We were lucky to be given a bugaboo chameleon (I think) from our close friends! It has the carry cot as well as the chair for when she's older. And it also attaches the car seat which is great. It has front and rear facing too. I know they are massively expensive though and not sure if I would have invested the money on it, but am willing to give it a try for free Grin
My friend loves it and said its the best thing she had. Lets see!
Yeah def go for cold towel. I almost want one now!!!!

kittykatsforever · 14/07/2013 16:42

When I think I would if its persisted for 7 says, make sure you stay well hydrated, I bet a cold towel would be nice on swollen ankles although have to admit I'm a sun worshiper so love it! I am not carrying around another person though
I have the icandy peach, I love it, looks good, really easy to manoeuvre front and real facing plus the car seat etc etc, what really swayed it for me though was I knew I wanted another child and close in age and it can be adapted into a two so you buy it as a single but if you need to add to it there is an adapter you buy and another seat and it becomes a twin buggy with whatever mix you want, carrycot and chair, car seat and chair, 2 chairs etc etc plus it stays a single width, I hate wide double buggys so think about your needs when buying aswell,

LittleMissSnowShine · 15/07/2013 07:34

lol - Awww it's all happening now!! I have just a bit more cleaning to do and then like you...all ready Grin V hard to keep house nice with toddler running round wrecking it but at least nursery is pristine!

red - when we were in Greece with DS in 2011 everyone seemed to have a Stokke! they look v cool :) We started off with a Maclaren XLR which I loved cos it was so handy for getting in nd out of the v narrow hall of house we lived in then, in nd out of shops, on and off bus etc. Have Britax B Dual now tho and also really like it, suspect I'm just easy pleased tho! Hope your initial pushchair hunt went well

Not so hot today ladies! Have had lovely long weekend with DH off to help out with DS and have done loads of fun stuff, jobs round the house & napped a bit! friends having a bday party for their 2 yo DD later so may make an appearance at that tho all of a sudden bump is huge and no clothes fit so tempted to just lie on sofa covered in old towels!!

Kittenkatzen · 15/07/2013 07:47

Morning, hope everyone's had a lovely weekend?. Bit of a mixed one for me unfortunately - we did a baby first aid course and went to see the mw led birthing unit, both of which were fab (and the birthing unit are happy to take me if all stays well, yay). But I also found out that my dad has cancer SadSad. Everyone's known for a while it seems but hadn't want to worry me...but he'll be having an op at some point before the baby comes so decided it was time I knew. Apparently the consultant is confident that its been caught early which is good, but obviously I can't switch off the worrying.

Onto cheerier things....lol sounds like you've got a lovely last week planned, hope you enjoy it all!

red I loved loved loved the Stokke Xplory but our budget couldn't stretch sadly...we've gone for the mamas & papas Mylo instead (in lime green Grin)

when sorry you're feeling poorly, must be horrible in this heat. If its been 7 days I'd say it's definitely worth a trip to the docs. Hope you're staying hydrated.

Oh kitten ThanksThanksThanksThanks how worrying for you, I hope everything goes well

Thingymajigs · 15/07/2013 08:30

oh kitten, that must be so worrying. I hope everything goes well. The consultant sounds positive so I hope that offers a bit of comfort. Thanks

Thingymajigs · 15/07/2013 08:34

little I like the Britax range as well. especially the b-smart and b-agile. There's so much choice though its bewildering. I hope to get one second hand quite easily as I work in a second hand baby shop and DP has lots of friends who had babies a year ago.

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 15/07/2013 08:56

kitten Thanks your poor dad. Hope the consultant is right about catching it early.

Off to the doctors this morning, not really sure what they are going to do for me but at least I'll get checked out.

BelissimaLol · 15/07/2013 11:14

Oh kitten. I'm praying for your dad. If they caught early its positive!
Have 38 week check with my crap mw today. Feel so hot! Slept naked and must have looked like a beached whale! Confused

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 15/07/2013 14:21

I'm sure you looked fine lol in this heat, who cares anyway.

My cousin just asked me to be godparent to her little boy. The christening is on 27th Oct. My due date is 27th Oct Grin. You only have a 5% chance of giving birth on your due date so I think I'll be fine.

RedRobin1 · 15/07/2013 15:37

oh no kitten such worrying news about your dad. I found out my mum had cancer earlier this year and know how heart breaking such news is. But like your dad she too was early stage so is recovering well post op now and her reports have come back clear. Fingers crossed, all will be well with your dad in the end. It's good to have caught it early Flowers

lol haha i am imagining a naked pregnant lady in my head, I am sure you looked fine.

when ooooo its on your due date. will keep my fx for you to be a day late! or else you'll be rushing through the ceremony Grin we have my nephew's first birthday party on my due date... so I guess I'll be hoping to give birth a day later and not in front of an audience!!

PS. cold showers are sooooo refreshing in this heat. I just went out for a quick 5min walk to the shops and now feeling nauseous. This weather has got to change.... Please let it be a tad cooler!!!

Thanks girls for your pushchair choices..we are def going to check out the Britax and Uppababy ones. You are right....there's just so much choice. I think the decider will be what fits in my car boot and what's easier for me to fold and lift into the boot. I have zero upper body strength Blush and a bad back so can't be doing with heavy lifting.

BelissimaLol · 15/07/2013 18:37

And the sexy images will continue!
Baby is back to back so I was told by mw today that I should spend time on all fours with birth ball for support to see if she turns. Called DH to let him know and all he said was "wow. Sexy. "Grin

Kittenkatzen · 15/07/2013 18:45

Famous last words when! Grin

lol loving the mental image of you draped over a birthing ball for the whole evening! Fx the little madam turns for you.

Oh and you're not alone in stripping off to sleep - I've been sleeping in just pants and a sleep bra for weeks now...would take them off too if I could but our cats tend to get up on the be in the night too and it freaks me out slightly!

Thanks for all the kind messages about my dad, appreciate the support Thanks. Trying to focus on the positives of catching it early for now.

Hi everyone we are back home finally :) Had a fantastic holiday, and even got a bit of a tan for a change :)

kitten you must be so worried about your dad. Definitely a positive thing that it was caught early though.

We have my 20 week scan to go to on Friday. So excited to see the bean again, and hopefully find out boy or girl :)

RedRobin1 · 15/07/2013 19:45

Teeeheeehee lol get down on your fours you saucy minx! I don't know why I am laughing because this will be me in 5months time! Eeek

RedRobin1 · 15/07/2013 19:46

Welcome back wee and good luck for your 20w scan on Friday x

kittykatsforever · 15/07/2013 20:41

Oh a sexing scan, exciting!!!
An I the only one who always sleeps naked?! Apart from knicks ofcourse, because that would be wrong! I walk about like that all the time I'm sure dozens of the neighbours have seen meBlush

LittleMissSnowShine · 15/07/2013 20:47

kitten - oh so sorry to hear about your dad :( I'm sure if the consultant is being positive about it being caught early that all will be well, but v stressful for you all right now. Hopefully his new grandchild arriving will keep your dad's mind off things as well

wee - glad you had a lovely holiday!

thingy (& red) - fx for you! I think Maclaren and Britax are just two good, reliable, well tested ranges that have been around for so long and are so widely used that you can't go far wrong with them, tho other brands will have much fancier add on features. But if what you want is safe, reliable, durable and within budget those two are the ones that get my money!

lol - I used birth ball loads with DS to get him to move from breech into transverse and finally the right way round tho of course he stayed back to back!! Trying to use it again this time but DS's fav hobby is to shout LAUNCH and roll it at me, DH or innocent bystanders like a boulder! I'm wearing staniy leopard print maternity leggings over my HUGE bump today and i've been sleeping in just a vest and undies for last couple of weeks. I'm not even going to lie to myself that there is any way this can be construed as sexy!!

A woman stopped me in Tesco to ask how far overdue I was lol Still 3.5 flipping weeks to go til EDD. I am massive but bump is really low now so I look pretty crazy Grin Tesco online deliveries only now!!

RedRobin1 · 16/07/2013 09:48

eeeek little only 3.5 weeks! how exciting... I am envious of all of you in the last trimesters as it starts to feel so close to meeting your little ones.

My sickness has calmed down and I am thinking I might finally get to enjoy this pregnancy that I have waited for almost a year.

Other mindless chit chat - I dreamt last night that I gave birth to the cutest little baby boy and my sister was cutting the umbilical cord. How bizarre!

Also I have been sleeping in DH's cotton boxers - so comfy and just a slutty vest top - bought some loungers from homebase yesterday and it was so good to sit in the garden and enjoy the breeze.

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 16/07/2013 10:24

red glad the sickness is getting better, I want to be further along too, can't wait to get this pregnancy over with.

wee sounds like a great holiday, so exciting to have another scan, fx he or she behaves well for it (mine was in completely the wrong position and it took ages).

I still have diarrhoea and have to drop off samples of poo for three days in a row. Major pain in the arse, I work from home but go out visiting customers, so this is kind of doable and I can still work and drop the samples off. Am out with the boss tomorrow though which I am really not looking forward to.

LittleMissSnowShine · 16/07/2013 10:36

red - so glad you are starting to feel better! Take it easy and keep a back up supply of anti nausea meds tho cos severe early pg sickness can come and go, even months after I was feeling better this time round and with DS I could over do it or get overheated and then pukeapalooza!! As long as your prepared for the occasional relapse tho it's not so bad. Hope you get to have a fab second tri now :) Jealous of your new loungers!

when - so sorry you are still suffering and at work too! Hope it clears up soon and won't be anything too serious. hope you can keep your fluids up in the heat

So glad to be off work, I thought I was beginning to hit the wall a couple of weeks ago but this weekend I really did hit the exhaustion stage on Sun night and now I am just lying here watching DS do imaginative play with his cars and garage, no motivation to finish unloading dishwasher zzzzzz

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHopeful · 16/07/2013 13:15

Oh lucky you littlemiss having a toddler that plays independently.

My dd is appalling at playing on her own. Think it is a mix of things, she has always hated being left alone. I ended up doing attachment parenting as she just hated being put down (actually she was ok being put down just screamed blue murder when you nipped off to go to the loo). Also she has extremely doting grandparents how live locally and pay her tonnes of attention.

Any suggestions on how to get her playing on her own? I plan to take her out to lots of toddler groups so she can play with the other kids (thankfully she will run off and play). But I can't be out of the house all day.

kittykatsforever · 16/07/2013 14:14

When my dd1 is the same, will run off to play anywhere we go out and about but at home wants constant attention Hmm

LittleMissSnowShine · 16/07/2013 20:22

This is prob a v stupid and sexist thing to say (& my phd is in and around gender studies so i should know better!) but anecdotally from chatting to friends & other mums at groups it seems to be that boys can be tough as babies - often bigger so harder to push out in the first place, ALWAYS hungry, not great sleepers, need lots of entertaining, slower to pick up new things than baby girls might be (toilet training, walking, self feeding etc) terrible tantrums, always covered in scrapes & bruises from all their climbing exploits....but then they get thru terrible 2s and all of a sudden they love playing with blocks / duplo / cars, watching cartoons and pottering round the garden lol As long as they get out to the park or a playgroup once a day for a good run around they are pretty easy to manage. Whereas (i have heard!) girls are often 'good' babies and trickier/clingier toddlers but then when they go off to school it all kind of evens out anyway.

Only tips I have would be to figure out which toys your DD really likes and can play with quite independently and then designate a box or a shelf within easy reach for hee for each thing so she knows where to find her fav toys and then when you are busy cooking dinner, putting washing away or looking after new baby toddler will know where to find things to entertain themselves and gradually might even enjoy being a big girl and playing by themselves as long as you are in earshot to come and admire their lovely drawings etc Wink Or i guess you could try making housework / looking after baby a 'game' thry could join in and help with... I havent had much success with this tho lol

kittykatsforever · 16/07/2013 22:06

Good tips little! I have heard of these generalisations but alot of the time would agree, my dd is a fantastic sleeper and was a good baby, they often say they are quicker at talking and she has been quick, she will help me clean i.e. take the brush off me therefore allowing me not to and loves helping with the baby just abit too much and it doesn't stop when im not looking she does like playing with some toys, ill have to do as you suggest and make them easily reachable!
