Very early days but I'm due 26 January - really expecting early February after being 15 days late with DC1. Thought I'd get the ball rolling Grin

Anyone else?

Nervous times for everyone until those scans are done. All I can really focus on is getting through real life without anyone guessing at work, the nausea and exhaustion are so horrible combined. Can relate to everything people are saying on here in one way or another!

Bearfrills · 17/06/2013 20:23

Hi apparently :)

EDD is 23rd Feb, DS was on his due date and DD was an EMCS three days late but I'd started going into labour so I'm hoping this one is close to due date too! DD was lighter than DS, another trend I'm hoping will carry on too as I'm wanting to try for a VBAC

Trinpy · 17/06/2013 20:26

Thanks bear, ami and sprite. I'm such a worrier, but you're right: no use stressing, nothing I can do.

Hi to Third!

littlestgirlguide · 17/06/2013 20:55

I'm glad I told my boss now! He told me today that he's decided I need an hours lunch break so I don't get too tired - brilliant!

littlestgirlguide · 17/06/2013 20:59

How soon after going to the doctors did you get the letter about your scans? I went last Wednesday, I suppose I'm too hopeful to get a letter before I go on holiday on Saturday!

Bearfrills · 17/06/2013 21:01

Last time I saw my midwife at 10wks and got the letter a week later giving a scan appointment a week after that.

i got my scan letter 2 days after phone apt with doc.... but my docs are pretty good. they also book a 10week midwife apt at the same call so within 2 days i know my booking in apt date and scan date....

bear has anyone said anything to you re vbac or elec cs yet???? i had crash emcs with dd 15 months ago and really want a elec cs this time around. doc said i would have to go to a vbac clinic to discuss vbac.... i don't want to tho . i just want a cs again. what have they said to you??

Bearfrills · 17/06/2013 21:17

I got a letter from the surgeon a few days after DD was born saying that she saw no obvious problems (DD was breech with the cord around her legs and abnormally low amniotic fluid levels) and that it was a one-off, her recommendation was that I be classed as high risk this time around so they can monitor fluid levels and baby position but so long as they were fine she would recommend a VBAC and consultant led care.

Not sure when I'll have my first appointment with the consultant, I'm guessing the MW will sort that out at my booking in appointment and that a final decision re: VBAC/ELCS will be made nearer the time.

Clinical guidelines have changed now though and you can insist on an ELCS regardless of the consultant's recommendations IYSWIM?

feekerry · 17/06/2013 21:24

interesting that you got a letter right after your dd birth. i never had anything like that. i was in labour for 2 days before i had the emcs and dd was 16 days over due when i had her. i never dilated past 7cm even after full induction and they said it was because there was a thick edge to the cervix and dd was b2b so not dilating it fully. i was told shortly after birth that i would always get the option of another cs but the doctor this time was a bit more cautious and said a vbac would be better.....

Bearfrills · 17/06/2013 21:26

I think they have to offer it as an option but they can't force it on you, you have the right to an ELCS of that's what you want (I think in your circumstances I would want one too!).

sunflowered · 17/06/2013 21:42

Hi feekerry, if you're in the uk (or maybe just england) I think your gp should have received a letter afterwards, but some hosps are better at copying in patients than others. Might be worth asking the gp to see a copy if it's in your gp records? From working in other parts of the nhs it's likely to be technical dr to dr stuff but hopefully it'll give an idea about anything you really should/shouldn't do this time round.

sunflowered · 17/06/2013 21:46

just to add - gp would get a letter if you're a standard medical/surgical patient so I assume they'd do a post-discharge letter for maternity too esp in a scary situation like you described

vix206 · 18/06/2013 12:40

Wow we are quiet today! Smile

Namechangingnorma · 18/06/2013 13:01

I was just thinking, I am looking forward to the March thread starting and then we won't be the newest of newbies.

pettyprudence · 18/06/2013 13:02

Hello I got a BFP this morning and came straight from the TTC #2 Nutjob thread to here Grin DH doesn't even know yet as he is away until tomorrow night!

This will be DC2 and yet again I will be at the back of the class, last to have scans etc... as I think I will be due around 21st Feb. BUT most of my family are born in March so I think I will be late and have another March Baby (DS arrived bang on his due date, JUST making him a March Baby). DS will be just shy of 3 when this one comes

I have just moved house but would like to stay with my old surgery so I can have the same midwife as before - does anyone know the protocol on this? Can they make me change surgery? I'm in the same city, just a different part.

I'm going to have nosy on the thread now and see what you have all been up to (and remind me what I need to do next other than tell DH!)

DawnOfTheDee · 18/06/2013 13:03

It must be the nice weather...Wink

Nothing's been said to me so far re vbac or elcs. Am hoping it'll be discussed at my next mw appointment (second week in July).

I know I'm down for 'consultant led' care but that's because DD was such a heffer Grin.

Haven't got any letters yet re scan, appointment with consultant or anything. Am hoping they come soon so I've got something to look forward to!

I've told my line manager at work simply because of the bleeding....thought it best warn them if i need to leave suddenly or anything like that. I'm not telling anyone else at work until i've had my 12 week scan though.

DawnOfTheDee · 18/06/2013 13:04

x-post. Welcome prettyprudence and congrats!

Not sure what the deal is with moving surgeries. Might you get the same mw anyway? I know the one at my surgery covers several surgeries in the area.

pettyprudence · 18/06/2013 13:19

I think I will give them a call tomorrow and ask where else my mw is based - she is a community only mw and she ended up delivering my ds. I know I won't necessarily get her for delivery again (hoping for another HB) but I got all my ante and post natal care with her and would like to try and keep the continuity. She was very practical and matter of fact but also very pro using movement and gravity and labour and leaving me be etc... I cried when she signed me off Blush although it could of been my raging mass of hormones rather than a real love Grin

No symptoms here yet but they didn't kick in until week 6-ish last time and actually wouldn't mind not having any at all...... I am about to hit our busiest time in work and could do with not being sick/exhausted!

sunflowered · 18/06/2013 13:25

Hi prudence congratulations.

norma I'm due on the 20th (I think...) but am a first timer so sticking firmly to the Feb thread to see what others are doing a couple of weeks ahead Smile

dawn I haven't told work and DH is quite keen not to tell work before our parents (and not to tell parents before 12 week scan) but I think I might reach a point where it's necessary sooner... I feel a bit guilty as work in the nhs in one of the bits that's been shaken up by the government's changes - money's tight and I've been around long enough to qualify for great maternity pay on top of smp but it's going to make a bit of a dent in our team budget. Plus I know my line manager had to self-fund IVF so it's a bit of a sensitive subject.

In other news, am working at home today which is awesome, particularly as someone stole my office chair and left me with a crappy old one yesterday. I'm blaming the extreme Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry about it on hormones. That's the only excuse for getting so het up over a wheelie chair. But now the cat keeps settling down on my keyboard and won't be moved. She needs to watch out, I'm due another mood swing soon Wink

sunflowered · 18/06/2013 13:29

norma I think that line might have been aimed at prudence, sorry. Have just downloaded the talk app which is handy but doesnt let me see previous posts.

I meant to add to you norma that it's a little scary seeing the january thread start talking about 12 wk scans already Shock but I guess that'll be us in 4 weeks too Grin

heidihole · 18/06/2013 14:22

Hello, I'm totally crap at threads like this, they move so fast and it's all I can do to keep up with the reading let alone posting, but I am here and watching! Due about Feb 12th I think with number 2 and have a 13 month old at the moment.

So currently 5 + 6 and no symptoms yet except bloating. I've actually lost two pounds since conceiving (BMI at the upper end of overweight) but trousers are tighter. Sucks!!

Looking at my pregnancy journal from last time it wasn't until 6/7 weeks that the sickness kicked in (and was hardcore!) so expecting it any day now. Funny how you want the sickness as reassurance it's all OK but when it happens i'm sure i'll be cursing it!

EeyoreIsh · 18/06/2013 15:15

Hi everyone, I can't wait either for the March thread to start so we can feel like old hands Grin

I hit 7+0 today. If I make it until Friday I pass the milestone of losing my last baby. I'm counting down the days. I know it's a token date and things still could go wrong, but it's significant in my head!

I'm so contrary about the sickness. I've hardly had any all day, and in the last ten minutes it's come on really bad and I'm hiding in the loos at work Blush.

I'm tempted to tell my boss so I can go home early. But I don't want to give way this early in the pregnancy. Oh dear.

shopart123 · 18/06/2013 15:44

This is sooo not how I thought being preggie would feel like. Like so many others im wanting an early scan but OH Is not up for it at all. Im constantly worried about every pain im getting and going to toilet all the time to check everything is ok. To make it worse someone at work announced a few weeks ago they were 7 weeks preggie with first and yesterday they had bleeding and have practically been told they have high risk of miscarriage. Its just awful. I dont mind the tiredness/nausea but this waiting is such a killer. Dont feel excited now :(
