Starting yet another thread as us chatterboxes have filled up 2 already!

Jucy, I'm so sorry to hear your news. Big hugs, wish there was something more I could say. Flowers

Frouby, if you're feeling crap just fuck the housework off, I do! It'll keep.

I'm scared and excited in equal measures about the scan on Friday. Looking forward to seeing bean and being able to get on with things. But obviously scared of getting bad news like Jucy... 2 days, 1 hour and 50 minutes to go!

My friend has offered to be a birthing partner too. I may well take her up on it, I suspect she'll be more help than OH. And as I'm planning on having a home water birth and OH has already invited his bloody mum (!) think it'll be good to have a friend there. I'm not private at all, have zero issues with people seeing me naked (as my neighbours will tell you) and she's seen me throw up enough times from our party days (though never shit myself to be fair) that I'm not too fussed about that.

QueenofWhispers · 29/06/2013 19:05

ahhhhh I'm craving crepes!!!

QueenofWhispers · 29/06/2013 19:06

I think we'll have okonomiyaki tonight. lets hope it's delicious this time.

weechops · 30/06/2013 08:24

well that's us getting all the last minute stuff packed and sorted before we fly to Majorca later today.:) So I hope everyone keeps well and I will talk to you all when I get home. Slightly excited eek!

Gannetgob · 30/06/2013 09:17

So jealous weechops. My holiday seems so far away! Have a lovely time!

Congrats on the jobs abcd and feathers DH. Great news!

I could eat a crepe too queen. I think I'm going to get some eggs today and make crepes my mission!

I went to an nct nearly new sale yesterday. I didn't really know what to expect but I got some great bargains. I got a carrier thing for £10 which sells for £40 and a playmat for £15 which is £60 from mamas and papas. Then loads of neutral babygros and vests. Only wish I knew what I'm having so I could have got more. I was a bit dubious about second hand stuff but it's all in really good condition, so I'm a happy bunny. Looking forward to going to the next one around here in September!

Everyone having a nice weekend?

2Labradors · 30/06/2013 10:00

Congratulations Feather on your DH's job

to those who mentioned it:

I have fybogel on prescription from my GP, so don't buy it over the counter. I tried lactulose but found it made me crampy. Fybogel is pretty foul but seems gentler on my tum.

Also, speak to your GP about hayfever. I have a nasal spray and eye drops on prescription. He also gave me some tabs to take, but I haven't as I really don't like taking medication in pregnancy, but I have them if hayfever gets too bad.

Whilst I have this maternity exemption I'm bloody using it! I won't be getting any exemptions again after it expires.

I alo see the dentist next week Smile

Well, I'm over 18 weeks now, and I don't know when this energy splurge is meant to start because I'm still waiting.
Yesterday, I woke at 10:30, had some food and went back to sleep until 4pm!! I couldn't believe it.
When I walk through the door during the week after work I just seem to drop. My bathroom needs such a scrub but I just keep giving the toilet a little going over and that's it!
I'm planning on getting these mounds of washing done today and some cleaning, I'm just too tired to do anything other than go to work mon-fri, that just takes it out of me.
I'm still in bed now!

Alyssa1978 · 30/06/2013 10:20

Ugh feeling sorry for myself today, finally a day off work and im loaded with cold, DF in bed as just came off nightshift so have both kids and I've just put in my 3rd load of washing and cleaned the kitchen and downstairs toilet..... Give up now, I'm so tired lol.
Stay in bed 2labs I hope your energy splurge starts soon, I only just started to have more energy a couple weeks ago, I'm 18 weeks tomorrow.
Only 10 more days until next scan Grin
When's every else due their next one?

MildredH · 30/06/2013 10:31

Mine is July 12th- a week on Friday. Can't wait to see that somersaulting bean again! Occasional worries as I know point of scan is to check for anomalies Hmm but trying to push them away!

Pretty much decided we don't want to know gender ( even though I really DO). So hoping we get through it without breaking and asking!!

PistachioTruffle · 30/06/2013 10:44

Mildred, I'm getting occasional anxieties about the scan too. I feel as if I can get more excited once I know that everything looks fine, and I know that chances are it will be fine, but I still worry! We're definitely finding out the gender, I'm hoping it will make it feel a little more real for both of us too, although everyone seems to have an opinion as to why we shouldn't find out Hmm

clare8allthepies · 30/06/2013 10:58

Hi, my scans on the 15th, just wish it would be over as I think I might finally be able to relax and enjoy being pregnant if everything's ok ( not to mention starting to buy stuff) [gr

clare8allthepies · 30/06/2013 11:04

Oops!

Think I would be less anxious if I could feel movement, 18 + 4 now but with DD I was beside myself with worry at my 20 week scan as hadn't felt anything, had convinced myself the worst had happened then was amazed as she was on screen breakdancing!

Have tentatively decided on beginning maternity leave on 1st November which is about 3 and a half weeks before due date and ive pencilled in the 2 weeks before as annual leave. Last time I went off 4 weeks before but am finding it harder going this time with a longer commute and a child to deal with as well! Smile

MildredH · 30/06/2013 11:06

Haha that's so weird Pistachio- we feel like everyone wants to know why we're not finding out the sex! Everyone has a bloody opinion don't they!

Argh I'm in such a grump today. Not even sure why. Got two birthday parties this afternoon- our niece on DH side and auntie on my side. Got to rush around sorting food shop, laundry etc before we go when I'd like to just lie out in the garden.

( clearly I'm making great progress on these jobs so far- lying in bed mn'ing!)

We're doing an hour max at each- determined to stick to this!

Alyssa1978 · 30/06/2013 11:46

We're the opposite pistachio everyone here thinks we should find out lol
My DF mother has 4 grandsons and would love a girl, so a lot of pressurising here, just makes me more determined not to find out evil laugh
I always get anxious at this next scan mildred but I'm sure everything will be fine Smile

PistachioTruffle · 30/06/2013 12:26

Haha that's really quite funny! I think I'm just going to have to accept that everyone has an opinion on everything baby related, and if we weren't finding out they'd be pestering us as to why not as yours are! Smile, nod and ignore Grin

TakingTheStairs · 30/06/2013 15:45

featherbag congrats to you and your DH on the new job. What a relief.
weechops holidays!! Mega jealous.
It's 25 degrees outside and I'm sitting on the sofa making sure that my dog is still breathing, and happy to do it. He was stung by a bee, went into anaphylactic shock and neary died last night. I kept waiting for the call from the vets to say he hadn't made it through the night. Still can't quite believe he's still alive. He really was that bad. It was a nightmare. And you wouldn't believe it, he was completely unresponsive, I couldn't get him up, was crying and pleading for help and the man in the park I asked to help me carry him ignores my pleas for help. Several times. Asshole.

pistachio we found out that we're having a boy and I've had people tell me they love that we've found out and others tell me that I've ruined my own surprise. People are so opinionated.

LadyMedea · 30/06/2013 18:28

Had a baby shopping spree for the first time. Got blankets, sleep suits and a sleeping bag in the mothercare sale. Then spontaneously bought a huge bundle of reusable nappies on eBay. They were local and on buy it now and the bambino mio birth to potty set that I'd looked at as well as a load of shaped nappies. Now looking at them I'm all terrfied at the prospect of cloth nappying.

It's something I really believe in as I can't bear the thought of all those nappies in landfill... But I totally get why people go disposable. My main fear is not getting them to actually work containing wee and poo.... But I know disposables don't always work either..... At least we've only spent £50 rather than the £250 they would have been new so if its a disaster it is not the end of the world.

Anyone else using/used cloth nappies?

Alyssa1978 · 30/06/2013 18:46

I admire you lady but I'm using disposable.
I'm sure you'll be just fine with them, my mum always tells me they never had any other option but to use cloth nappies lol

you are right pistachio someone always has some sort of opinion about babies and what you should/shouldn't be doing. I need to learn to just nod, smile and ignore lol

2Labradors · 30/06/2013 21:11

Taking I'm so glad your dog is ok, that sounds so scary. My 2 are always trying to catch bees & wasps.

My scan is a week tomorrow, I'm feeling so nervous about it. Started watching a programme the other night and a lady was pregnant but had found that her baby had an illness at the 20 week scan, I had to turn it off. My children and DH are so excited because we are hopefully going to find out the sex, but I just keep thinking, I just hope everything is ok.

Baby is kicking away though and the kicks are getting stronger, one made me jump today.

TakingTheStairs · 30/06/2013 22:14

Thanks 2labs it was pretty scary

Is it your 12/16/20 wk scan? I'm sure everything will be okay. Fingers crossed for you though xx

Futterby · 30/06/2013 22:37

Sorry I've not posted in a while, just catching up.

Had a horrible comment from DP's mum today when she saw me eating some strawberries - "so you're just eating anything and everything now?" closely followed by "you know, it took me eleven years to lose the baby weight! And I wasn't even eating for two, unlike you!" She never lost the "baby weight", and she can fuck right off - I was eating FRUIT. I've never liked her but I'm trying to be as nice as possible to her for the sake of the baby but she's making it so difficult.

MildredH · 30/06/2013 23:10

Ah Futterby Hmm what a miserable cow! Mean things seem to tumble from some people's mouths. I hope she has the grace to feel bad now..

musiceverywhere · 30/06/2013 23:44

Been away for a bit so sorry for long post.
Hi to all new ladies, hope you?re enjoying the thread! We definitely need a new list- anyone with any time/energy for it??
Had my letter with down?s syndrome risk while was on holiday, 1 in 11000, so that?s positive :)
Can?t remember if I thanked everyone for reassurance while I was on holiday, but in case I didn?t- THANKS! And thanks Nom for the PM, was good to know I had a potential French speaker ?nearby? in case of emergency.
Have definitely got the second trimester energy, however that now means that I?m worrying about how chip (new name!) is doing. Have scan on Tuesday to look at cyst and hopefully get some decisions made, so will be good to see how all is going. Haven?t really felt any movement which would be reassuring.
Have been really suffering with what a dr at work tells me is pelvic girdle pain. Really sore hips and back especially at night, and as I don?t think I was supposed to sleep on my back, turning over from side to side in bed is really painful. Bought a special (expensive) pillow which helped a bit last night, but apparently its worse the more active you are during the day so will see how it goes after a day running around at work.
Got some half price maternity trousers at work, still a bit big at the moment, but couldn?t pass up a bargain. Tummy definitely there though, was lovely to wear floaty dresses and show mini bump off. Feel a bit more self-conscious at work.
Holly, sorry you?ve had a scare, glad all well on scan. Did you ever get anything sorted out with your dentist? And your colleague sounds crazier by the week, I hope you get to Mat Leave without exploding!
Queenofwhispers I can?t believe you?ve been booked in for section already! What country are you in? Must be strange to have definite date. Glad you haven?t moved thread though. Sorry to hear about the probs with your sisters, glad its all sorted now.
Futterby, Shock about the woman in the shop- people are so convinced of their opinion when it comes to other people?s pregnancies! And can?t believe what your DPs mum said- how cheeky! Do these people not hear themselves??
Abcdemma- congrats on the job! Everyone with work stress- I feel your pain, especially in public sector.
Alyssa, hope you?re feeling better and your DP is being a bit more sensitive.
Featherbag,- I?ve had some good workdays recently also. I think it?s the sunny days, for some reason people just don?t feel the need to go to A &E quite as urgently?.
Right! Bedtime x

13loki · 01/07/2013 07:17

Oh music Get a referral to the physio for the pelvic girdle pain. I had it quite badly with my last pregnancy (on crutches from 29 weeks, signed off work sick at 30 weeks). Where I was (Stoke) they had a group session where they gave tips for coping and then a short private session to see if you needed anything extra. A support belt helped at first, too, but a proper one from the physio. There are good and bad days, if you are having a good day, don't do more than you could on a bad day (you'll feel it the next day).
Futterby MIL sounds like a workmate who said to our 8 moonth pregnant friend "You're really just letting yourself go, aren't you?" when she had half a chocolate muffin AND half a cinnamon roll. She nicely swore at him Smile

Featherbag · 01/07/2013 08:19

Hi Music, pleased things are good! I've been seeing the Physio from 9 weeks for SI dysfunction, I've got a support belt but some days are better than others. Good days I feel I've got something approaching normal mobility, bad days I have to move my right leg by physically lifting it with my hands and get up stairs on hands and knees Confused A colleague who had the same told me hydrotherapy really helped her, while another ended up with a sick note and crutches - I'm going to ask the Physio if I can have hydrotherapy as we've got a pool at work.

QueenofWhispers · 01/07/2013 09:07

Welcome back Music and hello little Chip!

I'm in the UK; I'm having a c-section because I had one the first time around due to pre eclampsia; this second one is because I am at high risk of developing it again :( which is not something I ever wanted to hear again. I really hope I don't develop it this time.

Featherbag

I had something like that during my 1st pg. I found hottish baths with epsom salts and the angry cat pose (yoga) really helped me. I hope they can bring you some relief too.

Futterby

My own mil is hiding in the shadows these days. I really don't want to know what is up her sleeve.
froubylou · 01/07/2013 10:08

Morning all

Busy weekend but very lovely. Won lots at pony show yesterday so DD gone to school with a bookbag full of sashes and rosettes to show.

Every joint in my body hurt this morning though when I woke up. My knees, back, pelvis, elbows and wrists. Think I overdid things a bit. But its eased off now I'm moving around a bit.

House trashed though and got stop smoking midwife coming at 11am. Should be at least attempting to tidy living room but really can't be arsed. I'll just shift a few pony clothes and a bit of tack to make room for her lol. Can't dump it in kitchen as dog pinches them and sleeps in them so they will have to stay making my room smell of pony until the 6 loads of people washing has been done! God knows where it all comes from.

Welcome back Music!
