Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Gerty1002 · 16/07/2013 13:46

PurpleDana I feel your pain. I have barely slept in a week and last night was the very worst. I managed to have about two hours from 5am as it had just cooled down a little, but then the temp rose again and I was up for more cold water and to rewet my cold flannel.

Luckily I managed to pull myself together and go for a swim, which was lovely as the water was cool and I felt weightless for an hour - but now I'm back to tired and sweaty. Sick of moaning now but can't help myself haha, got another 6 weeks or so to go :(

babyhmummy01 · 16/07/2013 19:40

Ladies need some advice. Bump has felt rock gard and tight since Sunday, getting intermittent cramping and for the first time in pg my back is killing. Normal or should I panic?

PurpleDana · 16/07/2013 21:24

Don't panic babyh but take it easy. Baths and massages and paracetamol if u think u need it Smile

Gerty1002 · 16/07/2013 22:56

How far along are you babyh?

babyhmummy01 · 16/07/2013 23:11

35+3 Gerty.

Baths not helping and paracetamol is giving me acid reflux. I just can't get comfy

Gerty1002 · 17/07/2013 08:04

Well it could be something or nothing... or even just trapped wind causing havoc. If you still feel off this morning I would just ring the midwife to put your mind at rest - whatever it is you worrying won't help :)

Thyeternalsummer · 17/07/2013 08:36

Anyone else becoming a bit sceptical that they're ever going to go into labour?

37 + 4 today, and despite BHs since 30 weeks and quite a few stop-start contractions/cramps, baby seems as comfortable as ever. Thought it might be 'it' on Monday night when an agonising stitch like cramp all down my right side had me on my hands and knees, crying and unable to move but after a cool bath it all eased off.

Just want a show, or waters to go...or something. Know my due date is still over two weeks away, but it feels like I'm never going to give birth.

Anyone else?

babyhmummy01 · 17/07/2013 10:44

Thanks Gerty, its not trapped wind and still uncomfy and hard but slightly better than yesterday. I think I just need to suck it up. Spent last night in tears due to the discomfort just can't sit, stand or lay down cos too uncomfy and far too hot. Roll on august

Gerty1002 · 17/07/2013 12:00

babyh Ah bless you, hope the pain doesn't return! I had some 'fed up' tears last night too, it was so hot and I couldn't get comfy at all. Lovely DP drove to the beach at 9pm so we could take a little walk and dip my feet in the cold sea! I managed to sleep a little better so I think that helped :).

babyhmummy01 · 17/07/2013 12:05

Aww bless him! Mine is feeling helpless that he can't do anything to fix it. Wish I lived nr a beach! I don't think the fact I am coughing so much with my asthma is helping, poor baby is thrust forward with such force everytime...I think I am going to talk to mw when she is back from her hols about the c section the hospital discussed

Mrsd77 · 17/07/2013 12:07

Eternalsummer the end is in sight but time is going sooooo slowly! I have elcs booked for next week but felt sure I would go into labour before then. I've had about three weeks or more of killer BH, period cramps, tightenings and general "on the move" sensations.

Our assessment centre have said all is perfectly normal but it doesn't feel like all will come to nothing once it starts!

Fully nested out and ready to have a baby now!

Christelle2207 · 17/07/2013 13:41

eternal I know what you mean- 37+5 here. Baby very comfy I think and no sign of anything happening at all. Tho my bf had a baby at 38w recently and had no sign at all at her MW appointment earlier that week. Preparing myself to go overdue and poss be induced.

PurpleDana · 17/07/2013 13:43

babyh have u got a birthing/gym ball? I was having agonising stitch type pains a few wks ago and the only way I could get remotely comfy was to kneel on the floor with my arms resting on the gym ball in front of me and stretch forward a little. Also, if u can sit & rock/bounce on the ball it may help get baby into a better position & therefore make u feel more comfortable. Hope it helps x
eternalsummer I think we sometimes get into the 'could be any day now' frame of mind and forget that it also could be weeks away! I'm aiming to be prepared but not expectant Wink 35 + 4

Thyeternalsummer · 17/07/2013 14:09

Mrsd - very jealous of the ELCS..you know that baby's coming out at some point Wink Was quite tempted to display hysterical fear of childbirth at my last midwife appt in the hope of a CS, but my midwife is too no-nonsense and abrupt for me to even try.

Christelle - Luckily none of my pregnant friends have given birth before me, or I'd probably be posting on AIBU..asking whether I was totally unreasonable at having thrown a hissy fit at them pipping me to the post!

PurpleDana - the 'any day' mentality has definitely been my downfall. Bags have been packed for weeks and I'm too organised to patiently wait.

Think I've decided on GinaFord and formula feeding as my baby routine, but fully prepared for my new found confidence to disappear as soon as we actually have a baby to put theory into practice.

Mrsd77 · 17/07/2013 14:12

Eternalsummer I must admit, it has taken some of the stress out of the situation! Baby is on 97th centile and consultant didn't want me to vbac so decision was out of my hands.

babyhmummy01 · 17/07/2013 14:25

Purpledana - I do so will get dp to pump it up tonight I think and try it again.

Eternal & mrsd - I am very impatient but now been told to expect emcs due to asthma so gonna ask for elcs instead but mw on hols now so next apt isn't til 29th and I fear I may have lost the will by then

Thyeternalsummer · 17/07/2013 14:30

Babyhmummy - is there another mw at your surgery you could see? Would be going slightly crazy if I had a two week wait for mw. Even the current weekly appts seem ages apart. Good job I don't have her mobile number ...she would be getting lots of 'x just happened ....does that mean I'll have the baby today?!' texts Wink

TrixieLulamoon · 17/07/2013 15:34

Afternoon Ladies,

babyh I would make an appointment with the midwife covering the holiday if it meant you would feel less anxious about it. Getting stressed is not good!

eternal purple Another one here with "any day now"itis. I am completely disappointed when I get a BH and then nothing else for hours!

Extremely Envy that MrsD knows her baby is coming next week! Though I did turn down an ELCS (2 previous EMCS).

Is any one else REALLY hungry??? Feels like I'm hungry all the time. Maybe it's just boredom being stuck in the house all day. I suffer in the heat when not pregnant so there's no way I'm going outside. I manage a walk in the morning before the heat kicks in but then that's me on the sofa for the day!

A bit anxious about the hospital I am going to, as it was one of the 14 mentioned in the report yesterday, the maternity unit being understaffed was one of the things brought up in the review panel video I found online. Don't really know what to make of it as most of the women I know with children have given birth there and have had no issues.

37+3

Mrsd77 · 17/07/2013 17:18

Trixie mine too! I rang my good friend who works in the NHS and she said that its the best time to be treated as all the task forces were already in and everyone was subjected to incredible levels of scrutiny. Made me feel better!

babyhmummy01 · 17/07/2013 17:37

No cover unfortunately and no other mw at surgery. If it gets too bad I will have to call triage I guess

Thyeternalsummer · 17/07/2013 18:34

Trixie - I'm super hungry too, but seem to be losing weight. Think the baby is meant to be having some super growth spurt in these last few weeks...from what I remember from all the 'your baby at x weeks pregnant' baby site emails.

gloti · 18/07/2013 11:25

Son due on 2nd August...anyone else struggling in this heat????

Having two or three showers a day is not helping! On the other hand I am LOVING being on leave GrinGrinGrin

Thyeternalsummer · 18/07/2013 11:45

Just been out tackling the front garden. I'd let it go for a few weeks as I'd not been feeling too agile and was worried about prem labour etched. But now baby has well and truly dropped, find I can do all sorts of stuff like touch my toes again Grin Arms and legs are scratched to high heaven, and I'm filthy but am loving being active again. Plus - maybe all this activity might prompt baby on his way?!

37 + 5

MissHinky · 18/07/2013 13:11

Another one here with period pain cramps, some slight brownish discharge and back pain. Tummy / pelvic area feels so heavy and pressured. Been in touch with triage who say it all sounds pretty normal but to report any changes if they happen. Currently 34+6

Not supposed to finish work until the end of the month but been off for the last week and a half feeling horrible. Also, now anaemic which would explain the lethargy, palpation's etc but now have Pregaday tablets to take so that side will hopefully improve!

BrieMonster · 18/07/2013 15:43

Hinky after my experience (all the above and convinced my waters had gone despite them assuring me to the contrary) I'd just insist on being seen.. unless being sent home would feel worse than you do just now. Your call obviously.

Just wanted to say thanks again for the well wishes everyone. Obviously I am grateful that the discomfort and fear is behind me but I'm also so excited for everyone else and a little jealous of the experience ahead. No-one's treating me like a princess anymore and I miss the lovely midwives in the hospital!

Stiggley hope all is well with you two.
