Starting yet another thread as us chatterboxes have filled up 2 already!

Jucy, I'm so sorry to hear your news. Big hugs, wish there was something more I could say. Flowers

Frouby, if you're feeling crap just fuck the housework off, I do! It'll keep.

I'm scared and excited in equal measures about the scan on Friday. Looking forward to seeing bean and being able to get on with things. But obviously scared of getting bad news like Jucy... 2 days, 1 hour and 50 minutes to go!

My friend has offered to be a birthing partner too. I may well take her up on it, I suspect she'll be more help than OH. And as I'm planning on having a home water birth and OH has already invited his bloody mum (!) think it'll be good to have a friend there. I'm not private at all, have zero issues with people seeing me naked (as my neighbours will tell you) and she's seen me throw up enough times from our party days (though never shit myself to be fair) that I'm not too fussed about that.

Congrats 13loki & 2labs! Lovely news Grin

takingthestairs

actually, I'm horrified with the fact that there is much violence going onthe killing, raping and 'virginity checks' are freaking me out-just reading about it turns my blood to ice. I don't think I've ever been this upset; it's much more than just the violence that is affecting me though, I think it's the fact that life in Egypt doesn't have to be this violent; and it really has such an amazing amount of natural beauty...I am sad that I wont be getting a cheap holiday--but that's more of a facetious comment on my part.
MildredH · 08/07/2013 21:35

Feather- I also worked all weekend through the heat wave! We were fairly quiet ( til the tennis ended that is!)

Seeing occy health in the morning to ask for reduction in long nights/ days.. Eeesh.

Featherbag · 08/07/2013 22:49

Congrats to those finding out the sex! 10 days to go for my 20w scan, really hope we can find out!

Hope your meeting goes well Mildred, be assertive!! After telling my boss I'd be taking leave from 36 weeks because she was hounding me, she's backed off and said we'll discuss it later. I know she was hoping I'd go off at about 30w due to my history and strong likelihood of another prem, but tough titty, I'm not planning things to suit her schedule.

TakingTheStairs · 08/07/2013 22:58

queen I knew I must have picked up your tone wrong, it is awful what's happening isn't it Sad

MildredH · 08/07/2013 23:19

Thanks Feather.. I'm pretty sure they'll insist i see the trust obstetrician..

Can't remember if I've already said this but my A&E SHO friend who's 22 weeks has been signed off nights whereas I'm just asking to reduce to 8 hour shifts so fingers crossed..

2Labradors · 09/07/2013 16:32

Mildred good look with occupational health today

So, had my consultant appointment today and it turns out I've got a low lying placenta. I have to go back for a scan at 34 weeks to see if it's moved any. That will be the Friday before my 1 week holiday to the lakes, which I was told I cannot go on if placenta is still low. The consultant also said they would look at admitting me at 36 weeks until I have c section.

Not what I was expecting this morning, thought she'd check my wee & BP and send me on my way.

I have a scan booked for 23 weeks, however, as they couldn't complete all the checks yesterday so I'm really hoping placenta may have moved then. If it moves up though does it stay there? I know nothing about it all really. I had a quick google but worried about googling too much.

Got to rest as much as poss etc etc

I'm planning on working up until 37 weeks!

5ammy · 09/07/2013 17:22

Hi all,

Just seen the consultant - apparently they're happy for me to have a VBAC again, but I can't have a HBAC (despite me already having had a successful VBAC).

I'm only now getting upset at a mess up 10 yrs ago (when I had my eldest). I got to 42 weeks with DS and they decided to induce me - they gave me a pessary which took effect quickly. I'd been sent home and they kept telling me to wait before coming back to the hospital. When I finally 'was allowed' to go back, they wouldn't examine me, but kept telling me to go for a walk to try and get labour more progressed. Was around 7 hrs later the midwife gave me an internal with the intention of inserting another pessary. It was only when she felt DS's feet (yes FEET) during the internal did she realise he was breech. I remember her MAD panic, her getting a doctor and them doing a scan, seeing my DS on the scan as clear as day sat there. Her saying 'erm, the baby wasn't breech when I induced her I'm sure' - and the Dr telling her not to be so stupid, a baby that big (he was 8lb 9) does not turn at 42 weeks. As I'd been given induction drugs they said they couldn't turn him and all they could do was give me a CS straight away.

If they'd have realise she was breech earlier (they had said he was breech up until 32 weeks, but decided he'd turned after that, obviously he hasn't), there was a chance I could have had a breech vaginal delivery, or that they could have done an ECV. Now, I've been told it is only safe for me to have a hospital birth, during my labour I'll be monitored - like last time, I wasn't allowed to move, which made labour horrific.

Sorry about the whinge - just a bit pee'd off because of someone incompetence 10 yrs ago, I can't have the kind of birth I'd like now.

Congrats to everyone after their positive anomaly scans.

5ammy.

Alyssa1978 · 09/07/2013 19:13

Congrats 2labs on your little boy and to Loki on your little girl so glad your anomaly scans went good.
2labs with ds1 I had a low lying placenta but by the time they checked at 35 weeks it had moved, I hope yours does too Hun.

5ammy that sounds like a horrible experience.

Well when cutting the grass tonight I got the top of the lawn mower (don't ask how, I have no idea lol) caught on the top of my belly bar (the screw on ball bit) and when I went to push the mower forward it ripped the ball though the hole making it a lot bigger......OUCH!!! Lots of blood and pain later I've calmed down lol.

Hope everyone's anomaly scans go well, mines on Thursday Confused

abcdemma · 09/07/2013 19:38

Jees lots to catch up on over the last few days! Congrats to those who've found out the sex , to the newbies and those whose scans have gone well. And hope everyone gets their work/home issues sorted :)
Now I have a job I can finally bitch about work too! Due to the weather it's been ridiculously busy (I work in a family-type pub) and the boss boss was there giving me orders left right and centre (haven't told her about pgy yet, waiting till after scan next week) and I was sooo dehydrated from running around after her. I'd be halfway through a task and she'd give me another ridiculous one. Was trying to down water to keep hydrated and worrying about the effect on bamino (I felt him move during work which was nice) was making it worse. I think it's obvious I'm pg too since a family asked me if I was pg (in a nice way, not intrusively) and once I'd owned up they made all their kids take the plates/glasses etc inside and wouldn't let me lift a finger for them... it was sooo nice to talk to people (other than family) about it. God knows how I'm going to keep up that pace in a few weeks/months time though!
Doppler works though so OH finally got to hear the hb :)

Gannetgob · 09/07/2013 20:13

Oooh, alyssa, that sounds horrible! Hope you aren't in too much pain with it now!

Great news for you both 13loki and 2labs. I can't wait to find out - only 3 weeks for me!

That is rubbish 5ammy. I'm sorry you had such a rubbish experience. I know this time isn't going to be quite how you want, but try to just think of the end result! Smile

Is anyone else struggling a bit in this weather? I'm fine at home but my classroom was 32 degrees yesterday. I am generally not a very sweaty person but I'm a real sweaty Betty at the moment. As in damp clothes all over, not just where you'd expect! Means I'm having to think really carefully about what I'm wearing!

Some maternity dresses arrived for me today and I'm really happy them. They are from new look and are really cool and floaty so are great.

Ok. I'd like to warn you about my next post. This is a whole new level of TMI...

I have more discharge than normal. Nothing too odd about that. However, every once in a while, it seems to have a greenish tinge. I see it but then won't see it again for a while. It has more of a snot look about it rather than a discharge. Sorry, really gross!

I'm guessing this isn't entirely normal. Can someone put my mind at ease?

QueenofWhispers · 10/07/2013 06:05

also tmi

I was actually expecting more discharge than normal--but it hasn't started...should I be worried? It's like a desert; which is weird because for the first time in my life I'm using lubricant.

froubylou · 10/07/2013 07:06

Morning all

Gannet if you are worried hun then try and speak to your midwife or practise nurse this morning. They should tell you to drop a urine sample in then they can test it whilst you are there. Sounds as though you could have a bit of an infection. Won't take them a minute or 2 to test and I'm sure you would be able to do it on your way home from work. Bet you are looking forwards to the summer holidays!

I wouldn't worry about the lack of discharge Queen. Tis a pain but just your hormones hun.

I've struggled a bit in the last couple of days in the heat. Especially yesterday. Went to pick DD up from school (its about half a mile away) and by the time I got there I was a bit dizzy and light headed and had to sit down. And I'm drinking loads and loads which means I'm up and down the stairs for a pee every 2 mins!

Its going to be a bit cooler today and tomorrow though which I am quite happy about. Its DD birthday on Sunday (she'll be 9, where does the time go??). And on saturday we are having a disco and karaoke party at our local pub for her 1 until 3 for her and about 30 kids, then a bbq back at ours for close friends and family. Got so much to do lol. House needs blitzing from top to bottom, windows need doing on the inside and want to have living room curtains down and washed, fridge needs a good clean out, got a pile of ironing up the wall as its been too hot to tackle and I could really do with tackling the pile of paperwork on my desk.

Think I'll leave paperwork whilst friday and try and get physical jobs done whilst its a bit cooler.

And be careful in the sun. Even if you don't usually burn being PG makes it easier to catch it. We had a little BBQ for tea last night. I stayed in the shade and have caught it on my shoulders even though Iput some of the kids factor 30 on. Think its when I did the school run to be honest.

Featherbag · 10/07/2013 07:55

Morning all! DS's op went well, he was first on the theatre list which I will be eternally grateful for as others who arrived at the same time us were still waiting when we were discharged! He seems back to his normal self, we just have to be careful not to get the neat little wound (removal of strange lump) wet for a week but I'm just so pleased he's come through it so well and with so little pain. It was horrible having to hold him while he was anaesthetised, I felt like the most wicked mother ever, but all done now.

Alyssa1978 · 10/07/2013 08:56

Aww feather I'm so glad your ds op went well.

thanks gannet its ok now but I'm scared to take the dressing off lol I'm such a wuss it's amazing I handle labour really well Grin
I hate this weather, don't mind the heat when not pregnant but I would honestly rather have rain when I am lol.
It does sound like a slight infection Hun, get a water sample put in and if there's anything there they should give you something to clear it all up.
tmi I have loads of discharge all the time it never dries up

StaceyP85 · 10/07/2013 09:41

Hi all, Mind if I Join?

I am expecting my first on 21st December.

Just thought I would say Hi, before I start reading

so Hi Smile

Roselau · 10/07/2013 09:55

great news for the op, feather!

hi stacey, i'm also due dec 21st :)

midwife appointment this afternoon. i really really hope she listens for the HB. it's been too long since I saw the little one on the scan. this am, when I was preparing my notes, i found the ultrasound pics and couldn't stop looking at him / her (although I think it's a him)

So once again, i lied down for 30 minutes this morning (was up early so had time to kill), to try and feel something, but I still don't feel anything, no flutters, nada. sometimes i get digestion gurgling, but it's clearly in my stomach (way above my belly button) and I know my uterus is not there yet. so obviously, I'm starting to worry. I'm 16w 4d....

I'm also a lot of stress as my husband is off this afternoon applying for a US work visa. if he gets it, we are moving to california in October, and I will give birth to a little american. if he doesn't we stay here. either options are good, but i'm just dying to finally find out so i can start planning. but the thought of a move when i'm 7 months pregnant does freak me out...

Alyssa1978 · 10/07/2013 09:56

Hi stacey

And welcome Grin

MrsShrubs · 10/07/2013 09:56

Welcome StaceyP85 Smile

featherbag glad everthing went well!

Gannet I agree, have a chat to the MW about it, I am having a lot of discharge but nothing green!

This may be a really silly question but it's my first pregnancy, and I'm the first out of my group of friends to be pregnant so I haven't really got anyone to ask - I read the other day that you should pre-wash any baby clothes (even if they're new) you have before baby wears them, is that right?

Holly1977 · 10/07/2013 10:35

I nearly died yesterday in the heat, couldn't cope at all. Normally I love hot weather and would have sat out every chance I got. As it was I had to keep lying down with a fan blowing on me, I felt sick, dizzy, weak, light headed and generally shit. Thankfully it's cooler today and I've taken some steps to keep my house and bedroom cooler, like leaving blinds and curtains drawn during the day so it can't heat up in the sun.

I've been getting quite a lot of discharge too, it's really annoying. I don't think it's thrush or anything, I've had that enough times to know. Just all part of the fun and games that is being pg! I do notice a faint smell sometimes too which is also making me quite self conscious. Probably a good job OH and I aren't getting on, at least I don't have to worry about him having his face down there!

I've ordered a doppler (despite everything I said!), it's coming today. It does feel far too long between scans and I think it'll be good for me to be able to connect to baby in a tangible way. I haven't felt a single flutter either and am 16 weeks and a bit now. Not worried though, from what I gather this is about the earliest you can feel stuff anyway. I'm constantly on the alert though, wishing it to happen! Apparently having good abs can make it harder to feel so I'm sure that's the reason! Wink

Congrats to those who've had good scans and know what flavour they're having. Got another 4 weeks to wait for mine, it seems like forever!

After realising part of what was getting me down was feeling frumpy and unattractive, I did a bit of shopping on Monday which cheered me up no end. I found some lovely dresses and a skirt, all in charity shops for bugger all. I just bought the next size up which seemed to work quite well. They won't last as long as proper mat clothes but for £3 each, I don't really care. My hair is looking nicer with each passing day so that's one positive thing, and my nails are growing really fast too. So if anyone's still after any clothes, charity shops or Primark might be the way forward.

itsliz · 10/07/2013 10:40

stacey, hello and welcome!

feather, so pleased it all went well and your DS isn't in too much pain Smile

I might be speaking too soon here, but bizarrely I've actually been coping with this heat better now that I'm pregnant...!
I've never had a tan in my life before and usually burn at the mere thought of sunshine, but this weather seems to have given me a bit of colour (not quite a tan, but still!)

As you said though frouby, it still pays to be careful especially since it's due to get even hotter at the weekend... Although it does mean that my daily routine mostly consists of drinking lots of water and going to the loo now!

Holly1977 · 10/07/2013 11:04

Doppler's just arrived, woo!

Sorry, forgot to say welcome to Stacey!

Hey Stacey :)
MrsS, I'm no expert since it's my first too but I'd wash them anyway, just to get rid of that starchy factory feel you can get with new clothes. Make them all nice and fresh for when your bambino first wears them :)
Glad your shopping cheered you up a bit Holly, guess the phrase 'retail therapy' lives up to its name once again :) Can't wait to get my first proper wage so I can do the same Grin
