MrsBri · 24/06/2013 01:52

Ha ha! Sorry...I was recovering from a c section. Still am!

Little Amy Alice was born at 13.11 Sunday afternoon weighing 9lb 7oz! She wouldn't come down the birth canal despite me kneeling up and having gravity on our side, so we went for forceps, but she was too high, so I had a section instead.

She is sooooo beautiful. :-)

She hasn't taken to breast feeding yet though, so is on formula for now so she doesn't starve. I'm sure she will get it soon though.

I love my daughter so much and daddy is just ecstatic and emotional. :-)

MrsBri · 24/06/2013 01:58

Oh, and 2-10 in about 3 hours with 0-6 on paracetamol and codeine, gas and air to 10, then pethidine to push!

Fast bloody labour!

Waters broke at 6.20 with meconium in, by the way and contractions started at about 7.30am with force! They would have induced me otherwise due to foetal distress.

Bit worrying, but all is well.

:-)

Thingymajigs · 24/06/2013 06:07

Aww, congratulations! Smile Lovely name and such a healthy weight too. Hope you recover quickly MrsBri.
I gave up FB over a year ago but I'm considering starting one up just so I can see all the cute baby pictures.

Adsum · 24/06/2013 06:42

Congratulations!! That is a very fast labour and very little pain relief compared to mine!!! Glad you are feeling well and good luck with the feeding x SmileWineWineThanksThanks

BelissimaLol · 24/06/2013 09:18

Thank god you came Grin! Was struggling to keep my mouth shut. She is gorgeous and bri looks absolutely in love too!
How long are u staying in hospital? Have loads of questions to ask but will give you time to recover first!
Once again congratulations.
I hope there is someone due before me? I'm 35 weeks tomorrow. Nesting like crazy at the moment. Doing my own head in!

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 24/06/2013 11:31

Congrats, seen the photos she is so cute.

You did really well with your pain relief, best of luck with the breastfeeding. My midwife told me loads of women she looks after give the babies formula for about 3 days then put them on the breast when the milk comes in.

Thingymajigs · 24/06/2013 12:10

Right, I've created a FB just to share with this group. I want to see the cute babies! Not sure how I add or find you lot so if someone could PM me that'd be helpful.
How are you feeling now mrsbri? When will you be allowed out of the hospital?
Scan went well this morning. Apparently it was a very clear picture much better than they normally get at this stage although it still just looked like a baked bean to me. Grin Good strong heartbeat, they could even see the babies pulse going through and I am so relieved. They put me at 7+1 which is only two days out of my LMP date. They did see some cysts and a hematoma but they said they were nothing to worry about. Naturally I'm worrying.

kittykatsforever · 24/06/2013 12:10

Congrats!!! Your little girl weighs more then my 5 wk old lol
Bet you were surprised when that fanjo poped out Wink going to go and nosey at your pics now xx

kittykatsforever · 24/06/2013 12:14

Congrats thingy, just concentrate on the nice healthy hb, it's very common to have cysts etc and you'll probably find at 12wks they have gone so don't worry, it's good news!
Did baby b actually arrive on the due date you thought Nic ?

LittleMissSnowShine · 24/06/2013 12:39

Congrats nic!!! FlowersFlowersFlowersFlowersGrin and also here's some Wine for you!!! Your little Amy is beautifuuulll!!! And what a fast labour too (not bitter about my epic 2 day ordeal first time round at all lol!) So exciting!!! Continue to provide us with lovely photos on FB and updates on here about how it's all going!

thingy - Yay on the scan!! Doesn't sound like anything to be worried about and you're already well on your way Grin

I had the BEST 2nd tri in this pg, so much energy, getting everything ready, family holiday and really excited about it all. I'm 33 weeks now and I've kind of hit the wall, lots of aches, pains and tiredness and the horrible throwing up has kind of returned, so hello broken blood vessels in eyes and feeling queasy all the time. Groans! On the bright side have not really started worrying about labour yet tho, so def silver lining!! Hope my nesting instinct kicks in again soon like yours lol!

RedRobin1 · 24/06/2013 15:16

Aww congrats nic baby bri turned out to be a girl ThanksThanksThanksThanksThanks

Amy is a lovely name and hope you are doing well!

thingy fab news on the scan....so pleased for you :) it's so reassuring to see the heartbeat and a baby in the early weeks. Made me believe it a bit more.

Congratulations again on your lovely daughter nic enjoy your special moments as a family!

lol you are up next....how you doing? Are you on maternity leave now?

BelissimaLol · 24/06/2013 15:16

Oh you are not far behind me little! So I'm still guess hun I'm next?

Re fb group, its a secret one and as far as I know MrsBri is the only one that can add people! We may need to give her a few moments to recover - but pm her your full name and she will add you!
So my nesting obsession plan for the week is pack the hospital bag or at least get started on it. Then we have friends over at the weekend who will bring us a pram and car seat, and we also have ante natal classes. Time seems to be flying at the moment!
Good news on scan thingy. Don't worry about dates. Heartbeat is all that matters at this point. I had a scan at this very stage and all I had was a bean. Grin
Hope everyone is well. I'm knackered and still planning to stay in work as late as I can!! Is it realistic to work until 38 weeks? I do work 5 min from home so no commute to speak of, and am the boss so can take a bit of a piss if necessary leave early when I can't stay the whole day!!!

resipsa · 24/06/2013 16:17

Nic CONGRATS!!!

These births never quite go according to plan, eh?

PS

Oh and not much to update from me....apart from my lucozade test last week showed raised blood sugar levels so I'm booked in for a full GTT this Thursday - booo Sad

Apart from that doing fine at 28+5, baby appears to have discovered my ribs in the last few days - ouch!

OP posts:
BelissimaLol · 25/06/2013 09:59

Question:
Are you ladies having the whopping cough vaccine? I read on the NHS website that it is recommended that every pregnant woman takes it from 28-32 weeks and that the midwife should advise you of that!
Well mine has not said a thing to me AngryAngry
So I now called the gp and been told to get it done ASAP. Now sitting in waiting room. I'm really annoyed, how should I have known about this if they don't tell me?
Did yours tell you all?
Hope u all ok. Sorry for the rant!

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 25/06/2013 10:46

thingy great news on the scan, 7 weeks really doesn't look like much does it.

kitten your poor ribs, that sounds painful, best of luck with the GTT test

resipsa good to hear from you, hope you are doing ok. I really hope you are wrong about girls being easier, dd is having some truly spectacular tantrums at the moment. Really hoping for a chilled out boy this time.

little boo for the return if the sickness, you will probably have lost weight after giving birth with all the vomiting you've been doing.

lol definately get into your GP / midwife about the whooping cough jab. I plan to have mine.

Kittenkatzen · 25/06/2013 10:51

lol yep I'm having the jab next week - there was a leaflet about it in my Bounty pack right at the beginning, and I'm pretty sure it says that 28-32 weeks is ideal, but up to 38 weeks is fine too so I wouldn't worry too much

OP posts:
RedRobin1 · 25/06/2013 11:56

thingy my sickness never buggered off. It came back with a vengeance and now really struggling to keep food down. Off on holiday on the weekend and I just don't feel like going too far from the toilet. Going to see the midwife for some pills to help Confused just want it to go away booooooo

little you have my sympathies about the sickness returning! I am totally fed up feeling like this. Just want to be able to eat and love food again. 4 more weeks till second trimester!

lol that sucks about the lack of info from the midwife! I have been told to get the whopping cough and will also receive an MMR jab after birth (how lovely!) as I don't seem to have immunity.

LittleMissSnowShine · 25/06/2013 17:08

lol - I found out about whooping cough vaccine cos I was at my GP for something else (crazy bloodshot eyes and swollen up eyelids - glam lol) and she asked me how many weeks I was. I was probably around 25 weeks at that stage and she told me to make an appointment with nurse on my way out to get the whooping cough vaccine. I think it may have been mentioned v briefly in passing at my booking appt but not really explained to me or anything so if GP hadn't have brought it up I probably would have missed out on it too :-/ My arm was v sore afterwards, hope yours is ok!!! Re: mat leave - I'm finishing next week at 34+5. There's just no way I could keep going, I'm wrecked! I think the return of the sickness and having DS to run around after has probably played its part though, but still...can't wait to finish!!!

red - I went away overnight for my birthday in Feb and was more or less ok with sickness...til about 5 mins after i'd just eaten a huge, gorgeous hotel breakfast of pancakes, bacon, juice and coffee and had to sprint back up to the room and throw it all up. Groans! Hopefully sickness will settle for your holiday tho, not much helps but crackers and fizzy water do kind of get you through the roughest patches..

when - even tho i puked throughout with DS the super fast weight loss did not kick in for me, tho a friend of mine who was very sick as well was back in her TINY pre-preg jeans about 6 weeks after her DD was born. Not fair!!

Me and DS have been lazing at home this afternoon - bad mummy has been letting him just play on ipad and look at picture books. Tesco online shopping done and new changing bag ordered tho on the plus side Grin

BelissimaLol · 25/06/2013 17:59

Took the jab today and have a very sore arm!!!! Confused
DH wants me to complain to mw but I don't know if I can be bothered! At least it's done now and I got to meet the nurse who will do baby's jabs.
Is everyone else taking the jab? There seems to be a bit of controversy about whether or not to take it, and I could not really understand why! It was a no brainer for me.

twinklestar2 · 25/06/2013 18:46

Just caught up with this thread - congrats mrsbri!

weechops · 25/06/2013 22:36

Well done mrsbri :) gorgeous photos and fab weight!

Hi to everyone. I'm on phone and its not letting me read back for some reason hmm.

I'm 16+2 eek and have my appointment on Thursday so hopefully get to hear the heartbeat for the first time :) then my ds 3rd birthday party on Saturday then off on holidays on Sunday. Dh gets home Thursday night after 3 weeks away and I can't bloody wait- I'm knackered!

MrsBri · 26/06/2013 16:01

Hello everyone :-)

The hospital had god awful reception so I need to catch up now we've been allowed to go home.

The most surreal feeling in the world ever is taking your first child home with you.
