Thats not great toby. At least u will be able to see your bean progressing and I guess take any dating with a pinch of salt....x

Notsohorriblefeeling · 04/06/2013 20:10

Sarahleanne, I am glad the kids sour sweets worked for you too! I normally Hate sour flavours.

First midwife appointment this Thursday (though have already had a scan due to bleeding, thankfully now stopped)!

I haven't told my mum yet, and think I may leave it until I see her in person, on a beach holiday in a few weeks. I am wondering how long it will take her to realise I have breasts for the first time ever, and understand why. Or would this be mean?

Frizz1986 · 04/06/2013 20:57

Anyone else finding v frustrating all these celebs announcing they're pg?
When will it be our turn??

It seems every where I look these days there is either someone I know announcing they're pg or some celebrity! So frustrating! Lol

flowersfortea · 04/06/2013 21:19

Hello everybody,

Marking my place on the new thread and trying to have a mammoth read to catch up!

So nice to hear about the scans beginning to filter through. I told my GP last week so hopefully should hear from midwife sometime soon and first scan presumably a few weeks later? By my dates I'm 8 weeks, although I suspect at the scan they may find I'm a couple of weeks behind as my cycles were irregular.

Telling OH - for me luckily was fine, a week previously had had a negative test on about cycle day 40 so then on the Saturday we agreed to wait till the morning. So having woken up really needing a pee it was great news to start the day! Quite fun keeping it a secret that day although our parents now know. Had a nice chat with my dad on the phone today (he's not normally very chatty over the phone!) and it was sweet how he was asking after me, any morning sickness etc and telling me to tell my boss in secret in case I need to go into work late!

Had a horrible weekend busy at work and feeling rubbish due to a virus. I was completely exhausted, so much more than normal and now a bit better so I think I can firmly place the blame on my sore throat and cold and not on the little one!

Is anyone else gobbling up the 'week by week' pictures/descriptions in the books? I'm trying not to allow myself to read too far ahead so I don't 'spoil' the surprise each week!

flowersfortea · 04/06/2013 21:20

PS Completely went off prawn cocktail flavour crisps yesterday when, half way through a packet of crisps, I found the smell reminded me in a completely revolting way of some nasty body fluid smells I'd come across at work.

However, someone said last thread about going off tea - OMG - I think you win.

Sultanajo · 04/06/2013 21:32

Hey flowers yy! I love seeing my bean progress - I was in Tesco earlier and saw some prunes which is apparently how big my bean is at the moment.

Ok, TMI alert. Note to self - must be more consistent with my pelvic floors. Allergies really kicking in - cue uncontrollable sneezing sessions, the last one ended with a little bit of pee coming out! That has only happened before when I need to go, but I had only just been, so where it even came from I have no idea! May have to start asking for Tena Lady for birthdays at this rate! Omg! Blush

Gabbyj · 04/06/2013 22:33

Hello all. Have just found out I am pregnant, which was a complete surprise as both my OH and myself have had fertility issues and after 8 years of no contaception didn't think pregnancy was an option! Am in shock! Excited and petrified at the same time! Will be 42 when baby due on 28th Jan and can't wait to be past 12 week stage...

extracrunchy · 05/06/2013 00:31

Hi everyone! Only just got my act together and moved across. Hope you're all well. Grin

MrsVDB · 05/06/2013 07:40

cosmickitten · 05/06/2013 09:57

Welcome Gabby,congratulations what a lovely surprise :-)

Toothfairy78 · 05/06/2013 10:06

Wow congratulations and welcome gabby!!

I have just got back from my first mw appt, to find dh still loitering about getting ready for work. So yapped at him about how it went.

Found out I put on 4kg in 5 weeks. Oops. Blush

Need to stop hogging out so much!

Mythreeknights · 05/06/2013 11:03

Congratulations Gabby that is amazing news - I can't imagine how overwhelmed you must feel right now!! Smile 8 years is a LONG time to wait so this pg will zip by for you and you will have a bouncy fat baby in your arms in no time.

MrsAVB · 05/06/2013 11:43

Congrats and welcome gabby - what a super precious bean! Not that the rest of them aren't...
Hope everyone is doing ok today
X

MrsGSR · 05/06/2013 11:48

congratulations gabby!

Going back to what we were saying on the last thread MrsAVB I know what you mean about being compared to, she is about 20 weeks and only has a teeny tiny bump, I'm pretty sure I'll overtake her soon! I'm just trying to remind myself that during her first pregnancy she put on a lot more, and as this is my first pregnancy I don't know what to expect so shouldn't really compare.

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 05/06/2013 11:58

Gabby what a lovely surprise - welcome!

MrsAVB I am sure no one will compare you to them - and if they do, you have the 'I AM PREGNANT' excuse when you slap them Grin
Also, isn't every pregnancy exciting? I think they are - like every wedding being awesome. You don't gotta do it first to do it brilliantly...

Feeling sick (plus ca change) today, but yesterday was a killer - one slice of toast, some strawberries and a cheese sarnie. Food was the devil yesterday. Today, my sour Watermelon Slices sweeties are making me feel much better. What? Watermelon is a fruit.

Penny31 · 05/06/2013 12:12

Just catching up on everything!

It's really exciting to see the conversation changing now to worries about weight, sickness etc from cramping and bleeding. Hopefully as we are getting closer to the 12 week mark we are becoming more positive and excited and over the truly worrying it time. There will always be things to worry about, don't get me wrong! Im now worrying about the test results that go along with 12 weeks. Just want everything and everyone to be healthy!

Now that I'm feeling much better I need to start eating better. I'm feel guilty about the lack of fruit and veg I've eaten!

Frizz1986 · 05/06/2013 12:23

Wow congrats gabby. That's a long wait, you have more patience than I do. You must be beyond excited!

My belly is feeling very large today. Think that water retention had finally arrived as i feel very heavy.
On a positive note my spotting seems to have stopped and the cramps have gone. Juts need to hope it stays that way now. Fx!
Also had an excellent nights sleep so am feeling a million times better today.
Only 2 more sleeps (plus naps lol) until my booking appointment. Really hope I get some details about my scan date too as would love to be able to aim for another date milestone!

I agree with everyone else regarding every pg being amazing. I don't think there will be any less excitement. In my family I think there would be more as it would feel lucky there being 2 pg at the same time!

enormouse · 05/06/2013 12:51

How lovely for you and your hubby gabby congratulations!

Agree with you penny I can't wait to have a proper bump. I put on my favourite summer tea dress and I just look bloated/ like I've had a massive bowl of pasta. I'm going to have to buy maternity clothes for this pg a lot earlier than my first, I think.

I feel much better today and the rage has completely gone. Might be something to do with the sun shining and my washing machine being fixed. Smile

Had a garden picnic with DS and pushed him round on his trike. am a bit worried actually cos he's still not walking (19mo) and I'm dreading carrying him and having a bump. There's nothing wrong with him, checked with gp and hvs, he's just stubborn. Toddles and pulls himself up all day long. Am also sick of 'is he walking yet?' From everyone in sight.

enjoyingscience · 05/06/2013 13:01

hello all! Are we all on the same thread now? hope so. It's too much for my brain otherwise.

Welcome and congratulations Gabby! You must feel like you'[ve landed on another planet! (though a very nice one :))

Had my booking in yesterday, all very boring, but the midwife agrees I should go for homebirth and seemed really lovely, so yay! Just got to keep healthy and low risk for the next 7 months now.

Ended up telling a colleague at work today when I accidently cried during a chat with her about something really minor/boring Blush. Felt like such a twat. Thankfully she saw the funny side.

TobyLerone · 05/06/2013 13:11

Congratulations, Gabby! How lovely :)

enormouse -- my nephew wasn't walking at 18/19 months and my sister was getting a bit worried. She walked in to the living room one day and he was literally running around! He saw her and sat down immediately. He'd obviously been doing this for ages :o

enormouse · 05/06/2013 13:34

Toby that made me giggle. Almost every time his granny sees him she says something along the lines of 'oh toddlermouse, are you going to walk today?' Even if he's been standing up he'll plonk himself down on his arse pointedly and shake his head no. I'm pretty sure the non walking is for grannys benefit. I've come to accept that he'll do it when he's ready but I've been so tired lately it's been making me panic.

MrsGSR · 05/06/2013 13:37

Glad the spotting and cramping has gone Frizz Fx it stays away :)

enormouse My cousin didn't walk until he was a year and a half, he didn't even crawl. All my aunts and uncle used to put toys just out of his reach and he would just look at them! He's now in his 20s and just got back from skiing in France, does gymnastics and various other sports so it hasn't had any long term effects!

enjoying I'm crying at everything and DH thinks it's very funny :/

That's so cute Toby! Although probably a bit annoying for your sister!

TobyLerone · 05/06/2013 14:09

It was funny :) And my other nephew is 19 months and has only been walking a couple of months. He never crawled properly either just did this weird bum-shuffle thing. He did exactly the same thing just sat down whenever anyone mentioned him walking. My grandad kept banging on about it, but luckily my sister wasn't in the least bit bothered. She and I just kept telling my grandad "he'll do it when he's ready". And he did.
He was much steadier much sooner than my DS was when he walked before he was 1.

Penny31 · 05/06/2013 14:12

YY on the crying. I old my boss yesterday that I am pregnant and cried! How embarrassing. Fortunately he is very understanding!
