Starting yet another thread as us chatterboxes have filled up 2 already!

Jucy, I'm so sorry to hear your news. Big hugs, wish there was something more I could say. Flowers

Frouby, if you're feeling crap just fuck the housework off, I do! It'll keep.

I'm scared and excited in equal measures about the scan on Friday. Looking forward to seeing bean and being able to get on with things. But obviously scared of getting bad news like Jucy... 2 days, 1 hour and 50 minutes to go!

My friend has offered to be a birthing partner too. I may well take her up on it, I suspect she'll be more help than OH. And as I'm planning on having a home water birth and OH has already invited his bloody mum (!) think it'll be good to have a friend there. I'm not private at all, have zero issues with people seeing me naked (as my neighbours will tell you) and she's seen me throw up enough times from our party days (though never shit myself to be fair) that I'm not too fussed about that.

Roselau · 20/06/2013 10:34

mrsshrubs i think those are only examples, because I was 1 in 16,000

ccsays · 20/06/2013 10:44

MrsShrubs The woman at he clinic said to me it could go up to "something like 1 in 50000".

MildredH · 20/06/2013 11:41

I'm 1/40'000. I think there's two numbers though- your age related risk and then your actual risk based on the NT and your blood results.

Changing the subject slightly- has anybody felt any movements yet? I know it's possibly a bit early ( I'm 16+5) but I just can't wait! Firstly for the reassurance, but also to start feeling like its a reality that I'm growing a small person and not just getting podgy!

mumoftwoboysS · 20/06/2013 12:01

ccsays that's good odds. I can't help thinking my results won't be good- nuchal fold 2.4 and I'm 36 - just clicked on the link and with age alone my odds go down to 1/400. I'm healthy, don't smoke and have really low bp- hope that helps even it out!! Now I'm really nervous about the results- I'm sure my previous DS's results were both 1/ thousands.
Sad

Roselau · 20/06/2013 12:06

mum didn't you get your test done a few days ago now? I seem to remember that those that didn't get results on the spot they told them that if it's bad news you would get a call really quickly. so I would take no call as a good sign?
I understand you're nervous though. I don't understand why some hospital give you the results within the hour and some make you wait ages. It's not very fair. I got really lucky that my hospital was the former, because I would be like you.
Let us know as soon as you hear - crossing my fingers for good news.

b0nker5Mum · 20/06/2013 12:09

Mildred, I swore I felt movement on Tuesday, right where the heartbeat is usually heard on the Doppler almost like a twitch which was on and off all day (and felt almost bruised inside) not had it since though so I'm not so sure....

Finally got my scan date which went to the wrong address, I have very little faith in our local NHS trust... they have a combination of details for my DP on my notes and the only correct one was his name so the scan letter went to a previous address which luckily my ex doesn't live at anymore!

The scan date works for us but unfortunately my daughter is away so I have booked in for a private reassurance scan so she can come along as we want her to feel involved... It is literally just a 15 min appointment where they check the heartbeat etc and take a pic so wont look for any anomalies but it will be good to see bub again!

abcdemma · 20/06/2013 12:15

Great news on all the test results
Not sure about movement, felt something when I got home after mw yesterday but bambino's gotta fight through blubber to be felt so not sure if it was. Mw described it as 'fluttering' which was similar to what I felt.
OH was gutted he wasn't there to hear the heartbeat so got a Doppler off eBay as a surprise for him :)

MrsShrubs · 20/06/2013 12:19

Blimey 1 in 50000, you do look at the results and just get blinded by figures and other things which are a bit like - I've no idea what you are?!

I had flutterings around week 11 or 12 when they say the baby can get the hiccups from the amniotic fluid, it was like having nervous butterflies but much lower down but after that I haven't felt too much. So exciting people are nearly reaching the points where you can feel things for sure!

froubylou · 20/06/2013 12:40

Well I'm sure I've felt jesus move. I know at 14 weeks you shouldn't but I distinctly remember when dd began to move and it is the same fluttering sensation. Felt it first at about 12 weeks and feel it when I am laid flat or in the bath.

My placenta is to the front though and apparently you feel it more in your back but this is quite low down but quite deep inside if you know what I mean.

It's either jesus or my bowels moving lol.

Not be too many weeks before we start complaining that our bumps are fidgeting around all night and keeping us awake lol.

AuroraOrtiz · 20/06/2013 13:52

Thanks frouby and rose for your reassurance, although hearing the others talk of such low odds like 1 in 50000 makes feel a bit scared again! Although maybe you guys are younger than me. Oh well, will just have to hope the low risk works out.

QueenofWhispers · 20/06/2013 14:13

I want to go here:
www.jumeirah.com/hotels-resorts/maldives/jumeirah-dhevanafushi/

I want to go right now. I can't though, because the UKBA has my application for permanent residence and I have to wait for them to give my passport back. I'll go back to day dreaming of vacation.

musiceverywhere · 20/06/2013 14:13

Hi all, glad of all good newsscans. Fluffy, I'm glad you've had good support from drs and you've made a decision. I can't imagine how hard it must be, but at least you've been able to take some control at this point. Thinking of you, all the best for future.
On my phone so sorry can't check all posts in more detail.
We're all ok over here I think. Bleeding became brown discharge which has now stopped so I'm going to go with my theory of tiny haemorrhage somewhere that's stopped now. Doesn't completely stop the worry though and thankfully have scan already booked the week after we get back (to discuss cyst) so hopefully get reassurance then.
Thanks for your message Nom, was good to know I had support if needed. Am having a lovely relaxing holiday now. Gutted I'm missing out on all lovely wine and cheese though Hmm Have told DH I'm having Brie/pate/red wine/prawn cocktail for Christmas dinner! (EDD 13th)

violetbean · 20/06/2013 16:09

Thanks so much for the epilator advice everyone! Will have a good think before committing.

Music, so glad your holiday is going well, have a great time relaxing!

I am getting unreasonably annoyed with my pregnant friend who is due in November. She is really slim and her bump is poking out neatly, but she seems to make a big deal of this every time I see her with other friends. eg yesterday, she said 'it's so nice having a firm, neat bump, it means I can really feel it when the baby is moving around'.

I am so Envy as mine is just flab caused mainly by overeating! (and can't feel any movement yet, although wouldn't expect to!).

Don't think she means anything bad by it, she is a lovely person, I just can't help comparing her slim to my flab and feeling down about it! Sigh.

ladymalfoy · 20/06/2013 16:16

Hello all! Had 12 week scan yesterday and I'm 13 weeks! So my due date is now 27th Dec. I'm an Xmas eve baby! What a Birthday present! DH spoke to the tangerine last night in bed! He's gone all protective and soppy since he saw mini lady or lord wriggling and bouncing!
Hope you're all doing well with your squiggling ones.

violetbean · 20/06/2013 16:18

ps, Rose, sounds like a tricky situation. I feel similarly on the days I'm at work (I work part-time and am trying to finish my PhD the rest of the week). Thing is, if you work yourself too hard you might be forced to take more time off, which would look just the same to the 'old boys club'. At my work there is a sick room that I know I could ask to access if I needed a lie-down, although I haven't yet. It's nice to know it's there if I need it though.

Afternoon naps are becoming problematic on my PhD days though, as I'm just using longer naps as an excuse not to study! Managing my own time is sooooo hard at the mo... shouldn't complain though, everyone has their trials in life and hopefully they make us stronger in the long run!

Dusty04 · 20/06/2013 17:17

Just got in from work to a letter saying my screening results were 1 in 17,639.. :) I've been jumping everytime my phone rang all week incase tests came back high risk (said they would ring within 5 days if high risk and if low risk letter would be sent within 10). We'd held off telling people until we got the results, guess its real now!

MrsShrubs we got long awaited for new wooden flooring and carpet in hall/living room.. 2 days letter found out I was pregnant and about 5 days later I hated the smell, it made me wretch constantly! Got over the wrenching now but still don't like the smell!

MildredH · 20/06/2013 17:18

For those still feeling wiped out I'd like to offer hope! ( as you'll all know from my moaning!) I felt like my batteries were half empty for the whole first trimester and wondered if I'd ever feel "normal" again!

Magically, and fairly suddenly about 15-16 wks I now feel 100% better.. Although I'd never turn one down, the afternoon nap no longer feels like the holy grail!

I definitely have bags more energy, rarely feel sick and am back to eating pretty normally. Grin

Just pudgy as hell.. I blame the potato addiction of trimester one ( and the preceding 32 years of my life)

MrsShrubs · 20/06/2013 17:34

MildredH I'll be clinging to that ray of hope, the tiredness is really starting to wear thin now especially when you can't really hit the caffeine to try and balance it back out Confused

dusty so glad the smells thing isn't just me!! Also discovered today I no longer like the taste of decaff coffee - yuk!

Dusty04 · 20/06/2013 17:41

Yeah I've off coffee completely ! I work in an office where everyone drinks it all day - bleurgh!!

MildredH · 20/06/2013 17:54

MrsShrubs.. You're so right it's the endless nature of it that just makes it hard.

I really did wonder if it'd ever end. When I started to feel better I got so worried I went to the GP to get him to check for fetal hb.. Can't win!

There's definitely light at the end for anyone still really suffering!

On another note- I got some fab maternity jeans in Primark of all places yesterday.. Super soft skinnies with a nice soft band at the top. A touch too big but ooooh- the comfort of wearing something that's not tight!! Grin

2Labradors · 20/06/2013 18:52

violet I have 2 pregnant friends, both not quite as far along as me but already I feel like a hippo compared to them. One is very skinny, which I'm not, and I know we're all different, but I do wish I looked like one of those people who don't look pregnant until you see the bump. I look pregnant all over. I do feel blessed to be having this baby though, and I banged on tonnes of weight in my other 2 pregnancies and lost it all again, so I know I can do it again.

Well, I've had a horrible horrible sickness bug. Lots of V&D and didn't eat for nearly 24 hours because of it so was worried sick about baby.
Still feeling little rumbling kicks though so hoping everything is ok in there. I got in the bath which usually makes little one shuffle loads and it did but I can't help worrying that the bug may have caused some damage.
Dragged myself back into work today but had a banging headache by the end of the day and still not feeling good, just drained.

Wondered if the headache is due to not eating much so I'm sat eating chocolate digestives at the moment Grin

Got 20 week scan (19 and a bit actually) 2 weeks on Monday and looking forward to that, hoping all is ok then too

Featherbag · 20/06/2013 19:19

Mildred, do I understand you correctly? Are you telling us Primark have started doing maternity clothes?!

MrsShrubs · 20/06/2013 19:36

What featherbag said!! That would be amazing!

2labradors hope you feel better soon & everything is okay

violetbean · 20/06/2013 19:46

Mildred, so good to have some hope! Thanks Smile

2labs, sorry to hear about the sick bug, yuk! glad you can feel wiggling little one - so reassuring.

I have to stop feeling Envy and start feeling Smile - I wanted so much to be pregnant, and I need to reinforce the positives, not the negatives, in my over-anxious brain! Blush

QueenofWhispers · 20/06/2013 20:50

I'm quite big on a normal basis but I think people can tell I'm pregnant. I'm carrying quite high, it might as well be a new low boob. I do feel beanie moving tonnes. Lots of kicking and poking going on. I think I'm further along than I originally posted, I'm due Dec.6th.
