Very early days but I'm due 26 January - really expecting early February after being 15 days late with DC1. Thought I'd get the ball rolling Grin

Anyone else?

Sickness has hit today - not actually been sick but my goodness do I feel rough! I have a pretty good set up at work to deal with it but I have an hour and a half commute each way to work on a bus with no toilet - PANIC! I suppose I'm going to have to arm myself with plain crackers....oh and carrier bags!
Any tips to keep the sickness at bay?

gofourthand · 20/06/2013 20:25

For sickness: seabands, vitamin b6, ginger, mint gaviscon tablets, the bean diet (Google has loads on this), salty carbs.

gofourthand · 20/06/2013 20:28

I'm trying the bean thing early before i get the nausea this time, it's supposed to have a cumulative effect. Approx 240g cooked weight beans daily. I'll let you know how it goes if you like? :)

Thisisfreakingmeout · 20/06/2013 20:30

If I eat this much bean something else will happen!

gofourthand · 20/06/2013 20:34

Lol! Apparently not, though i see what you are saying.

The theory is that we reproduce bile. Which means the beans don't convert so readily to rafinose, the natural sugar which is gas-forming.

Well that's the theory. Day 5, no particular massive fartiness to report.

vix206 · 20/06/2013 20:42

Thanks for sharing the bean cure, interesting stuff! I'm vegetarian so eat quite a lot of beans and lentils, but I might eat more now!

I've got some b6 and haven't taken it as concerned about too much as it's included in the pregnancy vits. Is it still ok to take? I've been feeling rotten all week long

Just about holding it together as dh eats his pizza next to me

Going to Google the bean diet now

gofourthand · 20/06/2013 21:15

Polkadot have you come across pregnancysicknesssupport.org? It should have up to date information on safe amounts of B6.

Good site. I'dalso (unrelated) recommend homebirth.org later on if anyone is debating one.

SamL88 · 20/06/2013 21:24

Thanks guys - will definitely try these. It's such a worry when you know you can't be sick!
Going to check out the bean diet now. Sounds interesting.
I do remember reading that its ok to take above the RDA of B6.

gofourthand · 20/06/2013 21:29

25mg every 8 hrs showed significant reduction in nausea for women with severe nausea. According to 1 study.

tinypolkadot · 20/06/2013 21:29

Thanks goforthand I'll add that to my favourites I think.

Will report back about the b6!

tinypolkadot · 20/06/2013 21:41

Well my pregnancy vits only have 2.6mg in them! Have just taken a 50mg b6, will maybe try two a day, see what happens...

gofourthand · 20/06/2013 21:47

Hope it helps!

Anyone with older DCs: how old are they and when do you plan to tell them?

Bearfrills · 20/06/2013 21:54

My DCs are 3.10yo and 22mo. We're not telling them until after the 12wks scan.

charliedrinks26 · 21/06/2013 02:50

Can I join you? Not entirely sure when I'm due but going from date of last period will be roughly 27th feb, got my shocking bfp yesterday 3rd month on clomid!
Been try properly since august 2011, Ff dates say I'm 4+1 not sure when I should go to drs! As I know it's sooo early! But I just can wait any more!!

Think sickness may have kicked in and I also keep having to check af hasn't arrived -all seems unreal! I can't sleep either! Hence posting at 2:50 am!!! Grin Grin xxxx

Thingymajigs · 21/06/2013 07:35

goforth my boys are nearly 10 and 13 and we are waiting until 12-14 weeks before we tell them. They are going to be so excited!
Congrats charlie. Smile

littlestgirlguide · 21/06/2013 07:38

My DD has just turned 4, and we aren't planning on telling her until at least 12 weeks, as late as possible really.

Scan at 11.20. Wish me luck!

Thingymajigs · 21/06/2013 07:44

Good luck littlest. Smile I have my scan on Monday too.

vix206 · 21/06/2013 07:45

My DS (2.11) has picked up on me being pregnant from conversations I've had in front of him. It happened in march too, when I miscarried.

Because he's so young though he doesn't know how long a baby takes to make so, if I was to lose this one, we just wouldn't tell him again. I don't think it will really seem real to him until I have a proper bump.

If he was a bit older I would've been more careful about talking about it in front of him!

Ughhh. Feel like utter shite this morning. Constant battle. Me vs toilet this morning.
I hate early pregnancy

Bearfrills · 21/06/2013 09:19

I had no sickness yesterday then felt sick when we went to bed. Bedtime sickness, what's up with that?

I'm not being sick, I just feel vaguely nauseous but it's still mild and it comes and goes, it's like it's reminding me it's on it's way.

sunflowered · 21/06/2013 09:33

I've had a couple of bursts of nausea but no actual sickness yet but I'm only 5 + 2 so will enjoy it while it lasts.

it's the early afternoon sugar low and associated feeling rough that's been hitting me so far. Whoever recommended sugary snacks has been a lifesaver this week - thank you Flowers

sunflowered · 21/06/2013 09:36

Oh and congraulations charlie

EeyoreIsh · 21/06/2013 10:21

bear I have bedtime sickness too Sad including at 4 am this morning Sad Sad

I'm knackered now!

Sprite21 · 21/06/2013 12:06

hi charliedrinks, I have insomnia too, wondering if it's baby-induced? I keep waking up in the middle of the night and it took me two hours to get to sleep last night, awful! Then DD woke us up at 6.
I crawled out of bed moaning "how am I going to get through work today?"
dp: like everybody else does!
me: I'm pregnant! You don't understand how tired I am.
Boo to DP for lack of sympathy.
Our DD is 21mo and I don't really think she'd understand if I started trying to explain that there is a baby in my tummy. But maybe when I start showing she will sort of get it. She's very fond of pulling up my top anyways and shouting "tummy"! then slapping the baby fat that still hasn't gone, lovely.
Sympathies to those of you with morning sickness. Nothing yet and if it wasn't for the lack of AF, the bfp and the tiredness I would have no idea I was pregnant.
