

MotherOfNations · 25/06/2013 16:43

She sent me some lovely pics Bridget and Linah didn't seem upset that I wasn't there.

That's what I've been eating for the past 2 days shooting. I've still got half a tub of clotted cream left that I can't let go to waste so I guess I'll need to eat even more.

PseudoBadger · 25/06/2013 17:00

Mmm I need to make scones tonight!

roxvox · 25/06/2013 17:16

Please stop talking about scones! I am trying not to drool here!

OrangeBlossom2 · 25/06/2013 18:27

Yes it is me who has the low placenta Clapham, but it is at the back, I think that is called posterior. I am feeling lots of moving all the time these days and all over my tummy. I had forgotton that high BMI means you might not feel as much movement, hopefully low BMI (before pregnancy at least!) is the reason for such a mad baby rather than mine being super active when it comes out.

I called the midwife today to get a physio referral. I had to stand up for most of the afternoon practicing for sports day and jolted my back stepping into a little hole on the field. my back/hip are really sore and I am limping. They faxed a request through to the consultant at my hospital and I should hear back in a week. Seems to easy so far...

MoN it sounds like they have got things sorted, I hope it is reassuring that they are acting quickly and getting things prepared for you.

Great news legally, and that they are growing nicely. Do they deliver twins once they get to a certain size? Or just at a particular number of weeks?

emmoB13 · 25/06/2013 18:29

Thanks so much for the replies. Especially Flyer and those who also shared their herpes experiences. It is embarrassing and scary to talk about and i agree with the whole 'scared to tell new partner' but luckily mine has been super supportive and knew long before this pregnancy or that could have been an awkward conversation. Herpes isn't something that is talked about a lot but a surprising number of people suffer from it.

I luckily also have a very supportive mum who immediately got on the phone to her midwife friend who works at a different hospital to the one i'm being treated at. She explained in detail that i would be having blood work and high vaginal smears (argh!) from 36 weeks to check for active attacks. This was never explained to me as i thought they were just going to check for blisters when i know the virus can be active without these, hence my panic! So, ill get checked week 36 & 37, then if at 38 im active they will book a CS for 39. If not they will let me go to labor where again ill be tested. If active, obviously a section, if not i can deliver naturally which is what i have always wanted to do but my lack of information has always panicked me too much!! She also advised i moved hospitals to the one she works at, its smaller and a little more personal and she said she wasn't surprised by the way i'd been treated at the other hospital so the midwife will be getting a call in the morning :) I wish the consultant yesterday has just explained all this too me as i would have left feeling a lot happier and informed.

Thanks for everyone's advice though, especially from those mums to be who have their own little ones to be worrying about.

OrangeBlossom2 · 25/06/2013 18:31

Glad you got some reassurance Emmo. That sounds really positive.

HotSoupDumpling · 25/06/2013 18:36

SCONES!! With clotted cream! oh my oh my oh my. I think I will be paying a visit to the supermarket tomorrow...

This is such a fast thread that I don't have the memory to remember everything I want to say to everyone! (Do people write down names and notes as they read - I'm tempted sometimes!)

Hello Emmo and I hope very much that you had the support you want here. I've discussed things I wouldn't discuss with anyone in RL but DP. Everyone is supportive and non-judgmental. Glad that you had a lovely midwife to explain everything to you properly.

Scouse sounds utterly delish. That's because I'm obsessed with gravy at the moment. Gravy all over roast potatoes.

MotherOfNations · 25/06/2013 18:36

Glad you're feeling happier and reassured emmo and I hope you're able to have a natural birth. I've always wanted one and never been allowed to but I have it on good authority that I'm not missing much.

PseudoBadger · 25/06/2013 18:41

I think most of us have anterior placentas! But mine isn't low afaik.

Flyer747 · 25/06/2013 18:55

Glad you are feeling a little more relaxed emmo, and we are a very non judgemental bunch on this thread.

I called my parents earlier on to thank them for collecting my graco soother centre they have collected earlier on today, and told my dad to bake some scones for my visit tomorrow, my parents owned a bakery whilst I was growing up and I've yet to find anyone who makes nicer scones, cakes or bread than my dad, I'm biased though.

Clapham really your mum cannot cook?! She is italian? I am shocked I thought all italian ladies were mega cooks. Well if so that just proved me wrong.

Pseudo congrats to your little boy, a celeb in the making.

Shootingstarsandcomets · 25/06/2013 19:02

emmo that is good news, if only the consultant had taken the time to explain that in the first place. Hopefully you'll get the delivery you want.
mon don't you dare wast any of that cream, far far too good to go to waste. I have a whole batch of scones to use mine up with!
clapham I can't believe susie Watson closed down! I would have thought that northcote would be the perfect spot for one of her shops. Although expect the rates are astronomical so perhaps that's it, what a shame. Let me know what goes in its place, especially if its something lovely and exciting!

claphammama · 25/06/2013 20:29

glad you are feeling better emmo. sometimes they really don't take time to explain anything...

shooting will keep you updated! hope it's something nice.

flyer you are not wrong! My mum is not Italian but Polish and nope, definitely not a great cook. The best cheesecake maker though. I'm a bit of a European mongrel through background, places I lived in etc... Or, as DP likes to put it, "I've been around" :-) well settled here now though for the last 16 years!

MotherOfNations · 25/06/2013 22:02

Just ordered a cot bed from an eBay shop....well almost. Dp can't remember his PayPal password to actually pay for it.

Flyer747 · 25/06/2013 22:14

I presumed your name was italian clapham, hence thinking your mum was italian and the cooking. I do like a nice cheesecake too.

MoN I think I have an eBay addiction, things keep arriving everyday off there. I become one of these people who has to have the item, life wouldn't be the same without it and then get into a bidding war, it's dangerous. Luckily I know the password to DP's PayPal account, so he keeps getting notifications of payments paid to various people...I think he is regretting sharing it with me. I've been warned not to buy anymore tat.

MotherOfNations · 25/06/2013 22:24

That's it ordered. Turned out it was his eBay address he was putting in wrong.
He keeps saying he hopes the baby looks like me and I can't even say my looks and his brains cos he's not got much in the way of brains.

Tomorrow is the last day of school before the summer holidays begin.here. I am so exhausted today that I really can't be bothered ironing the kids clothes so I'm very tempted to let them stay home.
