Starting yet another thread as us chatterboxes have filled up 2 already!

Jucy, I'm so sorry to hear your news. Big hugs, wish there was something more I could say. Flowers

Frouby, if you're feeling crap just fuck the housework off, I do! It'll keep.

I'm scared and excited in equal measures about the scan on Friday. Looking forward to seeing bean and being able to get on with things. But obviously scared of getting bad news like Jucy... 2 days, 1 hour and 50 minutes to go!

My friend has offered to be a birthing partner too. I may well take her up on it, I suspect she'll be more help than OH. And as I'm planning on having a home water birth and OH has already invited his bloody mum (!) think it'll be good to have a friend there. I'm not private at all, have zero issues with people seeing me naked (as my neighbours will tell you) and she's seen me throw up enough times from our party days (though never shit myself to be fair) that I'm not too fussed about that.

Gannet I know greenish normally signals something isn't right but I've had the same pretty much for the last few months so it might not be an infection! I think the colour/consistency can change and its a bit alarming!

mumoftwoboysS · 10/07/2013 11:45

And talking about retail therapy- just got some FAB sundresses from Matalan- one was £5! Perfect for this hot weather and high waist line to allow bump to stick out freely! Only thing is neckline won't look so good if I wear them next year without the fab cleavage I've developed!

mumoftwoboysS · 10/07/2013 11:51

Hello stacey! I'm due a day later than you!

rose I was starting to worry too about lack of movement- I'm 16+3 but it does vary a lot from person to person. I complained to my friend yesterday that I'd hardly felt anything as she said she didn't feel anything till 19wks. So, maybe your placenta is anterior so it's cushioning any feelings, or maybe you just can't tell what's a poke and what's a stomach rumble but hopefully you won't have to wait too much longer to feel something- try not to worry. I felt four little prods last night in bed which was lovely but it's been a long wait!

mumoftwoboysS · 10/07/2013 11:53

Sorry -gone posting mad! But forgot to sAy update on my 16 week appointment- midwife can't fit me in this week or next week- how bloody crap. Might as well call it the 18 week check up. Now I have to phone the local hospital and see if some random person there will see me- grr.

froubylou · 10/07/2013 12:08

Hello Stacey. I'm due 20/12 so very close to you.

Well I think it has arrived. Finally. That 2nd trimester energy surge they talk about? So far this morning I have

  1. done 3 loads of washing, 2 of which are on the line
  2. stripped off 2 beds.
  3. taken down and currently washing living room curtains
  4. cleaned a huge bay window in kitchen and washed down all woodwork, all the cupboard doors (inside and out), cleaned the outside of the fridge, wiped down all the skirts and cleaned inside and out of a UPVC door
  5. pulled out tumble dryer and cleaned under there and all the woodwork (lots of it in my kitchen) in the huge bay window.
  6. found a lost pair of school shoes, £1.20 under the tunble dryer and maggie dogs lost rubber chicken
  7. took the dog for a long walk whilst its cool

Usually by this time of day I have played on PC, eaten a sandwhich and perhaps done a bit of work.

It helps that we are having a BBQ for about 30 adults and kids on saturday afternoon and my house is minging due to the lack of housework for the first 12 weeks of being PG.

Roselau · 10/07/2013 12:58

thanks mum. it's crazy how we worry about every little thing....
i hope you get your appointment sorted.

soooooooo hubby got the visa and holy shit we're moving to California for a year and giving birth to an american baby!!! i'm excited but mostly freaking out. So scared of the health care system over there.
I will have to leave work at 30 weeks and start my mat leave then so that I can still move and fly without issues. Work is going to be so pissed off, but I looked it up and by law I can leave 11 weeks before due date so I guess there's nothing they can do about it - does anyone know? oh I'm so not looking forward to delivering those news to them. Also to my parents. I don't think they'll talk to me ever again.

the good thing is that I wont have to deal with the shit British winter.

StaceyP85 · 10/07/2013 13:32

Thanks all

Roselau - I'm seeing the Midwife today as well... really hoping I get to hear the heartbeat. I swear I have been staring at my stomach every opportunity in hope I see something move.. But nadda! No flutters, bubbling nothing.. Just the weird stretchy twingey type pains in my lower abdomen from the growth :)
FX for you, that you get to hear your baby today

froubylou - Very impressed with the energy surge, feel free to come around and sort my house... I'm still suffering the 1st trimester lag... By the time I get home from work I just want to plonk on the sofa and watch some really cheesy TV Smile

Dusty04 · 10/07/2013 13:32

froubylou your comment made me smile.. I was obsessed with cleaning my house tip to bottom every Saturday morning.. Found out I was pg and the house was a tip until I hit 13 weeks! Thanks god we don't get many visitors!

QueenofWhispers · 10/07/2013 13:38

she likes abba (gimme a man after midnight)! I'm having another one with funky personality! I am ever soo excited...

now how do I manage to wait another 20 weeks to meet her?

violetbean · 10/07/2013 13:41

Exciting news Rose! Congrats, hope telling everyone goes well.

Frouby, well done on all the housework, that's brilliant!

I've got a bit more energy than a few weeks ago, no longer feeling the desperate need for an afternoon snooze. Smile

I'm 17+2 and haven't felt a thing. No pokes, no rumbles, nada. Just have to be patient I guess!

I went shopping at the weekend as I realised that I'd run out of summer clothes that still fit. Bought 3 bump bands and 2 lovely tops - one in New Look and one in Gap (in the sale). Also bought a couple of bigger bras in Bravissimo with no underwiring (one is a sports bra) so am much more comfy now!

I was told by someone not to wash newborn clothes before the baby arrives in case he/she is huge and you have to take them back to exchange for bigger clothes. But I guess putting on a wash when you first have a newborn may not seem the biggest priority, so it's all a balancing act!

QueenofWhispers · 10/07/2013 13:42

when I was pregnant with my son--- he loved 'here comes the sun' and then bobbed along to the whole of mama mia.

maybe it's the hormones, but right now I just feel soo connected with my children. (I'll have children by Christmas...not just the one) I'm having a daughter! Ahhh, I'm ever soo happy. :)

itsliz · 10/07/2013 14:22

Ahhh that's lovely, congrats Queen!

I was a photographer at this year's Isle of Wight Festival and as soon as The Killers came on stage and started playing Mr Brightside, I felt my first little flutter! Haven't felt anything since, but I think I might be having a little rock n' roll baby! Grin

And my mum told me to wash newborn clothes before they arrive in case of sensitive skin. Even now I still come out in a rash if I don't wash clothes or new bedsheets before using them, so I think I'm going to wash everything in case the little one is just as bad as me...

Futterby · 10/07/2013 15:26

Congrats Rose!!

That's lovely Queen, congratulations :)

A week from now we'll have had our scan aaaagh! So nervous and excited all in one :)

musiceverywhere · 10/07/2013 15:40

Hi all, sorry can't reply to everyone and namecheck, but just to let you all know that surgery went well. I am now 'minus' a cricket-ball size cyst (and an ovary) :( and 'plus' a fairly large wound, lot of pain, but relief that it's all done.
Baby well, strong heartbeat which they're checking daily. Was very surreal experience, imagine its similar to what a caesarian must be like. Drs, surgeons, nurses and whole team all lovely. Will chat more when home, hopefully by weekend. Thanks for well wishes.

Futterby · 10/07/2013 15:43

Glad it went well music Flowers hope you feel much better soon Flowers

MrsShrubs · 10/07/2013 16:19

Thanks violet abc and itsliz I might wash half of the new born stuff and then save the others in case, like you say Violet, I end up with a whooper of a baby that heads straight into big clothing then I can always sell the stuff still in packets or with labels if we don't need them.

Glad you're okay music and congrats queen

abcdemma · 10/07/2013 16:29

Glad all's well music Flowers and congrats Queen, I love how excited you are :)
I think most of the stuff I've bought so far is 0-3 months rather than newborn, cause newborn stuff only went up to like 10lbs so would be useless after a month or so. Knowing me we'll end up with a beast of a baby so hopefully get another month or 2 out of the stuff we've got.

QueenofWhispers · 10/07/2013 17:39

I know how you feel abcdemma, when I had DS I had been assured by consultant that he would be no more than 3 kg...imagine my surprise when he came out at 4.8kg?!

QueenofWhispers · 10/07/2013 17:39

needless to say, not a thing under 3mos fit the poor child.

However, if you look at him now you'd never guess he was born a beast.

froubylou · 10/07/2013 18:10

Glad it went well Music. Hope you have a nice easy recovery, take your time before going back to work etc.

I will wash half and leave half with labels on in case I need to take it back. DD was a titchy bubba at 5lb 12 oz so we have to rush out and buy tiny baby stuff for her and it took ages for her to grow into the 0-3 months stuff.

However, DP's 2 previous DCs from his first marriage were both nearly 9lbs and his ex wife was roughly about the same size as me sooooo am assuming this one will be a bit bigger. Hopefully will know nearer to the time as having growth scans.

A nice 7 and a half lb baby will do me lol.

MrsShrubs · 10/07/2013 21:14

Thanks for the advice ladies Smile

violetbean · 10/07/2013 22:17

Congrats Queen! Smile

So glad the surgery went well, Music - wishing you a good recovery. Thanks

2Labradors · 10/07/2013 22:21

music glad your op went well. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

I had a slot on the next VIP sale and bought my first blue items, plus little brother top & sleep suits. So very cute. I got a lovely blue Moses basket too (well, it looks lovely on the pics so is hopefully nice when it arrives) which was half price so £30. I also got clothes for my DD & DS, plus a few maternity items, oh and shoes.....I spent quite a bit Blush

mumoftwoboysS · 11/07/2013 09:13

Latest on my 16 week appointment fiasco- so the midwife asked me to get an appointment at the hospital as she is full for the next 2 weeks, I phoned this morning, the midwife there asked me if it was my first, I said no, she said is everything going ok? I said yes as far as I know. She the said I didn't really need to see anyone now and could wait a couple of weeks till my mw is free! Basically fobbing me off. I said well yes I could but this is my 16 week appointment and I think it's only fair that I get to see someone just like everyone else (including first time mums). So she then said she'd phone my mw and get me squeezed in next week. Mw texted me she's not happy but has squeezed me in.

Can't believe she tried to fob me off. Anyway- another week to wait to hear the heartbeat now Angry

MrsShrubs · 11/07/2013 09:54

mumoftwo that is ridiculous!! Plus why should it matter at all if you've already had a child, every pregnancy is different so you should have the exact same treatment as everyone else. Fingers crossed for you they don't muck you about again next week!
