Thread three... Rock and Roll......

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

So glad it's not just me with the pot noodle! It's just such student food that growed up adult shouldn't be eating, but it was sooo nice. I was having to fend a kitten off while eating it. She has taken to sitting on my shoulder and watching me eat and if it smells nice she wanders down to meet the fork!

I'm hoping Bob is a boy. I'm not into pink and all the princess stuff. she is not royalty! I guess I just don't want to look really ungrateful when MIL turns up with some pink frilly monstrocity and I hand it to the dog to play with!

TobyLerone · 30/05/2013 14:39

There will be no pink, frilly stuff in our house, either. I think we'll probably make sure that everyone knows that. Nothing with "princess" or "trouble" or "daddy's special soldier" on it, either. No slogans, no obvious branding. I am going to be such a bitch :o

keskiviikko · 30/05/2013 15:03

I know people are trying to be nice, but I have already issued the edict of no pink and no pastels. I'm not going to find out what Bob is, but most of my friends and family know I'm not into pastels. I just know that MIL will not impressed by the colour palet I will be dressing Bob in!

TobyLerone · 30/05/2013 15:14

We're not finding out, either. It will be in white for as long as possible. I always think newborns look so lovely in white.

carrotcakecupcake · 30/05/2013 15:25

wow specific well done on that epic post! To be honest nothing would hit the spot like a proper pint, or glass of wine, at the moment. The alcohol free malarky is more just a front at the moment, and I don't think I'll keep it up after people know the news. I guess its good if you are craving the taste of a beer, but I could only manage a couple before getting fed up (full of gas). Also tried alcohol free wine...in a word VILE, so so wrong. Someone mentioned a gin countdown calendar; let me get my crayons so that I can draw up a wine one!!

I am pregnant with dc3, due Jan 26th I think. Although dd1 was a EMCS and dd2 was an assisted forceps delivery so think I might opt for a CS instead of a VABC this time, and save myself the inevitable horror of baby getting stuck- which means I could be due 2 weeks earlier.

Reading some of these threads have taken me back to when I was pg with dc1 and made me smile. We didn't find out with dd1 or dd2 and was a lovely surprise both times.

Grin @colour palate though. You really won't care at 2am when baby has soiled and puked over yet another babygro Grin

Sultanajo · 30/05/2013 15:39

specific ha ha boom! Wink Yeah made it thru lunch. Managed to force down a cheese jacket! Luckily my mate doesnt come up for breath when she talks so I could just sit back and listen and mumble the odd omg in the appropriate places! She did ask if babies were on the horizon, I just said "thats the plan" without making eye contact and managed to change the subject asap. She didnt question further thankfully, but did try to get me to go ice skating!!!! I am such a shit lier and I just said things are busy in the coming weeks but maybe at some point and then changed the subject again! Arghhh!

Glad its not just me with DHs breath!

Dont think we are gonna find out the sex, but if we do we wont tell anyone.....x

Sultanajo · 30/05/2013 15:41

Welcome frosty! Congratulations! Thats so true about the baby grows and they grow so fast anyway. My mate changed her little one 8 times the other day because of various spillages/pukes, so will just be grateful for anything anyone gives us! Wink

enormouse · 30/05/2013 16:00

Hi frosty Smile

tobylerone you'd be so disappointed with the t shirt my DP insisted on buying for DS. 'I'm a genius?just like my dad'. He's wearing it right now.
I was slightly Hmm over it but I didn't have the heart to say no.

keskiviiko you've made me crave pot noodle grr. Finally made myself the bacon sandwich I've been craving all day. (Now that toddlermouse has worn himself out enough to take a nap) Grin

MrsGSR · 30/05/2013 16:02

I've not been a big fan of dhs breath recently, glad it's not just me!
I might ask dh to pick up a pot noodle on the way home!

I'm really liking grey and white baby clothes. I'm not a big fan of 'princess' things but don't mind if people buy us pink things. I want to find out the sex but I'm not sure if we'll tell anyone.

MrsGSR · 30/05/2013 16:03

My friends baby had a 'if you think I'm cute you should see my dad' bib, which I thought was quite funny!

Frogcatcher · 30/05/2013 16:08

I bought my best friend baby bibs from the Lords shop when I went to see the cricket the other day. Her OH loves cricket & knew he probably wouldn't get a look in clothes wise. Can't wait to see a photo of her (pink wearing) baby girl in an I Love Cricket bib!

Sultanajo · 30/05/2013 16:11

toddlermouse how cute!!! I know DH will want to get a Liverpool football baby grow! I dont really mind, as long as he doesnt make me take it out in public! Wink Will let him put it on for matches! Grin

keskiviikko · 30/05/2013 16:13

Frosty colour palate! Grin does make me sound a bit like a wag! Believe me it won't be in perfectly matching colour coordinated outfits, unless they are all black!

keskiviikko · 30/05/2013 16:16

Sorry to make everyone want pot noodles! Blush

TobyLerone · 30/05/2013 16:32

:o enormouse. Don't worry. I don't judge anyone else who likes them!

Hi frosty :) This isn't my first -- it's my 3rd. And I like doing laundry, so white it'll be!

:o WAG, keski.

I'm so happy DH doesn't like sport. Although DS has decided that the baby will have a rugby shirt like his (he plays for the town team). I'm ok with that -- they don't come in newborn size!

Glad you managed lunch ok, sultana.

frosty21 · 30/05/2013 16:35

I really want a pot noodle now Grin

With both mine they were in white for ages as we didn't find out what we having. Its a really useful thing to do as you can easily pass onto dc2 no matter what sex they are.

I also said no to the whole pink thing. It didn't last. DD1 is 5yo and for the first two years she didn't wear anything pink. Then at nursery pink became her favourite colour Hmm so that put an end to that. With dd2 I just embraced the whole pink/character thing and lightened up.

The character thing gives them such joy it would be a shame not to allow it. They have character pj's and knickers which they both adore. We are not swamped by princessy things though, and dd1 is as likely to climb a tree as she is to put on a princess dress and dance around the living room. I think somehow you have to strike a balance.

This time round though I am looking forward to finding out the sex before I buy anything and having a baby dressed in colours for photos.

I'm also wondering if it will make a difference if I know the sex? After 20 wks I will know whether to say 'him' or 'her', and I probably know the name. It will be interesting to see how that feels.

I wouldn't change not knowing for my first two dc though. The moment you find out after the birth is so special IMO.

enormouse · 30/05/2013 17:09

I do recall seeing some lovely grey and white newborn essentials in the last mothercare catalogue. I'm not really a neutrals sort of person but they really did pull at my heart strings so I think I'll have to buy them when I'm further along.

I hate with a passion those slogan t shirts and growies with 'little brother/sister' and 'big brother/sister'.
frosty I know what you mean about the character thing. I have gruffalo everything in my house. Even a tiny brown gruffalo bath robe for God's sake! But what can you do really. Smile

TobyLerone · 30/05/2013 17:40

Ooooh, I love grey. The first thing I shall knit for the baby will be a blanket in some gorgeous dark grey alpaca yarn.

My sister is of the same opinion as me about the character stuff. Her DS is 18 months old and she's got Gruffalo everything! She's drawn the line at actual clothes, but he has pyjamas and the bathrobe (which is adorable, btw!). I just really hate character clothes, so will do all I can to avoid them. I've managed so far, and now mine have outgrown that sort of thing, thank goodness!

enormouse · 30/05/2013 17:40

My brain is wrecked. I posted, went away, made dinner and posted the same thing again. I think I need to lie down. Wink

MrsAVB · 30/05/2013 17:50

Hi frosty, welcome and congrats!

my name is MrsAVB and I ate the pot noodle. And it was gooood! Although shame tactic of mug of boiling water led to spillage on leg and cables whoops.

Also, I have been to the GP, felt like a bit of a fraud as am not dehydrated or spewing blood or any of the massive warning signs, just am fed up of vomming all day every day. Have been prescribed cyclizine, which I want to avoid taking, but I've taken the prescription so I don't have to go back if I get desperate. Also (bizarrely IMO) he offered to sign me off work for two weeks. I said no, as I don't feel any better over the weekends when I'm resting. And gave me a leaflet with all the normal stuff like eat ginger (vom), wear seabands etc.

I don't mind character stuff (can you get grown up gruffalo bathrobes?), as long as its not Barbie or action man or similar. I agree about the naff slogans though. And it's not that I'm against blue or pink per say, just that baby will wear either/ both regardless of gender. Although DH doesn't agree, ho hum.
X

Frogcatcher · 30/05/2013 17:55

Sultana I'll be with you on the football thing unfortunately as my DP is a staunch Southampton supporter so the poor mite will have something whether it's a boy or girl. I don't mind red & white so that's fine. Ironically his 8 year old son really isn't into football & chose knitting club at school over football practice Grin

Anyway having worried I wasn't having major symptoms I have noticed this afternoon I feel sick if not constantly eating. Looks like ms is kicking in after all & I'm not one of the lucky 2/10 who don't get it Sad yet relieved!

TobyLerone · 30/05/2013 17:56

Take the cyclizine, MrsA. It'll make you feel human again.

Toothfairy78 · 30/05/2013 18:08

This forum just gets better.

humpty well done on the successful deployment of prunes i nearly snorted by cheese n pickle sarnie reading it!

And what's the deal with pot noodles today?
