Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MrsBri · 18/07/2013 23:24

Lol, Amy lost weight after birth, but then put 2oz back on. The next weigh in she'd lost 3.5oz and I was feeding her ALL the time, I felt like a prisoner in my own home and was utterly exhausted as she was feeding almost all night.

I think it's quite common to struggle with big babies and I wasn't prepared to go through continual weight loss and the stress it brings.

Amy and I are both MUCH happier now we aren't tied to the house and she's putting on weight. I struggled with my emotions while breast feeding and feel far more stable now, thank god.

weechops · 19/07/2013 08:30

I'm getting excited and nervous now - 20 week scan at 11.50 today!

kittykatsforever · 19/07/2013 10:08

Good luck wee, I'm sure you'll be fine, how exciting!

MrsBri · 19/07/2013 11:30

Exciting wee! Can't wait for you to report back :-)

RedRobin1 · 19/07/2013 13:14

Good luck wee let us know how it goes.... very excited for you

weechops · 19/07/2013 14:16

We are having a BOY!!! :) wow I really thought it was a girl, but I thought that with ds and he was definitely a boy too :) ooh so excited and happy!

MrsBri · 19/07/2013 14:51

Congratulations! :-)

The opposite to me then...shows how much we know though, ha ha!

Are you going to go shopping now?

weechops · 19/07/2013 15:17

Oh for sure mrsbri :) I still have all the big stuff like cot, bouncers, pram etc so will be doing lots of clothes shopping :) that's my plan for tomorrow morning.

kittykatsforever · 19/07/2013 15:38

Congrats wee, I thought it looked like a little boy nub on your scan photo but couldn't be sure, enjoy shopping x

Thingymajigs · 19/07/2013 15:39

Aww so glad the scan went well. Having two boys is wonderful but I might be slightly biased. My two are much older and are playing together happily right now. I love being able to say "my boys".
Have fun shopping. Smile

RedRobin1 · 19/07/2013 16:43

Congratulations wee how lovely! Boys are wonderful! So happy for you the scan went well.

Kittenkatzen · 19/07/2013 18:09

Lovely news wee, congrats! Smile

Hi everyone, I know I have been rubbish at keeping a hand in but I do skim read the thread occasionally.

I wanted to say congrats to bri on the birth of Amy. Gorgeous name for a gorgeous girl, you must be very happy!

wee .. Boys rock they really do. Totally agree with littlemis on the differences with boys and girls. Steve Biddulph's books are written taking those differences into account and he is very, very kind about boys. I get a bit disheartened at the whole good girl, naughty boy identities. It is far more complex than that and mainly linked, very loosely, to energy levels I think. Anyway, congrats on the scan and the baby boy you will soon be meeting.

Without wanting to look like a stalker, winkle mentioned ages ago she posts on an ivf thread about eggs so I went looking yesterday. I really warmed to winkle (waves if you are lurking here my dear!) and wanted to know how she got on. Anyway, she is currently in the 2ww after ivf. I am as nervous for her as I was for me I think!

As for all the rest of you, god help you in this heat. I am really thinking of the pregnant ladies of the country right now(apart from duchess of Cambridge, I'll bet my life she isn't allowed to suffer right now!!).

Bruce is now 4 months old. Sat here bottle feeding while MNing at same time. He's still so good and makes my life so easy, I bless him every day for his chilled out temperament. Ds1 at Beavers with DH and ds2 watching Shaun the Sheep. A rare moment of peace yay!!

tedmundo · 19/07/2013 19:03

Durrr .. Just read the last few pages and you know about winkle!! There was me, thinking I had my finger on the pulse ;)

lol .. I didn't realise you are o close to EDD. Good luck!

MrsBri · 19/07/2013 19:23

Hi ted :-) Thank you, and yes, very happy.

I'm glad Bruce makes your life easy. Amy seems to be relaxed and easy going too. It's nice, isn't it?

We are staying in during the day until the heat subsides. Evening trips out only! It is far too hot for little babies. And not so great for me either!

LittleMissSnowShine · 19/07/2013 19:28

fatas - hope you're having fun in Belfast! So hot! We can't cope - the roads around town are literally melting lol

nic - lovely to hear from you and so glad Amy is doing well :) DS was a big hungry chunk and I was in quite a mess after delivery but I persisted with bf and initially it completely did me in. Of course it eventually got easier but if I had to make choice again I'd prob reach for the formula, esp since I'll have 2 to look after this time. Most important thing is that you're both doing well and loving it all!!

winkle - if you're lurking wishing you all the best fertility vibes in your 2ww...good luck!!!

ted - 4 months! Wow! Time is flying!! Hope you are really enjoying little Bruce :)

wee - yay another addition to Team Blue!!! Congrats, so glad scan went well xx

lol - I am slouching round the house with fans in wearing loose tie dyed old clothes from holidays gone by - air con or not, I think you are a real trooper for sticking it out in work!

37 weeks today Grin Baby's growth has levelled off which is a bit of a relief cos he looked like he was going to go off the chart but now mw thinks he should be a similar (hefty) size to DS. He's also still head down and 4/5 engaged so theoretically could be any time now.

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 19/07/2013 21:42

little 4/5ths engaged Shock I don't think my dd was that engaged when I went into labour. Sounds like we have a race to the finish between you and lol

mrsbri and ted glad you have chilled out little ones. You're both really blessed.

wee so glad your scan went well, Grin for another boy, I could have sworn mine was a girl too.

Am lying in bed watching tv with a cold wet flannel on my bump, I think lol suggested it. It feels great and the baby is thumping around like mad in there. I am hating the heat but I think I would rather suffer in pregnancy than worry about a newborn, I am normally quite chilled out with babies but the heat worries me. I'm panicking over dd in the heat.

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 19/07/2013 21:43

Ooh I forgot to say best of luck to winkle I'm really rooting for you, fingers are massively crossed.

LittleMissSnowShine · 19/07/2013 22:31

when - Not sure abiut your DD but DS hates the heat, he loves sunshine but anything above 20 degrees with no breeze annoys him so he'll only play outside if he's with other kids or down at the beach. Rest of the time he stands in front of the fan shouting LOVELY and drinking juice indoors!! it makes him tired too but also a bit fed up. His hatred of the outdoors is Perfect for me tho cos I am hating this heat wave now too, can't walk more than a few feet without being covered in sweat and if I had the time I'd really need to be showering 3 times a day to stay cool!! Hope that flannel does you some good :)

RedRobin1 · 19/07/2013 23:18

Oooo little and lol I am so excited for you both. Fingers crossed you don't have log to wait.

I am with when about suffering the heat in pregnancy rather than newborn phase. I don't know if I could physically cope with lack of sleep and looking after a newborn in this heat. It's just getting a tad too much! Really praying it rains just for a few days to cool down. I am 15w but my skin feels on fire at night.

ted so good to hear from you and nice you got a relaxed evening with ds1 and 2! Bruce sounds lovely and chilled out. Very lucky.

mrsbri if it helps, I feel the same about BF. I will try my best but won't beat myself up if I have to reach for the formula. Rather have some sanity left than try and do something that makes me miserable and leaves me unhappy.

Off to bed - night night!

twinklestar2 · 20/07/2013 07:28

Thx everyone for best wishes and fx, etc! Hope to be joining you all soon x

BelissimaLol · 20/07/2013 08:53

Hi twins. Looks like there's a few of us stalking you GrinGrin
Your place is saved over here. Right next to me!
I called it first girls Wink

Thingymajigs · 20/07/2013 10:28

Can't wait for you to join us twinkle. Hopefully it won't be long now.

LittleMissSnowShine · 20/07/2013 11:50

winkle - yes, waiting for you to join us too!! I'll try and keep my legs crossed til you get on the bus with us Grin

red - also praying for rain!!

Woke up during the night sure that something was happening - needed to go for a wee and baby's head was so low I felt like he was about to follow and then started getting real pains down below that I really had to breathe through. All eased off after about ten mins tho - guess it was just BH or something maybe. Took DS for a walk round the park this morning while DH was doing a 5k run, walking, bouncing on ball and acupressure points everyday from here on in!!!

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 22/07/2013 00:41

Have a poorly sick dd. She was fine all day today. Went to bed with no issue.

Woke up at 11pm crying and vomiting all over her bed. She's still throwing up now but it is just bile. Sad
