Hi nic just seen your photo!! She is adorable! Smile
I have so many questions to ask but will give you time to breathe first!
I think I will be the same. Will get home and think "holly f**ck we have a baby!!!"
How is Amy doing? Any advances on bf?

BelissimaLol · 27/06/2013 18:28

How's everyone doing? Very quiet over here!
Just bought a nursing chair. Found it on eBay and the owners live right on my doorstep. Paid 55 quid for a 200 quid chair in perfect condition!!!! Really happyGrin

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 27/06/2013 20:13

mrsbri congrats on getting home. I think the oh fuck I have a baby feeling lasted about a month with me.

lol well done on your bargin chair -Envy

weechops · 27/06/2013 22:02

Ooh bargain lol!

I had my 16 week appointment today and got to hear the heartbeat :) was luffly :)

So now it's a mad few days before we go on holiday!

Kittenkatzen · 28/06/2013 08:46

Oh yay for being home mrsbri! Hope you're settling in well Smile

Having a nightmare commute to work this morning so will be back to catch up properly a bit later

Kittenkatzen · 28/06/2013 11:00

Ok I'm back....only took me THREE SODDING HOURS to get into work this morning, so that wasn't too bad Hmm

Wen to the hospital for my GTT yesterday. Wasn't too bad (the blood suckers there are pretty good) but I was ready to commit murder having to spend the final two hours of my 14 hour fast sitting in the hosi cafe surrounded by people eating lovely homemade cakes, hot buttered toast etc!

nic hope everything's going swimmingly at home and you're not too sore from the section. Amy is gorgeous!

lol excellent bargain hunting work on the nursing chair, sounds fab!

wee glad the 16wk appt went well, it's so lovely hearing the hb for the first time!

to twinkle hope you're doing ok lovely :) and hi to everyone i've missed off.

wee so pleased the 16 week app went well. Lovely to hear the heartbeat.

LittleMissSnowShine · 28/06/2013 15:38

lol - I didn't get flu jab this time or last time, since it didn't seem (to me) to have been overly well tested for possible effects on unborn baby and swine flu was already on the wane by summer 2010. But like you i thought the whooping cough one was pretty much a no brainer. Hope your arm is less sore! And well done on your chair bargain! I used mine LOADS so they are well worth it..the rocking even helps with managing contractions!

nic - so glad you're getting to go home. Never will your own bed seem like such an amazing place!!!

kitten - When will you get your GTT results back? Hope you are getting lots of lovely hot buttered toast today to make up for fasting y'day and the awful work commute today!

wee - Ahhh congrats on scan and heartbeat! Woo hoo!! And have an absolutely brilliant holiday :)

twinkle - hello there! hope you are well?

Not much to report here - caught up with a group of good friends last night, had them all round for (v easy!) dinner. People about to head off on holidays etc. and then our new arrival will be imminent so nice to get a chance to catch up before that.

I've started taking delicious (ha!) apple flavoured Spatone instead of the iron tablets GP prescribed me. Still tastes gross and makes me feel a bit sick but much better than the iron tablets were making me feel so I guess i'll stick to that to help with anemia.

Also sorting out present for childminder cos next week is my last week in work and DS's last week with childminder (where he's been for last 2 years while i'm at work) before he starts at playgroup in September. She is on the other side of town beside where I work so there's no point in him going all summer since I'd have to drive him over everyday when I'm off work but the noise of DS just playing and carrying on is tough on the nerves tho Grin I don't normally mind a racket either but I think it's the heavily pg hormones making my nerves are jangle lol

Kittenkatzen · 28/06/2013 16:31

Just had my GTT results back - all clear, woohoo!! Very relieved and will be booking in to look around the mw led birthing centre soon in celebration! :)

littlemiss maybe earplugs are the way forward...?! :o

OP posts:
BelissimaLol · 28/06/2013 22:18

Good news on scan! What is GTT? It's probably obvious but I'm quite thick! Guessing its growth related? How many weeks are you btw!? Think we're not too far from each other...
I've been quite uncomfortable today. Lots of BH and bump feeling tight and big!
Have first ante natal tomorrow. Not sure what to expect!

Question: do you think nesting can affect men a bit as well? My DH has been unusually domesticated rather than the usual lazy shit I love so much and been bulk buying / tidying up, and I even caught him stood in he middle of the nursery "just looking". It's all very cute if a little peculiar. Is it only mine? Grin

kittykatsforever · 29/06/2013 02:23

It's just yours lol Grin well it wasn't mine anyway still lazy
Gtt is blood test for gestational diabetes I think? Great news it's clear anyway kitten, that commute sounds the pits, when do you finish?
Smile For 16wk heart beat wee , it doesn't seem like yesterday since mine
Mrs b, how are you getting on back at home, are you in alot of pain from c section or are you finding it ok?

kittykatsforever · 29/06/2013 02:25

Have you had anaemia badly little? Will you send ds at all to childminder when ds2 arrives? I still send dd1 to nursery 1 day a week for routine and to enjoy abit of 1 on 1 time with dd2

LittleMissSnowShine · 29/06/2013 05:42

kitten - yay on the all clear! dairy milk to celebrate Wink If I could get away with ear plugs I def would wear them at the min!!

kitty - my mum and MIL are both v close by and my mum has summer off from teaching while MIL doesn't work so I will have good babysitters in July / Aug and then DS1 will start play group near by 5 mornings a week in September so hopefully that will give me some good 1 on 1 time with DS2 and I think it will be really good for DS1 because he's just getting to the age where that kind of structured play will really benefit him. Hope e settles into his new routine ok! anaemia is ok, iron levels are low but I think feeling pretty wrecked at 34 weeks is normal enough lol Think spat one is helpin tho... how are you doing?

lol - I did make DH paint and put a new floor down in nursery when DS1 was due but I can't say I have noticed him nesting much this time tbh! Going to make him play with new car seat this wkend tho so at least one of us will have figured out how it works before we actually need to use it!

Argh been awake since half 4 - no idea why!! Pelvis and hips sore, weird dreams and..hungry!!!

Kittenkatzen · 29/06/2013 07:10

Im 29+2 lol, think you might be a couple of weeks ahead of me? Awww bless your DH and his nesting :) mine has been the same to a certain extent - he's started coming to tesco with me each week, supposedly to help carry the bags but I know it's really because he likes to look down the baby/toy aisles! Grin yesterday we somehow came home with a £25 (!) baby thermometer and something very cute called a foot finder!

Yep GTT is for gestational diabetes - round here you have to do a 1hr lucozade test at 28wks...mine came back high so I got sent for the full glucose tolerance test which involves 14 hideous hours of fasting and being drained of about 10 gallons of blood

littlemiss I've been waking up starving too for a few days now, most disconcerting as usually I can't face food for at least a couple of hours. Who wants to eat at 4am??

kitty how is DD2 settling in? I bet she's getting big now right? Smile

OP posts:
BelissimaLol · 29/06/2013 08:35

Thanks for clarifying GTT! I had no idea. My sugars were also a little high on my 28 week check so last time we did it again. So I'll find out on tue if they are at normal level. Did you have a scan to see baby as all or just the horrible bit?
I'll be 36 on tue so a little ahead of you.
Exciting news all around from everyone. Sorry it's hard to reply individually on phone!

kittykatsforever · 29/06/2013 09:38

What on earth is a foot finder?? Are you worried you might misplace them Wink
We are getting on well thanks although dh has been off with me so I've been abit spoilt, the real work will start on sat when he's back on full shifts! I'm hoping dd2 will be on just 1 night feed by then but at the minute she's steadfast about wanting 2, we were doing very well last night 7-1 with no wake up when dd1 woke up as shed lost her bunny in the covers ( they look so cute when they have a comforter like a teddy they want with them 24/7 Untill you realise how filthy they get and what happens if you misplace it!) that woke up dd2 I thought well she may well not wake again after this one, a nice big feed but aparently 2 hrs later ( just 1hr since she was asleep and 30 minutes for me) she was practically starving Confused no amount of persuasion would change her mind!
The only perk being she slept til 8, and she's getting quite good at self soothing so going to sleep even if we put her down awake touches wood
Next step convincing dd1 she wants to use her potty she doesn't

MrsBri · 29/06/2013 10:25

Hi all!

Great news about hearing the heartbeat, wee :-) It's an amazing moment, isn't it?

Kitty, I'm not in too much pain really. The wound site can sting a bit though. And my innards feel like they've been properly rummaged around in and achey / bruised. Which they have been and are, I suppose.

I've ordered a bed nest to rent as we are struggling to settle Amy at night and we are both exhausted. DH needs to get more sleep as he has a physical job, so we are hoping that helps as she loves being close to me in bed.

She is also a boob monster. She will feed for 2 hours, have an hour break then go back on for another hour. It's exhausting and my nipples are stinging a bit! :-/

It's just amazing having our baby at home and she's adorable, even if we are sleep deprived!

Kitten, great news re the GTT :-) Lots of cake for you now!

Lol, not long left for you now. How exciting.

My DH didn't really nest. He did love standing in the nursery though :-)

BelissimaLol · 29/06/2013 14:21

Hi nic
Lovely to see you here! What is a bed nest??? Each time I think I've learnt stuff something else comes up and I've no idea what it is! Confused
I'm getting less scared now time is approaching and more and more excited! Just don't think I can cope with being 2 weeks late though!
My tens machine arrived today. Have not played with it yet.
Sun is out in London and we have friends over for the weekend who will bring us lots of presents so it's all good!
Hope everyone has a lovely sat Grin

kittykatsforever · 29/06/2013 16:26

Nic baby a is probably just building up your milk supply, the first two weeks are the hardest with bf then it does get easier, nipples definatly stop hurting after that time as they toughen up!
In terms of settling her, maybe try to get her to settle herself in the day so she gets used to it when your not knackered and can deal with the crying easier, I didn't but lots of people find swaddling helps too
If she's waking alot at night for food make sure you are waking her every three hrs in the day for food, it's tempting to let them sleep but if they have a long stint without food in the day they won't at night and will wake more then

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 29/06/2013 16:55

kitten great news on the GTT test, celebrate with cake Grin

lol re husband and nesting, if men get the nesting think too then mine seems to be immune Sad. Nursery is still a junk room.

nic Amy sounds so cute. Kitty is right, she is probably just trying to set up a decent milk supply. Be warned though they often have a growth spurts until almost 3 months old. You may find she turns into a boob monster again. (After that breastfeeding is easy peasy).

I'm off out tonight, very rare for me. It's my brothers fiancées third hen do, this one is the northern arm and mothers are invited too so it should be less raucous than your typical hen do.

kittykatsforever · 29/06/2013 20:17

Yes when is right, I think the growth spurts are surposed to be 2-3 wks then 6 then 12, who knows for sure but you definatly find every few weeks or so the baby wants to be fed what feels like every hour, it doesn't last long but on the day your like you seriously can not be hungry again?!?Shock

kittykatsforever · 29/06/2013 20:19

Enjoy your night out when Grin I can't remember the last time I got drunk, seriously!! I don't think I've had a proper feel sick, can't remember session since having kids!

Kittenkatzen · 29/06/2013 21:01

Smile kitty - a foot finder would appear to be brightly coloured socks and wristbands with rattly/crinkly animals attached for the baby to grab at. Toys you can't drop in other words! Glad you're getting on ok - good luck with the potty training!

Amy sounds just lovely nic!

when have a fab evening!

OP posts:
MrsBri · 30/06/2013 00:58

Thank you for the advice :-)

The midwife came today and Amy has lost 7% of her birth weight, which is fine. Just got to start gaining now.

I asked for breast feeding help and she corrected a couple of small latching issues, which has really helped. Though Amy never just has one side. Usually she has both sides twice before stopping!

The midwife also said that I should put something smelling of me in the Moses basket, so I've put a nightie in there tonight. I'll see how that goes shortly! :-)

Kitty, I'll try the daytime settling thing next week. Give her a chance to get used to it this week.

Hope you had a good night out When.

Lol, a bed nest is a cot which attaches to your bed so baby is right next to you, but not in with you. A co sleeping compromise kind of.

weechops · 30/06/2013 08:22

Well that's us getting ready to jet off to sunny Majorca for 2 weeks :) Hope everyone keeps well and I will talk to you when I get home. Slightly excited eek!
