Hello new people!

My current yoga teacher will have me back once I'm 14 weeks. It isn't a specific pregnancy class but she is qualified for preg ladies, so I'm going to stick with her.

I've got a stupidly low pain threshold, and managed ok last time with just a tens machine so I'm hoping for the same. A cs is a pretty scary prospect for me, but everyone's different!

Frizz1986 · 15/05/2013 18:16

grinot congrats and welcome.
Just got back from work after the longest mw app ever.
Was supposed to go in at 2:45 but still nothing at 3:15 so went to ask. I got told i was next. Then lots of mega pg ladies started to arrive and got seen straight away. At 3:40 asked again and turned out someone had clicked me as seen!
So ended up waiting over an hour to go in and by the time i got back to work i had been gone 2 hours (all for what they thought was a normal nurse checkup!)
Anyway mw was v nice and i just got my forms filled in and she gave me a booklet and a pee pot for my booking app which will be at 8-11 weeks and scan will be 11-14 weeks. Dont know if i can wait til 14 weeks.

Think u win pea as urs seemed much more hassle free. Was a great way to calm a nervous first timer!

Frizz1986 · 15/05/2013 18:17

Oh and hello to any other newbies. Havent really caught up as am a bit frazzled now!

MrsGSR · 15/05/2013 18:29

LittlePeaPod · 15/05/2013 18:34

Hi ladies,

Thank you or sharing on the c-section information/stories. I think I was procrastinate on that one. Head in sand until second trimester.

Fizz. I was in at 9am and was first appointment. Maybe that was why. Sorry to hear about your experience...

Congratulations to all the new ladies with BFPs.. Flowers

Good luck, MrsG :)

Welcome, newbies!

MTBMummy · 15/05/2013 18:43

Welcome all the new BFP's great to see so many of us.

Just noticed a bit of blood, keep telling myself not to worry about it, that it's probably just some spotting, but fearing the worst :-(

TobyLerone · 15/05/2013 18:48

It really does seem common, spotting in early pregnancy. I had no idea. Fx it settles down for you, MTB.

MTBMummy · 15/05/2013 18:59

Thanks Toby, officially feet up and decaf tea this evening.

Frogcatcher · 15/05/2013 19:02

Welcome newbies!

Backtracking a bit to the pilates/yoga I've been doing Pilates on & off for years & for over 18 months at my current studio. They do specific ante-natal Pilates classes from 12 weeks onwards. If you're already doing classes with them they will let you carry on when pg but won't let you start general classes. I told my teacher this week despite being only 5 weeks & she said she was glad I did as it's best to modify exercises even early on due to the fact that you are using the abdominal muscles that need to separate in pregnancy (or something like that!). You need to be especially careful with curl-ups & after 12 weeks or so you're not allowed to lie flat on your back & have to use a special cushion. I was then annoyed as she wouldn't let me do all the hard stuff & said I could only do "maintenance" from now on even though I feel absolutely fine!

LittlePeaPod · 15/05/2013 19:09

Mummy. Sorry to hear about spotting hopefully disappear quickly. Rest up.

MrsG. Good luck at EPU tomorrow..

My yoga teacher is happy for me to continue with some modified poses for "my bad back" Wink

Sultanajo · 15/05/2013 19:13

Welcome newbies!! Congratulations!!!Thanks

MTB so sorry u r having spotting too! As Toby said there seem to be a lot of us with spotting. Such a worry - keeping everything crossed it stops as soon as it started xx

Frogcatcher · 15/05/2013 19:15

wink grin Tarka. Luckily there is only one other lady in my class & she's a nurse with two young kids so I didn't mind her knowing as well as it was just easier for everyone.

Foodylicious · 15/05/2013 19:15

good luck mrsG, hope all is ok, fx
rest well mummy
it does seem really common, definitely given the number of us on here with it!
i had a scan at epu on monday and all ok, but am taking a couple of days for myself to rest up and de stress.
thinking of you both, hugs

Frogcatcher · 15/05/2013 19:15

Sorry that should be Wink Grin Tarka. Total baby brain as a result of a 12 hour day at work!

MrsAVB · 15/05/2013 19:17

To throw a spanner in the works, I have just been offered a new job! I interviewed for it last month and didn't get it, but they have just created another post. It's with a new employer so I would lose the 6 weeks @ 90% SMP and just have MA. But the job pays more than my current one so the difference would be compensated by that. There are so many pros and cons to consider...and I have to decide by tomorrow...aaaah!

Foodylicious · 15/05/2013 19:32

well done Mrs A! can you get/do you have a copy of the new maternity policy/package? the amount i get is based on how much i earn over a couple of months 3ish months before i go on leave/am due. if you factor this in and it works out better for you it sound like a great opportunity, are planning on returning to worker after? are both jobs equally secure? good luck in figuring it all out, nightmare!

MTBMummy · 15/05/2013 19:55

Congrats MrsA - if you balance it out by the increase in wages then go for it :-)

TobyLerone · 15/05/2013 20:04

Congratulations, MrsA!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 15/05/2013 20:05

MrsAVB congrats on the job offer - I wondered from the JS conception thread, but didn't want to ask.

I'd go for it IF you want the new job. Don't worry about the pay - long term it's probably nothing, it's more important whether you would enjoy the new one more.
I say this as a person who would walk over hot coals as a job in preference to my current one.

As for birth stuff - I want to try tens & gas and air and see how I get on. Def prefer non-caesarian, mainly cos I would like to try bf'ing and I've heard that is harder?

alteredimages · 15/05/2013 20:37

Flowers to everyone worrying with spotting. I had quite a lot of bleeding with DD from five weeks and it was such a worrying time, especially when every doctor you talk to tells you something different.

Congrats MrsAVB!

I am really getting fed up with constant nausea and feeling bad cos I can't cook for DD and I worry about her not eating well. Thinking of going to stay with my dad or in laws.

DH meanwhile in huff because house not clean and I'm none too keen on sex. Anyone else having trouble with that?

MrsGSR · 15/05/2013 20:49

Thanks all, hopefully it will all be ok

Humpty, my mum had to have caesarians with both me and my sister but she still breastfed us both so it is definately possible.

I don't want an epidural just because the idea terrifies me, the rest I'll just take as it comes.

altered I've gone off sex since finding out, at the moment I'm so terrified of something hurting the baby that I'm being totally irrational! hopefully it wont last long

GinotPrigio · 15/05/2013 20:51

Congrats on the new job MrsAVB

Alteredimages I wouldn't worry too much about DD and eating. She will be fine eating sandwiches, etc for a few weeks until the nausea improves. If you are stil concerned then maybe try batch cooking when you feel ok and freezing kiddie size portions. That way you just have to de-frost and re-heat. I plan to do that if MS sicks in for me this time round.

TobyLerone · 15/05/2013 20:56

My house is a horrible mess too. I really must get on with it. DH is amazing, though, and just keeps telling me to leave it if I'm tired/sick and just rest.

As far as sex goes, it's limited to mornings because I feel sick at night, which means it's limited full stop because we leave for the station at 7.30. Weekends and days when DH works from home.
