Thanks frog it is, we had one last time, that's where found out about the bad news. They were brilliant, honestly fantasic. Scan Assure in Bolton, if anyone is curious. So we're going there again :)

SpecificDreamRabbit · 14/05/2013 14:17

Afternoon, all! Am five weeks today, and dying to poas again Blush But I'm determined not to... the fact I don't have my period should be evidence enough, I keep telling myself!

I sad at how many cheeses we can't have.... but amazed that we can safely eat stilton! I don't eat it much, but I love a bit at Christmas, so happy I can have that, even if I can't have my usual glass or three of Port with it!

SunnySentiments · 14/05/2013 14:18

Thanks Sultana I did ring the MW in the end. She said brown cm is fine if not accompanied by any cramps/pain, and if it becomes red or has clots then to call back straight away. Feeling a lot better now, counting the days to 12wks and considering trying to persuade DH that a private scan is a good idea.

YY to bigger boobs and tiredness!

This afternoon is dragging ....

cosmickitten · 14/05/2013 14:26

Good piont Frog have sent you a PM

Foodylicious · 14/05/2013 14:34

hi sunny i got myself into a right state before the weekend over cm and had a scan at the EPU yesterday and all was fine. had a bit more browny cm last night and today and mentioned it at me booking in appt this morning and she said it is fine! how may weeks are you??

Frogcatcher · 14/05/2013 14:44

Thanks foody. I did actually eat what I think was some goats cheese yesterday but it had been grilled & was in v small bits so figured probably ok. Hmm Client buffet lunch & the only veggie options were that & a frittata! Secret pg lady nightmare. I just had to fx that both had been well-cooked!

Rabbit by the time it's gets to Christmas I reckon I'll be having a glass of port with my stilton - I can't think it's going to do bubs much harm with only about 2 weeks to go. And it will probably make me sooooo much happier at that stage!

Sorry for all those with spotting. I think it is normal though. I've not had anything beyond quite a lot of CM.

MrsAVB · 14/05/2013 14:47

Hi everyone...
Feeling much better today yay! Anyone considering a home birth should read the thread on discussions of the day! It's made me really want one! Not sure what DH will say to that lol. Or our neighbours Blush
X

TobyLerone · 14/05/2013 14:49

I've read the HB thread. I've always said I'd want one if I had another baby. If they'll let me, it's a strong possibility.

SunnySentiments · 14/05/2013 14:51

Thanks Foody. I'm 5+4 today. I'm going to try and relax forget about it otherwise I'll be driving myself mad worrying about every little niggle. Grin

SpecificDreamRabbit · 14/05/2013 15:06

Frog, I think you might be right about the Wine!

I think I'm too anxious a person to want a home birth. What if there was a problem and baby couldn't get to hospital in time? I'd never forgive myself Sad

Anyone else struggling to keep their diet healthy? I keep stuffing my face with biscuits and cake! I'm going to put on a stone a week at this rate! Really need to pull myself together.

cosmickitten · 14/05/2013 15:17

Hey Rabbit my good intentions re diet are getting ruined. Had super heathly dinner night. Was very sick straight after. It the end my main calorie intake for the night was ginger beer and monster munch at pub quiz - fail!

SpecificDreamRabbit · 14/05/2013 15:21

Oh dear, cosmic! At least you have good intentions in the first place! I keep promising myself to be angelic, and then as soon as I get to work I put a biscuit in my pie hole and it all goes downhill from there Grin I don't even have the excuse of nausea at the moment, as my insides are feeling pretty stable on the whole!

TheSlug · 14/05/2013 15:35

thanks to this thread, I now have an overwhelming craving for goats cheese on french bread... mmmm

chocoholicalcoholic · 14/05/2013 16:07

I highly recommend a home birth, I'm hoping for one this time too all being well. It was sooooo good, so chilled afterwards it was unreal. I understand I was lucky that everything ran smoothly during and after the birth though. In the weeks leading up to the birth my midwife was trying to convince me to have a home birth and my straight up response was NO WAY! Baby came very fast so had no choice in the end anyway but would do it again in a heartbeat.

Just my tuppence worth though...! Having a baby without leaving the house was pretty cool.

chocoholicalcoholic · 14/05/2013 16:08

Mmm goat's cheese on French bread..

TheSlug · 14/05/2013 16:08

I am in love with the Idea of a home birth, but am just too scared that something could go wrong. I'm less then 5 minutes from the hospital but I still couldn't risk it.

SpecificDreamRabbit · 14/05/2013 16:21

I think goat's cheese is the devil's food Grin Have never been able to stomach it!

TarkaTheOtter · 14/05/2013 16:44

Just been catching up on this thread!

frizz I'd have thought you would be ok to do cupcakes in August. Should be passed the first trimester nausea and fatigue but not too pregnant either.

I've got such a sore throat. Internet consensus is divided on strepsils during pregnancy and feel silly phoning doctor. Just let my 15month old take a four hour nap so I could sleep to which makes sleep tonight unlikely. A bit stupid really as she slept through last night for the first time in weeks.

I'm trying to not to worry about diet at the moment. When pg with dd I had awful ms until about 16/20weeks, then at 26 was diagnosed with gd so spent most of pregnancy either puking or on a very restrictive diet. Overall I put very little weight on and was back in pre-preg jeans about a week after birth (soon piled weight back on cake-eating and coffee drinking though).

MrsHuxtable · 14/05/2013 16:46

Saying a tentative hello!

I've only got a BFP today and because I'm still breastfeeding DD1 (15 months) I have irregular cycles so am not sure how pregnant I am. Well, I'm on CD32 and 2 days ago I still had a negative pregnancy test and today it's positive so I would guess I'm just 4 weeks.

Having had light cramps on and off for the last couple of weeks, I'm really worried about the possibility of a chemical pregnancy but then, I felt the same with DD. So I'm trying not to get to excited yet but anyway, Hello all!

TobyLerone · 14/05/2013 16:49

Goats' cheese is delicious. And if I can't resist it, I'm not going to

Welcome, MrsH, and congratulations :)

Take a couple of paracetamol, Tarka. That ought to help.

SpecificDreamRabbit · 14/05/2013 16:55

Ooooh, Toby, you rebel Wink Have to say though, I have managed to survive for thirty years eating cheese and runny eggs without getting listeria or salmonella poisoning, so it does seem just a tiny bit unlikely that I will suddenly succumb to them now. But I think pregnancy paranoia knows no bounds!

Welcome, MrsH!

Tarka, try a mug of hot water with some lemon juice and honey in it? Might help sooth your throat a little. Or do a salt water gargle!

Foodylicious · 14/05/2013 16:58

I am kind of with you in theory rabbit but being pg means you are (apparently) much more suseptable to bacterias making you ill, not just that if you did get them they could cause harm.

TarkaTheOtter · 14/05/2013 17:16

Congratulations MrsH! Sounds like you'll have a nearly 2year gap like me.

Thanks for the throat advice. Have now had paracetemol and have requested dh to bring home some lucozade and ice cream honey and lemon.

Frogcatcher · 14/05/2013 17:17

My parents got salmonella poisoning once from a buffet at a function. It was awful as I was only about 12 at the time & they were both totally bedridden with bodily fluids coming from both ends. They lost so much weight in just days & it took them weeks to recover so I can see how a fetus would have no chance.

I think with listeria you can have it & not even realise as you might just feel a bit under the weather but that's enough to damage baby.

Generally your whole immune system is compromised when pg so you are more likely to catch everything. Going to be great for all of us then when it gets to winter & colds & flu are everywhere!

TobyLerone · 14/05/2013 17:18

Quite, Specific. I am paranoid about many things but what I eat is not one of them. I'm not going to deliberately go out and eat all the raw eggs and mouldy cheese I can find, but if I really really want a bit of cheese or to lick the bowl if I'm making a cake, I'm going to do it.
I've actually already told DH that he needn't think he can start telling me what I'm allowed to eat.

It made me laugh because in my last pregnancy (12 years ago), I was warned not to eat nuts on pain of death! Apparently, me having asthma and allergies (although none to food) meant that I was at risk of having a child with a nut sensitivity if I ate nuts.
MW told me this time that it's absolutely fine to eat nuts, as long as I'm not allergic to them. Then she handed me a 'healthy eating' leaflet in which it stated that I shouldn't Confused

Honestly? There's enough to drive us crazy in pregnancy without adding more paranoia about whether that strawberry was washed properly.

Each to her own, of course! :o

I don't do well with being told what to do Blush
