Very early days but I'm due 26 January - really expecting early February after being 15 days late with DC1. Thought I'd get the ball rolling Grin

Anyone else?

Hi all! I'm due 19th Feb (I think).

Feeling fine other than sore boobs and tiredness. Think I'm 5 weeks on Wednesday going by my last AF which seems crazy when I know that I only conceived 2 weeks ago!

Not sure when to tell family etc. It's our first so no history to go by, but my gut it telling me that we need to wait until at least 8-10 weeks. We are visitng PIL this weekend who are desperate for us to have a child so it'll be really tough saying "no, not just yet"! Thinking of telling the family at my birthday get together in mid-July by which point I should be just over 9 weeks.

Trying to phone doctors today to get my first appointment but it's constantly engaged! Argh!

I've recently lost 2st in weight so I'm pretty sure that in a few weeks people will wonder why I'm filling out again... ho hum.

Anyone else started planning when to stop work? I'm hoping I can stop end of Jan using annual leave. (I know it's FAR too early for this but it's keeping me going as I hate my job so much at the moment!)

Bearfrills · 17/06/2013 09:32

feekerry, congratulations. I'm sure they'll come around. DS was also 15m when I got pregnant with DD so I have a similar gap to the one you'll have.

Hi jazz :) I lost a load of weight too, nearly 3st, and with the bloating I feel like I've gained 5 :o

Is anyone else having awful hot flushes? I feel like a sweaty, farty mess

ChocoFrog · 17/06/2013 09:43

Welcome to all the newbies. Been a busy weekend for the bus!

Last time round we didn't tell a soul until after the 12 week scan. In fact I told my mum on Mothers day by giving her a card which said 'Happy Grandmother's Day' and she didn't twig and just thought we were being rude about her age! Shows how likely she thought it was that she'd get grandchildren.Grin

This time though we've told my parents and my boss at work. With my past history we figure it is easier to deal with stuff if people around you know. And my boss went through similar stuff with his wife so he's great. We'll tell everyone else around the 10-12 week mark.

On another note, been feeling sooo sick the last two days. Far worse than my last pregnancy. Feel lucky that I work from home cos I think work would be Hmm if I laid on the floor in the middle of the office!

Didactylos · 17/06/2013 09:53

Just need somewhere to moan - like so may of us feel crampy, bloated and awful, and then had an episode of bright red bleeding last night. Must be between 5-6 weeks -is this too late for implantation bleed?

went to bed feeling glum and fatalistic, that there was nothing I could do about it and Id probably have full on bleeding/loss by am but nothing, bleeding settled down and not repeated. I think I might need to retest in a few days

DawnOfTheDee · 17/06/2013 10:10

I've just come back from my scan and it's good news!

They saw my little bean, said it had a good strong heartbeat! yay! Grin

Such a relief....they think my dates were just out and i'm actually 7+4 which by my rough calculations makes my due date 31st Jan. Definitely made the right decision to come into this group rather than the January group! If this one's 2 weeks late like DD I could have a Valentine's Day baby...

sunflowered · 17/06/2013 10:26

That's excellent news dawn, a great way to start the week.

Thinking of you didactylos, hope everything is ok Flowers

Bear - thanks for the reassurance. I think part of the reason they were so sore yesterday might have been that i poked them every 5 mins to check they were still sore...

EeyoreIsh · 17/06/2013 10:27

Yay, great news dawn.

Oh the sickness is awful. I'm so glad I worked from home today. I felt so ill making breakfast DH had to take over!

Luckily I've not been sick yet, i just have to run to the loo for a number two. I don't know how I'll cope with my two hour commute tmw. I have to be in work tmw.

I'm trying to think of it all as positive. Every time I feel sick that's my baby settling further in Grin

ChocoFrog · 17/06/2013 10:28

yay Dawn so glad it's good news. Nice to start the week on a brilliant positive. Smile

EeyoreIsh · 17/06/2013 10:29

didladocus sorry you had some bleeding. I have had the same this pregnancy and I freaked out after losing my last baby, but it's doing ok so far. so bleeding can be normal.

If you're worried, get a referral to your early pregnancy unit. I hope everything is ok.

Didactylos · 17/06/2013 10:39

Thanks all, its nice to have somewhere to talk about this. DP worries but I dont want to burden him by showing fully how it upset me. I think Ill just leave it for a bit now that bleeding has stopped and retest in a few days.

Ive never had bleeding in the only sucessful pregnancy we managed: i know how it feels eyoreish in that even though intellecually I know one on 4 women have early pregnancy bleeding and 60-70% of them will carry to term, I just keep thinking back to previous losses

Glad to hear the news of your scan dawn

Apparentlychilled · 17/06/2013 11:04

Congratulations Dawn!

bugsyburge · 17/06/2013 11:08

well done dawn, that's great news

we told our parents this weekend which was lovely, they are all very happy & excited

I have my appt at the docs on wed morning & it can't come soon enough, I like having something to focus on & getting to little milestones Smile

hope everyone isn't suffering too badly today.... I'm not too bad apart from still having sore boobs & feeling hungry but bloated

DawnOfTheDee · 17/06/2013 11:23

Didladocus I'd recommend getting a referral to EPU. Your situation sounds exactly like mine almost 2 weeks ago. It was a very long wait till the early scan but worth it.

Also when i first went in with bleeding they did a vaginal examination which showed my cervix was closed/as it should be and all looked ok. Provided some hope for me to latch on to until my scan this morning.

Really hope everything turns out ok. Fx for sticky beans.

vix206 · 17/06/2013 11:35

Dawn I am so, so happy for you. Did they have any suggestions as to what could have caused the bleed?

Just back from first midwife appointment, my nausea has turned to feeling faint when I don't eat regularly. I actually prefer that to feeling sick!

OP posts:
DawnOfTheDee · 17/06/2013 12:01

They said that they could still see a small amount of haemorraging (sp) in the womb so potentially I could experience some spotting but it shouldn't be anything to worry about/no harm to bean. If that doesn't happen the haemorrage will just get reabsorbed as things progress, again causing no harm to the bean.

No specific reason as to what causes this....in general it will be because the whole uterus is become much more vascularised (is that a word..?) so small bleeds can be quite common. I think the leaflet i got said 1 in 3 pg experiences some bleeding.

Very scary stuff...with DD I had no bleeding whatsoever...no implantation bleeding...nothing. I think that was partly why i was so scared when i had the bleed this time.

I'm especially impatient to get to the 12 week mark now....I know there are no guarantees but i think i'll feel a lot safer and of course be reassured by another scan.

Sorry to hear your feeling a bit faint vix....there's only one solution - keep eating! Grin

feekerry · 17/06/2013 12:06

i have had awful cramps this time round. never had any last pregnancy but woke last night with really bad pains. they were awful.
but no blood or anything so presume all is okay.

DawnOfTheDee · 17/06/2013 12:09

Ffs...not your...I mean you're

Namechangingnorma · 17/06/2013 12:46

Brill news Dawn! I am freaking out a bit by lack of symptoms, I felt a bit nauseous yesterday but fine today, tired, but then I haven't been sleeping well and only occasionally tender boobs. Am only 5+3 though, has anyone else had symptoms really kick in a but later on?

Bearfrills · 17/06/2013 12:51

My symptoms don't reply fully kick in until around the 6wk mark, in all my previous pregnancies that's when the sickness, etc started. Up until 6wks my symptoms can be lumped together under the heading 'feeling a bit off'.

Apparentlychilled · 17/06/2013 13:03

my symptoms also kicked in around 6 weeks too. So don't worry norma - there's plenty of time for you to feel rubbish!

jazzcat28 · 17/06/2013 13:13

Got my doctors appt on Monday morning, by which point I think I'll be 5w+5... I am a planner/organiser by nature and for work AKA control freak and need milestones too bugsy, I really don't know if I can wait another 6.5 weeks for that scan!

Not sure whether to tell line manager at work or not. Other than a 3hr total daily commute (driving) my job is desk based so not really too much to hurt my little pea. On the other hand it might be useful for someone senior to me to understand where I'm at to make sense of all the sudden doctors appts, tiredness and requests to work from home...

I might wait until after Monday.

FizzlingFireboxes · 17/06/2013 14:17

Got back from my holiday on friday, just a week in Portugal but it wiped me out, the smells in the supermarket over there made me heave, fish and smelly cheeses..bleurk

I'm still battling my way through the un-packing, keep getting a weird dizzy/vertigo sensation, I also had it with my last pg but had forgotten about it, loads of nausea but so far have only thrown up once.

I'm 7 + 1 and off to the docs later as have horrendous heartburn already, I suspect a haitus hernia but will see what he says.

Thingymajigs · 17/06/2013 14:29

Great news dawn. Smile
I told my mum yesterday and she was delighted for us. Quite a difference to the reaction I received from her with my first two but I was only 18 and 21 at the time. I was a little apprehensive telling her but she knew we had been trying for a year so when I told her she jumped up and brought down a hoard of baby items she had been putting away for me. Grin
Symptoms are still the same, growing boobs (yay!), bloating and I'm so, very, very tired. Only 6+3 so plenty of time to pick up some more delightful symptoms. Can't wait for my reassurance scan next Monday.

jazzcat28 · 17/06/2013 15:01

thingy that's fab news about your mum's reaction... it must be nice to have another woman to talk to. DH and I are trying to hold off a few weeks but I'm wondering whether to let slip sooner. You mention you're having a scan next week - is that a private scan or via NHS? I'd quite like a scan before the 12wk one, but no idea how to get one other than privately?

Trinpy · 17/06/2013 15:27

That's such good news dawn and thingy. Also wondering about the early scans.

Just came back from a job interview, I have another one for a different but similar job next week. I really loved the place and I was chatting to someone who worked there who was telling me how much she loves her job and how nice everyone is there Envy. I'm actually hoping they don't offer me the job so I don't have to make the decision as to whether I take it and lose SMP or stay where I am.
