Very early days but I'm due 26 January - really expecting early February after being 15 days late with DC1. Thought I'd get the ball rolling Grin

Anyone else?

Hi everyone,
VERY new to all of this stuff but my head is swimming a little bit and thought this would be the best place to get some kind of sanity!!
Found out that I'm due 8th Feb so 4 1/2 weeks pregnant with my first.
Putting this down to the fact that I'm beyond exhausted and feel rather rough.

meg2106 · 06/06/2013 16:36

Congratualtion SamL88... its my first one too.. and same due date... same pinch Smile

shopart123 · 06/06/2013 17:04

Well had my first midwife appointment today and can't say im not disappointed with it. Thought with it being my first pregnancy they'd ask how I was feeling and even confirm I was preg but nope.. nothing apart from folder with stuff for me to fill in and a book to read. Still dont feel pregnant, know its early days but just wana know everything is ok :( ALSO she told me you might not get first scan til 14 weeks!!! This waiting is hard enough

meg2106 · 06/06/2013 17:27

@shopart123 my first appointment was a couple of days ago and same experience... I even asked the GP if home preg test are accurate and she said they were.... I am not from the UK and my parents back home are not getting it, according to them the doc confirms if you're pregnant Grin ...generation gap or strange trust the docs have on pregnancy test....

littlestgirlguide · 06/06/2013 20:31

I remember being so disappointed with my first doctors appt when I found out I was pregnant with my first 4.5 years ago. Just the same, asked of I had done a home test and said he wouldn't bother, smiled and told me he would see me in 9 months and that was it :-/ didn't get a whole lot more when I saw my mw for the first time at about 8 weeks, she just asked some really basic questions like was it my first, had I ever miscarried, did I smoke, but they insisted in visiting me at home to check the house was clean!

Not expecting as much this time. I'm seeing my GP next Wednesday, I will be 5+6, and My SiL says I should lie and say I don't know my dates in order to get offered an early dating scan (although I do know my dates, exactly!) but I'm not sure!

littlestgirlguide · 06/06/2013 20:33

shopart first scan at 14 weeks doesn't sound great - I'm sure my first one was 11 weeks last time...

vix206 · 06/06/2013 20:37

Round here it is between 11 and 14 weeks. Just depends how busy they are.

Hi all - can I quietly sneak in here? I'm just over 5 weeks, but having had an ectopic last summer (with tube removed), an early miscarriage last month and having endometriosis I am trying to keep it quiet and not get my hopes up too much..... This will (hopefully) be my third.

I have a scan next week, and have been testing obsessively over the last few days because I am so worried about losing this one again, although I think I am calming down a bit now! Slight queasiness, and immense tiredness but otherwise ok so far.

shopart123 · 06/06/2013 21:35

Just feel so disappointed :( she didn't even address me by name I just felt like a number which I suppose os what I am! On the plus side the ready steady baby book is pretty good and has answered quite alot of questions. Just hope my appointment is for the 11 week date rather than 14 :) have so many weddings and events coming up and antibiotics is the only excuse I have for no alcohol - anyone the same?

MakeGlutenFreeHay · 06/06/2013 21:44

I got an early scan with my first because i said i was having pains. I was, but might have exaggerated to get a scan.... Blush. Ironic that i ended up with a true ectopic a few years later... but if you are really worriedand want to check i recommend going back to your dr.

amicusapple · 06/06/2013 23:05

So midwife went okay. She didn't seem overly concerned about the spotting other than if it gets worse to get back in touch and she'll book me for a check up (early scan?). It has got a little bit worse but no cramps so quietly hopeful it'll stop soon.

It's all a bit overwhelming when your just trying to get used to the idea of being pregnant!

Hope everyone else is well Smile

Thingymajigs · 07/06/2013 07:24

I got a 3+ on a clearblue. I feel so much better now. I took one yesterday at 4+6 and it said 2-3 which was right but made me start to worry because I was cramping quite a bit. At exactly 5 weeks its now 3+. Those tests are amazingly accurate.
We are going for a private reassurance scan in 2 weeks because we appear to have turned into neurotic nutjobs and can't wait any longer. Grin
How is everyone doing?

Thingymajigs · 07/06/2013 07:27

Hope everything is ok amicus. I know someone who had full periods during her pregnancy which caused a lot of stress but everything was fine and that "baby" is now sitting her GSCE's.

vix206 · 07/06/2013 07:44

Morning all. Just forced my toast down, so nauseous at the moment Confused

littlestgirlguide · 07/06/2013 08:45

Urgh, DH has made coffee and and the whole house smells of it. Barf. Washed my coffee mug up at work yesterday having forgotten to the night before, and nearly threw up in the tearoom sink :-/ I take it this is the dreaded morning sickness kicking in then!

vix206 · 07/06/2013 10:14

I just feel like I am constantly disgusted by everything. I'm having to watch my facial expressions as everything makes me want to heave.

Have just discovered digestive biscuits really help though.

I'm sat in office with DH and he's drinking coffee, making me want to throw up too. I gave up coffee as soon as I found out (just paranoid about everything after MC) and haven't wanted one since. The smell is disgusting to me now!

I'm slightly worried about MS this time, as previously toast and bovril has really helped. However, just before this BFP I was in discussion with the dr about being tested for celiac/gluten intolerance, and he has told to me to cut out all gluten while pg just in case i actually am.....so toast/digestives etc are out! Really hoping it won't be an issue this time and I will magically escape the dreaded vomits!

MakeGlutenFreeHay · 07/06/2013 10:50

Big sympathies to all those already hit by it. And good morning to all.

SamL88 · 07/06/2013 11:29

I'm so glad the morning sickness hasn't hit me yet. It's just the exhaustion that is getting to me. Luckily I have a job that requires minimal exercise (sat at a desk) but I'm finding I can't stay focused on a task for longer than 10 minutes. I'm also a singer and had a gig last night and I found myself napping in the interval - SO unlike me!!
I have the busiest diary and never stop doing things or running around, my BF is always telling me to slow down.
Please tell me this is just a phase of early pregnancy?!!

vix206 · 07/06/2013 11:53

Sam, I think it is just a phase. For me the first 10 weeks were really tough, then I was fine until around 28 weeks when I developed sciatica which kept me from sleeping more than an hour at a time...

Without that I probably would have been fine until I hit around 34 weeks and felt really huge and uncomfortable. DS was born in August 2010 so I was at my heaviest in the hot summer, I'm hoping a winter baby will be easier to carry!!

SamL88 · 07/06/2013 12:10

Thanks Vix, I'm sure all the endless 'thinking' doesn't help! I almost feel as though I want to take a test everyday just to make sure I'm not going crazy.
Hopefully we'll all look lovely during the "summer" months/days just in time to get massive for winter. Couldn't have timed it better really!

vix206 · 07/06/2013 12:34

Going to attempt an update on the stats thread in a bit..

OP posts:
Bunnygotwhacked · 07/06/2013 14:11

no morning sickness today for me perhaps yesterday was a bit psychosomatic. I am having would say tmi but this is a preg thread and lets face it it's going to get graphic at times a slight pink tinge when I wipe any and am getting a bit crampy now any chance you reckon it could just be a case of better late than never implantation bleeding?

MakeGlutenFreeHay · 07/06/2013 15:46

Quite possibly - especially if only a tiny bit. I believe slight bleeding in first trimester is quite common. All fingers crossed for you, take care.
