All is fine with my bloods, so I've just got a prescription for Piriton for now. If the itching continues for a prolonged period I'm to go back for more bloods. The itching is driving me crazy!

Forget, glad to hear your acrobat is well :-) We are head down but no signs of engagement yet. Think he enjoys playing too much!

learnermummy · 21/05/2013 16:59

Glad to hear the bloods are OK MrsBri. Hope you manage to calm the itching. Calamine maybe?

About to set my out of office here - yay!

rrreow · 21/05/2013 18:00

MrsBri see if you can get some arjun cream? It's aqueous cream with menthol. It was the only thing that gave me relief last time when I had obstetric cholestasis and was itching like mad.

AlohaMama · 21/05/2013 18:08

Urgh hope the itching goes away MrsBri, I had unexplained itching for 6 weeks post birth last time and it drove me crazy!!

pinkapples · 21/05/2013 18:11

Sounds like everyone's been busy today
Lots to do in the run up I suppose I am also very excited to meet baby everything is ready now except she's not here!

Not
One tho am 37 weeks tomorrow so can officially have her in the birthing centre I want so very happy although slightly miffed it could be at least another 5 weeks if she stays put! Hmm Would like her on time now how does one order a baby on time? Hehe

MrsBri · 21/05/2013 18:29

Ooh, lots of good ideas for the itching if the Piriton doesn't work, thank you :-)

I actually scratched myself til I bled on my arms overnight, it would appear. I wonder if they do scratch mitts for adults?!

I'd love to order an 'on time, or any time after 37 weeks' baby, pink. If you learn how to do this then feel free to share the secret!

AlohaMama · 21/05/2013 18:43

Gosh feeling a little emotional now. One of our admin staff at work, a Filipino guy, just gave me a beautiful pink blanket he knitted. Apparently he has no nieces or nephews being born this year so he knitted blankets for his work nieces and nephews. So sweet!!

learnermummy · 21/05/2013 18:49

That's so sweet Aloha Smile

MrsBri try socks on your hands! I always found baby socks better than scratch mitts for staying on too!

arlandria666 · 21/05/2013 19:06

Went to see the consultant today about my ever increasing blood pressure they've decided the safest thing to do is book me in for an early induction. I was sat there thinking they would book it for next week and they threw in my face this Thursday! After a squeak and a splutter i managed to contain my tears and get used to the idea that by the weekend i will have a baby! Eeeeek! I will be 38 weeks...totally petrified!

AlohaMama · 21/05/2013 19:20

Wow Arlandria!! Glad you are at 38 weeks so not too early. That is when I was induced with ds - went to doctors for a checkup and she wanted to induce me there and then! Hope you get everything you need to get done over the next few days and get your head round the idea. In just a few days you'll be holding your little baby....

MrsBri · 21/05/2013 20:02

Wow, Arlandria! How exciting and scary in one!

I think that's you and Maisie being induced on Thursday now. We are getting a good few babies here now! :-)

Learner, my DH suggested his ski gloves! I think socks are more likely. :-)

Steffanoid · 21/05/2013 20:08

omg arlandria thats exciting IMO, I wish I could just book a date and say yes please I'll have the baby on this day thanks very much

pinkapples · 21/05/2013 20:12

Oh my goodness how exciting must be lovely knowing that its happening so soon and by the weekend you'll have a baby! Try not to worry in the meantime tho as I guess it's what's best for baby x Grin

Hawkmoth · 21/05/2013 20:13

I was induced at 38 weeks with DD. How exciting.

Piriton was amazing for my itching MrsBri, I was literally counting down the minutes to the next dose. I'm not so bad now, just one of those things.

AmIGoingMad · 21/05/2013 20:38

Wow arlandria! I can imagine that's its a mix of scared and excited right now! I was 39 wks when induced with DS- went to hospital for blood pressure and was kept in there and then due induction the following day. I cried when they told me and I'm sure it was a mixture of relief and apprehension. Don't worry- you'll do great and this is the right thing for you and little one!

Mrsbri- I'm glad that they're getting you sorted and keeping an eye on you! Hopefully there'll be no more scratching to the point of bleeding tonight!

Rue- I hope that you manage to avoid the jaundice with Michael.

Sunny- I would be furious! Cheeky mare!!!!

Thanks for the good luck messages. All went well in dept inspection thankfully! And my blood pressure is back down- yey! I think that might have something to do with going there from home and not work this time! They're keeping an eye on my platelet levels tho as they've taken a bit of a drop between 28 wk bloods and last wk. as I had a bleed after DS they just want to monitor it which is good.

Hope everyone else is doing well now too!

I'm off to sleep now to make up for my 5am start today!

rrreow · 21/05/2013 20:44

Good luck arlandria! I was induced with DS at 38w. I know everyone would always choose a natural labour over an induction but honestly it wasn't that bad. It's also great knowing you'll be meeting your baby very soon!!

Hawkmoth · 21/05/2013 20:58

Agree rrreow... My induction wasn't too bad. Pretty quick, much quicker than I'd thought it would be. Probably less than eight hours from first (amd only) pessary! Wasn't what was expected.

learnermummy · 21/05/2013 21:08

Good luck arlandria Smile

arlandria666 · 21/05/2013 21:29

I can't even think straight! I had my hospital bag packed from about 35 weeks now not even sure i have what i need?
Don't think I will get much sleep between now and then all seems a bit unreal! DH is like a child at Christmas ha ha!x x

forgetmenots · 21/05/2013 23:12

Aww good luck arlandria x

Sarah2506 · 22/05/2013 05:08

Would it be too much to ask for the occasional nights sleep without a wee every hour and without feeling so sick? Grrrr.

OP posts:
AmIGoingMad · 22/05/2013 06:18

I'm with you on the wee front Sarah- so frustrating! Meant to ask yesterday - how did the baby react to Star Trek in IMAX?

Have a good day all! This little one woke me up with a kick and hiccups just before alarm was due to go off- pretty cute really!

Steffanoid · 22/05/2013 06:22

the wees dont bother me, I've woken up really uncomfortable because my oh is lying diagonally across the bed with his head on my pillow, luckily he's up soon then I can have an hour or two with the bed to myself Grin

ginauk84 · 22/05/2013 07:26

How exciting, you will have a baby by the weekend!

Re: induction I have been wondering how it works as a lot of people say with first babies you can be in labour for a while - once you are induced do you have to stay in hospital or can you come home? Just thinking 24-48 hours in there having contractions would be awful as partners must get sent home in early stages?

SunnyL · 22/05/2013 08:25

WORST.NIGHTS.SLEEP.EVER!!!

Apparently i also had a gastric band fitted when i got pregnant. Had my dinner at 8 and at 2am i still couldnt lie flat without feeling like i was going to bring it all back up. Felt like i'd eaten a 7 course christmas dinner not 2 measly chicken salad wraps! DH has suggested i try pepto bismol.
