Sparks Dh has been eyeing up those camera monitor things too. I think he secretly goes looking for stuff. Apparently he has seen them in babies r us and Costco. I have been to neither of these places recently so he must go in his lunch hour. at least he is showing an interest

The truth? I used a changing bag with DD but with DS I just chuck a few bits under the pram or in the pocket of the sling.

But with teeny little gorgeous newborns you need a few changes of clothes, lots of muslins and lots of wipes and nappies! It's so much fun looking through all the catalogues though! Thrilling times sweetie enjoy them!

And more chocolate advice.....put a few bars next to your bed and in the nappy change box for midnight changes and feeds ;) I used to bribe myself out of bed that way.

Now we co sleep but that's another very long boring story......

I had a very over full practical changing bag the first few weeks. It had -
Nappys, wipes and Nappy bags (in case you change her in the car it doesn't stink the car out), Couple of muslins, change of clothes for baby. That's about all she needed. For me I made sure I had spare maternity pads, nip pads, nip cream, couple of paracetamol and a bottle of water. That is while I am bfing. When I ff toddly boo there was no nip stuff and I took enough bottles/formula for whatever we were doing that day

As she is getting older I have just changed it to meet our needs.

I am loving the changing bag tips. I am sure mine will be full of crap like every other bag I own.

Munxx last night I discovered Kiddicare website and you can add things you spot onto a virtual list. OMG I wasted a couple of hours on there I can tell you. Do you have any suggestions of things I can make a note of that were good or useful for a new baby?

Those nappy boxes where do you get those from? I have seen them mentioned before but so far have not seen any in the shops.

I know I am going to end up with loads of stuff we don't use so I need as much advice as possible. Hope you all don't mind pointing me in the right direction.

EverythingIsTicketyBoo · 21/06/2013 18:19

Don't bother with a top and tail bowl, just use anything to put the water in if you're doing a top and tail, just make sure you wash their faces before their arses Grin. And think about the season you're dressing for, I got K some vests and she has never worn them cos it's been too warm Blush

Ooh and accept gifts/donations/hand me downs, you can always re donate to a charity shop if you don't need/use/want them.

I will let you know if I think of anything else :)

Sleeping bags. No faffing around with blankets and wondering if they are going to throw them off in the night.

We don't have a nappy box. All you need is a change mat of some description, nappies and a wipe of some sort. We change her on the floor in her bedroom and her wipes and nappies are in the wardrobe. I find it easier to change on the floor than up high so a changing table would have been no use to me. As they get older there is no chance of rolling off and hurting themselves too as they are already on the floor

EverythingIsTicketyBoo · 21/06/2013 19:06

Nappy box?? What's that then? Definitely a big yes to sleeping bags, K has just moved into hers, she was swaddled but started to kick out of that, the bags are amazing!!

EverythingIsTicketyBoo · 21/06/2013 19:06

I do have blankets for the pram and car seat!

OP posts:
Munxx · 21/06/2013 19:13

It's just a box like this that I keep all the nappy stuff in!

I have two in nappies remember so lots of stuff!

I keep the changing mat under the sofa and pull out when required. I will have a think about other stuff, ds on me asleep so not easy to type. Wish I were closer to you guys as we have loads and loads of stuff we are getting shot of! Moses baskets(s), crib, bouncy Chairs, jumperoo.......

EverythingIsTicketyBoo · 21/06/2013 19:39

Oh I see, well, my changing mat is on top of the unit with the kids toys and the Nappys, wipes and bags are sort of shoved on there too. We can't keep too much on the floor cos teen boo will inevitably stand on/fall over it (low peripheral vision)

OMG Sparks the size of a pumpkin!!! It is making my eyes water just thinking about it. Are you still bouncing on the ball? Hot curry? Long walk? S.E.X? I am not sure what else to suggest, I really feel for you when all you want is him here now. Hope you are coping ok love.

Bullets those sleeping bags what age can they be used from?

I will have to see how we get on trying to change on the floor as we have a very curious dog, who also has a bit of a poo fetish. I have seen a changing stand in IKEA that might be ok for downstairs and will be too high for her to reach. We are not going to let her upstairs when we move so we can change on the floor up there.

DH and I have had a lovely exciting day looking for baby stuff, well new cars and buggies. I currently have a Fiat 500 so there in no way in this world that I would be able to accommodate twins let alone a buggy and all the rest of the things we need. We have had a test drive in a Peugeot 2008, which was nice and roomy plus good size boot. But it didn't feel too big for me to park etc. We are still looking but were both quite keen.

I also think we have decided on which buggy we are going to go for. The Oyster Max seems to tick all the boxes. I really wanted carry cot options cos babies will arrive all being well as we approach winter and carry cots seem a cosy option to me and we can use them in the house for naps. I also want to be able to use with car seats and something that folds small. Where we live has quite narrow paths so I was afraid a side by side double might not be appropriate to use in some areas of our village especially on bin days or if cars are parked on the paths. Some of the side by side ones also would struggle to get through our front door. We are going to keep looking but this is our top choice so far.

Sorry for such an epic post but so much going on. Very exciting.

EverythingIsTicketyBoo · 22/06/2013 17:27

Sparks the only yay to get that baby out is the same way you got it in there Wink or a BJ Shock

There is something in the swimmer juice that when ingested can get things moving

OP posts:
RubberBullets · 22/06/2013 20:06

Yup, 2 ways to take it. Up to you if you if you prefer orally or fanjoly. Either is supposed to work :D

Sweetie the sleeping bags are done by weight, the baby needs to be big enough so that it doesn't slip down inside IYSWIM. DD didn't take long to go in them.

EverythingIsTicketyBoo · 23/06/2013 13:41

Well that a rotten end to a shit week, my stupid car has broken down, waiting for a recovery bloke :( luckily my brother was able to take teen and toddly home. I suppose I should stop MNing and save my phone battery.

EverythingIsTicketyBoo · 23/06/2013 13:51

There is a woman in the car next to me having a right good go at some spots/black heads on her nose! Been at it for a couple of minutes.

SweetieTime · 23/06/2013 14:12

boo are you home safely yet? Good job your brother was on hand to come and rescue teen & toodly boo.

Olives I am living in a rose tinted world at the moment too. I think these hormones make everything seem ok. I am the most chilled I have ever been although DH disagrees

I took my last meds last night, I am so glad to finish the progesterone. I just hope everything stays where it should now.

EverythingIsTicketyBoo · 23/06/2013 15:20

Back home car fixed :)

Of course everything is ok, and you're at your best Sweetie, and those babies will be fine without the drugs! Have you got another scan?

Sparks hope your ok and not having too much trouble with texts, calls, messages and people generally just asking if you've had the baby.
