flyer scouse always looks horrid, its what it tastes like that counts!!

LostMySocks · 24/06/2013 22:20

I have an anterior placenta and also have days when I feel nothing. I mentioned to the midwife today and she said was normal at this stage. Still I do get a bit twitchy. So much so that I'm relieved when it seems to roll down and sit on my bladder which is quite uncomfortable. I'm hoping that lack o movement equals lazy baby that will sleep a lot. Mind you it was lazy at the 20 week scan and hid down behind my pelvis and didn't do any exciting rolls and was toO far down for a clear picture

PseudoBadger · 24/06/2013 22:33

Oh gosh Orange I've got home tonight and my rear pelvis is agony :(
It may be the standing for 2 hours instructing dog agility, a very busy day with DS or just time for the old PGP to flare up again... If it's still this bad in the morning I'm going to the doc to get a referral.

thethreeblondies · 24/06/2013 23:11

Oooh Pseudo you teach dog agility?? my DD (8) has a mini course set up in the garden "training" our dalmatian! She is entering a dog show on Saturday, she wants to enter the best trick class but not sure what she is going to attempt yet! She is dog and animal mad, wants to run kennels when she is older, has ruled out being a vet as she couldn't put animals to sleep! xx

moonblues · 24/06/2013 23:36

Phew, just caught up. It's hard to keep track of this thread sometimes...
MoN hope you're feeling ok. You've had so much to deal with. Is you're DP going to be able to go with you to your next appt?
Congratulations Sanji on your work stuff.
Emmo sorry you're having such a tough time. Do you know that it's fine to take aciclovir when you're pregnant and some women take a prolonged course of it to try to prevent outbreaks in the the 3rd trimester? I would ask your midwife to make an appt for you with your consultant so you can speak about it. If you have an outbreak when you GP into labour they would usually advise you to have a section anyway.
Was a bit worried about outing myself as a HCP, (it's quite nice being anonymous and just being one of the pregnant ladies) but very impressed by Flyer Flowers
Clapham hope you're feeling less stressed after some time off work.

claphammama · 24/06/2013 23:53

flyer has the biggest heart! Thanks
I love this forum and how there are no tabu topics here.

I'm better, thanks so much for asking moon! have a few more days at home so it should give me some breathing space to bounce back.

also, belated happy birthday "soup"! (catching up on the rest of the thread) hope you did something nice?

And hope your move was ok pink? You are in Birmingham now right? do you know people there or have to build a new network from scratch?

MotherOfNations · 25/06/2013 00:00

No. On my own again moonblues. He's been told he's not to take any time off until the baby is actually here. They think they're being generous ad he's not been in the job long enough to qualify for paternity leave.

Flyer747 · 25/06/2013 00:05

Awww thanks ladies, I'm literally welling up after reading your lovely comments and watching long lost family on itv it's well and truly tipped me over the edge, I should have watched "the man with 10 stone testicles" on channel 4 instead...

Glad you are enjoying your time off claphammama. :-)

Flyer747 · 25/06/2013 00:07

MoN that's pretty crappy.... I know it sounds silly but you have lots of virtual hand holding here on Mumsnet. Good Luck xx

claphammama · 25/06/2013 00:10

I'm watching Child Genius on Channel 4 - really hope none of my children will be a genius if it comes with this attitude :-) so late! will be suffering for it tomorrow morning. off to bed now!

GTbaby · 25/06/2013 00:14

Movement wise. I'm feeling more movement. But not regularly. But was same with ds1 so not to concerned.
Also I have a high bmi Blush (aka I'm fat) and I think this makes a difference to how much you can feel...
My ds1 was very active at night. Drove me loopy. I'm sure he even woke me on a few occasions. He now sleeps about 10hours undisturbed every night Grin

Emmo I think when you go back in 6weeks you need to re discuss and go in with your facts and state your side clearly. The % risk is this, the effects are xyz and State clearly that you are not willing to take that risk. Write it all down if that helps also get GUM person on board. If the dr still disagrees ask to be seen by someone else for a 2nd opinion.
Medically I have no advise however seems like you have done your research. Can you get Your partner /birthing partner on board to back you up in meeting? I would personally need this as I'm crap at sticking up for myself in these situations.

Ppl have elective c sections for many different reasons, don't see why this wouldn't be a valid reason.

Right off to bed. Night night

Roofio my scouse tastes superb, just turned the slow cooker off and I'm well impressed with my efforts. You are right about look v taste.

Bed time too up at 730am, that's v early for me.

cuillereasoupe · 25/06/2013 06:39

Emmo I have no experience of it myself but I've heard that the Herpes Society is very good, maybe worth giving them a ring for support?

Natalieand · 25/06/2013 07:23

I'm anterior high placenta too an very overweight size 22-24 pre pregnancy and feeling movements on a daily basis I'm 24+1 and I think I'm at a stage where baby can still willing flip upside down and sideways at a moments notice cos the movements really are everywhere and dh has felt him move twice but I've seen my belly move on several occasions. Dh can only feel him if he seems to be head down feet up as most of my weight is at the bottom of my stomach so too cushioned for him to feel.

How r u feeling now GT? Hope your cold is getting better? I don't feel any worse this morning so hopefully that's means my symptoms will start reducing now!

Good luck at today's scan MoN
Does anyone else have later scans booked in yet? I'm having one at 28+1 and 34+2 to check on baby's growth.

I have no experience of herpes in that sense all though I do get cold sores on my face so I hope u get your consultant to back your decision if a c-section is what u truly want x

PseudoBadger · 25/06/2013 08:15

I've got a Doppler scan this Thursday Nat

Shootingstarsandcomets · 25/06/2013 08:20

Good luck today mon
Hi emmo I think another poster is correct you will already have passed on immunity to your baby so unless you are having an outbreak at the time of delivery then it really is nothing to worry about. Also, although your consultant sounds very uncaring she has had years of medical training and will not want to jeopardise your babys health so if she doesn't think you need a c section then you probably don't. I think as mums we tend to panic but those dr's tend to know best. I think under nice guidelines you can request a cs but you may need to change hospitals until you find one that will agree to do it without medical nescessity.
Also on active baby front ds was nocturnal in utero and when he came out, took weeks to turn his day and night round to normal. Exhausting.

claphammama · 25/06/2013 08:31

23 weeks today! I have another scan at 32 weeks Natalie because of my low anterior placenta. I wish I didn't and my placenta was high though... trying to move it up with the power of my mind :-)

DP sorted out DS this morning (bless him for this) so woke up only now, excited about my roman blinds arriving later this morning. Saddo I know! I'm blaming the nesting instinct. I should be resting this week but feel there is so much to do that it's driving me crazy.

emmo sorry can't give any solid advice as have no experience here but tend to agree with shooting. In the UK they are so scared of things going wrong and potential lawsuits that they are usually super cautious and often advise c section "just in case". I would definitely get a second opinion though.

flyer you made me hungry now. what goes in scouse? I'm not good at all with English dishes - it's DP's specialist area!

claphammama · 25/06/2013 08:33

correction "scouse"! local words are were my English suffers :-)

claphammama · 25/06/2013 08:37

meant "where"... gosh, do I need coffee?? going to get one now and will stop posting until I'm awake

Umlauf · 25/06/2013 10:10

Just popping on to wish MON luck in your scan today and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for more positive news.

And just wanted to say welcome to Emmo and hello! I'm not sure what to do about the CS but you have had lots of fantastic advice from everyone, especially lovely flyer and I am sure you will feel very welcome here. This forum is such a lovely place and nothing is tmi which is great!

Umlauf · 25/06/2013 10:22

Oh and I'm in the bad books with DHs family :-(

Firstly I can't go to the funeral. There is just no way we can afford it. DH doesn't want me to go for this reason.

Secondly, DHs parents have kindly offered to buy us a car seat, which is nice as they are really cheap careful people and never spend any money on things (but they are generous in other ways, holidays, helping us with house deposit etc). So DH on Skype told his dad the one we wanted and his dad said "fantastic, ill get one on eBay second hand." I had a panic and sort of inhaled sharply, DH quickly explained about the safety aspect, his dad replied "that's bollocks, I'd have risked it for you when you were a baby but ill get the one you want" and I stage whispered sarcastically, "how lovely!" And he heard :-( Blush damn Skype and its sensitive microphones!!!

funkky · 25/06/2013 10:56

Nat I have a scan at 34 weeks cos of low lying anterior placenta. But being feeling baby movements quite low down, so I really really hope its moved higher.

Not sure who asked but mothercare buggy and carseat warranty (not sure about other things) start from when the baby is born not when you buy the product so went on with the Britax buggy and carseat which arrived over the weekend.

I am 27 weeks tomorrow!!!! we are getting there ladies. Grin

GTbaby · 25/06/2013 10:57

The cat- pm me your FB details and ill add you.

Nat- I'm very snotty Confused been like this a few days now. Doesn't seem to be shifting. Did wonder yesterday if it is hay fever ? Not sure as never had it.

Just had my scan though though nothing new to report.
I'm going to yorkhill sick kids on Thursday to meet with the cardiology midwife and cardiologist and to have a wee tour of the hospital.
The consultant at the Princess Royal is going to phone me on Friday to decide on a care plan though it looks like my care may be transferred to the Southern General ad they have a helipad incase of any emergencies after the birth.
My lovely friend came to the rescue re dd's graduation ceremony. She's going to go and take some pics for me so not feeling so bad now.

legallyblond · 25/06/2013 11:36

Sounds like they are taking good care of you MoN and you will be given time to know about what to expect in terms of procedures etc. I think that will make it (marginally) less scary. Thinking of you x x

Had another growth and cervix scan on the twins. They are well and around the 50th centile, so good for twins (twin 1 is 2lb2 and twin 2 is 1lb15!) and the stitch worked as my cervix has remained long and closed!!! Yay!
