red v glad the sickness is easing off - hope that's it for you now

when sounds like a bit of a logistical nightmare - you don't want to be pulling your sample out of your handbag at the wrong point today!

Love the idea of training the child to do housework as a game...will have to make a note of that one! Grin

ION only 3 weeks left at work for me - woohoo!! Wish I could start to go into wind down mode, but our HR dept are being ridiculously lax about sorting out my cover and have only started first round interviews this week....as my boss on holiday for my last week in the office (I'm a PA) we need someone to start a week Monday Shock. No idea what they're thinking leaving it this late but somehow I can't quite seem to work up the energy to care all that much...!

when hope the diarrhoea (can't spell!) has gotten better, yep you don't want to be handing out the wrong samples from your handbag Grin

littlemiss I am making mental notes - those are some good tips and from what I have seen with kids in the family - the boy/girl character traits are so true.

yep sickness is fading but I will keep a back up stock of the meds incase the pukeathon starts again. I can't wait for the pregnancy to go slightly quicker. Time really goes slow in the early trimesters.

mrsbri how's little Amy doing? hope you are keeping well.

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 17/07/2013 15:28

kitten red thanks the logistical nightmare is over. Managed to get the samples dropped off without any embarrassment.

little thanks for the tips re toys, she has an obsession with water at the moment. I've been letting her wander around the garden with a dripping hose, that seems to keep her entertained quite well.
The constantly feeding thing applied to dd, she would feed 20 times a day till she was 4 months old.

kitty my dd is a crisp sleeper, don't know where she gets it from as dh and I love our sleep. I've been hoping a son would be easier feeding/entertaining/sleep wise.

My cousins little boy is an angel, feeds loads but is bottle fed so she doesn't have to worry about milk supply. Sleeps amazingly well and for entertainment is quite happy laughing at the patterns on the ceiling. I want one like that.

LittleMissSnowShine · 17/07/2013 16:03

I am too hot for all of this! Had DS over on ither side of town for a hearing check up and aside from that i've done nothing but get myself and DS dressed, empty dishwasher and take washing in but feel like i've run 3 marathons! Collapsed in heap watching DS also play with hose and generally flood the garden Wink

Lower back aching but alas think just a general ache rather than start of labour boo! My mum & lovely aunties have booked me in for a massage & pedicure in a day spa near us tomorrow while thry look after DS for a couple of hours. Bliss, cant wait!

Hope everyone else is doing ok in the heat x

kittykatsforever · 17/07/2013 16:16

I want one like that too lol Grin

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 17/07/2013 16:54

kitty if only you could order an easy baby. I'll take whatever I'm given and be grateful (remind me of this when I'm virtually insane with sleep deprivation).

little garden hoses are truely wonderous things, we're screwed if there's a hosepipe ban.

RedRobin1 · 17/07/2013 18:00

I'll join in wanting a child like that too Grin I wonder sometimes what it will be like - ME! As a parent! Feels so unreal still.

All that talk about hose pipe makes me want to have a water fight and get soaked in cold cold cold water. This heat is making me so tired and I am supposed to be having more energy in the second trimester. Did anyone feel tired at 15w?

LittleMissSnowShine · 17/07/2013 19:29

red - you are just getting over being really ill for a few weeks so it could be that your body is trying to just build itself up again or could be that the meds you are taking have drowsiness as a side effect. Or could just be this bloody heat!! Hope you feel better soon xx

when - i'm in Belfast, usually (though not the last fortnight) one of the rainiest places one could ever hope to be so i'll be Shock if there's a hose pipe ban here lol But I agree, hoses = best ever!

kitty - a mail order easy baby! I like it! Most babies seem to be good at some things and horrors at others though - good sleepers = bad feeders, good feeders = loud screamers etc. Luck of the draw! And sure we all have MN to keep us sane through first noisy, sleep deprived weeks Grin

kittykatsforever · 17/07/2013 19:53

Ahh I wouldn't change dd2 she's delicious and actually much easier then dd1 I put her down at 7 and she goes to sleep just like that, dd1 had colic so we never had an evening or dinner for about 3 months! Crying and screaming very common place, so I'm counting my lucky stars, still a toddler and baby are hard work, ill be glad of your tips when you join me Grin

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 17/07/2013 20:02

little I'm on the northwest coast, officially 2nd most rainy place ever Smile I think we get whatever rain didn't land on you guys. We hardly ever get a hosepipe ban either. Though it might be on the cards with this weather.

red your poor body has been through a lot. It's probably a combination of that and the heat.

kitty sympathies for the colic. My dd had it too, it sucks. The only thing that kept her quiet was the Hoover. We had a really clean living room for about 2 months Grin

fatasbutter · 17/07/2013 20:10

Hello all! Just checking in. Not fully joining again til a 12 weeks scan but just wanted to say glad all going well for everyone! Not feeling too bad here (=worryig of course!!)

And littlemiss I'm just waiting to fly to Belfast! Not rainy right now by the looks of things!!

Am 9+1 and counting... Blush

BelissimaLol · 18/07/2013 06:55

I'm just checking in too!
Hi fatas. Totally understand keeping to the sideline until scan. When is that?
I have two days left at work. Feeling very emotional!

MrsBri · 18/07/2013 07:34

Hi all...realised I'd dropped off the radar a bit. My hands are quite full with Amy at the moment!

She is doing great. We took the decision to stop breast feeding at 2 weeks as after a tiny initial gain she lost weight at that weigh in despite everything looking like she should gain. But apparently it can be hard with a big baby to get them to gain. The good news is that since swapping over she has put on loads of weight and is now 10lb 1oz (or was on Tuesday!) so well over birth weight, and we've now been discharged from the midwife. :-)

She is a total delight, and even if she's cried / screamed she's not too hard to settle. And she now sleeps in her Moses basket during the day too, as well as in the bed nest at night. It's great!

I'm not sure if I felt tired at 16 weeks. I don't recall suffering from tiredness like other people do / did. But my default setting after work is tired, so I think I just built it into my life and carried on as normal! I'm sure once your body has recovered from the sickness you'll feel better.

When, I hope your diarrhoea buggers off soon too.

Kitten, I'm sorry about your dad. I'm glad they caught it early and it's good the Consultant is positive too. I hope you're all OK. xx

Littlemiss, I saw that NI had had its hottest day ever recorded the other day. I hope you're not suffering in this heat. I'm so glad I wasn't due a bit later!

Lol, only 2 days to go at work. Yay!!

Oh, pre-pregnancy I always slept naked. While pregnant I needed something to contain my boobs and post-pregnancy I'm still wearing a maternity pad (grim, I detest it) and containing my boobs. I can't wait to be able to sleep naked again!

Hi to resipsa too. I hope you're OK. How is your mum doing now? And how are you?

Hope I've not missed anyone.

MrsBri · 18/07/2013 07:48

Bugger, I missed Fatas :-/ Apologies.

Hope you're feeling well. We will have to arrange that meet up once the heat has subsided. I don't fancy Merseyrail in this heat!

RedRobin1 · 18/07/2013 10:24

Hello nic so good to hear from you...glad you are keeping well and fab news on the weight gain for Amy. Good to know shes sleeping well in the day and night. A lot of my friends babies (3-6 months old) are struggling to sleep at night in this heat.

I am hoping the tiredness eases off, but nothing feels as good as no nausea and no pukeathons for 4 days, without meds. I feel so happy and ecstatic (touchwood!)

I have some pulling aches and tightness near abdomen while sleeping at night. Could my uterus be moving upwards? or is that baby movement? I doubt its baby moving as the aches are quite uncomfortable. alex when did you feel your first flutters?

fatas so good to hear from you...totally understand you being cautious till 12w. When is the scan? Hope you are keeping well love.

MrsBri · 18/07/2013 11:17

It's not quite so hot here, red, so the bedroom is 'only' 22 degrees at night, so bearable.

And your ache sounds like round ligament pain. Or your body stretching to accommodate baby. Totally normal. :-)

Thingymajigs · 18/07/2013 12:58

Don't worry fatas, I'm lacking in symptoms too. Apart from getting a bit fat. I'm back to watching what I eat now. The time to the scan seems to be going to slowly doesn't it? Mine isn't until the 31st. Have you had your scan date through?
Yay for the settled stomach red. That must be a huge relief. It does sound like stretching to me too. Although, tbh I can't remember much about my other pregnancies in the first two trimesters.
10+6

Kittenkatzen · 18/07/2013 19:29

red I think I was tired up until about 16 weeks or so. I felt first flutters the day after my 16wk appt. Very sporadic at first though, and could only feel them if sat down, not standing. On the aches I think that could be round ligament pains - I started getting them around that point I think. Like a dull ache, almost period painy but not quite the same?

fatas - 9wks...it's ticking along nicely for you too then (although I'm sure it doesn't feel that way from where you are!) hope you're doing ok

lol am Envy of your 2 days left at work...16 days for me and feels like an eternity!

mrsbri lovely to hear your news and thanks for the good wishes about my dad. Amy sounds like she's doing brilliantly!

Kittenkatzen · 18/07/2013 19:30

Oh, just saw mrsb already said that about the pains, sorry!

Fatas these first weeks take forever don't they?! When is your scan? Exciting for you and thingy!
Well tomorrow is supposed to be my last day but I've decided to stay another week. I figured I'm feeling fine and stay at home will only make me anxious. Plus I work with friends and will prob need one of them to take me to hospital if my waters break as DH works almost 2 hours away. And the more time at work now the more time I will have with baby.
Maybe I'm being silly but I'm happy I've made this decision.
Nic can I ask you a question re bf? Did u discuss weight loss with mw or hv? I was told this is normal in first week or two and nothing to worry about? Were you having any difficulties as well?

kittykatsforever · 18/07/2013 20:14

Lol you are a trouper, can't believe your staying at work in this weather, I'd be at home in the garden sipping cool drinks while I had the chance lol, still your reasons sound well thought out and if you feel fine, why not!i had 10 days at home before baby arrived but I felt I had so much to do the cleaning took on a whole new level lol
Fatas I remember that first draging tri but it does sound positive, we can't wait for your 12wk scan!
Red I think alot of symptoms ease after 16wks from what I hear off all friends that seems to be the magic number for most!
Does anyone know how winkle is getting on? The old thread seems to have died now Hmm

kittykatsforever · 18/07/2013 20:16

Oh and red I first felt movement wk19 with dd1 but dh could feel it and see it by wk 20 and 15 with dd2, like kitten said very sporadic maybe one day then not for 3 the best way I think is to lie on your tummy

fatasbutter · 18/07/2013 20:20

Thanks all - no scan date yet! It's agony! Booking in next thrs so should find out then when scan is...

Glad you are feeling better red! Now fx for a few weeks of feeling quite good and then beached whale syndrome kicks in!! GrinGrin Wink

Glad to hear Amy is gaining weight Nic - they really get you worried about that until the numbers go up don't they?! I think sometimes they can be a bit obsessed with it all..Blush But as long as you are bothConfused doing well!!

And thingy, I have got the odd bit of nausea but I am sooo fat!! (Living up to my name! Wink) I can't imagine making it to 12/13 weeks without someone saying something!! Most people I see regularly know I've had 2 mmcs in the last year or so and prob wouldn't dare say anything tho!!

BelissimaLol · 18/07/2013 20:31

That's the thing kitty. If I stay at home I know I'll end up on amazon or eBay the whole time buying things I don't need on top of all the baby stuff I already bought and I have a very cool office too so work will be nicer than home!!!
Fatas I was the same. Think I put on most of my pregnancy weight in the first few weeks. Even wished for a bit of ms to stop eating.
Think winkle is going through ivf now. The old thread has died the death- think she's on a ivf type one. I really hope it happens for her and she can join us soon!

RedRobin1 · 18/07/2013 21:06

lol Aircon in office sounds like music to my ears! Hope you have a good last week.

fatas it really goes slow at the beginning but things seem to go quicker after 12w! Not much more to wait! Hang in there.

Yes winkles going through ivf this month and she's in her 2ww....Fingers and toes crossed for her.
