Thought I may as well start this given I'll be around for another (hopefully) 14ish weeks :) Hope I've not crossed posts with anyone!

OP posts:

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 21/06/2013 11:29

Ooh yes don't forget lip balm. Gas and air is pretty drying on the lips.

Do you feel any different Nic, I got loads of energy just before giving birth.

MrsBri · 21/06/2013 11:37

I feel rather weird / wiped out rather than full of energy! I've been OK up til now. I'm not sure if that means anything.

I really hope baby comes soon as I can't wait to meet them and DH is SO bloody excited. He's so sweet, bless him!

BelissimaLol · 21/06/2013 12:39

Came in to have a rant moment. My boss appointed someone to cover me who I know my team will hate. She never even asked my opinion. Now I have to deliver them the news. I'm so upset its unreal Confused

Alexandra6 · 21/06/2013 13:24

nic thanks for the list, although seeing all the practical stuff there has made it all seem very real to me! So exciting for you that it's so close! My mum sent me a text saying she's bought her first baby present and can't wait to be a 'nana', so sweet - again makes it all feel very exciting and real, can't believe I'm actually going to give birth and have a baby! You can tell I'm a first timer Wink

belissima how frustrating! Although on the positive side, at least they'll be glad to have you back I guess?

LittleMissSnowShine · 21/06/2013 14:07

mrsbri - Make sure you have isotonic sports drinks (stop u getting dehydrated and giv u a bit of extra energy!) and a bag of haribo! Also - if you haven't already gone into labour by now lol - get your DH to pick up a present for the midwives to just keep in the boot of the car - tin of sweets or biscuits. You will (hopefully) literally never be more grateful to anyone in your whole life but a present might go completely out of your mind once the baby has arrived! Hope things kick off for you soon, v exciting!!!

lol - Hmm My boss in her wisdom has decided not to replace me while I'm gone but basically split my workload among all my colleagues. It's maybe not the best decision since they will resent the extra work, it probably won't get done and I will have a big mess to clear up when I come back, and it's also unneccessary since my post is funded by a govt body so they would pay for cover for me but there is a loophole that means my post can be filled internally so the organisation will just keep the cash. It's kind of frustrating knowing things will go down the tubes in your absence but since the decisions are usually out of our hands all you can do is shrug (and sigh..and rant!!)

Had my 33 week check up today. All looking good, baby is head down and not back to back this time round, good heartrate, my blood pressure is nice and normal but baby looks like it will be another big un, up on the top centile. Not exactly a shocker after DS was 8lb8oz and 57cm long but I suppose I was hoping for an easier time with the pushing this time round. But I can forget that! Still...despite not particularly looking forward to the birth, v excited to meet new arrival, August can't come soon enough Grin Also our 4th wedding anniversary today!

Thingymajigs · 21/06/2013 14:56

Happy anniversary little. Glad everything is looking ok for you.
Try not to worry too much lol. Although annoying its probably out of your hands and is only temporary. Focus on all of that lovely maternity leave. Smile
I'm so glad the weekend is here. Felt like I'd been beaten up yesterday with exhaustion and very sore boobs. I might just sleep all weekend. I'm sure my family can fend for themselves.

MrsBri · 21/06/2013 15:06

Happy anniversary Littlemiss. :-)

We have 4 bottles of still Lucozade Sport, 4 bottles of water and 6 cartons of apple Capri Sun. This is why my bag is so full!

Lol, try not to worry too much. I know you feel a responsibility, but you need to focus on baby and let work get on with itself.

Littlemiss, I haven't been replaced either. My manager is also pregnant and is also on mat leave, due 2 weeks behind me. With that in mind we ran the file count down with closures / transfers to other teams in the last couple of months. Someone who's just back from mat leave has taken over the remaining files and everyone on the team will mostly still be doing what they did before, with a few extra tasks that I used to do.

It's likely I won't go back to that team anyway, as I need to work somewhere else in the firm to make sure my training contract is acceptable to the professional body, and I don't want to do road traffic accident claims anyway, which I was doing. I don't care if the rest of them feel put upon as the majority as lazy anyway! :-)

I feel very strange this afternoon, but haven't quite managed to be sick. Think it would help if I was though. Hmmm!

Everybody send exit vibes to Baby B please!

Thingymajigs · 21/06/2013 15:06

Can I just say that I am loving this pregnancy. I keep on getting silly grins when I realise there will be another member of our family soon.
It must just seem like I moan about being pregnant looking at this thread but the exhaustion is just a comforting reminder that I am finally having another baby. Smile
Ok, now I'll go back to worrying about the scan.

Thingymajigs · 21/06/2013 15:07

Hurry up baby B! I bet the heat must be tiring for you atm.

MrsBri · 21/06/2013 16:35

Thingy, I'm sure your scan will be fine. When is it again? Good luck :-)

To he honest I'm staying indoors as much as possible. I can't really walk far without aches and pains, so only go out if DH takes me!

It does look lovely through the window though :-) And feels nice if I hang the washing out. But I don't hang about!

RedRobin1 · 21/06/2013 17:08

Come on baby bri get your cute little tushie moving and come out of your cosy place!!

yhingy don't worry about moaning on this thread - I embarrassingly did just that for the first 9 weeks! It's just we are so used to being active and pregnancy makes you feel like you have ran a marathon every day of the first few weeks. It will pass :) I am proof of that. I am feeling less tired now and more happy and finally being able to enjoy some food :)

BelissimaLol · 21/06/2013 17:39

Yeah I will try not to worry. I'm upset she didn't even ask what I thought- and we are really good friends supposedly! Hey ho.
I will take lucozade too as well as water. And I have balm on my list which I can't find at the moment due to the mess in my house planning to pack it next week.
Good luck with upcoming scans. That is nerve racking! But try and relax Grin
Mrs this baby needs to come out ASAP. I'm already uncomfortable so can't imagine how u must be feeling!

kittykatsforever · 21/06/2013 18:43

Mrs bri just how hydrated are you planning on staying in hospital lol, I think I had one lucosade which I had on the way and made me sick first time then had water and tea just supplied at the hospital, this time again I took nothing but dh got me a first cold from a machine at one point Wink, don't know if your hospital is different but at mine you don't wear your own clothes to give birth either they put me in a gown both times so I've just had one pair of pjs for later

MrsBri · 21/06/2013 19:15

Well, it could take ages! And it's for both of us :-)

We have been told to take something to give birth in if we want to wear something. I'll probably end up taking if off it it's too hot. Though I may be having a water birth anyway. We shall see how it goes!

kittykatsforever · 21/06/2013 19:28

True although if its anything like my hospital and your not crowning the dam baby you'll be sent home to wait to suffer
I found the only thing you won't want to forget is a charger/ money and baby stuff and maternity pads although they even supplied those at mine, even breast pads are redundant Untill your milk comes in 3/5 days later, still good to be prepared for all eventualities Grin

MrsBri · 21/06/2013 20:16

Yeah, I don't think they want us there too early. But as we are 25 minutes away minimum (I've known it take 2 hours on a bad day) I'll be buggered if they're going to send me away! We can ask to stay if the pain is too much, so that will be my ploy to stay, ha ha :-)

I think it's best to have absorbent stuff as trusting DH to bring the right thing would probably be a mistake!

Thingymajigs · 21/06/2013 20:43

I travelled for 25 mins to get to the midwifery unit with ds2 only to be turned away as I was "too early". As soon as I got home we had to go back again. Confused Car journeys during labour feels a bit like being on a roller coaster. I'd definitely stick to your guns and try to stay. The midwife there told me that I wasn't in full labour as I was smiling and talking. She may have had a point.
Scan isn't until Monday morning when I'll be but I've read at least 50 stories of women having missed miscarriages this week so I'm pretty scared.
Glad you're feeling better red. Smile

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 21/06/2013 22:48

mrsbri my tactic for not getting sent away worked like a charm. As soon as they let me into my own room (it was a birthing room) I stripped off down to my underwear.
Cars and labour are not a good combination in my opinion, the 20 minute car journey was agony and there was no way I was getting back in that car.

Sorry so many are panicking about mat leave cover. I am in a similar position. Most likely not getting any cover so will be left with a load of crap to deal with on my return.

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 21/06/2013 22:49

Oh thingy I forgot to wish you luck with your scan. Grin

Thingymajigs · 22/06/2013 07:02

Ha, I was so tired I missed a bit of the sentence. Meant to say I'll be 7+3. Thank you when. Smile

MrsBri · 22/06/2013 07:35

I like that, When! I'm naked, so I have to stay :-)

MrsBri · 22/06/2013 11:06

Ooh, When, guess what? Surge of energy here today! I'm only being limited because of my bulk, not my enthusiasm. :-)

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 22/06/2013 16:42

Ooh surge of energy sounds promising.

My pregnant friend (33 weeks) is still pregnant which is great news, plus the steroids should have improved his lungs no end so even if he suddenly turns up he should do well.

BelissimaLol · 23/06/2013 15:38

Nic come here and talk to us!!!!!!! I don't want to steal your thunder!!!!!!

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 23/06/2013 16:40

Lol at lol
